Went to a local album signing when I was 17. A "Tom-boyish" but hot underneath friend of mine since the 4th grade went with me and some other friends. I'll never forget how she was ahead of me and Kevin DuBrow's eyes followed her backside all the way out of the store before he even noticed me (disappointingly). Glad I got to tell her the story at a reunion years later.
Quiet Riot was Randy's band. When he left to play for Ozzy, he gave Kevin Dubrow the rights to the band name at no cost, or so I heard or read somewhere.
Kelly Garni is the original bassist of Quiet Riot that played on the first 2 albums with Randy that were released in Japan. Rudy is pictured on the cover of the second album but he did not play on it.
So here is a fact for you. The lead singer, Kevin Dubrow has a younger brother named Terry Dubrow. He is one of the surgeons on the show Botched on TV. When Kevin would go on tour with Quiet Riot, younger brother Terry would watch his pet cat. He would get paid $5,000-$10,000 each time and that's how Terry paid his way through medical school. I saw Quiet Riot live in 1983.
The world is billions of years old and I was lucky enough to be a teenager in the 80’… Seen Quiet Riot and Girl School in Huntington this tour. Snowed 20+ inches and the concert still went on. Crowd was way smaller so festival seating put us right against the stage. Aqua net and spandex 🤘🤘

Hey Jordan and Amber, interesting fact for you: Ozzy Osbourne guitarist, Randy Rhodes, who played guitar in Ozzy's song " Crazy Train" was the original lead guitarist for Quiet Riot, he was offered the chance to return to the band after he'd finished touring with Ozzy, but he'd died in the plane crash and they'd selected Carlos Cavazo to be the guitarist of the band and would record the song6 "Thunderbird" as a tribute to Randy

Quiet Riot was on everybody's lips in 1983, after their breakout album spawned this song and "Cum On Feel the Noize". Sadly, their second album wasn't as successful, though it did have one hit single "Mama Weer All Crazee Now". After that, they kinda flamed out. All us old headbangers still remember them, though. Ever sadder, we lost lead singer Kevin Dubrow in 2007 at the age of 52.
Actually "Critical Condition" is considered album #4. While the songs on it may have not been as good as those on Metal Health they are still pretty good.

At a Quiet Riot concert in San Diego (the last tour with Kevin Dubrow before he died) I had my greatest pickup ever. Short story, I was at the front of the stage and this gorgeous woman I had been making eye contact with for awhile, made her way over to me, tapped me on the shoulder, and when I turned around, instead of kissing me, she gave me a little headbutt right on the forehead. I thought that was the coolest move ever. She then walked back to where she was before. When I turned back to the stage Carlos Cavazo (the guitar player) was looking at me like "what tge hell just happened?" After the show was over we walked up to each other and left together. Great night.

The 80's was the best decade for music, hands down! It had EVERYTHING...., borrowing from what came before, creating new genres and sounds, and setting the stage for all that would come later. So fortunate to have been a teenager in the 80's....hanging on to that forever!
Nah, musicianship had dropped off by the 80's. It was getting too hard for kids to play, keeping up with the Jimmy Page's, the Clapton's, Frampton's, Van Halen's, it was drift into simpler music. I love the 80's but the extreme virtuosity was for the most part gone. This song is indicative. My 12 year old can playe this, he isn't going to learn and jam through Sultans of Swing in an evening.
A little history fact about Quiet Riot is that the late great guitarist for Ozzy Osborne.....Randy Rhodes was the co-founder with lead singer the late Kevin DuBrow of Quiet Riot when they were in high school together. R.I.P. Randy and Kevin.

Saw them in Germany, 1984. They opened for they opened for The Pretenders. It was an awesome concert!! They sold the sleeveless black and white t-shirts that the lead singer wore at the venue. Everybody was wearing them, including me!

This was what started the early 80s metal scene for me. Moved to Saudi Arabia in 1979 (at9yr) moved back to Texas in 1983 and this was the hottest sound going IMO.
This song, this album paved the way for 80s metal. Before this record companies thought that rock was dead. When this album went #1 that's when record execs started sending people to the clubs on the Sunset Strip to "discover" bands like Motley Crue, W.A.S.P., Van Halen, etc.
@@opencarrier8607 Van Halen debuted in 1978. They, along with AC/DC and ZZ Top carried hard rock through the "easier listening" (Air Supply, Kenny Rogers, Juice Newton) early 80's but it's WELL documented that this album is what jump-started the 80's metal movement.

How old are you dude? It pre-dates QR by a number of years. It dates back to Zeppelin concerts in the early 70's. That's where QR got the idea for incorporating it into a song
My ex and i used to play this album when the kids were babies and they'd bang their heads with us lmao. One of my fondest memories of early motherhood. Those babies are 20 and 15 now. Ha us gen-x parents really have a different yardstick i think. ;)

You cannot fathom how awesome rock and metal in the 80's were. Big hair, high tops, $17 concert tickets, Mad Dog 20/20, "quarters" (party game), and by far, the loudest, most outrageous music. "Bang your head" was a catalyst song that was uber popular when it came out. Lucky to have lived it..... and survive. :D
Saw these guys open for Loverboy back in 83’. It was a fantastic concert. The 80’ was an incredible time, especially when it was your High School and College years!
This is another great one that takes me back. When we moved to Florida in 76, i was 7 and my parents started dragging me to this little church, and all of a sudden i wasn't "allowed" to listen to any good music at home, or see any of the epic movies. This is from FOOTLOOSE, but also, going to the county fair in Eustis Florida, riding the gravitron, and THIS song was jamming. Great memories.
I may be 20 years older, but I was brought up soft rock music like Amber. MTV did "Head Bangers Ball" in the evening. My sweet dad who raised me on the Beatles and Simon and Garfunkel would record it for my twin sister and me. My parents were the best!😉
Their drummer, Frankie Benali, said that they were huge AC/DC fans and that when they (he, along with co-writers Carlos Cavazo, guitarist, and Kevin DuBrow, lead singer) wrote it they "wanted something that had a very simple, straight ahead groove at a certain tempo" like AC/DC made their bones with. A bar that I used to frequent in the 80's played MTV videos on a "big screen" projection TV and piped the music through their sound system. Whenever this song came on, we used to band our foreheads on the bar each time they sang the line "Band your head!" It was considered a badge of honor if you drew blood!

Kevin DuBrow had one of the more unique voices in rock. Frankie was an amazing drummer. Rudy is one of the most prolific bass players around, having played with QR, Ozzy, Whitesnake, and more. And Carlos is truly one of the most underrated guitarists of the rock era. Quiet Riot were a huge influence on me and many other young musicians.

Banging drums, a pounding bass, a screaming lead guitar with awesome riffs (even better if there are more than one like with Judas Priest and Iron Maiden), and a screaming lead singer. The lead singer is Kevin Dubrow who passed away about 20 years ago, the current singer is Jizzy Pearl he’s doing an excellent job,The drummer just passed away less than a year ago, and the original guitarist left the band to go play with Ozzie and was killed in a plane crash, Randy Rhodes
Fun Fact 1: The LEGEND Randy Rhoads was the original guitarist for Quiet Riot. He was quickly scooped up by Ozzy for his first 2 solo albums: Diary Of A Madman, and Blizzard Of Ozz. Fun Fact 2: Bassist Rudy Sarzo, seen here in the red jump suit, was also scooped up by Ozzy. If you watch the video (live tv performance) for Crazy Train you see Rudy in this same red jump suit. Metal Health is a fabulous album from end to end. I had this on vinyl and played the heck out of it. Loved Quiet Riot. Too bad Kevin and Frankie have passed.
Now imagine being 17 and Quiet Riot is dominating every record store, every radio station, and every Saturday night main street summer cruise across small town America.... The original title of the song and the album was actually "Metal Health." Later you would see the song listed as "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)," then it became what you see today "Bang Your Head (Metal Health)." This song along with "Cum on Feel the Noise" resulted in the album becoming the first heavy metal album to hit number one on the album chart, but many others would follow. Eventually leading to the point where Skid Row's second album, "Slave to the Grind" became the first heavy metal album to debut at the number one position. The title track to that album is one you should definitely react to also. I'd have to go look through your videos to be sure, but I think it would probably be the heaviest song you've reacted to so far. And as always, Sebastian Bach's vocals on that track are amazing.

There were more “metal” bands and songs than Quiet Riot and Metal Health, but to me this is THE perfect Heavy Metal Anthem. And say what you want about their music and lack of longevity, but they put Heavy Metal into the mainstream when this album became the first metal album to go #1 on the Billboard Top 200. And there’s no better name for a metal band IMO.
My first concert! Night Ranger was with them. I was on the floor, all the way against a wall, it was about 5' tall, about 15ft of floor seperated that wall from the stage. I was center to the center of the stage. I had taken my Quiet Riot, Metal Health album cover with me, armed with an ignorant notion that I might get it signed by Mr. Kevin Dubrow. I was18 yrs.old & I wore black leather pants. Don't ask me why because IDK, but the people around me threw me over that wall! Security caught me & set me on my feet & faced me in the direction that exited the stage area. I found my way around a corner & to the entrance that was about 50ft back from my original stage spot. I had stood my album cover against that wall in front of my feet. I made my way through so many people & back to where I was because I found my album cover! 2 more times, those arseholes, threw me over that wall, but I made it back, because each time, I returned to the place where my album cover was.😂😂 IDK how & no, I didn't think it would be possible, each and every time. You can imagine how aggravated & frustrated I was! I mean, as soon as, I got back to my spot, they threw me over again! I didn't know who because it was 3-4 guys and they were behind me in a sea of people. 😂😅 I did not get Kevin's signature, but, I guess that album cover was supposed to serve me in a different way that night.💃 Maybe it saved my fabulous spot with an execellent view, that night? After all, peeps tried to pitch me out of it 3x!😂😂 I told my mother that I was going earlier that day. I was so excited! I said, "I'm going to see Quiet Riot It's the Metal Health Tour". Mother: "What"? I said, "Quiet Riot, Metal Health, Mom, they sing, Bang Your Head". Mother:"You were in a quiet riot, banged your head & now you need mental health"? "Never mind, Mom".😂😂😂 😂😂😂😂😂 I didn't know her version would be so seemingly, spot on!😅😂😅😂😅😂 😂😂😅😅😅
This is one of the greatest heavy metal songs of all time. Kevin Dubrow sang his heart out on this song, and he sounded the same live. Great band who's two original members left us way too soon. Great reaction!

They burned out as fast as they lit it up. People moved on. This is the epitome of 80's Heavy Metal. They were a large part of my High School memories being from of the class of 1984.
That's because they changed their signature sound to some mellow after this and Cum On Feel The Noize. It didn't seem like they did heavy metal anymore.

Kevin Dubrow waa the OG lead singer of Quiet Riot. He died of a cocaine overdose in 1996 unfortunately. He had a Helluva voice for Metal. I'm 50 and Quiet Riot : Metal Health was the first record I bought in 1983, I was 11,lol

I’d say the next song you have to do from this group is mama we’re all crazy now off their critical condition album. The wild and the Young it’s probably her other big hit as well as slick Black Cadillac is a decent song. But to my knowledge they only had three American albums and then two that came out in the 70s is Japanese only releases. You got to remember they were only signed because they agreed to do a cover of the song come on feel the Noize which when they did it they did not like. This in my opinion is the most underrated band of the early 80s. It’s so sad that Kevin Duvall who is the lead singer couldn’t keep them together but they never would have survived the grunge movement.

They collaborated in the band Hurricane, and some of their songs: don't wanna dream, dance little sister, I'm on to you, over the edge are a few of their songs.

The lead singer is Kevin Dubrow, who passed some years ago, unfortunately (RIP). This group also included bass player Rudy Sarzo, who also played with Whitesnake and Dio, among other bands. The late, great guitarist Randy Rhoda’s was also in Quiet Riot in a couple of its early years. They were formed in the 1970s but didn’t gain much popularity until the ‘80s…..there was a rumored rivalry with Van Halen as well, mixed in their somewhere.
Back in 1978-79 Quiet Riot was the first band in Hollywood to be signed to a contract, the rest is history! I grew up on the Sunset strip in 1977-80 and seen it all....

The lead vocal, Kevin Dubrow , was the older brother of Dr. Terry Dubrow of ‘Botched’ fame. Sadly, Kevin Dubrow died in 2007 at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, as a result of an overdose of drugs and alcohol. He had been deceased for a week before his remains were discovered. He was buried at Pacific View Cemetery in Corona del Mar, California next to his stepfather Harold Mandell.

In 1983 we saw these guys and so many other great bands at The great American Rock Festival in south east Michigan. The walk from the parking area was like 3 miles. This slick black caddy limo was going down the road and was full of Quiet Riot . They stopped and tossed cold beers to us and were cool just for that. But. Some one saw that my wife was pregnant and lifted she and I up on the trunk and drove us to the show. My first son was born 2 months later and Im pretty sure by all the noise my wife was making. The boy was banging his head all the way out!

Slade was a "Glam Rock" band back in the early 1970's along with the Sweet, Gary Glitter, and others. Neville Holder and Jim Lea from Slade wrote; Cum on Feel the Noize, Ooh La La in L.A., Everyday, Let's Dance, You Boyz, Still the Same, My Oh My, Mama Weer All Crazee Now, Dizzy Mama, Gudbuy T'Jane, How Does It Feel,. The interesting thing about QR is that, unlike most bands, the leader of the band was Frankie Banali, the drummer. He assembled the band and kept it together through all the years until his death from pancreatic cancer in 2016

Seen Quiet Riot and Girl School in Huntington this tour. Snowed 20+ inches and the concert still went on. Crowd was way smaller so festival seating put us right against the stage.

Outside of the 2 Slade covers they did, this was their biggest original hit song. Slick Black Cadillac is a banger as well. Speaking of Slade you should give them a listen. I think Run Runaway would be the perfect introduction to them.

Ozzy Osbourne guitarist, Randy Rhodes, who played guitar in Ozzy's song " Crazy Train" was the original lead guitarist for Quiet Riot, he was offered the chance to return to the band after he'd finished touring with Ozzy, but he'd died in the plane crash and they'd selected Carlos Cavazo to be the guitarist of the band and would record the song6 "Thunderbird" as a tribute to Randy

Quiet Riot was on everybody's lips in 1983, after their breakout album spawned this song and "Cum On Feel the Noize". Sadly, their second album wasn't as successful, though it did have one hit single "Mama Weer All Crazee Now". After that, they kinda flamed out. All us old headbangers still remember them, though. Ever sadder, we lost lead singer Kevin Dubrow in 2007 at the age of 52.
And then lost Frankie a few years ago 😔

At a Quiet Riot concert in San Diego (the last tour with Kevin Dubrow before he died) I had my greatest pickup ever. Short story, I was at the front of the stage and this gorgeous woman I had been making eye contact with for awhile, made her way over to me, tapped me on the shoulder, and when I turned around, instead of kissing me, she gave me a little headbutt right on the forehead. I thought that was the coolest move ever. She then walked back to where she was before. When I turned back to the stage Carlos Cavazo (the guitar player) was looking at me like "what tge hell just happened?" After the show was over we walked up to each other and left together. Great night.

The 80's was the best decade for music, hands down! It had EVERYTHING...., borrowing from what came before, creating new genres and sounds, and setting the stage for all that would come later. So fortunate to have been a teenager in the 80's....hanging on to that forever!
Nah, musicianship had dropped off by the 80's. It was getting too hard for kids to play, keeping up with the Jimmy Page's, the Clapton's, Frampton's, Van Halen's, it was drift into simpler music. I love the 80's but the extreme virtuosity was for the most part gone. This song is indicative. My 12 year old can playe this, he isn't going to learn and jam through Sultans of Swing in an evening.

This was what started the early 80s metal scene for me. Moved to Saudi Arabia in 1979 (at9yr) moved back to Texas in 1983 and this was the hottest sound going IMO.

This song, this album paved the way for 80s metal. Before this record companies thought that rock was dead. When this album went #1 that's when record execs started sending people to the clubs on the Sunset Strip to "discover" bands like Motley Crue, W.A.S.P., Van Halen, etc.

How old are you dude? It pre-dates QR by a number of years. It dates back to Zeppelin concerts in the early 70's. That's where QR got the idea for incorporating it into a song
My ex and i used to play this album when the kids were babies and they'd bang their heads with us lmao. One of my fondest memories of early motherhood. Those babies are 20 and 15 now.

You cannot fathom how awesome rock and metal in the 80's were. Big hair, high tops, $17 concert tickets, Mad Dog 20/20, "quarters" (party game), and by far, the loudest, most outrageous music. "Bang your head" was a catalyst song that was uber popular when it came out. Lucky to have lived it..... and survive. :D
Saw these guys open for Loverboy back in 83’. It was a fantastic concert. The 80’ was an incredible time, especially when it was your High School and College years!
This is another great one that takes me back. When we moved to Florida in 76, i was 7 and my parents started dragging me to this little church, and all of a sudden i wasn't "allowed" to listen to any good music at home, or see any of the epic movies. This is from FOOTLOOSE, but also, going to the county fair in Eustis Florida, riding the gravitron, and THIS song was jamming. Great memories.

I may be 20 years older, but I was brought up soft rock music like Amber. MTV did "Head Bangers Ball" in the evening. My sweet dad who raised me on the Beatles and Simon and Garfunkel would record it for my twin sister and me. My parents were the best!😉
Their drummer, Frankie Benali, said that they were huge AC/DC fans and that when they (he, along with co-writers Carlos Cavazo, guitarist, and Kevin DuBrow, lead singer) wrote it they "wanted something that had a very simple, straight ahead groove at a certain tempo" like AC/DC made their bones with. A bar that I used to frequent in the 80's played MTV videos on a "big screen" projection TV and piped the music through their sound system. Whenever this song came on, we used to band our foreheads on the bar each time they sang the line "Band your head!" It was considered a badge of honor if you drew blood!

Kevin DuBrow had one of the more unique voices in rock. Frankie was an amazing drummer. Rudy is one of the most prolific bass players around, having played with QR, Ozzy, Whitesnake, and more. And Carlos is truly one of the most underrated guitarists of the rock era.
Quiet Riot were a huge influence on me and many other young musicians.
RIP Kevin.

The lead singer is Kevin Dubrow who passed away about 20 years ago, the current singer is Jizzy Pearl he’s doing an excellent job,The drummer just passed away less than a year ago, and the original guitarist left the band to go play with Ozzie and was killed in a plane crash, Randy Rhodes

Metal Health is a fabulous album from end to end. I had this on vinyl and played the heck out of it. Loved Quiet Riot. Too bad Kevin and Frankie have passed.

The original title of the song and the album was actually "Metal Health." Later you would see the song listed as "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)," then it became what you see today "Bang Your Head (Metal Health)." This song along with "Cum on Feel the Noise" resulted in the album becoming the first heavy metal album to hit number one on the album chart, but many others would follow. Eventually leading to the point where Skid Row's second album, "Slave to the Grind" became the first heavy metal album to debut at the number one position. The title track to that album is one you should definitely react to also. I'd have to go look through your videos to be sure, but I think it would probably be the heaviest song you've reacted to so far. And as always, Sebastian Bach's vocals on that track are amazing.
Quiet Riot were larger than life for a while. Other songs that made the rounds on MTV and the radio include: "Slick Black Cadillac," "Mama Weer All Crazee Now," "Party All Night," "The Wild and the Young" and "Let's Get Crazy."
There were more “metal” bands and songs than Quiet Riot and Metal Health, but to me this is THE perfect Heavy Metal Anthem. And say what you want about their music and lack of longevity, but they put Heavy Metal into the mainstream when this album became the first metal album to go #1 on the Billboard Top 200. And there’s no better name for a metal band IMO.

I was on the floor, all the way against a wall, it was about 5' tall, about 15ft of floor seperated that wall from the stage. I was center to the center of the stage.
I had taken my Quiet Riot, Metal Health album cover with me, armed with an ignorant notion that I might get it signed by Mr. Kevin Dubrow. I was18 yrs.old & I wore black leather pants.
Don't ask me why because IDK, but the people around me threw me over that wall! Security caught me & set me on my feet & faced me in the direction that exited the stage area.
I found my way around a corner & to the entrance that was about 50ft back from my original stage spot.
I had stood my album cover against that wall in front of my feet.
I made my way through so many people & back to where I was because I found my album cover!
2 more times, those arseholes, threw me over that wall, but I made it back, because each time, I returned to the place where my album cover was.😂😂
IDK how & no, I didn't think it would be possible, each and every time.
You can imagine how aggravated & frustrated I was! I mean, as soon as, I got back to my spot, they threw me over again!
I didn't know who because it was 3-4 guys and they were behind me in a sea of people. 😂😅
I did not get Kevin's signature, but, I guess that album cover was supposed to serve me in a different way that night.💃

Kevin Dubrow waa the OG lead singer of Quiet Riot. He died of a cocaine overdose in 1996 unfortunately. He had a Helluva voice for Metal. I'm 50 and Quiet Riot : Metal Health was the first record I bought in 1983, I was 11,lol

This album "Metal Health" is historically significant because it's the very first metal album to go #1 in the U.S. An 80's classic.
I’d say the next song you have to do from this group is mama we’re all crazy now off their critical condition album. The wild and the Young it’s probably her other big hit as well as slick Black Cadillac is a decent song. But to my knowledge they only had three American albums and then two that came out in the 70s is Japanese only releases. You got to remember they were only signed because they agreed to do a cover of the song come on feel the Noize which when they did it they did not like. This in my opinion is the most underrated band of the early 80s. It’s so sad that Kevin Duvall who is the lead singer couldn’t keep them together but they never would have survived the grunge movement.

The lead vocal, Kevin Dubrow , was the older brother of Dr. Terry Dubrow of ‘Botched’ fame. Sadly, Kevin Dubrow died in 2007 at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, as a result of an overdose of drugs and alcohol. He had been deceased for a week before his remains were discovered. He was buried at Pacific View Cemetery in Corona del Mar, California next to his stepfather Harold Mandell.

The singer is Kevin Dubrow (RIP). Seen them a couple times. Met him at the meet and greet in Kalamazoo Michigan after their show. Other great songs by Quiet Riot is Mama Weer All Crazy Now, Slick Black Cadillac and Sign Of The Times to name a few!!!
In 1983 we saw these guys and so many other great bands at The great American Rock Festival in south east Michigan. The walk from the parking area was like 3 miles. This slick black caddy limo was going down the road and was full of Quiet Riot . They stopped and tossed cold beers to us and were cool just for that. But. Some one saw that my wife was pregnant and lifted she and I up on the trunk and drove us to the show. My first son was born 2 months later and Im pretty sure by all the noise my wife was making. The boy was banging his head all the way out!
Lead singer is Kevin DuBorrow and another interesting fact about this group is they were founded by legendary Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Randy Rhodes!
There is a movie you can probably find on your cable called “Well Now You’re Here” that is a great rockumentary and goes into why they were not a lot more famous even though they basically pioneered the 80s metal sound.

Quiet Riot is a really good band. The lead singer of Quiet Riot sounds very much like the lead singer of Slade. Slade was a "Glam Rock" band back in the early 1970's along with the Sweet, Gary Glitter, and others. Neville Holder and Jim Lea from Slade wrote; Cum on Feel the Noize, Ooh La La in L.A., Everyday, Let's Dance, You Boyz, Still the Same, My Oh My, Mama Weer All Crazee Now, Dizzy Mama, Gudbuy T'Jane, How Does It Feel,. Thay also also recorded songs from other artists. Please find the time in the future to check these out. They will definitely keep you awake! Great reaction, you two!
