Got a bottle of the 2022, with 3 back-ups coming. Can't wait to try it, sounds like I made a good call landing some extras. Thanks for the "battle" review, looking forward to the next. Cheers All!
Just got the CS 2022 too finally! Tasted both before, liked them both, the 2021 being somewhat brighter and lighter in general. The light dryness and notes of bitterness in the finish of the 2021 made it easy for me to choose the 2022 in the end. Cheers Alan! 🥃
Enjoyed your enthusiasm for 12CS again, Alan. I’ve had a couple of folk prefer the 2021, but those few aside it’s a landslide for 2022. Same formula, just massively good Oloroso Casks in it. Roll on the Autumn for the next one! 😂😂😁👍🥃🍷
Great review Alan - as always! I am glad you did this comparison. I have been enjoying the 2021, and recently was able to get the 2022 though I haven't opened it yet. I will this week. Interestingly most reviewers prefer the 2022, though not all. In fact one of my close friends who is quite the expert prefers the 2021. For him the 2022 is too fudge-y for his palate - and he likes to 2021 better to drink as he smokes his pipe! Though I like the 2021, I suspect that the 2022 will be more in line with my own palate! Look forward to the comparison I will make for myself later this week!
the 2021 was ok Gary, however the 2022 is what i was expecting from the 2021 bottle, its richer , its better casks imo, yes there is treacle but there is treacle in both of them....but that 2022 is awesome Gary, enjoy it fella....
We cannot find Bunna 12 cask strenght in Calgary, Canada. Found a bottle of A.D.Rattray single cask collectioin of Bunnahabhain 2021 bottled at 66.7%. It is a great one!
Alan, can I tell you a little story, I bought 2 cask strength whiskeys last week, my wife went out on Friday night, and I thought, I’ll give these a go! I was also drinking beer,by the time my wife came home, I was gone! I fell over and broke my shoulder! Needless to say, she doesn’t like MY whisky journey…………I’m an knakker! Great video Alan
wow i hope your shoulder recovers ok Alfie, which cask strengths did you have.....?....remember as i say Alfie....please drink responsibly.....plenty of water on the side buddy....it happens to us all fella.....
Alan, 2 bottles by Master of Malt, Craigellachie 11 yo 65%, and a Glenrothes 13 yo 60%, I did use water! Obviously, not enough 🥴 they were nice though, and a few beers just to compound the situation! A lesson learned, at 65!
They can't Cliffe hopefully my scores reflect that buddy.. The 2021 is decent however the 2022 is in a different league my friend... Thanks for dropping in Cliff
@@thewhiskyfriend i went for El Dorado 21from Santa instead of Bunnahabhain CS..probably a slight mistake..but my birthday is in May,so I'll ask for Bunna 12 CS then!😋😋😋🥃
Ok Alan - just opened my 2022 and did a side by side tasting. They are definitely different whiskies. I agree that the 2022 is richer and more dessert-like. It stays in my mouth like I just ate a yummy fudge pie. The 2021 is lighter but I get more leather and spice. I think both are great - just different whiskies. Maybe the 2021 is more second fill and the 2022 first fill? For what its worth, I gave the 2021 an 89, and the 2022 a 91. I can imagine reaching for one or the other at different times - for different reasons! But now, a half hour later, its the 2022 that is still with me! By the way - what is the name of the glasses you are drinking from in this video?
You just can't go wrong with the Bunna! great vid mate. Cheers.
From the color I guessed the conclusion - great review! Doon that hatch it is 2022!
this is what i was expecting in 2021....2022 delivered it all....cheers my friend....

Both great however the 2022 just delivers more... Cheers fella
Simply put, the 2022. Without doubt. More depth, sherried , mouthfeel, and a class act. 2021, is amazing, but 2022 is brilliantly done. Slainte 🥃

Got it, 56.6 the 2022 and 55.1 the 2021. This makes a difference.

Good stuff Alan!!
I have the ‘21 and a friend has the ‘22….love em both but for me last year’s 10 year old Limited Edition hands down beats them both
Do you think the 12 CS is better than the 18?
imo the cask strength 12 2022 smashes it fella....this is my new bottle of WOW....just sooo goood
Hi Alan. Thanks for this great comparison video. However the 2021 cannot compare with the 2022....... In my opinion of course.
They can't Cliffe hopefully my scores reflect that buddy.. The 2021 is decent however the 2022 is in a different league my friend... Thanks for dropping in Cliff
94/100...the winner!Never seen a 95!😂
Think the Glengoyne 25 might be my only 95 Ian.... However this bunna 12 Cs is wonderful whisky fella...

Which is the Alcohol content on both bottles?
Struggling to get the 21 i got the 22
For me the 2022 is by far the best...the 2023 ramps the abv upto 60.1...also very good...
