great video, Jeff! loved learning more about the synth sounds of the legends. I’m with you on the meh flavor of the Grandmother’s spring reverb, but I really love the delay on my Matriarch!
I really don't like spring reverbs at all, and I have several: Grandmother, b2600(digital ), fender vaporizer combo Amp with spring tank. Imo, the springs have a set resonant frequency which quickly gets old. I like hall type reverbs more.
While my Pro 3 SE can save patches, I do enjoy programming them every time. I think the huge benefit in saving patches on the Pro 3 is that the sequenceer is saved along with the patch, so when I make arpeggios, I would often save those. I use my DAW a lot less since getting the Pro 3 SE.
Ive been torn between getting a Grandmother or Prophet Rev 2. I prefer the Moog sound for leads or single note lines but prefer the Prophet for pads obviously being a poly. But aside from that i feel like i NEED presets for what i do. Its cool seeing somebody like you see it differently and happily using a non preset monosynth live. I appreciate your vantage point here. Thanks for making this vid!
Once I got my Grandmother at Moogfest, I have basically stopped using my LP. On the LP I found I was just using the presets. So now most of my analog synths do not have presets.
Wow. I love that sound. It’s so unique.
Just one tip Jeff: I think having the overhead camera would be highly beneficial for the viewers!
Thank you Jeff, fascinating - looking forward to the next video.
Jeff this is phenomenal info!!! Truly appreciating your efforts and given insights historically and technically! You're the man!💜

I love that delay as well!

Jeff you got an instant sub just for the appearance & presentation and will be studying these most educational videos like a detective inspector

Presets for polyphonic synths for sure!
Very melodic! Do you retrigger the amplitude envelope, or is it pure finger articulation?
I just do it with touch and articulation. I am a piano player, so I like that kind of control thanks!
The Grandmother is a great instrument for playing live - for me the solid keyboard and dials make the difference over most synth keys.
I love playing the Grandma live!

How are you using the modulation?
