- Local 12 President Bruce Baumhower said Stellantis' announcement of potential layoffs was not a reaction to the UAW's strike, but rather because of emissions laws.
unions are full of idiots, just strike their way right out of a job, hows that raise look now , thats the only reason car makers caved because they knew they could just lay them off

They won't be able to use the old excuse of "supply issues" to try and sell vehicles to consumers at crazy high prices. Well folks! Go and demand higher wages to assemble vehicles people can't afford...you had it coming to you!
They’re now getting rid of American engineers and replacing them with Indian and Brazil engineers. Lower cost. I don’t get why they think this would end well.

Brilliant solution.. that worked in 2008 for our plant in a similar situation..abd all these folks cheering for the demise of "Shawn" or the average worker. They negotiated layoff language so the company will still be paying for these folks for years...so its not really what you silly folks think it is. They are protected under the contract.

They aren’t protected from being laid off if the company is taking in a loss and cannot pay them. 2H 2023 sales were weak and they are expected to weaken much more. Those record profits they were crying about were the result of ‘21 and ‘22 greed which has now caught up to them. Contract or no, when there is no money, the big three cannot print bills.
@@KubanKevin yeah, NOT one worker in the world is protected from a failing company...the cpmpany may be failing but not because fo the wage structure...that is all done with decision making (by management)..they may be making all the wrong decisions for all the wrong reasons...seen it 100x in my 40 years or repping people..and at least they have a few years of earning before the company economic terrorists attack working people. The diffrence between them and you is, they have some protection , you have youtube to drop your silly comments once your laid off..
