I had the same issue. I changed the suspension air bags and the decant balls (compressor) and still had the same issue. Then I took the sensor apart and lubricated with WD40 and moved it around until it was easily movable and so far no light. Thx

May I ask how you drilled it down to knowing it was the suspension level sensor? That chassis message could link to a number of different issues?
Probably by using a diagnostic tool.

Same prob car up too much from the back looks like suv after changing bag. Drove a bit but not adjusting or coming down. Any advise much appreciated.
Try scanning for trouble code on the suspension, Maybe you need to code in the new bag to work properly.

@@soccermavaustin I got it coded off. By a shop in Anaheim ca called Ssr performance. They charged me $300. Hope this helps

Hi Michael Macco, The part is having a hard time to move because of rust build up on the ball joint of the sensor and the ball is not smoothly round anymore because of rust stuck on it, Anyway the part I bought is moving smoothly and not that expensive because it's a used part from ebay. I think it's less than $50 that I paid for the part, Do you have the same issue with your car?

I’ve been getting the same message on x5, but I also notice that the right side of the car is tilted. Has someone has similar issue?
Hi, If your car is tilted check the suspension coil springs, Check for any abnormality on the springs, Sensors are detecting the tilting of your car that is why you are getting the message.
I suggest maybe change all 4 suspension coil springs with new ones to resolve the tilting problem.

2017 x5 e40 checked all the plugs looks good. Thus error code still there. Why? Great video BTW! Wonderful Engineering mindset!
Hi, Unplug and inspect sensor connection on all suspension sensors, Re-plug back and check for error again, If there is still error, You might have a defective sensor somewhere on the suspension. Check for corroded ball joints on sensors.
You might have to remove the sensor and check for smooth operation of the joints.

Yes. I have the same car, 2017 X5 40e. I get the message but very rarely ( once every 2 or 3 months) and it goes away after a few minutes
I have a 2016 BMW X5 and I have the same issue just popped up yesterday. Would it be at the same location? also, wouldn’t it be something else like compressor itself? Thank you
I think they would be in the same location as every BMW models. If you have problem adjusting the ride height of your X5, In my opinion this could be that the air compressor is defective.

I got this chassis function restricted code when I installed KW HAS coil overs to the front of my F82. These retain the factory EDC controls since the sustpension is the same except for lower springs. Well the two sensors in the front both got confused and stupid at the same time. I had a couple extra low mileage spares and swapped them out but still have chassis restriction. I have no idea what to do except for maybe replacing the wires, because maybe they got pinched in the new retainer? Or I might have to buy two new sensors as well, though that seems quite doubtful. Wires and sensors together brand new are around $500, so I’ve been looking for another fix because these solutions don’t seem that they’re the plausible cause. Anyone run into this issue?
Hi, Sorry for the delay, Try cleaning out the EDC cable connectors on the shock absorbers with compressed air and make sure that they were plugged properly and have good connection contacts. Put a bit of WD40 on the connector rubber sealer of the plug so it will slide in properly and make good contact, Don't put any WD40 on the connector itself, Just the rubber sealer, This might solved your problems.

I have the same issue Bmw m4 it only started to happen after I hit something in the freeway it comes ONLY when I’m driving super slow and I’m turning the wheel all the way I haven’t gotten it looked at because I turn off the car and it goes away then pops up like months later … wish me luck

My light just came on yesterday. I have a 435i. Is it ok to drive safely till I get to shop I’m 2 hours away. The beeping noise is making me crazy

I’m getting the same message. Wasn’t noticing a problem at first but today the read of the car has full dropped low and bounces around quite severely from the rear when just driving. Any advice? Thanks mate
Adam C, Bouncing of the car means your shock absorber is broken and needs to be replaced, Check the rear springs under your car if still OK, Then just the shocks need to be replaced. Hope this helps you.

@@edcardiy thanks mate. From your experience is this a simple fix and what should I expect cost wise if taken to the garage.
Depending on how expensive the parts (shock absorbers) and the cost of labor (probably about 1 to 1.5 hour to replace the shocks). This is just an estimate.

I have the above message with a very intolerable bumpy ride started happening recently. Back of x5 is down too. Would it be a one or both sensors of shocks?
Sharif Ahmad, Remove, verify and lubricate joints for both front & back sensors, Make sure that joints on sensors should move freely before installing back. Hope this helps you.

I'm having the same issue with my 2017 x5M after an aggressive acceleration on the highway. I slammed the accelerator and hit 100mph and then got the same dash warning. The car became very bouncy. When I parked, the rear was sagging. This just happened yesterday. 😢

maybe just checked the wires first to see if they had come loose? I dont know.

Hi, Check all sensors on the suspension front and back, Check for stuck or rusted level sensor, Without starting the car, check any loose connector on the sensors, Un-plug and plug back in the connector and make sure it has a good contact.
If you still have the error message, you might have a faulty suspension sensor somewhere.

I got the same code along with like 5 other codes and my power steering gets a little rough. Will that be the cause of multiple codes?
Probably, Just get the front suspension checked, That could be the cause of your rough steering feel.

This message come up today, my car bounces quite a lot some times at random, if I pull up at a set of lights, sometimes after I drive off it will start bouncing, today the suspension didn’t lift up at all, very low, and advice ?
Verify your suspension (shock absorber & coil springs) they could be defective.

I have a 2016 bmw x6m I’ve changed the compressor air suspension and the height level control sensor still not fixing the issue the car it’s still leaning on one side…😢
The air bag suspension on the leaning side might not be getting the same amount of air that is why it's leaning on one side, Maybe it's defective or it has a slow leak.

I think it's multi purpose and comes up as light sensor for some reason.
I have a BMW 525D Xdrive 2012. Lately I have got this message "Cornering ability restricted". The next message " Dynamic Damping Control". Dynamic Damping control failure. Corneing ability and driving comfort restriced. Drive moderately. Have the problem chcked by your BMW service. Do you know why I have got this message? Can it be something wrong with my suspension level sensor?
I think the problem is your adaptive suspension shock absorber, Maybe they are defective, Have it checked out.

@@edcardiy Thank you very much for your ansver. I have checked out all my suspension levels sensors. Both rear sensors were stuck with rust. I have tried to remove the rust with wd40 rust relase and wd40 silicone. I have to move the parts many time to loosen it. After a long treatment and moving the parts several hundred time. After I installed all the suspension level sensors. The level of he car is much better, but still I get the same errors. I have found used original BMW parts. The front suspension sensors were not stuck with rust and it is easy to move them freely after some treatment. I have a broken right front coil spring. Can it cause problem for the suspension level sensors? I think my rear suspension level sensors are bad.
I had a visit on my car workshop, an BMW expert he said it is very normal the rear suspension level sensors get faulty because of rust and he told me to replace the rear sensors. I still have the same error message, it has stopped popping up all the time. It seems the lubricate job works.

Vérifiez simplement les deux capteurs avant et arrière, vérifiez lequel est corrodé sur le capteur, puis vaporisez du lubrifiant pour desserrer le joint du capteur.

@@edcardiybonjour j’ai le meme problème sur ma m3 g80 châssis fonction limitée j ai regardé le capteur de suspension je le suis aperçu qui manque la tige est ce que ça peut être du à ce problème que le voyant châssis fonction limitée soit allumée faut il change la pieces compete ou remplacé la tige merci de votre réponse.
bien sur la tige est là pour mesurer le niveau de la suspension. achetez simplement la pièce de rechange et installez-la.@@Snatch94

Hi daniel morales jr, You might have the problem somewhere else on the suspension, Check all suspension sensors and their connector plugs, make sure that they have good contacts and not disconnected.

What about bouncing of car
Esther S, When your car is bouncing when running over potholes or bumps, It means that your shocks are defective and needs to be replaced.
