I've always said that if this song wasn't by MCR (whom I love) then it would be one of the great rock anthems of the world. Like, maybe the song that all rock music would look to as a goal.
Either way, there was never any point in mentioning the G note. I don't even get why fangirls always lose their shit when they hear that note. What makes it so special? Like, c'mon. :D
STVNIX okay so, the first note in the beginning of the song on the piano is a g note, and since they were broken up since 2013 until October of 2019, and this is one of the most beloved songs, it would make them upset because they would think about mcr being broken up.

MCR was and still is one of the best bands of the 2000's, the lyrics of their songs are so powerful and helped a lot of teens with drugs, anxiety and depression problems. They formed in 2001 because of 9/11, the singer Gerard Way was heading to work when he saw the airplanes heading to the tower, he started writing songs and one of them which was the first song ever written by him was "Skylines and Turnstiles" which talks about 9/11 and it's from the first album I Brought You My Bulllets, You Brought Me Your Love. The band has only 5 members, Gerard Way on lead vocals, Frank Iero on lead guitar and some backing vocals, Raymond Toro on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Mikey Way (Gerard's brother) on Bass guitar and Matt Pelissier but then he left and Bob Bryar joined the band. They have only 4 other albums like Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, The Black Parade, Danger Days and Conventional Weapons. All of their albums are amazing and has stories on it but Conventional Weapons and I Brought You My Bulllets You Brought Me Your Love which only talks about anxiety, depression and 9/11. The band broke up on March 22 of 2013 and the members of the band worked on solo projects, Frank has 3 bands Leathermøuth, Death Spells and Frank Iero and The Future Violents, Gerard worked on his comic The Umbrella Academy which has a netflix series and has an album called Hesitant Alien, Mikey worked with his band Electric Century and Ray made a solo album. They came back as a band in 2019 and I love how the band is remembered til this day after 6 years of inactivity. Songs you need to try: Mama, I Never Told You What I Do For A Living, Helena, House Of Wolves, Sleep, Honey This Mirror Isn't Big Enough For The Both Of Us, Skylines and Turnstiles, Vampire Money, Vampires Will Never Hurt You, Boy Division, Hang Em High, The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You and Destroya.
Amazing summary and suggestions!! I also suggest "All the Angels", which is only like a very rough copy because the song was never meant to be released fully (It was going to be on The Black Parade album but they decided against it), and "Heaven Help Us"!
why do you have to be an emo fan to like this song? I'm defenitely not a fan of emos (I do fully respect them and stuff but I can't imagine myself being one) but last night I couldn't sleep cause I was fucking crying all night thinking of this song damn
That and "Helena" These two are the proper introduction. "The Black Parade" is truly incredible/amazing. But their second album("Revenge") kind of has to be heard first. In my opinion.
"This was not a song this was an anthem," Every time my bros went out to drink, they mostly wanted to go singing too. And when they get super drunk, they told me they get to be singing their national anthem. I don't know what song they meant. But around the time I came along, after an hour or two, before calling it a night, they told me it's time for the national anthem. And, what do you know? It was MCR's Welcome To The Black Parade. By the time the piano started playing, everyone in that room gave their versions of approval to the song, even I did too because I love this song. Most of us stood up, and we were raising our hands up and nodding our heads along with the melody. We all get to sing that song together, sharing just one microphone. There were more than five of us. Some were standing in front of the screen, others were at the back but were still excited. And we were jumping and singing our lungs and hearts out, shouting because some of us can't reach that high. Even one of the descent singers with us was having a hard time with the song he was kneeling and crouching lower and lower as the song progressed. By the end of the song, everyone was panting and laughing, some, or all of us, having sore throats. Some of us would often refuse to sing, but every time the 'national anthem' hits, we all just went nuts. Music does bring people together. And to me, Welcome To The Black Parade really is an anthem.

I wouldn't have heard it, if it wasn't for a NHL game opening with this, back in 2013.. all my roommates started singing the intro in unison, and I was like "Is this song old?", they were floored exclaiming 'How could I not?'; but I really only listened to 70s/80s music in the 2000s, so this wasnt even on my radar.
This is what quality music is, the lyrics are so powerful and meaningful, they give you goosebumps without you realizing it. Unlike today's music that goes brrrrrrat tattat truuuuuutatatat whooooo f*ck brrrrat.
It's a concept album, I would highly recommend you listen to the whole album in order the same way Brad Taste in Music did It tells the story of a cancer patient and his journey after death. He goes through bargaining, denial, acceptance, throughout the album.
I started listening to MyChem because my son was a teenager back in the early 2000’s. And OMG I fell in love! Still in love. Honestly, My Chem and Nirvana are my fav’s of all time.

Here are some good MCR suggestions: 1) Mama, cause its basically a masterpiece featuring Liza Minnelli. 2) The Ghost of You, the emotional rollercoaster of a song dealing with the subject of war. 3) Destroya, ...tbh we just want to see your reaction to this 'cursed' but an epic song.
Please do "famous last words" as well Alex! :D Black Parade is such a good album, its a concept album about a dying mans experiences, thoughts and reflections about life, death and the afterlife. so many powerful songs in the album
you should listen to the albums they released before this one. maybe listen to: honey this mirror isn't big enough for the 2 of us, or demolition lovers, or early sunset over Monroeville. anyway welcome to the black parade is a true masterpiece
While they never labeled or liked themselves being called Emo they were often put into that genre. However they are usually found in the alternative rock, post hardcore punk and hard rock genres... Honestly it doesn't matter what you label them as long as you acknowledge they're fucking awesome.
You don't seem to do album reactions, but The Black Parade is one of the greatest albums from this era. It's a masterpiece about Life and Death, it's heavy but it really rocks. It's something you have to experience by just soaking it all in, listening to it all at once and in order. 10/10
i agree! This is one of my favorite albums and the song order is incredibly well thought out. Each song is amazing on its own, but when heard as an album, it is a whole other experience.
They're not wrong. That single piano note alone lets you know what song you're listening to. Same with the opening of Bohemian Rhapsody. And no one can listen to the song without singing along, whether in their head or out loud.

I'm a simple man - I'm seeing My Chemical Romance in the title, I'm clicking the like button
Facts
What if the title is “my chemical romance is hot dog shit” it’s in the title, soooo?
Thirty Seconds to Mars - Closer to the edge, The Kill, This War, Kings And Queens, Up In the Air, Hurricane
I never thought I’d get the chance to see somebody listen to this for the first time
He looked like he was going to cry at one point
For real. I'm shocked he hasn't heard MCR music yet but I'm so glad we get to share the moment because the entire song I was like "Right?!?!? Right?!?!?!"
@@atomiccrouton I'm shocked you guys really believe these reaction people haven't heard a lot of these songs🤷
@@johnberens2898 if you didn't listen to rock or anything in middle or high school, there's a good chance somebody hasn't heard this song before. Alex was a hip hop fan before his channel so it's not that difficult to believe he hasn't heard it
This guy needs to listen to the whole album, great rock opera
My father joined the black parade shortly after this song came out. Helped me through a tough time.
Please react to their songs: "I'm not ok" And "famous last words"
Or teenagers
yes famous last words!
Those are my favs
hes gonn be a emo after hearing those i bet
Famous last words was an epic song!
The fact you made it to 2020 without hearing this song blows my mind! Hope this song made it onto a playlist!
"My first time hearing Welcome To The Black Parade" oh my Alex, you're in for a ride
Fun Fact: he wrote the Umbrella Academy comics ( or the first ones at least)
He wrote all of them.
And he's also the producer of The Umbrella Academy TV Series
@@partypoison2374 I liked umbrella academy at first but then it got darker I don't like dark things so do I keep watching it or stop just asking for an opinion
He also helmed DC's Young Animal imprint. And Google his sketches and see how good of an artist he is too.
He’s also joe Rogan’s cousin

The song is anti Emo tho.
@@vanthursday no
@vanthursday what...?
"You see these goosebumps?!"
No. Every time.
I actually saw them this time. For the first time though :D
R G ditto! I was like wow I can actually see it!
I kinda did but I damn well felt them but then again I was an alt kid who is now a night shift ems provider so if there is one person to resonate with it all.... yeah.... im trash
Dude literally lives under a rock if this was his first time....
This was me last year and jesus did I regret that!
I have heard this but never pay attention to the lyrics (and the title). I don't regret it because I still have undiscovered gems.
I commented above that I'm 52 and I know who they are.
Omg IKR! I went completely emo and also listening to MCR and Avril did it haha
30 seconds to Mars - "from yesterday" or "the kill"
Thats a fine request tho 😊
Top tier videos
The Kill is such an iconic song
Please “This is War”

MCR - “I don’t Love you” 😭 old memories
AN OLD GREGG REFERENCE, IN A MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE REACTION VID, IN THE YEAR 2020.
You love to see it. 💖
MANGIIIINAAA, lol
Can’t believe you’ve lived your whole life till now without this musical masterpiece
Alex: I DID NOT EXPECT THIS!

I feel like you should do a full album reaction because the whole album is a story. I think you'd really enjoy every song on that album.
Dustin Halter I agree
Full album reaction to "The Black Parade," followed by a reaction to Polyphonic's video about the album
I feel like now that you’ve compared this to the Christian afterlife, you really need to listen to Mama cuz it gives a completely different vibe 🤣
He definitely needs to do mama
Yessss! Mama would give a lot of hardcore Catholics a heart attack lol
Can you please be my defense against the dark arts professor!?
Omg right 🤣
technically hell is still a Christian afterlife.
This is what quality music is, the lyrics are so powerful and meaningful, they give you goosebumps without you realizing it. Unlike today's music that goes brrrrrrat tattat truuuuuutatatat whooooo f*ck brrrrat.
fr
It's a concept album, I would highly recommend you listen to the whole album in order the same way Brad Taste in Music did
It tells the story of a cancer patient and his journey after death. He goes through bargaining, denial, acceptance, throughout the album.
So...you're gonna do their entire discography now, yes?
I'd recommend
- I'm not okay
- sleep
- dead
- cemetery drive
- na na na
- teenagers
AND MAMA
"Disenchanted" also bro
I started listening to MyChem because my son was a teenager back in the early 2000’s. And OMG I fell in love! Still in love. Honestly, My Chem and Nirvana are my fav’s of all time.
are you my parent? my mum and dad fucking love MCR and they got all excited and involved whenever I'd be hyped that a new song was out. They even went to see My Chem live ON THEIR OWN without me lol. I loved that period of my life tbh.
Same! Indeed my son didnt listen to them anymore but it's still my favourite band
@@tomjones688 Such cool parents 🤟🤘
@@tomjones688 you're making me feel old. Stop it
Ditto. Went to see them too. Amazing. I am 65 this year !
YESSSSS! Finally! Go and check out "Desolation Row" and "Mama" by them!
I'd suggest listening to the original Bob Dylan version of Desolation Row before listening to the cover.
Mama is so good
DESOLATION ROW
Here are some good MCR suggestions:
1) Mama, cause its basically a masterpiece featuring Liza Minnelli.
2) The Ghost of You, the emotional rollercoaster of a song dealing with the subject of war.
3) Destroya, ...tbh we just want to see your reaction to this 'cursed' but an epic song.

Just do the entire album The Black Parade its a masterpiece.
In fact yeah, like 12/13 of the songs on it are even better in context of the full album :P
Please please please do this!!!
This song gives me chills every time I hear it. Every time.
Not for me it makes me happyXD
Next song you should check out: The Kill - Thirty Second To Mars
Agreed, Thats such an underrated band.
You SHOULD listen
-Honey this mirror isn't big enough for the two of us.
-Vampires will never hurt you
-to the end
-Hang em high
Am I the only one who expected him to hear the first couple notes and go "oh I know this song!" ?😂
I love how he goes from like kinda sad to concerned to loving it
Please do "famous last words" as well Alex! :D Black Parade is such a good album, its a concept album about a dying mans experiences, thoughts and reflections about life, death and the afterlife. so many powerful songs in the album
Please listen and react to “Helena” and “A Ghost of You” - My Chemical Romance
+1 Helena
was literally about to suggest these exact two songs.
There's a lot of underrated guitar work in MCR. Check out "Dead!"
That’s one of my favorites!
Ray Toro is a fucking amazing guitarist no cap
Oh yeah that rocks🤟
Also “Sleep” incredible riffs in that one
For sure, I love dead!
The emo gods have blessed me today with Brendon Urie reacting to MCR's music.
holy shit hahahahahahahhaaa
BYE😭
Potaena. 🤣
WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG?! NOW LISTEN TO "NA NA NA" "Helena" and if you want something really sad "Cancer"
Corey Taylor & Dave Grohl colab.. "From Can to Can't" Do it, You're missing out man..
YESSS
yes please
Yes!! Such a great song

City Sound City is amazing!!
you should listen to the albums they released before this one. maybe listen to: honey this mirror isn't big enough for the 2 of us, or demolition lovers, or early sunset over Monroeville.
anyway welcome to the black parade is a true masterpiece
Demolition lovers for sure 👍
Early sunsets is still a go-to for me. Pure nostalgia
Just imagine everyone gets to wear an amazing costume and you have to wear a hospital gown lmfao
Now that you're looking into MCR I highly recommend reviewing their songs "Ghost of You" and "Helena"
You should react to Ghost of you or Helena by My Chemical Romance!
He needs to do all of three cheers for sweet revenge.
Damn... My boy was literally crying at some point??? Well, now you're officially an emo head. Welcome to the black parade, dude!
MCR isn’t emo
@@kispie yes it is and this song is the national emo anthem
@@kispie yes it is :P

This and In Love And Death by The Used were my two pivotal albums from my teenage years
MCR: Ghost of you, I don’t love you or cancer. Trust me

Disenchanted. Trust me

Famous Last Words is the sequel my man! Enjoy!
Famous last words is an absolute anthem also imo
Another amazing song!
I once heard someone call this The Emo Bohemian Rhapsody.......
Yes it is
And they were correct.
They're not wrong. That single piano note alone lets you know what song you're listening to. Same with the opening of Bohemian Rhapsody. And no one can listen to the song without singing along, whether in their head or out loud.
I swear I don’t hear an “emo” vibe
MIght you say.. BohEMOan Rhapsody? 😏
No? Okay.
I saw them four times in concert pretty much back to back. This whole album is a gift.
God this whole reaction is a mood if I've ever seen one.
"starved to death in a land of plenty!" such a poignant point
I wondered if he would catch that "statement", but understand him missing it the first time you see it because there is so much going on to take in.
