My single favorite punisher story. Garth pushes Punisher's code to the absolute extreme between justice or the end of humanity, and Punisher doesn't hesitate for a second.

Arguably the best Punisher comic ever. I bought it off the racks. Didn't know it was coming out. Corben never ceases to amaze.

"Once upon a time there were a bunch of evil fucks." One of my favorite lines from one of my favorite marvel issues ever. Ennis and Corben, what could be better? This was actually my fist exposure to Corben that I can recall. Thank you guys for covering it and please cover more of Ennis' Punisher MAX run. Its the best book Marvel published since the silver age.

I love it when I can avoid the "kayfabe effect" by already owning the issue. I'm glad you guys covered this one because it's one of my favorites from back in the day.

This was the first time I truly got the full effect of Richard Corben. Great anatomy atmosphere and uses heavy dark ink to its absolute strength.

You guys NEED to do more Punisher MAX, it's my favourite comic run. Born is just fantastic, as are multiple other stories like Slavers, Valley Forge etc.
I've learned so much from you guys as someone quite new to comic history. This channel is wonderful!

The Ennis MAX run is (and was) oddly overlooked considering the quality and the fact that he did something like 90 issues of it, plus another 20 of the Jason Arron/Steve Dillon continuation.

Slavers, widow maker, Punisher Platoon especially the last page and Dear Billy is also next level. God when Ennis is serious and brings his A-game he really can't be messed with. Corben work Azzarello is pretty cool. There's a Hulk book, a pretty cool Luke Cage and finally Hardtimes which is Johnny Constantine in an episode of Oz.

Ennis MAX books were the closest Marvels been to outlaw. You should look at his first Nick Fury MAX.

That Spider-Man comic Ennis did with McCrea is both true to that character, surprisingly for a writer who doesn't like long underwear characters, and also pretty horrific. Another great last man on Earth comic is John Wagner, Alan Grant, and Mick McMahon's the Last American.

I’ve definitely been looking at single issues with a more critical eye since I found your channel, and I agree that this is a perfect example of what you can accomplish in a single issue. I’ve never read this issue and I’m admittedly not much of a Punisher fan but I’m very impressed after watching you guys go through it.

The reg nuclear bomb has a fallout area of about 40-50 miles, total destruction from 2-5 miles, all radiation will fall to the earth in 3-4 weeks. In Japan the survivors lived on the perimeter of the blast area.

Dale Keown drew Hulk The End. I remember the writing being insanely melodramatic, but the art was fantastic.

Just gotta chime in and agree with everyone else here, this is a dream team and a perfectly done comic. My favorite writer paired with my favorite artist!! There are some other really great MAX Punisher one shots that Ennis did; you guys should really check out “The Cell”, that one is amazing. And as fun as his Marvel Knights run was, the ongoing MAX series is up there in my top favorite 3 series of all time. If you haven’t read the issues with Goran Parlov on art duties (specifically the Barricuda arc and and subsequent mini series) you dudes will love em!

Since I believe "Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe" was Ennis's first crack at the character, it was totally fitting he did his final story. And what better way to memorialize everyone’s favorite vigilante than having him punish the human race? For me, Garth's Punisher is THE Punisher; everyone else's rings hollow; so here's hoping Disney at least hires Garth as consultant when they officially bring Frank into the MCU...LOL! Oh, and what a loss to the comic world when Rich Corben passed: the man was a true link between underground comix, black-and-white mags, independents, and mainstream comics. Can't think of another artist who worked in every level of the industry to the extent Rich did. One of the underappreciated greats.

As much as The Punisher has become a darling of the radical right, I feel like in the context of this story, he's less of a fascist and more a revolutionary who's just really easily distracted. He wants to get rid of people who spread injustice, but there's so many petty thugs hurting innocent people in his path that he doesn't get around to killing the ones really responsible until everybody else is dead.
