If the armature plate is stuck you will need to open up the front differential and see why it is sticking or check your switches to make sure they are working
The 2008 300 does not have a lot of play, but my 2006 500 does (it has a lot more miles on it). It worried me so I took it to a local ATV fix-it place that does not brand specific. The mechanic there told me it was normal.
Man... you spent a lot of time pulling apart that hub. all you have to do is pull the long bolt that holds the wide end of the A-arm to the frame. Then a little push and pull... axle out in 5 min.
Did you figure out what the clear vent tube goes to? I pulled the same one off the other day while cleaning mine up and can't figure out where it goes. Thanks.
Awesome video! It is very hard to find much on these ATVs. I have a 2007 Hawkeye 300 which is basically the same ATV as yours as far as I understand. My front differential is leaking not sure where yet but last night I was looking it over and noticed i can grab the CV axles and wiggle them up, down, left, or right in the housing. Do you remember if your axles do this on yours? Just trying to figure out if this is normal or not. Thanks!
How many hairs turned gray as you did this? I know your pain , I just put a powersteering kit on my 850... stupid hard. Have to take apart way too much stuff to get at the necessary parts
Well...I just figured if I could not fix it, I would need to replace it. I hate paying other people to do half-ass work on my things...when I can screw it up perfectly well on my own...heh
Thanks for the response. The hose I'm referring to is seen at 5:35 it's not the diff vent hose. Do you remember what it went to? Mine is off completely. Thanks!
Excellent video. Thank you. There is NO information on these things online; it's driving me crazy.
BBB517 glad you found it useful.

Its just hooked to the top of the differential and goes up through the steering column. The top part is not hooked to anything (just an open vent).

Sean Burns I hear ya, I can't afford to pay a garage 75$hr. So you just take it apart one piece at a time I guess.
👍👍👍
Good vid bud,

Ahhhhh....got it now. That was for the battery. I installed an AGM battery (sealed battery) so it was not needed/used on my ATV.
