Never underestimate a body of water . The two fish are e perfect examples of this . I believe that was the cleanest catfish that I have seen . Nice going .
Not that surprising. Fisherman in Ukraine used to fish the cooling ponds at Chernobyl (before the meltdown) where the cooling water dumped because the fish were plentiful and active. The spot was stupid popular among people in Pripyat and was often praised for being excellent fishing
In the 1960s (Yes, I'm old) I worked at the Deepwater HL&P Power Plant near Pasadena TX. If I was on "yard watch", once per shift my job was to clean the screens on the condensing water intakes coming out of the ship channel. Back then the water in that channel was very nasty, and we got all sorts of slimy disgusting creatures come up on those screens. Conversely, the Bacliff power station near Texas City provided employees hundreds of pounds of fresh live shrimp right out of Galveston bay when they washed their intake screens. I wonder if they are still doing that.
That was an amazing catch Bro, my PB was a 42 1/2 in red drum at IPP in Portland, Tx keep it coming withe vid's my Bro and fish on!!! Corpus Christi, Tx
The warm water runoff at Gandy power plant (Tampa Bay) was notorious for Reds and Snook! Access was by boat, but of course a fisherman must seek further pursuit of happiness, you just had to time the security guards rounds to venture into the labyrinths for that ultimate strike!
i think in this case if he ate one of them it would possibly give him cancer since its a plant spewing some sort of probably toxic material into the water
@@millerthehunter3999 Nah - more likely than not just cooling water if it is a power plant. Warmer water = more life = more bait food = more and bigger fish. Nothing special about seeing big fish or schools of fish in situations like these.
I can't tell the taste difference in black or red drum..we call them spot tails around here but it's an excellent fish to eat omgs I want some now.. excellent job brother!
When throwing from heights and you are pulling up the cast net,try pulling from like a 45 degree angle, when you pull straight up,the lead line leaves the ground before it closes allowing the fish to escape, not sure if I explained it properly
Sometimes when you bump into a school of white bass on Lake Erie it can be frantic action on any bait. I kept one once and filet it and it was delicious but hard to clean.
I love erie....I'm about 45 min south of there....shenango and pymatuning reservoirs are by my house and I catch alot of white bass there it's loads of fun
Used to catch tons of white bass in the outflow from the Huntley Power Plant on the Niagara River in Buffalo. There was a large 4-5 acre cooling pond before it discharged into the river, the pond was off limits but the outflow was near the small boat launch. Wiggle a little light colored lure in that outflow water 'rapids' and get one every time. The power plant is closed now.
Years ago I used to belong to fishing club that had 3 different lakes right off of a big river. The club sold off a lot of the land to waste management and they developed there trade mark mountains of trash all around the lakes. Eventually after a few years we started noticing that some of the fish we were pulling out had tons of leaches on them and in them and some even had deformities!! Point is that when fishing around facilities such as these beware of things both seen and unseen because you never know what is affecting and infecting the marine life!!
There is good fishing just down river of the Monticello nuclear power plant on the Mississippi river. My friend hooked a big cat fish we guessed at about 45 pounds about 20 kilos. Plus some 13 inch crappies.
You sure as hell can't get this close to that plant. I used to hike up the river to get to the power lines. Great walleye fishing. Now it's all posted no trespassing. Pre 9/11 you could check in at the gate and fish right by the plant. Those days are long gone. Of course, it is a nuclear plant so it's as tight as security gets
OMG, a Redfish! I wish I had about 3 pounds of Redfish filets marinating in my secret cajun recipe right now! Marinate overnight and deep fry for the best fish ever. Recipe: 2-3 pounds of redfish filets 1- 8 oz of yellow mustard 1 bottle of Louisiana hot sauce Mix & stir in bowl, add filets- cover and marinate in refrigerator overnight. Prep for deep frying: pour the milk of choice into a bowl & in another bowl cornmeal or your favorite store batter. Dip filets in the milk, then into the batter. Fry until golden and floating to top. . well, man I reckon it could be called about any name you wanna call it. It's actually a red drum, also known as redfish, channel bass, puppy drum, spot tail bass, or simply red It is a game fish found in the Atlantic ocean from Massachusetts to Florida, and the gulf of mexico. The red drum is related to the black drum, and both species are often found near each other. They can intrbreed.and form a robust hybrid, and younger fish are indistinguishable in their flavor. NICE! Yeah, they go where they find food and stay warm, do not know that they can reproduce, though. Illegal to use cast net in wisc
