I've never had the JTS Brown or Fighting Cock. I agree with the Evan Williams BIB..good mixer, but not really a sipper. I love the other bottles on both 👍👎lists. One bottle that would be in my top 5; is JW Dant BIB $15 great sipper or mixer.
These might not all be full-fledged budget bottles, but they're mine. -Knob Creek 9 yr bourbon (Costco 1.75 ltr for $52) -Knob Creek 7 yr rye (1.75 ltr $60-$65) -Cooper's Craft 100 (until my stock runs out - it's not available in my state) -Old Forester Rye -Old Grand Dad BiB and 114 (mid-$20s at Costco now) -Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye (currently selling for $29.99!) -Dickel Rye -EW 1783 (maybe - will have to revisit this one). -Woodford Reserve (Costco 1.75 liter makes it more budgetworthy.)
Good video. Very entertaining. On board with all of Jaime's picks except OF100. I've gone through 3 bottles and the acetone on the nose kills it for me.
After 45 - 50 years of drinking Wild Turkey 101, it's difficult to say anything bad about it. To be honest it has always been a go - to for me. OGD 114, Benchmark Full Proof, Buffalo Trace, and Cooper's Craft 100 Proof.
Haven’t had some of these, but I do like the Early Times BiB, the WT101. The Evan Williams Black 7 is ok, but my favorite budget bourbon is Old Grand-Dad 114. Getting hard to find in some places, but I can easily find it and usually between $22 - $30.
>Evan Williams SmB. Good affordable stuff. It's on the shelf everywhere. >Fighting Cock. I haven't even seen that in any store in my area. Doesn't seem like I'm missing much though. >JTS Brown. Another one we don't get here or at least not that I've seen. >JB Black 7 Year. I tried a bottle of this and I wasn't really impressed. For a 20% price increase and an age statement I was expecting an improvement over the older JB Black, not a downgrade. >ET BiB. This isn't available here but is in a nearby state thankfully. It just requires a road trip every so often. Wonderful bonded bourbon! Love the flavor profile! >JD No. 7. Hmm, I haven't drank that since college... >Benchmark SiB. Another product line we don't get in my area. I haven't managed to get any bottles yet but I'm planning on it next road trip to Illinois. >Evan Williams BiB. A wonderful cheap mixer option if you have no other choices. I think a handle runs about $30-35 in my area. For volume price, it can't be beat! >OF 100 proof. Now we're talking! That wonderful Old Forester dark bold flavor profile! I get sweet coffee and tobacco, cherry syrup, maple, vanilla, caramel, baking spices and a good amount of oak from this! It's great neat, on the rocks or mixed! >WT 101. This was a bottle early on in my bourbon journey. It's good value but I can't stand the overbearing peanut note, even with cherry in the flavor profile. You two are doing an Old Forester single barrel black label 100 proof barrel pick? That's awesome!
A lot of these are not available around here. We can get the OF100, WT101, JB 7Y, and of course JD #7. I seem to have similar taste buds as Jaime. I too am not a huge fan of the JB #7 or WT 101 but really like the OF 100 and the 86 as well. For that matter I have not had anything made by OF that I have not liked and I have tried quite a few. I do like RR 10Y which is a product of WT though. I would have to go with OF 100, Four Roses, JB Double Oaked, WT101, and Buillett as ones I do like. I would put OF 86 instead of WT101 but did not because I already had the 100. For ones I do not like I would go with EW white label, JD#7, JB white label, JB 7 YR, and Old Crow. I like the regular WT as well but not in the top 5.
I was a bit disappointed in Jim Beam 7. I found the flavors to be one dimensional and surprisingly delicate. A JB product I love is the Double Oak, see her in the low $20s or high $teens. I like Early Times BiB more than JTS. Some budget gems I like: I see Four Roses for $25. I routinely get Knob Creek 9 for under $20 at Costco. High West basic bourbon, I routinely see under $28. Cooper's Craft 100 is in the low $30s.
I agree on the disappointing JB Black 7 yr. I was looking forward to that maybe bringing back some of what the old 8 year "Double Aged" had. But alas, it did not. I will stick with the Knob Creek since I can get it for $52 a 1.75 at Costco.
Why do all of these "budget bourbon lists" seemingly ignore Dickel 8 Year Bourbon? Aged stated 8 years for very reasonable price. Hello! You can generally pick it up for sub to low 30s. Traditional bourbon tasting notes though a little thin. Great bottle that doesn't get enough recognition, IMHO.
Benchmark Single Barrel is really good. The full proof is good but 1792 full proof is much better but not the same animal. First try if OF 100 I thought it was horrible. Now not so much but have 1910 and 1920 on hand. Good review!!
Howdy folks! On my lower priced offerings- WT101..1783..Of 100..Early Times..OGD 114. Did not like the new Beam Black either. Jack in the full proofs,Bourbon and Rye. Saddle up!
I’m the opposite of Jaime. I do not like any old forester product, but I tend to really like and enjoy all wild turkey, except Russell’s 10 yr and Russel’s 6 yr rye.
I bet someone behind the bar doesn't like Texas whiskey. To not like WT101 is a clear sign of not liking bold whiskey. WT101 is relatively mild in my book, but I live in Texas and Texas whiskey is what I started my whiskey journey on just a couple of years ago. Love the channel and respect your opinions.
OF 100 is one of my favorites, along with Early Times bib, EW bib, 1783 and Fighting cock. I have an old bottle of FC when it was 6yrs + old and it's really good. Plus it was $18.99 😉👍Cheers 🥃
Would Cooperscraft, BFs “replacement” for Early Times qualify as cheap? (I’ve seen it as low as $20) If so, should have definitely been part of the lineup.
I love me some CC. Think it’s harder to find for us and more expensive maybe. We’ve never considered that a “budget” bottle but have not looked into it recently. Thank you for watching!
Y'all too are in Das Kommomwealth, so you know JTS 80° is available every day... and for $19.99 for A HANDLE?! ($17.99 on sale this month) ... * *insert Gob Bluth c'mon gif here* *
Opinions are like rear ends, everyone has one, and like rear ends, sometimes excrement comes out in opinions. WT101 is damn good at its price range, sometimes it takes down bottles in the next tier. Putting it at the bottom half is just nuts.
David totally agrees. Honestly I like(reach) for so many other bottles. WT101 is just not in my flavor wheel. I’m not hating on anyone for liking it. Decent mouthfeel and great price. Just not for me. Appreciate your opinion!
Of all the channels I watch, I finally found the person who I believe has the same palate as me! This list made me realize I need to follow Jamie's advice over David's. 😅 Great video and I totally agree with Jamie.
10 months ago you both tast old number 7 on : 11 top bourbons under $25, when you tast it blind. And now when you know its Jack, you guys don't like it?
This line up was my (Jaime) version of 5 I really like and 5 I don’t. David’s would be different. That blind we did was a joint agreement on whether it’s worth the “cost” and if we would buy it again. In the JD budgets I get a ton of peanuts which I’m not a fan of. I do enjoy JD when it’s older, higher proof, and yes most likely cost more. Appreciate your comment hope that helps explain.
I have been avoiding Jameson for many years. I typically do not enjoy what the "masses" go for. Today I picked up a 200ml bottle to give it a try. WHAT GARBAGE! I have had Vodkas with more flavor than Jameson. My wife and 20yo daughter were likewise exceedingly underwhelmed by this. Why do people drink this? I would take Red Label over this.
I really love OF 100 and Rebel 100 Wheated. I never hear anyone talk about Rebel, but for $21 it matches up well with other wheated bourbons. I like banana bread JD's and peanut shell JB's - but not the bottom shelf stuff - only at @ $40 and up level.
Budgets that I don’t like : Wild turkey, 101 Jim beam bib Jack Daniels (any) Early times 80 proof Ezra brooks I do like: Ancient age 90 proof Rebel 100 Benchmark bib Old Forrester 1910(favorite) Green river
The Wild Turkey 101 did nothing for me. The 3 rebuys for me are 100 proof Old Grand-Dad, 100 proof Early Times blue top, and 90 proof Bernheim Original. $21 to $31, including the Early Times 1 liter bottle.
Wild Turkey 101 is a great budget bottle...
David was pushing for it. So if it was his line up I think that would be high on his list. Appreciate you taking the time to comment.
Love
1. Mellow Corn
2. Wild Turkey 101
3. Old Grandad Bond
4. Benchmark Bond
5. Old Overholt
Hate
NONE
BEST answer yet 😂😂😂🥃🥃

-Old Grand Dad BiB and 114 (mid-$20s at Costco now)
-Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye (currently selling for $29.99!)
-Dickel Rye
-EW 1783 (maybe - will have to revisit this one).
-Woodford Reserve (Costco 1.75 liter makes it more budgetworthy.)
That’s a nice list!
Good video. Very entertaining. On board with all of Jaime's picks except OF100. I've gone through 3 bottles and the acetone on the nose kills it for me.
same. acetone is a signature smell of OF for me too.
Luv the small batch!!!!!
I love this dynamic. You both clearly have opposite opinions but all in good fun.
Thank you so much for watching!
JD old no.7 is why they have a BOTTOM SHELF 😂. GOOD REVIEW GUYS 😊
Thank you! It was fun.

Nice! We were out of OGD so we didn’t include it.
OF 100 bourbone and rye, Old grand dad 114 and BiB are great for Old fashioned. Early times 100 pretty good as well.
>Evan Williams SmB. Good affordable stuff. It's on the shelf everywhere.

You two are doing an Old Forester single barrel black label 100 proof barrel pick? That's awesome!
We are and I have to say, my whiskey dreams are coming true! I would be happy picking any barrel pick from OF, but a black label is really amazing.
It's been awhile since I've had WT101 but the last two (new label) had a definite funk that wasn't the best. I always have an ET BIB in the rotation.
A lot of these are not available around here. We can get the OF100, WT101, JB 7Y, and of course JD #7. I seem to have similar taste buds as Jaime. @@xiamengbaby - Costco is pretty underrated when it comes to whiskey.
I haven't had Fighting Cock, JB Black or Benchmark SB. I like all the others but ET BiB at only $21 a liter is my #1 mixer.
Could add Benchmark BIB as well. I love the WT101 and the new Beam Black. These are my go to price range bottles. Cheers!
💯
OF100 for the win!
WT 101 is the best budget Bourbon on the planet!
Why do all of these "budget bourbon lists" seemingly ignore Dickel 8 Year Bourbon? Aged stated 8 years for very reasonable price. Hello!

Appreciate the comment! Thank you!
101 is just a ridiculous bargain; serious whiskey, well aged, sweet, spicy, and rickhouse funky at a gift of a price.
Won’t argue with that! Cheers🥃
J.w Dant is 👑
101 is one of my favorites. In fact there isn’t a bottle on this list I don’t like!! Just me!! Enjoy!!🥃🥃🥃
Nothing wrong with that! We can still be friends 😂🥃
Howdy folks! On my lower priced offerings- WT101..1783..Of 100..Early Times..OGD 114. Did not like the new Beam Black either. Jack in the full proofs,Bourbon and Rye. Saddle up!
How can anyone not like WT101?
Not like is strong to say. My palate prefers sweeter. Thanks for watching!
Agree to disagree. Stand up for what you like. Thanks for the video.
Truth 🙌🏼
Ancient Age for Cocktails
Early times BB
Wild Turkey 101
Pendleton Midnight
Are my favorite value whiskeys.
I may have to try AA and PM. Cheers
I’m the opposite of Jaime. I do not like any old forester product, but I tend to really like and enjoy all wild turkey, except Russell’s 10 yr and Russel’s 6 yr rye.

You are not wrong. I don’t tend to love Texas whiskies. Although Rebecca Creek Spanish DO is a favorite of mine
OF 100 is one of my favorites, along with Early Times bib, EW bib, 1783 and Fighting cock. I have an old bottle of FC when it was 6yrs + old and it's really good. Plus it was $18.99 😉👍Cheers 🥃

Pretty clever guys...doing the "On the Barrel" thing. Agree with some your dislikes and most of the likes. I do think Fighting Cock is a decent sipper
I’ll take OF 100, Old GrandDad BIB, 114 and JTS Brown over WT 101
love
Old Early times BIB
Old Grandad 114
benchmark series
very old barton
Don't love
Mellow Corn
Jack (anything below bonded)
evan williams bib
I'd rather use Old Forester 100 over Jack with that Coke.
You had me at OF100🤷🏼♀️😂😂
About time we saw some arguing good for the relationship
Healthy arguing never hurts😂😂

Yes!!

That means a lot. Appreciate the comment
I love how transparent you both are. Sorry Dave. I agree with Jamie 👍
Awww thanks
10 months ago you both tast old number 7 on : 11 top bourbons under $25, when you tast it blind. And now when you know its Jack, you guys don't like it?
This line up was my (Jaime) version of 5 I really like and 5 I don’t. David’s would be different. That blind we did was a joint agreement on whether it’s worth the “cost” and if we would buy it again.

Definitely in line with Jamie. I myself am not a WT101 fan. Great video!
Thank you!
I won't buy WT 101 again. I have a few ounces left and it's just too peppery. Pass.
Budgets that I don’t like :
Wild turkey, 101
Jim beam bib
Jack Daniels (any)
Early times 80 proof
Ezra brooks
I do like:
Ancient age 90 proof
Rebel 100
Benchmark bib
Old Forrester 1910(favorite)
Green river
Some you mentioned I may have to revisit! Thanks for sharing
The Wild Turkey 101 did nothing for me. The 3 rebuys for me are 100 proof Old Grand-Dad, 100 proof Early Times blue top, and 90 proof Bernheim Original. $21 to $31, including the Early Times 1 liter bottle.
