I've replaced the single piston front calipers with dual piston calipers from the GQ EFI models instead of installing a GU front. I believe the GU front are a little wider...so it'll mean replacing the rear at the same time. Time, cost and labour were the determining factors for someone doing it on their own. Obviously I rebuilt the dual pistons prior to installation and whilst there replaced all the wheel bearings which also eliminated the 'death wobble'
I will add No 11 to the list. Theft prevention!. Consider changing your door locks and ignition barrel. They get worn and next to useless. A GPS tracker is a great idea, and concealed kill switch. Please comment with any other theft prevention strategies.
What wasn't mentioned when replacing the front axle with a GU one is you've also got to replace the rear one as well. Who want's a GQ that has the handling traits of a 79 series?
why not buy a gu.. i have a 6 cyl, 4.2tdi s/duty. 700nm.. 14 lt 100, tows 4.5t. goes up hill with 4.5t, in 5th.. just bought a gu. 2000, 4.2tdi, fk its gutless.. & no, i dont have a computer, or glow plugs.. but it has ohc, 3 valves 3'' system std. cost, 25k, 7 yrs ago..plus, i dont have bs cv crap..
There is another problem with the cooling system - the last 6 cylinder can overheat. It happens 2.8 TD but 4.2 too. To prevent this, a connector is installed in place of the plug in the engine block at the back and connects to the rest of the cooling system. The plug is in contact with the engine's water jacket, so the coolant flowing through this additional connector better cools the last cylinder.
this is a well known problem and it is easy to fix. 1. throw out that Taylor Swift Christmas CD or 2. stop taking the wife with you. 😂😂😂 OK seriously - it all depends on what sort of noise but it sounds like there will be some alignment issues with castor or your drive shafts. Get it to a good 4x4 mechanic or take it back to the mechanic that fitted the lift. Should be an easy fix
@@4WDTV Thanks for suggested solutions 😁 Ok, it is because drive shaft angle I assume and unfortunately no good mechanic around, I am looking for somone describe the solution so I can apply it myself.
@@riskybiscuit6617raptor is awesome, especially if you're using the car as intended. I've had my gq in black raptor for 3 years and it stills looks almost pristine, any regular paint would be munted.

F100, Chevy, Dodge, GMC, etc can't survive off road in our conditions 😜 basically they are too big. Awesome for towing though.@@harrywalker968
One of the best GQ videos I’ve seen, great advice clearly presented!
