  • I just want to show everybody how they can throw a cast net the easiest way I've ever found. this way of throwing it was how my Dad taught us was in my teens. I have tried countless ways to throw them and always went back to throwing them like this I can throw up to eight foot nets this same
    The brand and size cast net I like the most for my recreational fishing is a Betts 6 ft

      This is the easiest, most natural method for me ! I've watched numerous videos of complicated methods, then said F it . I remember watching this a good while ago and remembered this video the most out of all of them ! For me anyway, this is the best Video for castnetting

    Took my 4.5' net to the river today and followed your instructions to the letter. Opened great, caught 3 fish in two casts. Thanks for the great tip on the left hand being low and relaxed, "let the net pull the weights when it wants". Best method on You Tube!

    This is truly the easy way that should be taught more. I can throw a 12’ net no problem but always struggle with a little net. I look forward to practicing this!

    Thanks for the tip. I throw a 6' net, (radius), almost the same way and was having 50/50 shot at opening. Was practicing today and used your tip. Greatly increased my good throws simply by holding the weak arm to my waist. As always, practice makes perfect but I will incorporate this into my routine.

    So im one that has gone through probably 20 different peoples method of throwing a cast net and i love the simplisty of how you do it. Im excited to give this a try. I just bought a new net and don't remember if its 7 or 8 ft.

    I'm trying this on my 6 foot cast net I'm in Philippines they love eating glass minnows I brought my net over from Florida to teach them I can throw smaller nets having problems with 6 footer

    I’ve been throwing for a long time using a method similar to your description and I’m definitely gonna give this a whirl I hope it works for me too it would save a lot of effort the net is heavy. Nice vid .

    Darn it! Im 47 and have always used my teeth. I guess an old dog can learn new tricks. Even though Im right handed I throw with my left hand. Im going to start practicing with my right hand like you. Thanks!

    I do use cast nets all the time. There several techniques we can use throw nets. Imagine being in windy area, the techniques your showing will not do any good in windy areas.

    First time seeing this method of cast netting. Much easier than the way I have been doing for 40 plus years. You can teach old dogs new tricks especially if it is Clyde

    Excellent Ken. A little hint, you’re in silhouette with the Sun behind you which made it a hard to see where your fingers were. Now I know that 2m tall is a good height for a net but I need to know about diameter, I will check the rest of your channel. Many thanks.

    I use to use my teeth to hold the weight egg. to cast my net, But watching you, how to not use my teeth. I can do it now and not use my upper teeth and launch my false teeth into the ocean.. Thank you Ken

    Thank you sir! I knew there was another way to do it. I’ve watched videos of people saying fold this over, then this over, then split the net, then put this over your finger. Hell I dam never went over the boat trying to throw it like that. Im the only man that can say I caught my dam trolling motor with a cast net! Thanks a lot sir, this video was very helpful..

    Great demonstration! I have always used a 3’ shad net years ago and it was easy to throw, but this year I could only find a 4’ and I was having problems casting it but I wasn’t choking up on it! Thanks for the video!

      This is a six ft net but I showed in another video it can be done with 8 and 10 foot nets too

      My dad taught me, I teach y’all and yall teach others that way my dads teaching live on

      I took it as good advice I’m just not sure if I’m going to do anymore fishing videos because I’ve lost too many family members since June 11th
      On June 11th I lost my wife then on Aug 8th I lost one of my little brothers then another family member on October 12th then almost lost my mom on October 30th so I took up wood working instead of fishing because it keeps my mind occupied

    That’s a small net. The bigger nets you can’t throw them that way. Try to throw a 10 ft net that way

      I can throw up to a 8’ that way
      10 and 12 ft mullet nets require 2 hands but recreational guys don’t need more than an 8’ net

      I used to throw only 8 ft and up that’s what I was using when I figured out the one handed trick
      I was a commercial fisherman most of my life and nets needed to be set up and thrown fast

      But I do not use my mouth nor throw it over my shoulder
