Rich, I think Randy only played with the band in 77’-78’? Carlos Cavaso I believe was the guitarist at this time.
Correct. Carlos Cavazo was the guitarist for this Riot album; underrated and under appreciated if you ask me...doesn't get much mention. Great pick, BTW Kel-n-Rich. I LOVED this album when it came out and still reminisce and replay their songs from time-to-time.
Yeah, Randy recorded the two Japanese records with QR, and then went off with Ozzy shortly afterwards.
After Rhoads left to join Ozzy Quiet Riot broke up. Dubrow formed his own band named Dubrow but eventually put a whole new band together and used the Quiet Riot name. Metal Health is what i consider the first Quiet Riot album even though there were those two late 70s japan only albums with Rhoads.
Carlos is now a member of the band Ratt
@@prs149 - Carlos hasn't been in Ratt for a year now. He quit after Warren Demartini got fired.
Quiet Riot were the ones who kicked down the wall and exposed the rest of the world to "metal" or heavy rock. This was a mile marker in rock history. 50's = Elvis, 60's = Beatles, 70's = Van Halen, 80's = Quiet Riot. Like the 90's = Nirvana etc. Yes, this band really helped heavy music hit the mainstream.
WTF is nirvana?
This tune kicked the door down and paved the way for Metal to become the biggest music in the world for the rest of the decade.
Hey Rich n Kel. The name of this song was my inspiration for Metal Therapy when I was working in the prison. I played this to a couple of guys who actually banged their heads against things all the time. I got them to bang their heads to music instead of against walls. Peace \m/
Quiet Riot "Metal Health" was also my first metal cassette! I had to buy two more of it because I wore it out lol
Always wanted the mask!
Quiet Riot broke through as the first hard rock/hair metal act to really make it big on MTV. They paved the way for Motley Crue, Ratt, Twisted Sister, Poison, Dokken, etc. to get more exposure. The LA glam scene pretty much started with them. Randy Rhoads was in an earlier version of Quiet Riot and had left the band to find success in Ozzy's group.
Wow such a throwback....great song, You should have her checkout some TWISTED SISTER!!! But this song brings back memories.
OK. You just dropped Twisted Sister. It’s going down today. I just decided. Let the haters come out in full force. It doesn’t matter. Stay Hungry totally moved me and got me through some tuff wresting practices and weightlifting training back in the day.
@@Kel.N.RichReactions Believe it or not, this is my first time seeing the Metal Health video! We never had cable/MTV and I just never got around to watching it...until now. Kinda makes the song seem a little more CRAZY. Good job, KnR!
the guitarist in the video was Carlos Cavossa(sp?) and the bassist was Rudy Sarzo. They were the band that introduced me to metal as well and I loved metal since. It was fun watching Kel rock out to them.
To kel and rich"it is refreshing to see you react to these songs for the first time, makes me feel young again, thank you both."❤🎉
We are here together. It’s our absolute pleasure to experience the music, side-by-side, and as well, with you. Thank you so much for the kind comment and reaching out. Feeling young again and feeling like things are good can never be overrated.
Much love and thanks ,
❤️KnR❤️💪🏼🌴
Quiet Riot kicks ass. What a great song.
I'd love to see you guys react to Krokus - Screaming In the Night. Another great metal band from the 80's.
"Screaming in the Night" is a metal dark horse! Very underrated!
our love is a great song by krokus.
@@Hollingsworth2781 I agree love krokus
@@chrisbudberg8769 another great singer.
Yes, good choice...pretty much anything from Headhunter. Eat the Rich, Ready to Burn...
An incredible metal song. One of my very, very favorites. I think it’s the epitome of metal in 1983.
Rich, you being in south Florida. There was a bar in Fort Lauderdale called Rosebuds. I got to see Quiet Riot there live. This was in the 90s, and they put on a hell of a show. Loved the reaction.
OMG... classic!!!!!! Yes yes .. you are awesome for bring this back today on your kickass channel 💯❤️✌️.. and of course 🤘... always love n respect and always stay you, stay up and stay blessed 💯❤️✌️
Kevin DuBrow - singer; Carlos cavazo - guitar; Rudy Sarzo - bass; Frankie Banali - Drums
Underrated band and Kevin Dubrow very underrated vocalist. Helped start a genre....RIP......
Rich and Kel......I'm glad you're back.....we grew up together.
i have`nt even watched the video yet, but i want you guys to know that i really appreciate what you are doing, i really care about you !
to Quiet Riot singer, Kevin DuBrow, R.I.P.
Yep, I was there for sure! This is the very first song I learned how to play on the bass guitar, and the first band I was in played it in front of our entire middle school at our seventh grade talent show! Still a fan...
Kevin Bacon pulling up at school in footloose one my favorite movie scenes
Searching for quiet riot and this came across my feed 🤘🤘 you guys are pretty cool. This was the first metal song I ever listened to when it came out way back lol. I was 8. My 1st concert though was a year earlier, my uncle Ronnie was the drummer for the Joe Perry project, so my dad took me to that. But man this was the time to be a metal head 🤘🤘
Krokus- Screaming in the Night
Dokken- Til the Livin End
#painintheask
I was about to suggest Dokken. One of few glam bands who have a plethora of amazing songs thanks to the great George Lynch and Don's angelic voice.
Dokken best IMO is Paris is Burning, Breaking the Chains, Nightrider, Alone Again, Tooth And Nail, Into the Fire, Turn on the Action, Unchain the Night, In My Dreams, Lightnin Strikes Again, Til the Livin End, Kiss of Death, Mr. Scary, Heaven Sent and Dream Warriors
Loved both of them. Dokken was a band you could chill out with your girl to😎😁
Rocken with Dokken , LOL
I remember rocking to this song on MTV!
I got to see these guys in 2006 on tour with Skid Row just before Kevin passed, and it was just as awesome then as it was in the 80's.
Got into these guys 'cuz I was a Slade fan. This tape was cranked in my car a lot in '83. Good memories.
Next Twisted Sister - We We're Not Gonna Take It
You said it man. It was a great time with great fun music. I was in bands then and it has never been better.
Man. O man talk about a walk down memory lane. Thanks y'all
I remember cruising around in my buddy's piece of junk orange van with big ass speakers in it listening to this blasting. Good times.
Thanks kel M rich quiet riot mental health n deflepard pyromania was my start to metal music christmas 1983 god bless !
This is a song with a lot of memories. Working with friend T. Anderson at Red Lobster many years ago he introduced me to getting high and cruising and this song came on the radio and he was totally hooked. Another song at time at that did the same was Rockin Roll Party in the Streets by Axe. Anyhow, we both left and lost contact after we both joined the Air Force. No smoking since then of course. Almost 40 years with Air Force still today.
Quiet Riot was the first "Metal" style band to score a #1 hit with "come on feel the noise". They also opened up spandex and big hair to the masses (fashion changes). The message of most metal was party and have fun when you were young, life gets complicated the older you get. It literally changed the cultural/life direction of millions of people, like with hippies in the late 60's. I'm a metal head to the end!
Brings back great memories!
Love the Old school stuff!!! You the man Rich, I was right with you when Mtv was actually music!! Lol!!
Rich, need to get Kel into Suicidal Tendencies- How will I laugh tomorrow!!!
And/or
Volbeat- Doc Holiday, or still counting!!! Volbeat has a Metallica sound musically, suicidal is just suicidal!!!!
Reason why... Suicidal got me through some tough times, and Volbeat just has a killer sound, took me back to the days of my concerts!!! :)) much love guys!!
Volbeat is awesome! Metallica + Elvis + Johnny cash = volbeat. Doc holiday is a great recommendation. For suicidal tendencies, check out "don't bring me down "
Gawds! What times!
GIVE ME MY 80’s BACK!!!
Rich, for me this holds the place that Boston held for you. This was the first song when I was six, in my elder brother's basement bedroom that changed my life! It's awesome! And honestly Kel's discovery of these bands and songs is such a blast! RIP Kevin Dubrow and my brother Michael.
Twisted Sister was the shit that I used to bring my not so Metal friends into my Headbanging world & Ozzy helped a lot too
This is a time when music was music. If this song was made today there would be all of the OVER SENSITIVE people complaining and try to get Quiet Riot canceled.
This song just grabs you and pounds your heart in a good way.
Saw Quiet Riot in 1983 warming up for Black Sabbath. They really knew how to get the crowd fired up!!!!
Thats high school for me. Its fun music just rockin every day. R.i.p. K.D.
QR were as important for me as Iron Maiden and Def Leppard to begin my lifelong journey as a young metal head. Thank you for sharing this.
This was after Randy Rhodes...its Carlos Cavazo on guitar..but this started Hair Metal..i was in middle school when this was popular..i had the cassette with me and the teacher wanted me and my friend to do the film projector...i slipped this cassette into the player...Lights out and this drum intro started ...The teacher freaked but everyone else loved it..lol after the film they all wanted it played ,,Great reaction as always
You guys are awesome, love the laid back personality!
Loved these dudes back in the day.
The 1st metal band to bust open Billboard's top 40, thus they opened the floodgates for all metal bands to have the same chance.
Love this! Glad Kel got to enjoy it. FUN FACT: lead singer Kevin Dubrow, who died in 2007, is the brother of Dr. Terry Dubrow, who along with Dr. Paul Nasif, appear in the medical reality series 'Botched'.
I remember turning up the radio to this song. Oh I was so young, only 20 years young. When mtv came out the music came to life. The music today doesn’t come close.
Rich is so right there was so many bands coming out at this time you could not keep up!
That is definitely a blast from the past! Between that song and Twisted Sister, and maybe ACDC, that was my first metal exposure! I was lucky enough to have cable when MTV first started! I miss those days! Without using Google can anyone say what the first song was? Was anyone else in front of the TV watching this like I did? Rich do you remember? Remember Headbangers Ball? Rikki Rachtman?
HA HA the song were it started me on my path to the dark side of rock/metal i was only 4 years old back in the 80,s man them were such a great time to be a kid . MTV was a huge part of my life ..back then everything just looked and felt new .miss them days .
Love quite riot can rember being young and my mom had the record album quite riot me and my older sister while mom was at work would jam to this
Yup, that was the song that started it all for me too. We must be the same age.
PS - Kel has awesome taste!
great talk about your selections and they are great, thank you for your time. I am 73 so I haven't missed too much but I have seen some new ones here.💚
And just to clarify, that's Carlos Cavazo on lead guitar, not Randy.
Also, Rudy Sarzo (who toured with Ozzy and Randy) re-joined Quiet Riot sometime after Randy's death (which was in March 1982), and they released this album in March of 1983.
I really appreciated your intro and totally agree with your take on choosing tunes. This is definitely a song that I cherished from the first moment I heard it back in !83!
Loved Quiet Riot as a kid. Much later i realized that they on that they just piggy back on the success of Slade, by covering some of their songs. But, I gained a whole new love and respect for Slade, so I guess still a win.
I remember seeing Quiet Riot with Randy in 1979 in a small Club in Monrovia California before he left to join Ozzy in 1980. Interesting enough the band that opened for them was named SNOW and their lead guitarist was Carlos cavazo who played on this album.
Saw these guys on that tour....so many moons ago.
I know this is late comment, but I’m just watching your reaction and I saw Quiet Riot open for Black Sabbath in 1983. This was great album that really made the big heavy artists of the day to take notice. They were actually better than Sabbath and I really enjoyed that time of my life.
I love you guys! Keep the videos coming!
Ah 1983 - 8th grade, what a kick ass year to be a young human in America. Best acoustic intro, was also from early 80s - Zebra Who's Behind the Door.
This takes me back!! WOW - very teenage angsty memories growing up, thank you for this :)
That's right buddy. Quiet Riot. Opened door... Saw them on this tour. Oct 83. Whitesnake opened. Slide it in album. Wow. Quiet riot Glow in the dark t shirts. 1st big city concert. Epic
The is song is one of my all time favorites 🤘i saw the band in a small club in Michigan 15 years ago what a fun night
the FIRST metal song i ever heard! i LOVE it!!
Loves a Bitch, Condition Critical, Cum On Feel the Noize....
Too funny, I just heard this again randomly come on the classic rock station I sometimes listen to. Still holds up incredibly well.
Miss you both!
Dude, you are blessed to have a beautiful young woman who you were able to get to listen to the music we grew up with, I’m 47 and my beautiful young wife who is ten years younger than me grew up listening to r&b and rap, we been together 17 years now and no matter how hard I try, she cannot get into the music we grew up with, fortunately she’ll listen to AC/DC but then again who won’t lol.
I hear ya. Thank you so much for reminding me how blessed we are. Each time I look over to Kel being lost in the music, I count my lucky stars and pray for her safety, her health and her good fortune. Cheers.
This song was written for Kel lol...."Join the pack, feel the crack, now you're here theres no way back!" Thats gold!
Rich we were riding the bus to 3rd or 4th grade. It was so awesome.
Love 80s
Holy F ! I never knew that I never saw the concept video for "Bang Your Head" before !
You guys...this is YOUR channel...I don't feel the need for you to explain yourselves, but maybe you feel that there are some that need to hear it, and I respect that. ROCK ON!!! \m/ \m/
(I've only discovered you in the past week and I've only been a sub for a couple of days, but you are growing on me....fast!)
Nice! A classic. This takes me back to mowing the lawn with this cassette blaring in my headphones at age 11 or 12. 🤟
Love you guys, great channel!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘❤️❤️
Metal Health is one of my all time fav albums! Its so good! Their cover of Cum on feel the Noize is brilliant, love it so much!
Well said at the beggining....If i played my collection back to back i'd still be listening this time next year..and so glad unlike all other reactions channels that your not doing what everyone else has by doing the same songs just to rack up your views..this one is one of the all time best Heavy Metal anthems....METAL IN THE BLOOD
i appreciate what u do and the effort u put into it. love ur song choices and ur reactions...
Oh, and it was a kick to see Kel's reaction to the video as much as anything else, haha....love it!
As I recall, Rudy Sarzp (bassist) joined Quiet Riot after leaving Ozzy Osbourne’s solo band after Randy Rhoads died at such a young age. Rudy went on to play with Whitesnake after this...
Brings me back to that night in old Buckroe Beach cruising by the wooden roller coaster in the surfer side of town in a car full of teens (including a preachers son) on quaaludes and beer looking for girls and ending up at Corvettes strip club all night back in the late 80's. We jammed this song so loud that night that the dead heard it I'm sure !
Relax Rich you have a very suave distinctive voice and pretty knowledgeable in your viewpoints,You 2 are an adorable couple and I commend you for staying together after that terrible tragedy! I lost a twin brother at age 23 and it was devastating and I still hurt from it.That was 34 years ago and keep doing what your doing, very entertaining!
Haha, I remember when this was popular! I some them in concert in the early to mid 80's! Memories!!
Just wake up and what?? 11 NEW reaction videos.... I'm gonna be late today. Work can wait!!!
83 what a great year in music!!!
My first metal band! I had to buy that cassette 3 times because I wore them out lol
First metal album to hit #1 in the charts
How much fun did they have running around the world, playing this in 1982?
The best decade ever the 80's
Thats it, MTV, every day, all day, all night, they played this one it seems endlessly, but we didn't tire of it, it was such fun, I love the part where they show the medical staff have been mowed down by the escapees, lol just classic, it was fun when the metal bands poked a little fun, think you've listened to Ratt, "Round and Round",.hope you saw the original video,.it was hilarious too, with an iconic comedian Milton Berle, he started in Vaudeville, I think!, the idea that working through the 40's, 50's, 60,'s, and to be in a rock video in the 80's?!, thats amazing, I don't know why they put him in it, whose idea it was but, I'm so glad they did, he died not too long after, but an old entertainer who jamed with the likes of Cid Ceasar, Jack Benny, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball, Imogene Coco(who was Aunt Edna in original Griswald family Vacation, with Chevy Chase)etc. ROCKED !, it out.on his way out!, that's awesome. Ya'll keep rocking too, Peace✌
Rip Kevin ❤️ Loved seeing this reacted to!
This whole album was incredible! They broke the LA scene for everyone else. It's great watching the documentaries from back then... They really open your eyes & give insight into how much influence the Sunset Strip had on the successes of the bands.
A great time in music, unfortunately it became formulaic at the end. Many people say "Grunge" killed (hair) metal. No, it killed itself, along with G'nR. Grunge just came at the right time.
I love all of it! Great music never dies!
You just opened up my childhood with that! Sometimes it's easy to forget that some have never heard what molded us! I wanna rock by twisted sister and I can't drive 55 by sammy hagar should definitely be 2 on the ever growing list!
That song started the whole head banging phrase. Never was said until that song was released. 1983
Riot - Bloodstreets,or any other song form their Thunderstel album, my west germany cousin brought a copied cassette as they visited us in the east back in 1988, and 12yo me was hooked. Luckily 1 year later the iron curtain broke down and I got access to all the great music.
But away from that they are a kick ass band.
This was a great time in music for so many of us...1983 was when I got into hard rock and metal, Motley Crue, Dokken, Ratt, Scorpions, Def Leppard, Quiet Riot.... there are too many to try to name them all, but what a great time to be into music! Fun video too. Kevin DuBrow was a character for sure.... all their videos are the stuff of cheese and just pure fun. No political/social messages - just a party. You guys are awesome and it's fun to watch Kel experience something that is so meaningful to us who were able to have access to this movement at the time.
Got to see Quiet Riot after Kevin Dubrow and the band cleaned up their act for a while and it was a blast. Their other notable hit was Mama, Weer All Crazy Now which was originally written by Slade. Personally I always liked Slick Black Cadillac. Side note, Dubrow's brother is one of the plastic surgeons on Botched, the TV show, where peoples' messed up plastic surgeries are repaired. I saw this the first time on TV and told my wife they were going to be the next big thing.
lol I love Quiet Riot. Wish they would have lasted longer!
Saw them opening for Loverboy in the 80s, fun show
I agree Screaming in the night by KROKUS. BUT BACK TO QUIET RIOT. This was one of the most popular sought after albums of my social group at that time of my life. We went so crazy over this album . Thanks so much for sharing it with everyone.
My first cassette when I was 13 of any band.
