How would you feel about this lens secondhand excellent condition at €720? Thinking of grabbing it and pairing it with my EOS R which should help with focusing issues I think...
The key with this lens or the 50mm1.2L is to reverse what we were tough in school, compose first, move the focusing point to the eye so you know you get good focus, do not move at all and ask your subject not to move at all either then take the shot; 99.9% of the times you will get very sharp photos. You might have to micro adjust it to some cameras, take the time is worth i!
Apologies for the late reply! at the point of the video I hadn't but since then I have. Other than the weight of the lens and the adapter it is still a really good lens
It appears the one you rated is the first series. I had the first series, but now have the series II, it’s faster focusing than the series one, there were actually a few changes, but I don’t remember what the others were. Anyway, great review.
I'm pretty sure that the one in the video is a mk II. You can see the "II" after the 1:1.2L. Which means its the "newer"(out around 2006) EF 85mm 1.2 II L
Vincent Deschenes after watching very closely, I do believe you are correct. I was able to compare the first series to this one prior to actually purchasing it. I was impressed with the improvements. But, I have felt different if I hadn’t experienced the first series. Good catch on that.
ANGEL LONDIAN No, I haven’t tested it on the R. I don’t have access to one. But on the 5D MK-III as well as my EOS-1N film camera. I do love this lens, it does take a bit to get use to it when you shoot it wide open (1.2). As for the MK 1, no it is definitely not useless. They are both great lenses, but the MK-II does have some advantages over the MK-I.
Took me to get all the way to the price to realize this is the mark II version, and not the mark I. There’s literally no videos on the mark I version 😩

Spot on!
Hey mate. Have you tried this lens on canon's mirrorless camera like Eos R?

You can buy the viltron R2 adapter for mirrorless cameras and have a beast L series with control ring for about 900 bucks and great image
Excellent thanks buddy

Yes I did. But that good to hear. I will have to test the newer version and do a comparison. Thanks for your comment 😃

CS B did you test it on the R? I’m curious how it performs cause in own an R. And can you compare the mark I & II. Is the mark I pretty much useless?

Hi, everyone. Which one will you choose? Canon EF 85mm f/1.2 II USM or Canon Ef 85mm f/1.4L IS USM
The canon EF 85mm F/1.4. Thats the best lens as it has image stabilisation built-in 😃
Write "EF" in the title if it's so, please.
Excellent thanks buddy
