I would not call that a death wobble. OMG once new experience it, you never forget it. Cheers Graham
Nice one. Loved it about the Dos and Don't and also you had the patience to film every step of the way!
Thanks enjoying this channel
Thanks mate👍
great video mate
Thanks for sharing 👍
Hopefully it fixed the death wobbles 🙏
If not try wheel balancing with best tyres on front 🧐
Hey Nigel, yes it did👍 was really happy with the result... also tightened up the steering box.. I think that helped to..
Thank you for your video
I have a problem with the shaft when I put it on it place it not be placed in the centre , it rubs with knuckle spindle. Is there any problem.
Thanks for taking time to post this, a job I need to do. What grease did you use please?
Hi Mate, I used the gulf western super blue grease. But any good quality grease would do the trick👍
Great video, well explained. Did you use genuine Nissan parts?
Hi Mate, I used SKF parts, it came in a kit. The parts have been really good👊 I think I do a breakdown of the parts and part numbers in the video. 👍
good video, just did mine on my GU.
except you greased the whole shaft of your CV? ... the bit that sits in the axle pass the oil seal where your diff oil reaches.
i am sure mixing grease and diff oil is not a good thing ?
Yeah, good point! Thanks for that..
I'm confused, in the manual for Nissan y60 GQ page FA-13 where you have the illustration about Drive-flange and free-running hub, it tells to add grease to everything including the Axle shaft. Maybe it is OK?
In another section FA-27 that is specific about the Axle Shaft, it only mentions to pack the joint with grease.
panard bushes and balance beads in tyres fixed my wobbles
Thanks a lot for the video. Its 2 AM here, I jst reached home after puncturing two alloy rims of Nissan Patrol GQ, what happened is, while I was turning, suddenly my patrol started some strange noises, and it stoped moving, when I tried to drive, my right front tyre punctured, i got off and checked, the alloy rim was PUNCTURED from the inside where the disc hub is located, I though kay be some big screw stuck between disc hub and alloy rim, I changed it, and again it punctured my another alloy rim, now I just parked Patrol there and came home. I thought it might be broken bearing, because of which wheel is losen and when I tried to drive, disc hub punctured alloy rim, whats your opinion about it, is it ball bearing or may be CV?? I ak worried because its extremely hard to find Nissan Patrol GQ parts in Pakistan, because I love my patrol a lot. I dont know what to do.
Hi Daniel, Sorry you have had that happen. its hard to help without seeing the issue, perhaps inspect the rim - is the puncture a single hole? (if so look for something that is being driven through the rim) or did something create a grove all the way around the rim? (this would be something that has moved out of place.)
Perhaps some others on here have seen this before?
PS -- Cool to hear that Old GQ's are loved up in Pakistan too!
Good day everyone, I repaired my front diff And when I finished, I saw that I forgot to put it on brass washer. Can I turn on the front wheel drive? And what is the function of brass washer? Thanks
Why do.u want grease in ya diff 😂
Roughly how long did it take you for both sides
Hi Ben, when I did the other side without making a video, it took 2-3 hours..
If i did it again, I would allow a solid day.
Have fun🔧
hi friend thanks for the video how to search on ebay for that tool?
I notice U didn't put the brass washer on. When change the thin bearing, which U had trouble getting it out. Mine has brass washer
Ok, I'll check that out👍
Hello fellow window cleaner LOL
this GQ or Qu the hub locks look different mine has 54 mm nuts
Did you check preload on the swivel hub? 39:42
Hey mate, I dont have the tool to check the preload, the shims I have left everything feeling nice and tight 👍 cheers
I have to do this job 4 times a year 😫
For the driver side . Replaced diff tube and axles several time but still facing same problem with the inside axle seal ( driver side ) any idea what is the problem with my 1988 GQ.
Hi Mate.. what is the issue you are having? Is the seal still leaking after you replace it? Hope we can help you sort it😉
@@jimmysoutback2017 The inner axle seal start to leak again after 3 - 4 months of replacement.?
That's a bummer! When I was putting mine in, I was thinking that it would be easy to damage it.. did you lightly oil or grease the CV shaft before sliding it in?
@@Mohsteps Do you have the same size shim for top and bottom kingpin bearings? If not your shaft will be sitting slightly high/low and cause increased wear. Also a big point is to check the surface @40:05 because it can have wear marks in it which cause a leak too.
Have you tried to throw your seal in the freezer (thermal contraction) for a few hours before putting it in place?
Additionally, heating the seat to a moderate temperature (thermal expansion) to gain a little more free space might save you from delivering destructive whacks to the seal.
Also, make sure that the "step-up" between the splines and the axle shaft (as well as the entire surface of the shaft that connects with the seal when slid in place) is 100 percent free of burrs, scuffs and chips. Neglecting this step is the perfect recipe for disaster.
If you can find some really thin plastic sheet, you can cut out a piece and roll it around the shaft.
Then you hold it in place whilst threading the shaft through the seal, and finally pull out the rolled up sheet. Of course, make sure you don't have any sharp edges on the plastic sheet either.
Works like a charm when rebuilding hydraulic cylinders, same principle here. Best of luck mate!
Could have put your doing GU swivel hubs 👎
He only got the gu bearing locking nuts. Not gu hubs. My 1996 cake standard with those hearing locking nuts. I purchase the socket to undo them, from online auto parts and I said mine has pinholes and guy said no this is the one. Well I had to go back and get the right one. in my manual it states it come with those locking nuts
