      After I noticed that a backhand lettering stroke didn't require as much brain power control as pulling the brush in towards me , the wrist will naturally swipe out and away in an arch without thinking , it became a life long habbit. I used to be able to knock out a casual front about as fast as with a pen on paper and drink a beer at the same time.

    I love watching this stuff. Great job. I’m about 6 months in. I got a long way to go. I have realized how you mix and pallet the paint is so much of a big part of it

    • @rickbendi8709
      @rickbendi8709  3 года назад +9

      Thank you. I never really realized that. 🤔 But it’s all about the correct amount of paint and feel . Remember to keep changing the pallet. (It prevents build up. ). Keep plugging away.also save your old designs. You can see your progress. Stay passionate. Thanks again!!!

      @@rickbendi8709 Just to let you know,I had no mentor,years ago, if a Pinstriper saw you watching them with the intent of learning ,they would lay the brush down and walk away, or worse, When I decided to get involved I always thought to help other young artists get involved in this fantastic art form ,so after over forty years I’ve been on the design and development side of the trade brushes, including an unbelievable set of lettering brushes, that feel like they would do it themselves,just hang on! I’m very proud of my brushes, everything, price , durability,perfect chiseled corners, actually fun to use, and less than half of what I’ve paid when no other choices were available. All of my friends, like John Hannukaine, use them before they grab the brushes with their own names on the handles ! I thought that was the best compliment ever!

    Rick, Did you know Jack Highman? He was out of Loves Park , Il. He painted all the cars at the Indy 500, and the stock cars in the Rockford area. I worked with him at Rockford Speedway for years and later when I was in my late teens I worked on his cars at a garage in town. A little quirky, but a great guy. Been 50 years ago now. And yes I had him stripe and letter my race bikes and my trailer. Awesome work there. Something I always wanted to do, but I DO NOT have the touch. Really enjoy your work.
