man i am gonna use this technique. Have watched several excellent videos explaining technique but they were bigger nets and required more coils and also a specific way to coil the net. But mine is only a 6 footer and I have already forgotten on multiple occasions how to properly coil and throw the net.
So i am gonna use this simpler technique! and congrats on your viral video!

Hi all. Duane here. Just bought my first casting net. I have watched many videos on how to throw this thing. Terry here, in just a few minutes nailed it first time without trying too to be scientific. Just grab and throw. It does take practice, but it works the best. At least for me. Thank you for simplicity.

Watch a lot of videos when I learned years ago. This is by far the easiest for someone wanting to learn. Great job. The last one didn’t open just cause you didn’t flip that slack back to after your last grab. That’s what kept the outside from opening. Not being critic because it was a great video but if you add that little flip you do after you grab the last lead it might help others even more. Awesome job, just love how fisherman are always willing to help others learn. God Bless.

No fluff, no verbal masturbation ...... the video does what it sets out to do ....... of all the throw net videos on RUclips ... this one does not give the impression of setting out to pose or have that "look at me and how much I know" feel .......It does exactly what it says it is going to do .... Great! .... thank you for keeping it down to earth ....... (Cape Town, South Africa ... where "posing" and the "Look at me and how much I can talk" is frowned upon)

There appears to be many different ways to throw these nets, but this is a simple, doable way to do it. When I would throw the net it would lay on its side like a closed coffee filter. Thank you for the lesson on how to do it.
I live by the Chesapeake Bay, in Virginia. I see mainly our Asian brothers use these nets here in Virginia Beach. Not only do they drag in enough live bate to fish all day, but sometime they catch dinner!
I'm a fly fisherman from Wyoming who is learning how to salt water surf fish. So I'm way out of my comfort zone. But I notice I do better with live bate, so this net tossing is a must.
I also keep a battery Mr. Bubbler to keep my minnows alive (they call minnows gugions). If I don't use the minnows I just return the unused portion back to sea. If I bought the minnows, it would be a waste of money dumpling them back in the drink. But now I return what I caught so I don't feel like I wasted my money.
    Its a win win.
    Thank you

I throw the same way, but one suggestion, do not get quite as low on your last grab of the net nearest you, I've found the if the top sags much when I load up to throw it, it tends to not open as wide, so don't let it sag quite as much. Stop at your waist instead of your hip on the last grab. Imagining throwing uphill is extremely helpful too. It definitely takes a little bit of practice. Great Vid!

That's how I was taught a long time ago. Nothing in your mouth, nothing folded over your shoulder all in the hands.
One tip I dont think you mentioned is to turn over your throwing hand right when you toss it.
I can bomb it doing like this, but I struggle keeping it close.
