You guys are great I can smell what your cooking through my computer coming from an Italian home growing up in Brooklyn coming home from church you can walk past any house and smell what everyone’s having for dinner! I’m sure you have a lot of neighbors stopping by for some good ole Italian food! Mangia 🍷
We would always put provolone on the bread first and then put the meatballs and sauce and a “sprinkle” of Pecorino Romano on top. Keep up the Great work you’s guys!!! -Nick Giardiello
The closest thing to me is Jimmy’s Italian Grocery…the same Jimmy’s the Brooklyn Brothers talk about in their videos. They have great sandwiches in their deli, but since I moved out of the city, it’s a bit of a trek to stop by there anymore. I miss it tremendously. Once in a while on a Saturday, however, I’ll take the time to go in to Dallas to get one.
It’s so refreshing to hear you guys laughing! Since I’m making the spaghetti and meatballs next Saturday, I’ll be knocking out the meatball sub Sunday!! I’ve never had the egg onion and zucchini sandwich but, will be trying that one too! These all look great!!! Oh, someone send these guys a decent pepper mill!
I live in New Hampshire. You can't find a decent sub here like Massachusetts. Use to have a friend that owned a sub shop and loved the pepper and eggs!! I would buy them everything I got a sub!! He made the best ones. Everyone would laugh at me eating them all the time. Haven't had one in years. When I heard you making them I was excited!! Someone understands!!! Lol!!!
yep, different all over. In Philly a grinder is a hoagie toasted.......lol. Funny no matter where you go, what ever they call it you know what they talking about.
The Sausage and Pepp Hero you jammed it up Brooklyn Style the way i do it no cutting into "Quarters" i even make it Parm. Lucy's 18th Avenue Feast Style 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Thanks once again guys! I love how you both get genuinely excited more & more as your dishes get closer to being done. You both start laughing and telling stories and simply having a great time. God bless you always 🙏 ❤️ ✝️ Victor & my daughter Izzy from Langley City, BC, Canada 🇨🇦
Fantastic delicious subs for the upcoming Super Bowl or any time....gotta get shopping for the ingredients.....good thing i live near Arthur Avenue in the Bronx!!!
I LOVE Italian food. Growing up in the Bronx, NY and being surround by Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn allowed many options to choose from for authentic Italian food had me spoiled. Now living in the South there are a very limited amount of options for authentic Italian food. I stubbled on you guys channel and I happy that I did. I am going to attempt to make these wonderful subs. I came for the sausage and peppers, the Italian way and you guys did not disappoint 💪💪💪💪🙌🙌. The all look delicious!!! New Sub here.
pazzesco bene...awesome! NJ is divided on their terminology. Northern New Jersey as you get close to NYC they call them "subs", As you go south and get closer to Philly they call them "hoagies". Heroes are strictly NYC born. The term grinder is used mostly around New England, especially Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. A grinder in Philly is sub or hoagie that is toasted. The term hoagie is strictly from the jawn (Philly). Years ago the city of Philadelphia had a two ports and ship building industry. One of the yards was called "hog Island". Also a famous Revolutionary garrison was attacked by the British, the garrison was housed at place called Fort Mifflin The soldiers at Fort Mifflin were extremely outnumbered, yet they fought valiantly for nearly 6 weeks. It has been said that within one hour, 1000 cannonballs were fired at the fort. Finally on November 15, 1777, the surviving American soldiers were out of ammunition so they set the fort on fire and evacuated. This is where the present day Philadelphia Airport is. The address for the Fort Mifflin park is 6400 Hog Island Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19153. Back in the day that area was undeveloped and had no housing or infrastructure, just the shipyard. If you were a dock hand or shipwright and didn't pack a lunch that day, you went hungry. The Italian immigrants from South Philly found out about this and would load cold sandwiches on carts and take them to the shipyard to sell. As they arrived to docks they would announce their presence (in broken English) "hey Hoggies". The word mutated to the present day "hoagie". Growing up in Philly some of the very old Philadelphians would still call them "hoggie". Year ago you would say hoagie and someone would correct you "it's called a hoggie"! Here is a link that gives you details about Hog Island: americanhistory.si.edu/collections/nmah_844383#:~:text=Hog%20Island's%2050%20shipways%20stretched,yard%20employed%20around%2030%2C000%20workers. It's a safe site from the Smithsonian. Sorry about the long post, Brooklyn Bro's rock. Hitting the subscribe button and smashing the thumbs up.
@@BrooklynBrothersCooking thank you for the video..keep them coming. Here's a interesting twist, during the Feast of San Gennaro feature the artisan cooks and the small shop vendors. Everybody knows about the best seller like pizza, pasta, calzones, gelato, and cheese and sausage and peppers. What about Zeppole, Cannoli, Braciole .The not so famous NYC Italian treasures. Also, how about at Christmas the Feast of the seven fishes. And the way Christmas is celebrated in the Italian community. Just some suggestions.
I grew up in Hoboken cross the river from NYC and thought food heaven was a classic Italian hero with a splash of wine vinegar and olive oil .....until my dad took me to the Feast of San Gennaro in Little Italy and I got to try my first Sausage and Pepper Hero which was true heaven ... I'm in Arizona now and these Hicks actually put mayo on an Italian Sub ...what a nightmare
Hoagies, deli sub, free style meat & pepper.meatballs parmigiana.. I tried all and Italian Sandwiches are the best of the best , do delicious, juicy and very filling.. Mama Mia..You rock Italians, Italians are the best..Thank you Sir. You are a great Chef' indeed.. 😋😋😋👍🧑🍳😋😋😋
As always, great video. It's a taste of home. I grew up in NY and live in Central Texas. Nobody here knows how to make really good bread! Can you guys show us how you make the sub rolls? I know you have an Italian Bread recipe and pizza dough recipe, but couldn't find a sub roll video on your channel.
All looking delicious as usual, I do the sausage peppers and onions on the bbq throw the peppers onions and some fresh garlic in a foil tray with some olive oil
This is one I hadn't heard-The spuckie sandwich is how Bostonians call their local variety of the Italian sandwich. The spuckie is built inside a long and pointed Italian bread roll called spucadella. It's made with cured meat, sliced cheese, fresh salad, and olive oil or vinaigrette
Hello Brooklyn 😎👋🏻 Amazing sandwiches 🤩 The XXL Jumbo meatballs sandwich is absolutely insane 😅😅😅 In France we would give one of those Godzilla sandwich to 8 people 👍👍👍 I wish you a pleasant weekend 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
All look excellent! I recently did a NYC Pizzaria style dressing video on my page that would go great on that deli hero! You guys have me drooling right now!
OMG thank you for telling me about Jimmy’s in Dallas 😭😭❤️ I’m going next week to check it out and I can’t wait. I just moved to Texas from New Jersey and I miss real Italian food soooo much😭 I can’t even find a decent loaf of Italian bread anywhere and don’t even get me started on the Italian sausage here lol. Your channel makes me feel like I’m home again.
You guys got me dreaming for those subs. Love the way you make them great bread. I have to settle for Jersey Mikes out here. I wish I could get great Italian bread out here, but no luck. I'm from Rochester NY but now I moved upstate near Plattsburgh and there is nothing out here that I can get in Rochester. Thanks for the tease of great subs. can you see my tears? lol. Torture to watch these great subs from you and Dom. Thanks for sharing big thumbs up...
Is fry pepper and egg sub part of an Italain hero sub? I don't know why I got the seven fish Christmas Eve dinner popping in my head when watching this video.😊😊 But after watching you make all these awesome Italain Sub I'm thinking of a seven Italain subs meal.😂😂.
you guys are completely nuts. no mercy at all whatsoever. dishing out massive amounts of torture !!! I'm here in the Philippines and we can't get these delicious Italian sandwiches here. some Italian restaurants here have some good sandwiches but not what your cooking. fedex me some Italian subs, hogies, sausage and peppers etc. sandwiches. send it to the Philippines asap. 😂
What brand of Genoa salami is that? I've never seen Genoa salami with that much fat in it. From what I'm used to, you can hardly tell the difference between hard salami and Genoa, because the fat content is about the same. Whatta ya guys do eh? Have the zucchini sub for breakfast, the Italian sub for lunch and either the sausage or meatball sub for dinner!! I'm movin' in wit you guys! Damn! I got slobber all over my keyboard because I'm drooling so bad! LOL!! Thanks guys!!
A sub or grinder is just a cold cut sandwich if it is not oven-baked to bring out the flavors of the fatty meats. Italian subs should have at least some sausage-style meats, and if not baked or toasted, the meats are wasted.

The outside world will never know what sandwiches are like on the East Coast. In Jersey its a Hoagie in NYC its a Hero. 🙏
So true. No Italian markets where I live. I miss them so much. Would like to be able to just walk into one and smell the aroma.
In the 60's West end New Rochelle, NY it was a 'Wedge'!

I heard of it.
The sleeper hero is the Egg and Pepper, my Dad would drive us to the White House in Atlantic City for them.

So delicious
The 'Wedge'!
Growing up in Italian west New Rochelle, NY it was only known as a Wedge, I wonder, is it the only area that calls a sub, a 'Wedge'?
Honestly, I’ve never heard of a wedge.
No it's also called that in Erie and Pittsburgh PA. It like a toasted panini with lunch meat here (now living about 45 minutes east of Pittsburgh.)
I love everything you make. Do you have anything from diabetes and high blood pressure recipes,?"please share int in hospital with a mild stroke
Sorry to hear that. Get well!

Yes, Dom was partners with Jack at their Ft Worth location.
I followed Jacks channel. Always enjoyed him. Was looking forward to a trip to Connecticut to meet him. A great loss, very sad.
It truly is. The man had a heart of gold.

LMAO!
I bet those onions and peppers are smelling awful good and looks yummy.
