- Out of the many film simulations fujifilm offers, I've narrowed down my usage to just a few. Today, I'd like to share with you all the ones I use the most (and in each scenario I'd use them). Hopefully this can give a better understanding on the qualities of each film simulation and why I like them. If you are starting to shoot fujifilm, I'd greatly recommend experimenting with each of these! Thanks for watching!

Done Well. This advice clarified many of the film simulation recipes. I agree 100% and will be resetting my recipes now that I have a better understanding.
glad it helped!
Thx for the video. Your explanation of how the simulations will affect a particular photo was super helpful.
I love that you shared your observations and what you like about each simulation. Super helpful, thank you! 🙌🏾🙏🏾
glad it helped!
Hey! great Video! Do you Guys use classic Chrome with standard settings for WB - Highlights - Shadows - Colour Chrome Effect? Or do you change something there?
Awesome information! Thank you!
Great video, I like the look of the Astia simulation, Will give that one a try next.
Awesome bud love this !
for those who want to try astia, astia is good for artistic portraits but not for commercial portraits as it is very soft.
Thanks Andre, very useful explanation.
Great video!
thanks for this! am just starting with my x-t4 :)
Thank you!
Anytime I’m shooting just JPEG, I’m almost always in Classic Chrome, or occasionally a “Leica-Like” recipe. Classic Chrome almost always looks amazing, and edits great for being JPEG! 📷
hey there. Could you please provide more info about the "Leica-Like" recipe?
@@ryansnz there’s no such thing, that’s why he didn’t answer.
I didn’t realize Leica made film stock… 😂 oh yeah, that’s cause they don’t.
Maybe they meant a Leica monochrome look, their monochromatic cameras did have a very unique look.
A specific and detailed video. Love it!
thanks a lot!
Shout out to the smaller creators with great content
Great video! What S/W do you use to edit your images and maintain native Fuji film simulation colour?
Thank you very useful explanation. May I know the name of the program that appeared in the video?
Hi, can we use these custom recipes for movie mode?
Quick question - on your poster frame what did you use for the middle shot with the man with his back turned looking over the lake?
Fuji film simulations only work with JPEG? Isn’t there a way to get them on an editor? (Lr, DXO, etc)
Andre, what is the software that you are using to edit in this video?
Incredible videos always, thank you for contributing so much. Question: By any chance do you know how to preview on camera how the film simulations will look before shooting? Is there a way to cycle through all film simulations we have set under CUSTOM before actually clicking to capture the image? Thank you
thank you! and yes, i forget if its a custom function, but i have mine set to swipe left on my x100v and xt4. this brings up the custom profiles i have set and i can scroll through them quickly to see what each looks like. I believe there's also a custom swipe for the standard film sims as well :)
@@andrepel thank you! I have all my film sims set and I can easily choose one of them on my Q menu , but my problem is - I can’t see what it will actually look like on my viewfinder until I actually take the picture and go back to PLAY in order to see it! Do you have a tutorial on how to see the Film Sims in real time before clicking the shutter ? I can’t figure it out how to set that up! Thank you
@@oswaldoginoabreu8904 I may be mistaken but I thought the live view through evf was with the filter? I guess you could hold the camera up to your head with live view then take a pic and hit the playback button to see it
Hey im planning on getting the xt5. For film and other simulations. Any good??
🎉thank you what camera you use for this? And lens
How can add the classic chrome presets in iphone
Hello, could you give me the settings please, because I erased all the original settings and I can no longer find the original Classic Chrome recipe!
Thank you in advance, have a nice day
Such a great video! What font are you using? :)
font is ivymode :)
great video and recommendations, thank you! what app is this that you aree using there to edit your images?
Would also like to know, please!
usually on the computer i use capture one and sometimes lightroom. but on the ipad i'm using lightroom mobile until some better mobile software comes out
Would be great not just to know not just the film simulations, but all other settings you use the most (highlight, shadows, wb shift, clarity…) :)
i personally dont use any haha! in another video i talk about my b&w settings but ever since i started shooting raw only, the in camera adjustments dont really do much 🙂
@@andrepel :) Understood! Thank you so much!
Great video! how did you add the film simulations into Lightroom?
If you import a Fuji raw file into LR the simulations should appear under your presets. Keep in mind though that these are not the actual Fuji sims but approximations interpreted by light room so they will be different. To get the actual sims on your Raw files you either can do that in camera with the q button in the playback menu or on a pc with the Fuji x-raw converter and your camera connected to the pc. On a jpeg you can’t change the sim it is baked in.
Have you ever used any of the other film simulations you mentioned for video? Did you like it?
What app do you use to edit your images?
do you use all of these film sims as-is, or have you settled on any tweaked settings for them?
most of them are as is in post. the tweaking would be editing in post :)
I can’t stand the yellow greens in Astia, but I need to give it a chance again when there isn’t foliage in the shot.
1:08 which app are you using there?
What film simulation did you use for the intro if you don't mind me asking :)?
sorry, which part of the video? :)
New to the camera. Times stamp 3:22 is this on a computer? You can edit the same simulations after the shot?
i believe this was on my ipad in lightroom mobile. the raws allow you to access film simulations and edit them in post :)
Is there a way to get classic chrome for the xpro1?
i believe there are some recipes for it! never tried them so i cant say much about them :)
what lens do you use more often for your pics? your go to ?
x100v 90% of the time !
What's the ios app you demonstrate in this video? E.g. on 3:29
i believe its lightroom’s mobile app🙂
The film simulations in Lightroom and CaptureOne is not 100 % what you get in camera when you shoot JPG with a film simulation. The film simulations in Lightroom and CaptureOne that are added to the raw-files are their interpretations on the version in the camera software. They're not bad, but if you compare them with an JPG made in camera, the in-camera version is better.
If you compare Lightroom and CaptureOne, I find that the CaptureOne interpretations are slightly better that Lightroom because they look more like the profiles inside the camera.
Agree with that Silvert. If I am changing the as-shot simulation, I plug into Fuji X Raw Studio which uses the camera processor to change the sim. Classic Chrome is also my go to, but have recently been using a Kodachrome 64 recipe which is a slight tweak on CC and looks even better.
great point! i use capture one as my main editing software and lightroom for mobile until c1 finally releases their app. im able to get the look i want with either software so i just use whichever is at hand🙂
Same problem with Canon. The picture profiles and lens corrections are only approximated by these software (sometimes very badly), they're not true to the camera and lenses. So the JPG always ends up looking better. I've actually stopped shooting in RAW because of that, it was too frustrating.
its that the moment strap?
yep!
Good videos bro. Sub 👍🏼 your channel
Tri x and t max simulation are more my style
i'll have to try those :)
