Thank you very much for sharing this with us. For those with length questions I did mine with 13 “hills” starting and ending with a valley and it made a nice sized throw of 53” before border. (Worsted size 4 yarn and an I (5.5mm) hook).👍
I was watching trailers for the show "Breaking Amish" and admiring Mary's Beautiful Crocheted Afghans..wondering if there was a GOOD Tutorial and I get on Pinterest and Viola!!! There YOU Were!! KISMET! >>>I Cannot Wait to Get to The Yarn Store and Get Started!..Thank You For the Easy Peasy Tutorial!!! ~Peaches in Colorado
I have made several afghans but I did mine a little different.I made four rows instead of three.I so enjoyed your version of Mary’s afghan. Thanks so much.
Always reminds me of a forest and the sun hitting the tops of the trees and the shadow down on the bottom. So beautiful. I love ripples but this version is stunning.
I am SO grateful that you posted this! Sometimes the written instructions sound so confusing but to watch you, it seems very easy. Thank you! It is beautiful!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this wonderful tutorial! I appreciate all the time and effort you put into it. I have been trying to follow the Liesure Arts written pattern and I'm sure there's a mistake in it regarding ending rows and turning. You show exactly how to do that. Thank you so much!
I am so glad you did this video. Like you I even took pictures of my tv trying to make it on my own. I am doing it in the blues for a friend with cancer to cheer her up, then I might try others.
I LOVE her Afghans! There was one in pinks that I'm DYING to make! It'sso exciting discovering Tutorials based on Marys' Afghans we see on TV! Thank you!
Thank you for this video you are a great teacher. I'm making the Afghan Ms Mary was crocheting I love ❤❤❤the show breaking Amish's just waiting on the new season..
Oh good... I fell totally in live with it. two and just had to re-create it I'm so glad that you enjoyed it please be sure to subscribe to my channel so you can be informed my new videos are being made.... I'm releasing one today for the Drink Mitt that's in the intro video thanks so much for watching!!!! Kris
Thank you for this video. I just started watching, "Return to Amish" and I saw Mary working on the purple afghan with the blue one behind her. I didn't know the name of the stitch, so I looked and looked for the stitch that resembled the stitch that she was doing. I found one video that called it the V stitch, I see why, but I knew that her pattern was in the chevron pattern. I looked for the V stitch in a chevron pattern and your video came up. Thanks again for the video. I would like to do different browns, then a purple one.
I'm on my second one. The first one was done in purple and this one will be in blues with the blacks and whites. thank you so much for your tutorially...
Your video was a huge help. I have the written pattern but couldn't figure out the turning of my work to the next row. I kept adding to the end. Thanks so much Kris.
Very good! As a great-grandma I wanted to take your hand and say, "no honey" but you caught your mistake! You did an excellent job of ripping out and fixing your mistake as opposed to just covering it up!!! And by the way, I've been wanting to learn this pattern for a good year or two. Thank you so much for showing us! My grands and great-grands will be getting some afghans! Maybe I'll start with my great-great-granddaughter who is 2 years old!!!
Absolutely fantastic! I really appreciate your teaching style: showing yourself building it and talking through mistakes, things not to worry about, tips on what to look for, etc. These just make us better at crochet in general! You have a disarming & funny sense of humor, and I can't wait to see more of your videos. I have subscribed! Thanks again for investing your time! :) Meg
Hi Thank you so much for making this video. I've been looking for a tutorial for years. My grandmother made a similar afghan years ago before died. I found it in her basement after she passed away was trying recreate but couldn't figure it out. Thank you.
How wonderful! I'm sorry for your loss, how wonderful you have a afghan made by her!!! So amazing. Glad you found this tutorial....send me a pic of the colors you choose to make...would LOVE to see! Thanks for the comment...it made my day!
beautiful work! I've been trying to find her pattern forever! TY! I'd love to find her color choices too. I was looking at the purple one she was working on recently. Your's looks great!
Got my afghan done FINALLY and even sold it on Ebay! I must say...I'm already broken hearted! I don't like to part with anything I make...unless I specifically set out to do so! LOL It came out absolutely STUNNING! Thank you sooooo much for your video tutorial! I even have an order to make another one with different colors. Don't much like the colors SHE chose because I like the gradual shading of the blue one and the colors she chose aren't going to be "gradual" but whatever. As long as SHE likes it! Thank you so much again! I'd like to post a pic of my afghan but I'm not seeing where I can do that! Oh well! :-)
Thank you so much for your tutorial! I've been wanting to make this for over a year!! You're a superstar (and I love your nails too lol😃) I now have the hang of this and I'm so excited, only rookie problem I had was not chaining enough to account for the design 😬 but it's all a learning curve😜 makes life more interesting!? X
This is such a beautiful afghan & you have done a great job in recreating it. I've made many of your other items, all explained so clearly. I would like to make one for a queen size bed, do you have any idea on how many stitches I would need to make this? Thanks you. Don't stop posting.
Love the stitch ... I've seen two versions of this , one version as you are doing it with two double crochets and the other version using three double crochets.... I'm wondering what is the difference in the look of the pattern with the different versions
Great video I am probably the only guy that has posted but it really does look like Marys afghan . I was trying to find one to buy did find one to buy from Jeremiah but I am going to try to do this and same me money . so if I want to make it larger I would do 19 19 19 tell I get to the length I want then just add 5 more right ? thanks for video
I have no sound on my computer but LOVE your version of Mary's afghan. I am in desperate need for a printable version, though. Is it posted anywhere? I'm afraid that my brain fog from my MS gets me confused many times and having it in print would help me along! Thank you for sharing your absolutely stunning work!
No...I never did. I finally did "get" what she way saying, so no problem anymore! It really is a beautiful pattern and I'm so happy she shared it with us!!
Any chance could you post pictures of the ends of the blanket so I could see what Im doing wrong? I love this pattern and this video, I just seem to be messing up on both ends :(
I love this! Thank you for sharing it. Do you do anything special to finish off the last row? I look forward to your written pattern; I really do much better with those. You've inspired me - I want to make several in different colors!
Loved your tutorial! I made one in shades of brown; would love to send a photo. My edge side (opposite of changing color side) was a little sinched, though.I did a row of single crochet then a slip stitch on both sides to finish the edges. Anyone else have trouble with edge?
I have watched the other help video about the ends but I still have questions. Where I am confused is that I noted 2 ways of ending a row. When changing color you went into the top of the double crochet (mark 23:00) (last stitch of the previous color) and when turning with no color change you go into the top of the chain 3 (mark 14:00). If I'm not changing colors every 2 rows should I still alternate going into the double crochet versus the chain 3? I'm well into a blanket and it just doesn't seem right how I have it.
I have been playing with this and replaying and typing out the pattern and would like to question several areas: ROW 2: last chain is a CH 3 when others are CH2 - ROW 3: Last chain is a CH 3 when others are also a CH 2 - ROW 4: Many references to CH 3 when others are CH 2. I have made all my changes to CH 2 and would like this confirmed please - love the pattern and appreciate the time you took to help us out
Hi Kris I've watched this video many times, and I'm learning the stitch at last, the only problem I have is at the end one side looks good but the other side not so good. What am I doing wrong?Thank you for this video.
try using three double crochets instead of two. it will make it thicker. I think you would like it better. Use four rows of each color and it will make it more dramatic. Other than that i like your tutorial. Thanks, Karla
LOVE THIS!! I have been looking for a pattern. Thank you for sharing. Can I ask, how long is yours, or how many peaks did you make across one row? thanks again.
Well, just sold a second afghan. Shipped it out today. I'd love to attach a picture of the colors I used (it was colors that the woman requested). It came out beautiful! Is there any way to get a picture attached so I can show you how they came out??

peggy horton I used to have this problem and my work also turned out smaller than any pattern I did because I crocheted too tight, had to make sure I left it rather loose, I think it is because I used to mainly knit where everything is much tighter.
Hi, loved your video. A little too fast for me. Guess what I found in my old pile of pattern books..Leisure arts pamphlet has the afghan on the cover in graduating colors of brown and green. one more question how many chains for the afghan that you made and do you add on 5 chains please answer this because i want to make this afghan thank you
19 chains over and over until you have it as wide as you want it then add 5, is how I did mine. count was the same as hers when I did the first row after the chain so it must be right. lol.
Very hard to follow video for a couple reasons. One being when zooming in and staying zoomed in felt like I was going cross eyed....needed to back off a little, especially when crocheting fast or at least back off and show what progress was made to give viewers perspective of what theirs should look like. Second thing was the first row, with no written pattern to refer to the video was cut off and then back on in the middle of how the valley is suppose to be done and until a workable way is figured out the rest of pattern cannot be done. Yours looks great hope mine turns out as good. Maybe having another person reviewing/editing would help :)
Thank you for your video it was helpful but my only problem is the beginning and ending of each row I seem to be adding stitches if you can help I would be so thankful

How many skeins of yarn do you need for a personal size Afghan
Hi Kris Were you ever able to write out the pattern for this? I need to read the pattern and then watch how to do it. Thanks so much!!

How many chains do you make for a full size afghan? Do you stop with the shell or the valley?

Hi, loved your video. A little too fast for me. Guess what I found in my old pile of pattern books..Leisure arts pamphlet has the afghan on the cover in graduating colors of brown and green. You know old the pamphlet is by looking at the price..Was $2.00. Thank you for all your help. Joyce Angelo.....
Joyce, Could you share the name/number of the Leisure Arts Pamphlet? Thank you so much!
How many of each color do you need?
Did you make a border on it?
How many chains do you make for a good size afghan?
I just have a quick question what did you mean by 2 set of 19?
please can you tell me how to do the edging at the top and bottom of this pattern thanx
How do you finish this off without having the open spaces at the top?
my question is how do you change colors without having so many tails to weave in at the end
I'm a bit confused about how much to chain to do this afghan .. can you help ?
Rosemary Assante it looks like each peak is chain 19 so depending on how wide you want it its multiples of 19 plus 5 chain at the end. Example 10 peaks would be 19×10+5=195 chain. 20 peaks is 19×20+5=385 chain.
Did u ever get the pattern written out for this?
How much yarn do I need to make this?
where can i get a copy of the pattern from. x
Leisure arts.com "Lacy Chevron Afghan pattern" or buy the Booklet of Afghans"
suzesas is the name of the book actually "booklet of afghans" and where can I purchase it?
I love this video but it's hard to follow as I am right handed and the camera angle is backwards
It is a "pamphlet" from Leisure Arts, a pattern out of print, which Leisure Arty has now brought back for sale. I ordered online a leisurearts.com
the actual pattern is called Lacey Chevron from Leisure Arts...you can get it individually or in a book
what are the exact colors you used for marys afghan?
How do you FINISH the afghan (edges)?????
Thank you

one more question how many chains for the afghan that you made and do you add on 5 chains please answer this because i want to make this afghan thank you
19 chains over and over until you have it as wide as you want it then add 5, is how I did mine. count was the same as hers when I did the first row after the chain so it must be right. lol.
Where can I find the written pattern?
Thank you!
Need to show how u start it with the chain
why do you switch to white on second row if each color has two rows. are you counting the beginning chain as a row

video has no sound for me , don't think it is my end . :(
Thank you for your video it was helpful but my only problem is the beginning and ending of each row I seem to be adding stitches if you can help I would be so thankful
