Just a correction at the time line of 6:41 on your suggestion when finding the right shim size, The correct method is to use the thickest shim you have 1st, the reason for this is so when you torque the 4 bolts down you have not over loaded the bearings beyond the correct setting, I Have seen many bearings fail because people start with the thinner shim rather than the thicker one. It is a very simple thing but it saves any damage to the new bearings. Nice video and a fantastic job. My comment is only here to help others who are unaware and want to give it a go at home. Keep the vids coming

Good clear video in great lighting mate. Always wanted to see what went on in there once you're deeper than the wheel bearings. Very informative.
Thanks from Poland!
Hi, nice job. Looks like the project is off to a good start, i am interested in you're next steps so can't wait for the next episode. Cheers
Great information. I am about to do this on my 2 x Gqs so thank you for clarifying some of the finer points. Nice work.
Awesome video mate. Super easy to follow along. Clear instructions and tips to help make things easy.
Thanks
Glad it helped
It is amazing how similar it is to my Land Rover Defender’s setup. I did all four my wheel bearings a few weeks ago and it is almost identical, apart from the special hub nut. Good job and great video.
You did a great job best I have seen on Instructions most don't go into depth like you did well done Mick:)
Cheers Boofy. Hopefully it can help a few people.
Thanks excellent tutorial.....Greetings from Colombia....
Thanks heaps for the tutorial on swivel hubs. It was my 1st time doing them and the video made it loud and clear. I'm stoked with my 1st rebuild
Thanks mate.
Frank.
Awesome, nice work. Glad it helped you.
And something that helped me was having a bucket of water with some truck wash for an easy and fast hand clean😉👌
I wish I had this video couple years ago. The part about the swivel bearings would have been very helpful for me back then. Cheers Graham. I got change the clutch on my GQ 2.8 litre diesel. Not looking forward to doing it.
really informative video, thanks mate
No problem 👍
Great video mate i did this step by step along with you without trouble. I did put sealant behind stub axle, and i used just HTB in kingpins.(read from others.) time for a coldy now cheers.
Awesome, stoked the video was useful.
Great work, I have always wanted to know how to do the swivel hubs!!! Thanks heaps
Happy to help!
Top walk through 🤟
Another Great How to do it yourself Video. Keep up the good work. Have been a subscriber for ages. When is the next trip Video coming up.
Thanks mate, we have a couple small trips planned in the next few months. They have been few and far between with this G60 build
Hey mate. Good video. Just so u know, u got the wiper seal on back of hub backwards. 👍
the one time I did wheel bearing to the 190nm spec thing they imploded after 50km of driving (brand new koyo japanese bearings) always set them with the tire on like you said by feel take it for a short drive and check by feel again never had a problem ever again.
Doing mine soon when parts arrive. Thank you so much for this well done video. Only thing I dont have a press. I am hoping the normal using a socket on edges will work.
How did you go?
@rileyhd3473 it all went well. Been on a few long trips and nonproblems at all. 👍
@rileyhd3473 I did end up buying a 20 ton press though.
Yayy!
REALLY GOOD TIP GUYS!!
please have multiple of those bearing tools! Dosnt matter the brand because I tightened mine which was good but snapped when I went to loosen them! I thought it would be okay for the bearnings as long as I didn't drop the car on them tight but overnight it still destroyed the bearings 😢. Such a stupid tool
(Another tip. If you break the tool at the pin.....drill it out with a 7.5mm drill bit and use the drill bit!) 😉👍🏼
or drill it out and cut a tent peg in half and weld them in
Hey mate new to sfa got a gu so I'll definitely be referring to this video when my time comes to do this, just a quick one what's the manual called that you kept referring to and would i get one ?
Looks good to me something I would not tackle. Regards vk5cz ..
My bearings came with a washer that would normally sit infront of the outer bearing before putting the locking rings on. Did you use it or was that not shown?
Buddy plz upload super safari front axil boot and axil remove and installation tutorial please
The Bendix brake kit is great, my GU stops a lot quicker with it.
I'll be a little bit off testing it out, but I'm impressed with the kit. One stop shop.
10:20 rotating force of knuckle flange check , this must be made without installing grease seal and axle shaft
Thanks for the wonderful video
Looking good! Quick question, no gasket or sealant on the stub axle at the 14 min mark? Also, no thread lock on the stub axle bolts, or any other mission critical hardware given the hardware is used and the spring washers might not be as effective as new?
Not as far as I'm aware. I have never on my other Patrol. Happy to be corrected.
@@SIDETRACKED I would assume without some sort of seal it wouldn't be very water tight. Especially if underwater for any period of time
"Should" be moly grease in the kingpin bearings. but I say that loosely :D
Well good to know 👍
I’m just about to do this job to my td42 gu, what exact cv grease did you use? Also do you have a video on how you took out the old races for the bearings
it was a penrite cv grease. With the hub assembly off and bearings out you can get a drift or punch through the middle into a small cut out section to hit the back side of the race
I am struggling with my GU 4.2L before when all the parts are broken 😂
Am i the only one that counts the uga dugas for accurate torque settings 😃
You put the wiper seals wrong. Metal should be first from the wheel to the diff
@SIDETRACKED what manual locking hubs are you running? The hub drive gear looks pretty beefy
Factory manual hubs mate
@@SIDETRACKED I didn’t realise factory manual hubs were so tuff, I’ll have to look at swapping my auto hubs for a pair
@@raymondhayne1250 yep, they are the toughest money can buy as far as my knowledge goes. I had a great run out of genuine Nissan autos as well.
@@SIDETRACKED yeah my autos have done well but one is developing a click
My hub tool just broke trying to torque the hub nut. 😢
ciao grazie per il filmato, potresti dare i kg della torsione della bilancia, sia dei cuscinetti che del mozzo, putroppo non capisco cosa dici e non parlo inglese
Someone might of mentioned it but backing plate not refitted
Correct, I mentioned it in the video.
I think you missed a seal too
hope to have a talk sir , dm
'promo sm'
Not to hard when you get it all for free
Na na, it's physically the same difficulty level whether it is free or not.
@@SIDETRACKED So in other words its just a sponsor plug.
What part? The only part that has been sponsored was the Bendix kit. And hey if you want to put all your spare time into creating free content for others to enjoy for the last 8 you too could benefit from sponsors. Believe me when I say it would a lot cheaper to just pay for the "free" gear.
Throw us a Sub if you could 😉

You'd think @trickymon would be Happy that your FREE Vid just saved him $1700 in Labour..........
@@trickymon Did you not see him performing the labour? How is that free? regarding the parts, whether they're free or not, maintenance is always required. How do you pay for your maintenance?
