  • Finally a catch clean and cook for your guys! Brook and I took a trip up north to surf fish for pompano and it payed off big time! Pompano are one of Floridas most valuable, best eating and expensive fish species. We caught our limit from the beach and had a great time surf fishing.I also explain how to catch pompano and how to make a pompano rig in this video as well. Pompano are delicious and I highly recommend grilling them if you are looking for a pompano recipe! Hope you guys enjoy!

      I just bought a couple pounds for cheap from my local restaurant supply.

    • @MrZerakian
      @MrZerakian 2 года назад +1

      @@morehn Honestly I like stuffing them with crab and throwing them on the grill the most. I have broiled them as well and they turned out great.
      I am not a good cook at all so I keep stuff simple because I am fearful of ruining the food, honestly.
      The best I have had I brought home from Florida and cooked over a bonfire just like you would a trout.

    • @morehn
      @morehn 2 года назад

      @@MrZerakian I'm probably going to try frying them this time cuz I'm frying other stuff already, but I'll grill them or something next time. I don't eat shellfish, so that won't be an option for me, but I've seen they're best grilled or some type of dry cooked method.

    • @morehn
      @morehn 2 года назад

      @@MrZerakian i just fried my pompano. Wow, i think it's the most delicious fish i've ever had.

    Try cooking your pompano in parchment paper. Simply gut them and score the sides a little. Then season them up and bake them in the parchment paper. (Pick and eat'em off the bone) The old timers use to cook them in brown paper bags and got the same results. Classic old Florida style served with ice cold white wine or champagne and you'll be fine. BOL to you and Brook !!!

      Michael, Thanks for the kind words. It took me a long time to commit to a knife company and I'm happy with dexter. They are still USA Made and are affordable which I like. Most people need to invest in sharpening stones instead of all these new knives that are razor sharp out of the package, but don't hold an edge.

    Amazing Video again!! Pompano are our favorite fish. We like to cook them on the stove in a hot pan with the skin side down until it's halfway done and them put the whole pan in the oven on broil until they're just done. Even a little under done keeps the fish super moist. Serve it skin side up and enjoy the crispy skin! Delicious. I don't like to score the skin so to prevent it from curling when it first hits the hot oil in the pan, I place a small plate on top of it to keep it pressed against the pan and get a great sear. You only need it there for a minute to allow the skin to adjust to the temperature.

    Hey Vik, love your content and I’m glad your posting. I’m heading on two trips to Jamaica and Fort Lauderdale and I was wondering if you have any tips or baits/lures that you would recommend for either. I’m not specifically targeting a species but I’m hoping to catch some game fish. I will be fishing from the beach and some smaller piers. Thanks!

    Thats a waste. I would just remove gut and gill. Marinate with spices and herbs and bake.

      There is a lot of meat in the part he cut out. They don't need any seasoning. Just one slice on the belly to remove the guts, snip off the fins to avoid scorching them and then bake them.

    Great video…We’ve been blessed limiting out on Pompano in the early morning this week fishing a few hundred yards south of the public access walk at Calumet Ave in front of the old Lighthouse Village apartments in Ponce Inlet. A lot of bait in the troughs recently appearing there. So far it’s been hot every day which is very unusual for July.

    I like to grill them whole. Some say more flavor from the bones and head. Have you tried that?
