When my son was eleven months old, he went deaf. He had a major surgery to try to restore some hearing. They asked us to keep sound to a minimum while he was healing. One day, I turned this song on very softly. Suddenly, he squealed and crawled over to the stereo, pulled himself up and started dancing. That's when I knew the surgery was a success and my baby could hear! Every time I hear this, I see that eleven month old baby, standing there with a huge smile and dancing, because he could hear the music!

My high school band played this at football games just a few years ago! Learning it for band was my first introduction to the song, it was by far one of my favorites to play :)
I remember as a kid my family and I were on a road trip and I was waking up from a nap with this song playing. I thought that it was the coolest song I had ever heard and ended up listening to it on cassette often. This is the first time I've watched the "official music video". RIP Christine McVie
I really hope the USC marching band plays this at some point during the football teams Friday night game against Utah just in tribute to the memory of Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie. RIP Christine McVie
I remeber back in the days , I took a ship to the U.S. (I'm from Italy) . When I arrived , i was walking around a town there and decided to go to the beach. When I arrived there I noticed a boy on a wheelchair playing this song, it seemed like it gave him hope:)! We later became best friends in a horse race across the US.
What makes this song so infectious? The absolutely primal beat that Mick Fleetwood and the underrated John McVie lay down then the slow building up to the crescendo and the stirring entrance of the USC marching band caps it off...and of course the bewitching Stevie Nicks with a baton in the LA sunshine. It doesn't get any better than that (late 1970s Cali style)
A thing I love about this song is how much of a *spin* it puts on the rock genre, it *nails* everything so perfectly, I might aswell put it on an *infinite* loop.
Back in the day the USC Marching Band was the shit. This was a big thing, incorporating the band into a song and music video. It was a cool time to be alive.

I remember seeing this video as a kid back in the summer of 1981 on this new music channel that only played music videos. Was so different from all the other MTV videos in every way. Stevie was such a stunner and her spinning at 1:15 still blows my mind; the band coming out at 2:42 still gives me chills 41 years later. Tusk!
As a band geek who was in some combination of marching band, concert band, and orchestra for 8 years, let me say that 41 years later, both this song and the band uniforms are FIRE 🔥 I’d wear this color guard uni or those giant helmets in a heartbeat!
Stevie just learned Spin that she could twirl the baton so fast. Not to mention the slight whizzing "Chumimiii~n!" aeolian noise from her baton. You can thank Gyro later
Can Stevie BE any more beautiful? And seeing Christine made me smile. RIP❤ Such a fun video, really ahead of its time. But so present and true to its time. Beautiful and timeless. I really cannot articulate how much this song and video moves my spirit. Thank you Fleetwood
TUSK is an extremely underrated rock album, one of the very best from the 1970s and its actually a double album with 20 songs, totally luv it again and even more, whenever i hear it and feel it and as unbelievable as it seems to be, ive been listening to this for like 43 years and in all seriousness, motion picture camera live action footage really is a time machine and maybe someday some future generation of geniuses will figure out how to take a ride and literally get inside of the moving images and really be there, wherever whenever filmed.
You are absolutely correct. But Fleetwood Mac had the same problem with this album as the Eagles did with The Long Run. Both were excellent albums, but they will be forever judged against the album that preceded them. The public and critics both wanted Rumours II and Hotel California II, but both bands correctly IMHO resisted that temptation
There were only three hits in Tusk: "Tusk," "Think about Me," and "Sisters of the Moon." So it couldn't hold a candle to Rumor. Beside, disco was still all the rage at the time. "Tusk" has the beat, but it ain't disco, which I often refer to as "polyester jingle."
@@yaglehoole5662 you're forgetting Sara, which was a Top Ten hit, peaking at number seven on the Billboard Top 100, surpassed just barely by Tusk, which went to number six.
i'm a wheelchair user since i was young by an accident in a theather row, but this music makes me feel like i could walk and dance all over usa with my horse
No offense here, but.... there are programs for disabled to learn to ride a horse! I encourage you to try it! There is nothing like riding a horse. There is a freedom from the chair.
I'm in the high school marching band and we have a Fleetwood Mac cover band coming to the theatre to perform in our town, and we'll be playing with them
I would love to see a now-BIG 10 USC band play this in West Lafayette, Indiana when I go to watch my Boilermakers. I remember buying "Tusk" as an undergrad at Purdue and listening to it until the needle was dull.
Tusk, is a one of a kind song, vwas way ahead of it's time and a stand alone song, in a league of it's own. Take a listen to Paul McCartney's song Mull of Kintyre....it's a folk song he wrote for his love of the Scottish, and where he lived in Scotland. The bagpipes bring me to tears everytime. I think you''ll feel it too.
Can anyone imagine the thrill all these Band members had being part of an iconic song from one of the biggest bands of all time? I imagine some of them still go back & watch this performance just to relive the fun times of their young adult lives.
Actually, at USC Trojan Marching Band Homecoming practice, the alumni gather and many will tell you exactly where they were and where they stood in proximity to the Fleetwood Mac Band members. Even more so, there are those who talk about being in the studio for the recording session, being at the halftime show where members of Fleetwood MAc came to the Coliseum to perform with the band, then, years later, being at the studio to record the video performance of the Fleetwood Mac reunion concert, being on the field with Mick Fleetwood performing with the band at the Coliseum AGAIN...... WHO the girl who owned the baton and how Stevie asked to borrow her baton for this video and the twirler kept it in her memory box ever since. Oh, believe me. The band alumni talk about this and STILL LOVE EVERY BIT OF IT. Fight on.
I was 8 when I heard this song on the radio. That drum beat got me addicted to Fleetwood Mac. Loved all their stuff. Great bands back then. They don't make music like they used to (much) anymore. I'm just sad I was too young to go to concerts back then. At least we have the videos! : )

Mourning the loss of Christine McVie. A beautiful soul, now in Heaven. R.I.P.
There were only three hits in Tusk: "Tusk," "Think about Me," and "Sisters of the Moon."
So it couldn't hold a candle to Rumor.
@@jim2lane You're right. I now do recall Sara and Gypsy. The two have very similar chord progressions.

I get emotional when I see the marching band at the end...it's so powerful and awesome!
Exactly, I wonder all the time why I'm so crazy about this song.
That for sure is one of the reasons.
Very rousing , so much so that even the members of Fleetwood Mac applauded at the end. Stirring stuff
A very, very underrated song. Experimental as hell, yet works brilliantly. And, Christ Oh Mighty, two words: "Stevie's baton".
@Diego Brando 「ТӤЄ шӨЯLD」 leave the poor man alone, he has no idea what you are saying haha.

This song gives me chills and that all those USC students were having fun working with the legendary Fleetwood Mac makes me cry with joy.
I think about that too they are so lucky what an experience
And Fleetwood Mac was having fun working with them!
The drumming is perfectly hypnotic
Can anyone imagine the thrill all these Band members had being part of an iconic song from one of the biggest bands of all time? I imagine some of them still go back & watch this performance just to relive the fun times of their young adult lives.
💯 agree
What a beat. What a buid up. One of my favourite songs
Fight on.
@@flowergirlinWard17 if I'm not mistaken, the USC marching band are the only marching band to have recieved a grammy for thier performance on this one
