Gotta agree with you here. My top three g shocks are the gw-5000, the gw-6900 and the ga-b2100. You get a little bit of everything with that combo. The screwdown case back made in japan fancy gw-5000, the casual comfortable beater in the 6900 and the lightweight bluetooth ana-digi piece that is the 2100. As much as I love all of them, I find myself wearing the 6900 more often than anything
I collect watches from $15 Casio Databank to $7,800 Omega Seamaster 300M Chronograph, and I will tell you G-Shock is a favorite of mine to collect, but a real rabbit hole when it comes down to models and colors and functionality!
I had the 5610 at first and then tried on the 6900 which I prefer more as well. Both are great to their own but I personally think 5610 has that classic look and 6900 with its sporty look.
I bought a 5610 on your (and others) recommendation. Luckily I unknowingly bought the new version. Great watch and I wholeheartedly agree that it’s objectively the best watch money can buy, for me.
On a random side note, I didn’t want to ruin my 5610 at work as I have a manual job (defies the point I know). So I bought an f-91w as they’re cheaply replaceable if damaged. Obviously it’s an icon, even with normies. But I’m surprised how much I like it from a purely watch nerd perspective, has everything you need and nothing you don’t, and an awful backlight.. quite amazing considering the design brief would’ve been: make it cheap
My first G-Shock was a GWM5610-1ER. Still wear & like it. My only other G-Shock is a GW-5000U-1JF - more supple strap, screw down caseback & stealth looks
I just got both of these around new year and can't get over how much I love them. Can't go wrong with either. I ended up upgrading to the GW-5000 as my daily watch. I definitely don't have a problem establishing an emotional connection to either of these. We'll be going on a lot of adventures together.
Another cool feature of the GWM5610u, not sure if it was on the previous GWM5610, is that no matter which mode you are in, if you press and hold the mode button for 2 seconds, you hear a double beep and the screen returns to the standard time screen, darn useful.
Brighter screens are a nice touch but I also prefer the classic green. That green light is what we were raised on. Maybe this will make the original 5610 more collectible. the new one also has the best display for world time
I find the 5610 to be utter perfection. It is just so darn comfortable to wear it’s a classic. I also have a Rangman and find it clunky. This looks like a great option as well! Like you I have many expensive watches by G-Shocks are still super cool!
Thanks to this video, I just ordered a GWM5610u variant. I wanted a cheap beater travel watch to pair with my recently received Grand Seiko Mistflake and some of the updated features of the G-Shock module really tickled my fancy
Of all the model experimentation Casio has attempted, I believe the 5 button, round G-Shock was the first true improvement to the Square original. Loved the vid!
The 6900 is my goto go anywhere watch, that I always grab and throw on when I’m just doing…stuff. She’s no oil painting, but it’s as tough as nails and oh so reliable.
What an amazing video, my life has been fulfilled !!! Seriously, My favorite watch of all time is the G-Shock GW6900. I'm wearing it as i write this Magna Carta of RUclips reviews. I was born long before 1995, so my words are weighted and true. Yes, on screen dual time, also i like 3 letters instead of two when displaying what day i am currently experiencing. The auto light (when i flick my wrist... to be cool after dark) I have sported the watch since 2017 and have not always been kind to it. It has been a great watch and it really has some nice battle scars. Again a great video, looking forward to your next one, be safe.
If the alarm function is very important to you, then a 5600 lithium model will work better, as the battery has a slightly stronger "kick" to it, will beep louder and for 20 seconds long, instead of 10 with solar model, which is quieter in comparison. I have solved the conundrum by getting a few of each kind 😅
Well you sold me on the 5610u, ordered when I first saw this video and just received it today in the mail. Absolutely love it, my first G-Shock and it’s so cool! And I got it at a 50€ discount, lovely
My favorite G Shock of all time is the GW9400-1 Rangeman. It has all the functions with a great layout and logical interface. The 6900 (shown in this video) is my 2nd favorite and then the 5610U square. Thanks for the great video. Subbed.
Being a long time survival instructor it's not surprising that G Shock is the outdoor and travel watch for me. Having way to much of them already (all solar) including the GWM5610 and GW6900 still recently bought the GW5610U. After watching videos decided I do not like the color of the new backlight but do like the rest of the extra futures as you mentioned. So I bought it as my last G Shock as I always promise myself or should I say excuse myself. ;) I love the square but having thicker wrists the wristband is a bit on the short side for me. The wristband on the GW6900 might be the same size but having a bigger case still gives me more room on the wrist. So those two are my favorite for sure.
I´ve had my two GW-6900´s for some years now, a black one and a white one. Really like them in all conditions but in the office where theyre a bit bulky for the cuff. I mostly use my black one for the tougher jobs like building on the house or fixing the car.
It's no surprise that I'm a big G-Shock square guy but I do have a 6900 in my collection and love it very much - even more so because it was a gift form a dear friend. Been thinking about adding another one to my collection. Nice to see your G-Shock collection grow!! 🤙
Brilliant, as always. By the way, there is the Casio W-214H, the beautiful little gem. I call it best for me. Because of unique one-button activated countdown timer! Simple, genius and super handy, unlike all the other watches I've tried. Also resembles the 6900 a lot: shape, three eyes, the big center light button, but in a smaller package. No solar battery, radio sync or time zones, but they're not essential for me.
Been down the same rabbit hole as you. Love my 5610, childhood nostalgia, but got a 6900 and love it, same nostalgic vibes. They get a lot of wrist time and far more than more expensive 'nicer' watches. Great video, thanks!
I have had a Casio F-105 for several years now and it has been through a lot. I treat my watches as tools for keeping time, and never baby them. I have realized however that my rough-and-tumble lifestyle has delivered an inordinate amount of abuse to the poor thing. Ive decided to order a 5610 for a slightly more rugged build and retire the 105 for honorary light use. I dont want to destroy the thing after all. Thanks for clarifying the the light difference on the U model. I prefer the old style light!
I've been enjoying the GW-B5600. It's my first G-Shock. I have another radio controlled watch and it's a cool feature but, where I live, I have to place it in a very specific spot in my apartment so it can receive the signal. The B5600 syncs with my phone via Bluetooth so I can sleep with it and it will still receive the signal. And it still has traditional Multi Band 6 as a backup.
I was looking at the GWM5610 earlier in the week but wanted more time zone functionality, so I decided to pass. Then this drops and I’ll be buying a GWM5610u in the very near future. You deserve a commission from Casio.
i hope they changed the buttons a little i sended my 5610 back. You literally have to use finger nails to reach them or roatate your thumb. My rangeman has pretty stiff buttons but at least you can press them.
I agree. I got the powder blue John Mayer, it sat in its box for awhile. I didn’t plan to wear it, just wanted to hold it and eventually sell it. But I found myself drawn to it. Haven’t been able to take it off this month. I love it so much
GWM5610u was my Xmas gift to myself. I love it compared to my Casioak. The time sync allows me to ignore those pesky tiny menus. But also pleasantly surprised by the simplicity of the World Time function and setting my default location. It’s terrific.
I never liked the cluttered dial of a g-shock. I’m glad people like them though. The idea of appreciated a cheap product done well is a really nice sentiment. I only wish there were some time of Bauhaus G-shock 🤔
The GW-6900 looks cool (with the wider strap not the default skinny strap), is lighter than the original and has a useful timezone feature on the main screen but it is really annoying not to have the time displayed in the stopwatch and countdown modes. So if I wasn't going to use any of the functions at all and I'd upgraded the strap I'd wear this over a DW-6900, but overall, no, which is why I sold mine after a few months. Can't argue with the module in the GW-M5610U though, but I'd rather have a GW-S5600U for the same price as both of those watches you have.
I have a Saturday grocery shopping routine (large US city) where all the best stores are in the sketchy parts of town. My go-to Saturday watches are the 5610 and the 6900👍
I got the GW6900 recently, having already bought a newer DW6900 (the lume dial one). Having had the newer one, I never understood why you thought it would be hard to wear on a
Nice video. This year I bought the DW-6900NASA237. I really like it. But, just as you, I discovered the GW-6900. And this video improves the chances I'll be getting it.
This watch hasnt left my wrist since i got it a few years ago. The best is when the first layer of rubber wears off and the black layer starts showing . Once you go multi band 6 solar you dont want anything less.
It’s the best world time/radio watch besides the 5610U (I also love it but gave it to the wife as I have 8.75” gorilla wrists. I think the GD350 in grey is actually the best G Shock and to me fills and updates the tacticool gap left by the 6600.
Great work, great video and great personality! I have both as well and love them both. The 5610U just showed up the other day, so that is the one I am crushing on ATM. But, the 6900 is great too, even tho I have tiny wrists, LOL.
I have a few gshocks but in my opinion the best is the cheapest battery square which can be had for around $40. Takes a beating and not much invested if broken. Easy to change the battery when necessary and no worries about satellites and Bluetooth connectivity. Looks the same as the expensive squares without the extra cost
I'm disappointed in the screen quality, buttons and alarm volume on the gwm5610u and gw6900. My favorite G is the gd350-8. Thought it was ugly and too big before trying it on. But it has incredibly rugged good looks in person. Not too big on my seven inch wrist. Very comfortable despite the size. Beautiful screen, super bright backlight, easy to use buttons, great countdown timer, useful vibration alarm. If you can handle the size and don't mind changing a battery once every few years, it's worth checking out in person But my favorite Casio is the AE-1200 Casio Royale
@@yogiyoda OK, hard to believe. I have the 5610u since a few days and like the crisp display. The only thing I must say, the watch could be 50 % bigger. My old eyes have problems to read. I will have a look at the 350
I have a couple of g shock squares. I love their look and functionality, but there is a downside for me. The side buttons are just too small, requiring them to be operated by a fingernail rather than a thumb or forefinger. This operation can be finicky and sometimes an annoying hit-or-miss affair.
Cool watches, I have them both. I also recommend, in a weird, nerdy kinda way, the DW350. A bit bigger, like the GW6900, but very wearable and odd looking. Wasn't convinced initially but it's ugly-cute, like an English Bull Terrier (love them too btw). Thanks. 😍
I can recommend the GW-M5600. It has a 1000h stopwatch and current time is shown in several modes. Personally I like it more than the GW-M5610(U). And also available in white...
I remember those g-shocks were the best You could own when I was around 4 grade in school 😂 I remember it was really cool to have metal guard on it … oh hood ol’ times …. I am going to buy one now, thanks for reminding me this 😊
I have the G6900, which is a GW 6900 without the multiband 6, its awesome, love the chunky design and its really that much cheaper. I got mine at $60, cant beat that.
@@williammcmillion1796 Nope, G6900. Its the same with GW 6900, with tough solar, just without the multiband 6. I have my DW6900 too, but I love the G6900's module much better.
I like to watch your video with your content delivery and the visuals. Congratulations to your new best/better G-Shock! Unsure why (maybe some past trauma) I hate, yes hate this G-Shock with all those ‘eyes’. 😂 I only have round G-Shock no square type. I can’t get passed myself for just paying a bit more to get all-juices-up-functions G-Shock. I expect them to be big and loud on my wrist. My favourite are Rangeman (GW-9400) for the price/functions/easy access buttons; Casio Gulfman (non-solar) because it’s small, quite slim and fully titanium body, screws (has been eyeing the solar version).
Thank you for not capitulating to the Euros, we havnt acquiesced to the simplicity of the metric system and we don’t intend to reverse ourselves on dates! God Bless America

Well, you should forget meeting the Invicta hell guy and just take a look at the the Invicta 1953. I love it. amongst a stable of Rolex's, JLC's and GO's as well as my fair share of G shocks this mechanical is just a lovely homage to the first Rolex. Mine is so damn accurate and this is refreshing from the venerable nh35
I have small wrist. I love my gw5610. It’s a perfect fit. I recently purchased the gw6900 awesome watch I replaced the straps with dw5600 straps now the gw6900 hugs my wrist just like gw5610. The lug to lug under 49mm
I was born/raised in Pennsylvania, went to Catholic grade school. We were taught to write day month year. Why you ask? Because if someone asks you the date, you say it is the 21st. The 21st of what? the 21st of January (hopefully they know the year). But anywhosis... An Amish friend wants to know if this would stand up to dairying/sawmill work for his friend?
I had the 6900 and replaced it with the 5610U. The one thing I miss is the front button for the light that the 6900 has, so much easier to turn it on at night to check the time if I happen to wake up. I'm struggling to do the same with the 5610U, the button for the light is on the side and much harder to press
5610u activates light on a flick of the wrist. Hold light button until LT is showing in display. Only activates with flick of wrist when you are in the dark. love mine.
Thanks for the mention and very kind words!! 😁👍

I thought the same way until I bought the GW 5000u. That is the best g shock :)
It’s the best world time/radio watch besides the 5610U (I also love it but gave it to the wife as I have 8.75” gorilla wrists. I think the GD350 in grey is actually the best G Shock and to me fills and updates the tacticool gap left by the 6600.
I've been trying to decide which of these two to pull the trigger on, and now I think I've come to a decision. Thanks for the comparison.
Which you choose?
@@Luebke2773 I went with the GW6900 and I'm very satisfied.
Great work, great video and great personality! I have both as well and love them both. The 5610U just showed up the other day, so that is the one I am crushing on ATM. But, the 6900 is great too, even tho I have tiny wrists, LOL.
Thank you for being honest
For me is an excellent way to describe a watch or anything for an individual
Your video on the GWM5610 made me buy it, now I swear this video will make me buy the GW6900 too😅
For old farts like me that triple porthole display is pure nostalgia... That was so cutting-edge, baby!
I'm very partial to the 9400 Rangeman. It was my first ever G-Shock and in my opinion the best looking watch in the lineup.
If you can handle the size and don't mind changing a battery once every few years, it's worth checking out in person
But my favorite Casio is the AE-1200 Casio Royale
What's your problem with the screen quality?
@@Luebke2773 - much hard to read than my gd350 or my Garmin Instinct or even my ae-1200. I found a gwm-5610u on sale for $72 and ended up returning it
@@yogiyoda Ah, you talk about negative display?
@@Luebke2773 - no, had a positive display. It's just not as good as the other models I mentioned
@@yogiyoda OK, hard to believe. I have the 5610u since a few days and like the crisp display. The only thing I must say, the watch could be 50 % bigger. My old eyes have problems to read. I will have a look at the 350
I’ve got an Apple Watch 7, an Iron Man, a Seiko automatic, and a few more. Everyday I wear the 5610.
I have a couple of g shock squares. I love their look and functionality, but there is a downside for me. The side buttons are just too small, requiring them to be operated by a fingernail rather than a thumb or forefinger. This operation can be finicky and sometimes an annoying hit-or-miss affair.
Please try the w800h , not so good as a gshock , but perfect side buttons 😊 .
Love the dry sense of humor. Also love the 6900
Is it me or is the display worse on i.e. less sharp on the GWM5610u?
No, it’s better
I have two watches:
A Rolex 116600 Sea-Dweller
And a Casio G-Shock GMW-B5000TFC
They're both absolutely amazing.
5610 for me, but a G-Shock is a G-Shock. They’re all great watches regardless the model of choice.
Your video’s keep getting better and better. Keep it up!!
U mean the dw6900?
@@williammcmillion1796 Nope, G6900. Its the same with GW 6900, with tough solar, just without the multiband 6. I have my DW6900 too, but I love the G6900's module much better.
I like to watch your video with your content delivery and the visuals.
Congratulations to your new best/better G-Shock!
Unsure why (maybe some past trauma) I hate, yes hate this G-Shock with all those ‘eyes’. 😂
I only have round G-Shock no square type.
Currently wearing my 5610 and recently managed to bag the 6900 PT1 but… the classic 6900 in your vid is something else… yeah, will be bagging one very soon!
Second the 5000U. Also into the DW290-1V these days.
Like that design.
Keep telling it like it is. You’re terrific
Now this is a good video. Funny, non pretentious, and useful.
Great video, I love the info and the sarcastic humour made me laugh out loud, brilliant 😂😂
I have small wrist. I love my gw5610. It’s a perfect fit. I recently purchased the gw6900 awesome watch I replaced the straps with dw5600 straps now the gw6900 hugs my wrist just like gw5610. The lug to lug under 49mm
6900 is my first gshock but now I'm very fond of the gwm5610u
Thanks for alerting me to the P on my watch!
dude your scripts are so good. And memes are on point too XD
Best video from the best RUclips channel!
...for my mother.
Only activates with flick of wrist when you are in the dark. love mine.
that's a cool feature I never thought of using before, I've just tried it and it works fine, thank you!
Your welcome. The light on duration can also be set 1-3 seconds in settings.loads of YT vids on how to set up.
