"Walk of Life" was one of my favorite tunes from the very first time I heard it, long before RUclips. I never have figured out the connection to sports teams in the USA - the original video goes along with the lyrics, about a guy busking in "the tube" (the London Underground) in the UK. No matter - it's a great song, and always fun and upbeat. Dire Straits became my all-time favorite band, even though I grew up listening to many then-famous rock bands of the 1960's and early '70's, and saw many of them live. I was never able to get to a Dire Straits live show, something I really regret. But fortunately we have many great live Dire Straits concerts on video, and Mark Knopfler is still writing and performing music and lyrics. It's always fun to see other peoples' reaction to hearing Dire Straits for the first time. I hope you'll enjoy other performances - I'm sure other people will recommend good ones in the comments.

Loved to see your enjoyment of this great song and video! Mark Knopfler often uses an American accent to sing

Love Dire Straits. They are a great British rock band from the 70's-90's. Mark Knopfler is one of the best guitarists around. They have had so many hits including "Romeo & Juliet", "Private Investigations", "Twisting By The Pool", "Money For Nothing", "Telegraph Road", "So Far Away", "Brothers In Arms" etc. They don't have a bad song.

My dad used to listen to this _all the time_ at home, and play it on his keyboard. I grew up with sounds like this filling the house :) Happy memories I will always treasure - and a _huge_ influence over my own tastes in music to this day. Can't help but bop my head as soon as the first notes of this tune start playing! :D

this show was from 1984. these guys were so talented it's unreal. Mark Knopfler is a world class guitarist who doesn't get enough recognition. his finger picking style of guitar would inspire and influence many a future guitarist. The fact that this is done live, is mind blowing to me. One of my favorite bands growing up. Had the pleasure of actually meeting Mark before their On Every Street tour, because my father made a lot of their equipment trunks for the tour. He even gave me an autographed copy of the Princess Bride soundtrack which he also made and produced.

It’s a British band possibly appealing to the an American audience with a happy ending. Great, uplifting song though from my childhood.

Great song. One of my favourites from the 80s. A fun song and always guaranteed to get people smiling and moving!
This video is the US version. The original British version is more in keeping with the lyrics, about a subway busker - the song has nothing to do with American sports. It's at ruclips.net/video/H55KgeOaanY/видео.html
