Well I was impressed as heck with the Elegoo Mars 2 Pro and the Mercury Plus Washing and Curing station! Did you have a similar experience like I did? Please tell me more in the comments down below! Stay safe and lots of love to you all! 👍💙💛💙
Same! I’ve had my Mars 2 pro for a few months and have yet to have a failure that wasn’t me missing some supports. Over 100 minis printed so far!
That is awesome! I just had one failure and it seemed to be the USB memory stick! 🤣
About time Elegoo found you Leif!
Cheers man! 👍😊
I’ve have done some research on printers the last couple of weeks and finally pulled the trigger on this combination today! So here I sit watching video after video only getting more excited to receive these and have some fun with them! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Great to hear The Hiking Reader! Have fun! 👍😁
I've been considering delving into 3D resin printing but had some of the same concerns as you. This video helped alleviate some apprehension and convinced me that it's time to take the plunge! Thanks, Leif!
That makes me happy to hear Baron-X! 👍😀
Your video was what was missing for me to acquire mine, thank you very much super detailed review!
My pleasure! I hope it works well for you! 👍
Great video as usual Leif - I have just ordered a Mars 3 Pro with the wash & cure station so was doing my due diligence and researching about it when your video popped up!! I was so chuffed to see one of my favourite content creators have a video on exactly what i was looking for!
Thank you so much! This one is a bit old and to be honest, I had some issues with the Mars2Pro shortly after this! I hope you have better luck Logcabingaming! 👍😅
Great video! Wash and cure machines are a game changer. I've been printing non-stop ever since I got mine.
Yeah for sure, it just makes things so bloody easy and neat! 👍😃
great video and honest review, I was on the fence on the Elegoo, but I am going to buy it for sure now
Thank you Tony K! I feel like they have worked well for me! It takes some practice for sure but so it does with all 3d printers! 👍😀
This was so useful in deciding the Elegoo is the machine best suited to my needs, thank you
That's awesome to hear Stabilofarmer ! 👍😀
Great video Leif. Looks like you are going to have a ton of fun with it. I really can't wait to try one myself now, and I look forward to seeing how you use it in what are already amazing builds mate. Cheers.
Thanks Shawn! Yeah we shall see what I do with it! Only time will tell! 👍🤣
I don’t have a 3D printer (it’s not a tool I need right now), but watching this was really interesting, and I can’t wait to see how you work it into your arsenal of other tools and methods! Your ‘manner’ in front of the camera is always so engaging too :). Glad it worked out for you, and I’m looking forward to what you have to share next!
Thank you so much Goblin! I really appreciate it a lot! 👍😀
Very nice review Leif! I liked how you went all in like a barbarian beyond just starting with the test model. Kudos to you on doing your own supports too! I have been wanting to get my own 3d printer for some time now, but that wash station looks key as well. Nice job!
Hahaha! That is so true Michael! It's funny, I usually seem to play either bards or barbarians in D&D and I guess it's part of my personality! 👍🤣 Thanks for the kind words Michael! 👍💙💛💙
Really appreciate this video Leif! I bought an Anycubic Photon Zero last year and I've been too terrified to touch it yet! But you have inspired me so I think it's about time I got my print on!!
That's great! So happy to help! 😊 Good luck! 👍
I literally looked at this model yesterday and did some research. Thanks for the video!
Awesome! Hope that the video helped! 👍😀
Congrats on joining the 3D printing community! I started out with one of the first Elegoo Mars units a couple years ago, and now Im using an Anycubic Mono X. Im now drowning in miniatures and still make more faster than I can paint lol. Issues I had were mainly getting prints to stick on the build plate instead of the vat. I then found that my build plate wasnt exactly level. Between some ptfe lube and a wham bam magnetic flexible plate, I havent had any issues since.
Thank you Charles! Yeah I have had one issue so far but it seemed to have been a misread in the memory stick! 👍🤣
Congratulation to yours first 10k
Many many thanks Tom! 👍💙💛💙
Thanks very much for this video! I have yet to delve into 3-D printing but feel like it is just a matter of time before I do. This kind of familiarization video is very helpful!
That's good to hear Andrew! It really does feel like an awesome tool for anyone interested in miniature painting or crafting terrain! 👍😊
Dear Diary, today I begann my day with watching a 13+min add on RUclips, but since Leif did it with his charming personality i felt entertained. ;)
Hahahahaha! Yeah I suppose it came across like that but honestly, I am so impressed with everything. It was sooo much easier than I had pictured in my mind! 👍😃
Oh wow… I wish I had more space now! The envy is strong
Thank you kindly! Yeah man, space is always an issue! 👍🤣
What a coincidence! I literally ordered my elegoo mars pro yesterday…. Also congratulations on 10k Leif, you deserve it more than anyone !
Oh no way!? That is so funny! Yeah you are going to be happy Matt! Thank you very much! 👍😊
After your review I’m sure my investment will be worth it. For the time being I’ll manually clean the prints with alcohol, but if I find it too tedious I might pick up that curing/ cleaning machine…. It looked like a fantastic product!
It is amazing! Makes it so much neater and easier to clean! 👍
Cheers for this big fella.. I don’t own a 3D printer but purchase 3D printed miniatures off Etsy on a weekly basis.. and I love them, depending on printers/shops on Etsy is were I have found quality can vary but I have only had a few crapy prints the majority are splendid. As always thanks for the content my man keep it up
No worries! Yeah I am holding off to jump on too many miniature stores yet but I expect that I will be having x amount of patrons for 3d minis soon! 👍🤣
I ended up getting a PLA printer, just from reading up on all the mess with resin printers, but a resin will be on the list once the workshop is complete (and I figure out how to not mess up my print jobs on the PLA). Great review Leif!
Hahaha! That's good to hear! I really recommend the Mercury Wash station as well! It makes thing so much easier to clean! Well and cure! 👍🤣
I am super happy that they sent you a printer and now maybe you will be able to find some close proxies for Mordheim minis you have been looking for and get some games in! Can’t wait to see how you work this one into the rotation sir!
Cheers Blake and yeah that is for sure on part of the plan! 👍😁
I hope we get a video of painting up those Barbarian minis next. They look great.
Haha! Yeah we shall see! 😉👍
This makes me really consider getting into 3D printing.
That's awesome to hear Sean! I am liking it very much so far! 👍😊
My experience has been similar to yours. There is definitely a learning curve but for the most part I just throw a file on and hit print. With so many quality pre-supported files out there it's hard to go wrong. I do have occasional failures or issues but most of the time I'm glad I got a resin printer. Now I just need to paint some of what I print!
I agree Lonnie! There is always the occasional issue but in general wow! What a game changer I say!
im waiting on my elegoo mars 2 pro, should be delivered on friday so i have the whole weekend getting started for my first mini's :-)
Nice! Have fun and be safe! 👍😃
Dude, I literally talked about buying a 3D-printer with a friend yesterday...! Perfect timing. Keep it coming! 👊🏻
Oh, and will you paint them and show us?
Oh really! That's so funny! Well I will paint one of them for sure! I think I will potentially make some sort of a diorama! 👍😊
@@DevsDice 🤘🏻
I don't have one.
My local hobby store has one.
I had some prints made up for my Space Marines. They didn't have the Smooth Details your prints had.
I heard, and now i see how smooth Resign is
🤙🏾🤙🏾
So 3d printing really is a hobby of its own! I am no expert but I have seen experts and their prints look amazing! 👍😊
Welcome to the world of 3d printing, I would recommend picking up a silicone mat for your workstation that's been a huge help for me.
Already done! It was the mat I had underneath when I removed the prints from the build plate! 👍🤣 Thanks Dave! 👍
Dang, not having to deal with flash or mold lines alone makes something like this worth it. Pretty impressive.
Right!? Of course there are other issues but we will cross that bridge when we get there! 👍🤣
I will have it brand new tomorrow.. I’m practicing with CAD and slicers!! Nice video btw, same setup inbound, but matt grey resin bottles!!
Nice Dianos! Have fun! 👍😊
@@DevsDice I'm kitbashing my first dungeon and printing miniatures, i'm having a lot of fun (and meltdowns in 3d Builder :P)
I have both a Anycubic Photon Mono SE resin printer, an Anycubic Wash and Cure station and Ender 5 Pro filament printer. The resin printer is for minis and the filament printer is for terrain. My first print on both of the printers was a test print provided by those companies. The test prints came out fine. I've been printing both minis and terrain and sometimes I get a failure and sometimes I don't. Even when using the exact same settings on the exact same files. Not sure why they fail, they just do sometimes. Though, even my failures so far have been usable, as most of what I've been printing is sci-fi type robot and armor minis, so for the robots, I'm just using them as junked robots and the armor is just missing some parts.
Also, I remove the supports after washing the minis and before I cure them. I've found that removing the supports after curing quite often causes smaller pieces of the mini to break off as I clean up the supports.
Nice! So somewhat comparable to my first experience then! Thanks for that tip John! I will try it on the next print! 👍😊
I have an Anycubic Photon S, and it took some time to get my settings right - by now, I simply just run the machine almost 24/7.
Patreon is your friend here - especially if you find supports to be difficult, then you can simply subscribe to stuff such as Artisan Guild, and get amazing pre-supported figures. That's what I do 99% of the time, and I get flawless prints all the time. :)
That's a good tip! Thank you Niels! 👍
Leif that was an awesome review.
Would you choose this one or is there something better?
I've spent the past week making polyurethane terrain castings, demould time 20 minutes.
I'm thinking that to print terrain then taking a mould. I don't have much patience 😂 thanks for the review Leif
Thanks Jamie! I am sure there are better printers out there. I didn't choose this per se but more Elegoo sent them to me. Printing a master copy and them molding and casting sounds like a logical process for sure! 👍😊
I love my original Elegoo mars so much that I recently upgraded to a Saturn, cleaning the minis safely is the worst part as I have a complex set of jugs and an ultrasonic cleaner but it is not optimal for the size of the prints coming off the Saturn. I really need to get one of the larger wash and cure stations!
Yeah I think there is a clean station for the larger Elegoo printers as well? I really, really recommend getting one because they just make it so much easier. 👍
Question about the wash and cure station do we leave the brown top on the curing dish as I've watched other videos and this curing dish is clear all the way through so I'm really confused who's wrong and wether we need to remove this or not.
Remove it! I have since making the video! 😂👍
@@DevsDice Yeah I decided to do that lol I was in 2 minds at first 😅
Do you use the elegoo mars 2 inside? If so, how is it regarding odor? I have been filament printing for years, and really want to move to resin, but I don't want to have to do it in my garage.
Hi Charles! I do, in a separate small storage room. The odor is potent, especially when using Elegoo's grey resin. The transparent green I got smelled very little in comparison. 👍😅
A very interesting review. The quality seems extraordinary to me.
One question, where can I find the models of the barbarians? Are they from a Patreon?
Thank you! I found them on cult 3d I think. It's called Brogan the barbarian or something like that! 😂👍
Has anyone made a good video on how to clean the washing tank? Mine ended up with a lot of resin build up. I got out as much as I could, but the wheel struggles to spin.
Not sure, I haven't had that problem yet it seems. I empty mine every once and a while into another container and let the IPA rest. Need to look this up! 👍😂
@@DevsDice
I do the same, but it still builds up in the cleaning container.
Yep resin scares the crap out of me to as its toxic but I decided to get a mars 2 pro for minis and got the mercury v2 coming tomorrow. Been using an ender 3 and ender 2 pro for a bit but took the step ;-)
I have decided to call my Mars 2 Pro "Brittney" as she has a song Toxic ;-)
Hahahaha! Yeah one needs to respect the resin Optikification! 👍😊
Hey Leif, great video! Do you have any idea of a rough cost per miniature using this method?
Thank you Aecascais! So what I have heard, one 28mm miniature would cost something like 50 cent or something like that in resin costs! 👍😀
@@DevsDice thats not bad at all :) thanks for the answer!
Awesome! 👍😀
What primer did you use on those barbarians, it looks very good.
I used Vallejo though the airbrush! 👍😀
So I have 3 printers atm. First I bought a 3d40 years ago. Them an MP mini V3 and an MP Mini Delta. Traded the Delta off for parts on the 3D40. Then I bought a Mars, the easiest printer I own. No wash and cure station for me, but they didn't exist yet. The Mars is just incredible easy compared to the FDM printers.
Oh really!? Then I got lucky as hell! I assumed so to be honest because usually you hear a lot of problems with different kind of printers and while my print wasn't flawless I felt like it was a good first one! 👍😊
@@DevsDice Nah it's pretty user friendly. Not to say there isn't some luck involved. 😉
Hahaha for sure! 👍🤣
wish I could get a Mars and Cleaning station
Well heck! I see that you have a channel as well! Contact Elegoo and ask if they would be interested in sending you one? 🤔👍
Don't have one yet. Still shopping. I'd like to get into it, but I'm limited in space and don't really have a dedicated spot that a 4yr old can't get too. So for now I'm in a holding pattern.
That seems like a wise decision Jason! Family first! 👍😃
@@DevsDice but I will say this the minis you printed and primed look very nice. Those Rook pieces could be used as a puzzle trap or some such. Keep up the Awesome work Leif.
Will do! Thank you so much Jason! 👍😀
Hi Leif! 😁 You are on to a great start in 3D printing. I been doing it for the past year and a half, and can relate to your first printing experience greatly. 😁 If you want any tips and tricks or have questions - please feel free to contact me and I will love to help. I also know some great Patreon’s for minis for tabletop. 😁
Thank you so much Rosengraveyard! I will ping you in the discord! 👍😁
@@DevsDice Feel free to do that! 😁 But about Discord - where do I get my invite? Can’t seem to find it on Patreon? 😮
@@DevsDice forget it. 😂 just found it. Haha
Its does not per say Scare me, But The PRICE does. What would be the best one for the FIRST TIME guy???? I want to get into this building a bit Deeper!! And I would like to know where to start! Cheap but a good one that would work for small stuff. Any Ideas, also I would as well, like to one day make a video of my builds. Where do I START!! Any help I would appreciate! LOVE YA MAN, YURTO FUN TO WATCH!!!!
Oh wow Tom! There are so many questions here that almost deserve an entire video to answer! Are you referring to miniature printing or terrainmaking or minipainting? Or all!? 👍🤣
Lucky!!! You never know until you ask! Those things are super expensive where I live, yes its close to the price of a console, but damn still for me buying one is big deal! Same with the printer~ Treat it like gold and give it a kiss from me XD
Yeah I know! I was amazed at first and had to like double check so that I didn't misunderstand anything. 🤣👍
@@DevsDice Super lucky XD the entry level resin printer here is 5k, but I'm hearing some good things from elegoo so might go that root
Oh wow! That is a lot of money! 🤔
@@DevsDice to be honest gor us yes its a lot, but for Americans or Europeans its cump change almost XD In Euros its just €286 and $338 not a lot but for us 5k in Rands its pricey and something not every one can just drop XD is why I said give it a kiss for me XD
OMFG! I feel lucky as hell in this case! 💙💛💙
did the resin come with the printer?
As a standard? No I do not believe it does! 👍🤔
Leif you missed the most vital information in this review, well at least for me :) Did your small room have ventilation? How was the smell and did it spread from the small room you were in? Did your wife have any complaints about the smell? Do you feel comfortable using this at home having your kid around? Oh and by the way, I miss your old videos of gameplay, have you taken them down?
That is right Joacim! Damn! Well my room is about 1x1,2m large, so it's more of a storage. It has the normal ventilation we have here in Sweden but nothing fancy. There is a smell in the room when the printer is running, but it can't be smelled from the outside. I was worried using this with my kid around and also because my wife is quite sensitive to chemical smells - but thankfully none of these seem to be an issue! 👍 Regarding the actual play videos, yeah I decided to focus the channel on miniature painting and terrain crafting. I do plan to start another channel and upload all of the old episodes there! 👍😊
Didn't hook it up to a vent?
I would have if I had possibility to but I don't! 👍😅
I got Elegoo Mars 2 (not pro) and the washer, nice machines, impressive quality, I'm in love with this machine, needs some practice, but pretty easy to use.
Just remember to use gloves and mask 😃
Ah nice! Sounds like you had a similar experience to me! Yes mask, gloves and glasses is good to have just in case! 👍😊
I have an Ender 2 and have yet to have a successful print. I know it is user error. I probably didn't get something right when putting the kit together.
I do not have any experience with FDM printers but from what I have heard they tend to demand a bit more technical knowledge from the user? Hope you get it working Bryan! 👍😃
@@DevsDice Thanks Leif!
@@DevsDice I am going to try to take my Ender 3 apart and put it back together correctly over the Christmas holidays.
Hey! Where i can find those chess pieces?
That chess piece came in the USB memory with the printer. It's Elegoo's test print! 👍😉
@@DevsDice Sad, then there isn't a full chess set on that style :/
Leif that was fun, good job. Every time I think I've finally spent enough on this dumb hobby, somebody shows me something amazing and I'm like, ugh, okay fine. I'll go ask my wife.
Hahahaha! I am so sorry Chris! Hoping for the best! 🤣👍
I am not having the same luck as the rest of you on this challenge. I did everything the tutorials say to set it up and the test print pulls itself apart. No phone number to call and takes days to get a response by email. I'm new to 3D printing and finding it a real challenge just to get started with this company. I don't think it's the machine but tech support would be nice.
That sucks Aaron! So my first go to would have been to google that to see if someone else has a similar issue as you. Are you saying that the chess piece just tears itself apart and that half ends up in the vat?
@@DevsDice I found out the problem. I was using a translucent resin and I wasn't giving it enough exposure time on the base.
I greet our Hobby Imperator 🙌😂
Wow really nice Thing 😝👍
Before I get a 3D Printer i need a Money Printer 😂🤣 just jokin' 😉
Really cool Video
May the Force be with you 🖖😂
See ya...🤘😂👍
Hahaha! Yeah if you ever find a money printer then share the plans with me will you? 👍🤣
@@DevsDice of cause 😂🤣👍
I had another printer and I grew to dislike it. Sounds like this model gets around the things I disliked.
Hey Franky! What kind of issues did you have with the printer? 👍🤔
@@DevsDice most prints would fail
Well man, that seems to be the case often when learning the ins and outs of the printer. Don't give up Franky! 💙💛💙
FYI man, take off your supports before you cure. Your model comes out WAY nicer and you have less clean up.
Excellent advice! I will try that for the next one! 👍😊
btw the mask you get is not sufficient you need a proper half face mask or a very well ventilated room.
Yeah I know, I do have a separate mask which does but better than nothing I guess Optikification? 👍😅
Excellent video. Have been pondering getting a 3d printer for ages, still holding off as the worry of drowning in unpainted miniatures is real 😅
I think the reason the supported barbarian failed is because real barbarians don't need no stinking support 🙂
Hahahaha! That is so true! Barbarians are tough S.O.B.S. 👍🤣 Yeah I think the main thing for me is not to print more miniature but perhaps more curate WHAT I decide to print? If that makes any sense? 🤔
@@DevsDice Makes sense, but I don't have that kind of impulse control :D Looking forward to see what you can come up with with your new tools though :)
