- Here's a review of the Glock 19 Compensated (C) model. Since this gun will be discontiued soon (JAN2014) I wanted to get a review up for those on the fence. I do some day shooting, night shooting, and discuss the pros/cons of the compensated models.

I have had a 19c for years and it is accurate and my favorite gun to carry. It has never misfired. Good video.
Great video debunking the MYTH that ported barrels will "blind" you at night. Thx for posting!
Had no idea they were now discontinued. Bought one in 09 as a ccw piece, ended up being one of my favorite range guns too.
+Azrael Tyree indeed
Just got one
Good job demonstrating how much of a myth the compensated night blindness isnt an issue at all. In fact your light is exponentially brighter than the gasses from the pistol. The 19C is one of the few "C" models that I do not own and I plan to change that very soon before the inventory left is sold out. Great demmo and review.
Jeremy Lewis Thanks.
Glock 19C Pros and Cons
Pro: Most awesome Glock ever made
Con: Too awesome for internet douchebags
That may be two pros......yep....no cons whatsoever
Best review video on this pistol I have seen yet. Thank you for taking the time to make this. Just recently got a 19c and all the internet phobias are all but gone. Thanks agajn
Saw you commented on my Glocktalk thread. Nice channel. Keep up the good work!
Good to see an explanation from an expert. Read a lot of things on forums on the net, nothing close to this. I'm about to get a Jericho compensated 941. I had doubt about the normal version or the compensated, I will definitely get the compensated, thanks.
you're welcome
I posted earlier that I just bought agen4 19c. Well I finally shot it, I even fired it from some close quaters retention positions and I never got burned. I did feel some extra warmth from the ports coming up on to my chin but it was a non factor in my shooting. The 9mm is already a mild shooter this just makes follow up shots that much quicker. I'm glad I bought it and I will be carrying it.
Also I fired over 50 rnds at a night shoot both with and without a light. Zero issues of picking up the front sight or target. My friends .357 mag had a much bigger flash coming out between the cylinder and barrel.
With a standard pressure sure. But the +p loads will cause more flash. I understand that they don't use it overseas. But a +p round will create more flash, and with most people running 124 gr +p's, it would be a good bench mark.
My wife just came home with a brand new one of these tonight. I can’t wait to try it out.
Just bought this fine tool today bc of your review. Thanks for all your hard work and for sharing your knowledge/experience
PitBoss2486 Nice. You're welcome.
SD loads will have flash suppressants in them. I used Bear as it has more flash than defensive rounds. Thanks for the input though.
Correct. That's why I chose it.
Will do!
I think they will.
Sounds good to me so long as you can shoot well with the hand of your choosing.
It is. By how much? Tough to say.....
Thank you. Will do.
Will do
I’ve always loved mine. Gen 3.
The muzzle flash isn't terrible with a 115 brown bear undercharged garbage round. Shoot it with a 124 +p SD load, or a real carry round. Plus if you are shooting at a moving target, the muzzle flash is cumulative. I shot a 22C and a 19C. IT happened to me. Plus the front sight got dirty as shit, and throw more gas/sound as you mentioned. I like your videos, and not hating on you, but light weight undercharged rounds are not the standard of measurement.
Lack of sales. They're still available for LE agency purchase though.
The 22c was in my last ammo test. I'll do a review one of these days.
Just picked up a Glock 19C Gen 4 right at the beginning of 2023. I've noticed a few "C" Gen 4 Models at different LGS near my area which leads me to believe that Glock must've released a batch of them. Anyways, I've made it my EDC since it's one of my favorite pistols currently. Going to try and grab a 17C or 21C in the next few weeks before they're gone.
First, thanks for making the video! I got one and was curious about the night shooting having not tried it. Other feedback I can share with you: I bought a gen4 Glock 19c, ports look just like yours. I like it but did not expect how dirty a ported gun would get. The front post gets dirty and so does the action and all inside the slide. I don't know what they were like but they're dirtier than a non-ported gun. As for the noise, I haven't noticed them being louder. The sound is a little different but I don't personally think it's louder. About velocity, I don't have a chronograph but it looks online like you lose about 30 feet per second, not 35% if that's what you said. I've not ready anything suggesting it's that much, the loss is less than from losing an inch of barrel and probably less than you gain from polygonal rifling.
Next year, alot of us would like to see a agency arms review mrgngr. Happy new year!
Welcome to the channel
Indeed!
I have a LW threaded barrel that has never been an issue.
Thanks. I'm still looking for the illusive Gen1 G19
Yup. Sure can.
I have an idea for a video, compare the 19 c recoil to the 19 gen 4 recoil. I really love the gen 4 glocks and it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the felt recoil of these two sweet shooters
Glock is just discontinuing the C models or is there some sort of legislative reason for it? I haven't really followed the brand that closely.
US made Gen 4, 19C's seem to be showing up on a few websites and shops lately. As you seemed to be one f the few bigger channels interested in the "C" models, wondered if you were looking into one? I believe these are the first Gen 4 C models, and they have a bit different machining on the barrel hood as well, not sure what thats about?
They just released a gen4 19C! I bought one immediately. You should try to get ur hands on one and do a review of it! I'd be interested in getting your take on the newest version! Great video!
In the process of buying my first handgun and of course its a G19c and was wondering would it be pointless to have a non ported barrel with a ported slide as I am just purchasing it for the look
They do have stock night sights... I have them on most of my Glocks.
When I was shopping around for my first gun, it was between a G17 RTF & G17C. I had to go with the RTF. Any news on your S&W 1911 E-series or do I have to stay tuned?? Lol great video as anyways.
Great video, I'm torn between glock 19C and m&p pro 9mm. It would be my only handgun but I am sure I can conceal m&p pro (4.25) as easy. What would you recommend? I have shot both well.
Manuel Silva I'd go 19C between the two for your needs. Honestly, carrying a full size M&P gets old; at least to me.
Mrgunsngear Channel thank you! I am fortune to have both available locally. Keep up the great work.
All valid points.
I just bought a gen4 19c. They're making the c models now in gen4. I haven't shot it yet.
Does this actually make recoil any easier & also do you have to use hotter loaded ammo than standard 9mm bcuz of the porting
thanks for the upload, but can u tell us how much of a reduction in percieved recoil you notice?
Great reviews! Did you ever SBR your M92 pap?
Do you feel the flash affects your follow ups shots at all? Or has it dissipated by the time your ready to shoot?
not at all
Good video, I was always curious about the compensated models. What differences or advantages would the "C" models have over an extended and ported barrel? I would think that the loss in velocity would no longer be an issue and the sights might also not get as dirty. I don't think I will be running out and buying a "C" model, but may go for a compensated barrel.
Great video. Just have a question that has been driving me a little crazy. I recently got a 22 Gen4 and am now looking for something a little smaller to carry. Im having a hard time deciding between the 19 or the 23. Any advice to help make this decision a little easier. Thanks
No advice there. That's a caliber war question and I don't do those :D Either will work well.
Why is glock stopping production on compensated glocks???????? Thanks great video
When you talk about a burn, are you talking about hot gases to the face? Is that something to be concerned about?
n300zx931 Yes. Not in my opinion.
what about residue or powder from comp getting in your eyes? I mean at night, self defense, youre probably not going to have eye protection on...
You can make the Glock 19C just like a regular Glock 19 by putting a regular barrel in it right?
GlockFan Yes
Mrgunsngear Channel I am assuming then that the Glock 19C and the Glock 19 use the exact same receiver?
Thank you.
Indeed but you're still here to tell us about it. That's really my point.
How does being ported affect velocity? I'm considering having my pistol ported but my main concern is if it will lose velocity enough to affect expansion of hollow points from losing energy.
Thank you. So probably not enough to deter me from using it as my carry weapon from time to time.
I own this gun. Here's my 2 cents:
Really fun at the range. Super accurate and handles the slight recoil of a 9mm extremely well. That is until I practiced drawing from appendix (where I carry). I shot from the hip, as one should from the "1 position." I felt like I got a tablespoon full of powder in my mouth, nose, and eyes.
No bueno.
I'll be purchasing an aftermarket barrel with no ports. I think that should mitigate the issue.
*Fun at the range.
*Not practical for carry.
thanks for the report
Thanks.
Light or dark it wont blind u i have a glock17c ,and a glock 20c . If a 10mm dont blind u ,a 9mm . I think 2010 they redesigned ports .my 17c is new kind and dated jan 2011. I just like fullsized guns.
Mike Walters I had a 21c gen3, nice full size like the 20c..
The C models are my favorite.
Agreed.
G34 vs 19C for Competition Shooting.Whats your opinion ? Thanks
Or maybe a glock 357 do to faster velocity. Wouldn't the gun be more accurate?
I just picked up a gen 3 17c , the only compensated 9mm ive been able to find.
canadianleadjunkie Nice
What about shooting it indoors and in the dark?
I didn't know you could swap the trigger with a G17. I don't really like the serrated trigger also.
I have the g23c I have no problems with flash. I do fief that there is virtually no flash with self defense ammo. It's only with cheap range ammo I notice the flash. At that point I actually love the flaming v!
Awesome shooter bro! Loved my 20c and miss it! Have a good one! - Jon from Ga
Valid points.
I wonder if the compensated models will go up in value when they aren't sold anymore
Then you've got the issue of an aftermarket barrel in a defensive gun which is a whole separate video..
It almost seemed like you were shooting a 22lr.. Was the recoil noticeably less?
Nirmeet R Not as noticeable as the 23C but it's there.
Mrgunsngear Channel
Hi there, thanks for getting back to me. I got an offer to trade my sig 226 in 40 for a glock 23c + cash... so are you saying in your comment that you would probably notice an even larger difference/improvement in recoil when it comes to 23c vs 23 as compared to the 19c and 19? So you re basically saying that the compensation would be even more noticeable in 40 cal?
Mrgunsngear Channel
Also would you prefer the compensated models over the non compensated models in general? I was actually planning to get a gen 4 23 in the next couple of months (I m from cali and must get it before the end of the year)... now I m kinda wondering if I should just get a gen 3 23c or a gen 4 23?? Whats your opinion on the compensated models?
Will your eyes be that close to the top of the slide? Maybe. Is enough for you not to buy the gun? Maybe. Only you can answer I suppose.
I just got one today gen3 un fired. Can’t Waite to shoot
I want a 23c, hope to get one before it's too late
do you know if a gen 3 compensated slide/barrel can be put on a gen4 frame with no problems?
Ryan Choat you will damage your frame. The recoil spring channel is wider on the gen 4's due to the switch to dual recoil springs. The gen 3's guide rod is smaller in diameter, allowing it to slip off the locking lug of the barrel and sit partially on the locking lug and frame. If you're interested in a compensated gun get your slide and barrel ported.
Agreed
Excellent video man keep up the good work bruh!!!
I'm having no luck finding these anymore. I know they will come out with a 4th gen of these eventually but I love the gen 3's way more.
Jason Loewe They're discontinued.
I have a Glock 23C, and shooting it makes my front sight dirty. I'm working on getting a new barrel with no ports.
obviously in production again. IMHO the flattest shooting 9mm I've ever put in my hands.
Do you use it in your EDC rotation ?
I’m about to pull the trigger. Gen 3 or gen 4 g19c?
Make sure to put your ear pro on first. These things bark.
Same boat I'm in. Which gen did you end up getting? I'm leaning towards gen 3
Just bought one today
did you find G3 or G4? and US or Austria on the slide?
greeenteeee Gen 4 made in Smyrna, GA. Bought for around $560 at Hoover Tac in Alabama
Just got mine today Gen 4 19c made in the USA baby
Just bought a USA MADE Glock 19c Gen 3 with a factory installed extended slide lock for $470. Born in 2013 according to the serial number. It was unfired. Put Trijicon HD XR night sights purchased from Optics Planet for $101.90 free shipping. I believe I have a keeper. 🇺🇸🗽🦅🇦🇹
Great review once again, my fiancé loves her glock 19c as well!
Good stuff.
Can u change out the c barrel for a normal g19 barrel to gain the velocity back ?
yes
I wonder what a Glock 19c suppressed would be like. Like a Gen4 19c with a threaded barrel with an Osprey 9
🤦♂️ That's honestly the dumbest shit I heard In a long time. Are you trolling or actually that dumb? 🤷♂️
great video and info, thanks
Well it'll probably never be too late but they'll be $1k on gunbroker....
Still at S&W
Great review. It would awesome if you go to TN to visit Hickok's compound to do some shooting with him. He a Glock guy. Love your videos and keep them coming :)
I just want Glock to add stock night sights... Probably also a Glock chambered in 22lr because you can't find conversion kits everywhere.
Thanks for debunking the myth.
could you review a ported barrel for a g34?
The comp is kinda overkill for the soft shooting 9 especially on a full-size gun
Yeah! I remember the compensated Glocks! Bad ass!!!
Solid review
Review the 23c or 22c next if you have them
Nice
I love it too :D
