If I'm doing a larger surface area, can i spray clear as adhesion instead of brushing? I'm planning to use urethane paint as well since I'm doing it on a sidecar😅
I’ve never sprayed the sizing. You would have to thin it out, im not sure that would be good. I always use it straight. Use a 1” fitch to brush the glue, you can cover a lot of space with that. If you do spray it, do a sample first. Good luck. Thanks for watching 😎
@@rickbendi8709 thank you for responding! I'm still new in custom painting and I mainly use urethane as it's what I've proven to be the best. My work focuses on motorcycles. It's a bit hard finding detailed tutorials like yours so it's really a great help!

What type of paint would you recommend using as the base coat on a wooden floor (i.e., latex or oil, etc.) Then, after the gel stain, what would you recommend for the top coat since it would be a floor? I'd hugely appreciate your recommendations. Thank you again for sharing your technique and beautiful work! 😊
@@sheilaquattrocchi9274 🤔I never did it on a floor. I would ask a paint store representative about a durable clear coat. Maybe a acrylic clear would work 🤷♀️try a few samples and test its durability. Thank you for your kind words. And thanks for watching

@@eross21 I use Ronan lettering enamels. I thin it sparingly with mineral spirits. Clean up with the same. Thank you for watching 😎
@@rickbendi8709 very cool. yeah i’m actually looking at using this for screen printing on guitar pedals. apparently a lot of guys use sign painting and pinstriping paint instead of ink when printing on metal. i’m gonna give it a try. I tried pinstriping a long time ago when I was airbrushing racing helmets. i could never get my paint to flow for very long. you make it look so easy. nice work
@@eross21 I’ve done lots of striping on merat. It works and holds up great. As for thinning… it all a mater of feel. You don’t want it to thin, or to thick. Just play with it. You’ve done it before so I’m sure you’ll be great at it!!!

It will hold up fine, that vehicle will not see a lot of weather or abuse. I would not use that clear on an everyday vehicle , I would use an automotive urethane. But the enamel paint will be great. I use that to letter trucks and pinstripes thanks for watching 😎

A very pleasing video .... very pleasing. I started out hand lettering and always have done a bit of it, but got shifted over to vinyl and digital for the most part. Now I have to letter a 1940's vehicle so I have been obsessing about that. They request me to use hardener so One Shot will cure faster and it can be ceramic coated. I never used hardener before. Anyways, watching you work your magic and listening to the background music was calming to me. Thanks for the video. BTW, do you have any idea which background music you used?
Thank you for the kind words! Let me just say you don’t need to use hardener to have the lettering ceramic coated. My customers ceramic coat my jobs, and I never use hardener . I don’t like the way the paint flows with hardener. So I choose never to use it. And my Ronan enamel holds up just fine. I’m sure 1 shot will also. I would let the paint cure for 10 days after lettering ,before ceramic coating over it. As for the music… my son does my editing, I’m not good with computers 😬it’s a free background music you can get on line. Thanks again for watching and good luck with your lettering!!!😎

Do you have or could you show a video of what to do when you need to clean off a line? Ill eventually be doing a lot of long, straight lines on my car and i know ill need to do it at least once! 😂
I’ll try to. But in the meantime, let’s say you make a mistake…you take a rag with a lil mineral spirits on it and remove the bad spot. Then re do it. I still make mistakes. Have fun😁

🤭sorry. But , I can help anyone get better at pinstripes or lettering by telling them one word. “ Practice “. That would make a pretty boring video. So the best I can do is give tips on how to practice. I never had the internet when I was learning. I couldn’t watch anyone doing it, how to hold the brush or mix the paint. I just know that I wanted to be the best I could be at this. For a novice this might seem out of reach. But it is possible to achieve with practice. So… are you ready to be the best you could be? Just start doing it and you’ll get there! Thanks for watching 😎
Wondering how durable is it after applying the dux? Can it be power washed or just hand wash after?
I usually put 2 coats of clear on. Wait 24 hours in between coats. It can be waxed … but I would avoid pressure washing . I tell my clients not to pressure wash. Thank you😎
Rick this is amazing! I am also going to paint a truck soon and am wondering what paint you use for this and what you use to seal the paint so that it lasts?
Thank you. I use Ronan lettering enamel. Thin with mineral spirits. I don’t use anything to seal the paint . Just make sure the surface you’re working on is clean, and wax free. Use wax and grease remover to clean surfaces. You should get a nice dry squeak when you rub your fingers on it. ( I don’t letter or stripe anything that has been ceramic coated) the trucks I do are parked outside and after 5 years they still look good. Have fun! Thanks for watching 😎

What kind of color is good to draw on a car without being affected?
I use a blue Stabillo All pencil for light color cars and a white Stabillo All pencil for dark color cars.( for sketching the design). Then I pinstripe the car. After the paint dries I use windex to remove the sketches. I hope this what you mean. Thanky for watching 😎
Also I sketch very light as not to score the vehicle paint.

May I ask what’s the grue? Which kind of Enamel?
The glue ,or “sizing” is like a varnish. I use DUX quick dry sizing . The paint i use Ronan lettering enamel . Then I put a coat of the same Dux sizing over the top of the gold leaf for protection. Thank you for watching 😁👍
