I love this song The first time I heard it was when it was first released back in '87 March 1987 Seven wonders and little lies were also released by Fleetwood mac in '87
The amazing thing about Fleetwood Mac is that they were able to produce so many hits no matter if Lindsey, Christine or Stevie was the lead. The songs led by these singers all have a different vibe but are obviously brought together by the band and the talented musicians they are. This song is not the first most think of when they think of FM but it showcased how talented Buckingham is as a vocalist. We know he’s good as a guitarist.
That is why the band is so great. They have 3 singer song writers. They all bring something to the table. They are all amazing. There is something for everyone. For the most part they each sing lead on the songs they wrote.
Not true though is it. While he certainly played his part, if you look at who wrote what he wasn't *that* integral to their music and song writing. Great guitarist, mind.
Fleetwood Mac is one of those bands that basically is a band of individual songwriters who are talented musicians in their own right. Each has their own style and it makes for a very diverse songbook because their styles are so different which I think is the key to their success (similar to Queen). I love Lindsey (I much prefer the acoustic version of Big Love on The Dance though) and tend to like his songs the most but some of their greatest songs were not written by him. Dreams was written by Stevie, Don't Stop was written by Christine and Lindsey only had three songs on Rumours (arguably their best album) with Go Your Own Way his only hit. One thing I will agree is that the addition of Lindsey and Stevie put the right combination of people together to make Fleetwood Mac a success. Different versions of Fleetwood Mac were kicking around England for a long time following the British Blues trend with some minor success. Adding the Americans made their music change to a more unique sound which pushed them away from the crowd.
I think part of it is that he didn't seem to get quite so long-term angry about band politics as others, or at least was a tiny bit less outapoken about it. He and Christine have what seems like a very functional working relationship together, which is perhaps overshadowed by the very public and ongoing Nicks/Buckingham fallout. Plus it's easy to overlook just how important he is to the sound, as a lot of people don't necessarily really listen out for or know how to identify the bass.
Missing Christine 😥 🕊what a devastating loss, had to come on here tonight and listen to some FM. This is one of my faves and Lindsey's voice is sublime 💕
