- Merge Screens was nice enough to send me a module to review on my channel so all of you can see the different options you have when upgrading the infotainment system in your Q50/Q60. Today I review and integrated module that works via the original top screen without having to go through the hassle of replacing screens. I've never been a big fan of the Tesla style screen but also didn't want to put a tablet in place of a screen so this works perfect! All the control from the factory unit are still completely accessible using the factory button on the console and steering wheel and is easy to flip back and forth if need be. This is a seperate bluetooth connection to the mod, right? does it sound better than the factory bluetooth connection? Thanks for the great detailed review.
I wouldn’t say it sounds better the factory system is pretty great. I would say it’s identical. No difference other than there’s no lag. The factory system has some lag between songs
Was that Skinny Pimp playing in the intro. That flow and cadence sounded so much like him.
Weird you don’t get album covers. I’ve had 2 Q50s and both show me the album cover in iPod mode, but if it hasn’t finished the 3 seconds it takes to load the cover it won’t let you change songs until it loads. Super annoying
I wonder if they updated that and that’s why mine didn’t show, not sure. But the delay I did get before I installed this. Now it’s gone, little to no delay wireless and no delay at all when corded
@@xVR30TTx very odd. I had a brand new 2018 and now I have a used 2018, both SS trim. New and used both had album art when plugged in using iPod mode. BT sucks on the car and the audio quality is low, it gets confused with how Apple Music now has different bitrates for quality. Somehow corded is a little clearer, but nothing is better than using a CD. My 2013 VW has a 6 disk changer, I wish the Q could hold more than one disk at a time.
@@Aspen910 have you checked your streaming settings in the music apps? most by default do lower quality when using cellular. I agree the bluetooth codec sucks. 🤣 😖
@@TheSonorabob yea that’s not the issue. I set all mine to high quality /lossless. The issue I believe is the higher quality today, that wasn’t around in 2018 in my OG Q50S and the music quality for the stereo was better then. Now in my new used 2018 it can sometimes sound like the treble is boosted and sound shitty or not from song to song depending. I think it doesn’t know what to do or how to translate it correctly.
@@Aspen910 I was afraid that would be the case. These mods use a different Bluetooth connection, right? Same, worse, better…? I’d think it could be better. Still not wired but hopefully passable. I hate using a cord but I hate the bad audio more.

@@xVR30TTxthe ones I’m looking at only have the 1 screen, not 2 like yours. Is that an upgrade you made? I assume this will work with the one screen in the 2020 qx60?
@@MrsAllyMariee yes they have many different options for different vehicles. The Q50s and Q60s only come with 2 screens and select newer QX60s have it as well

Unfortunately not. Some things happened and it’s been a little difficult working with the company. They have a great product but communication isn’t the best, as with most companies. Hopefully they’ll send another one and we can get that done!

2020 and newer have Carplay from Factory, 2019 and under just have Infiniti's ancient navigation.

Yes it should, they do make an option for the 2014. Hit up Merge Screens website and ask them to set you up with a module.
Does this work without the amplifier
Yes no amplifier needed
So does radio has built in amplifier trying to get one for my g25 journey 2012 trying see if I need to buy the amplifier that all

If it's a 2020 it should already come with Carplay. Unless yours is like mine and had a late manufacture date.

The screen got be the one whit built in navigation sistem from factory? My doesn't have it
I think there are options for ones with no Nav too if you look around.
Album artwork display is a setting on your phone and your car should 100% come with the SD card for poi
Also, you can purchase a rear view mirror mount and tap into your mirror power supply and clean up the radar detector … one of the most useful and clean things I did for my Q !
