All due, but talking over the lyrics with MCR can hamper your experience. Cancer is one of the most heartfelt and truthful songs ever written about the experience of having that disease (and I can tell you first hand; i'm a survivor, but that song would have been played at my memorial), and you talked through the entire thing.

Also, idk if you mentioned this but the RUclips video you’re watching also includes the B-Sides of the album (Heaven Help Us, My Way Home Is Through You, Kill All Your Friends) as well as the secret track, Blood. The actual album ends with “Famous Last Words.” So, those B-Sides and Blood aren’t officially on the album (I suppose Blood is, but it was a “hidden track” I believe if you waited 5 or so minutes after Famous Last Words ended on the vinyl + CD)

I grew up in the 80s-90s and am a HUGE Queen fan. I enjoyed a few MCR songs here and there (I was too old for the emo scene) but when this album came out it gave me such huge Queen vibes that I had to sit down and really listen. And I loved it. Saw them on tour for that album and it was really great.

I don't really like the sound of teenagers either, but I love the song anyway, solely because of Gerard writing it while being scared of high schoolers on a train and feeling old. I always imagine him sitting there, writing that fcking song to cope, all stressed out and surrounded by teenagers. It's hilarious, and the song not really making sense for them as a band, and it becoming a troubled emo teen-anthem only makes it even more comical to me.

    • @Joshua_8277
      @Joshua_8277 Месяц назад

I didn’t know the background to that song! Thats funny I always thought it was written ironically as he was maybe a teenager that scared adults-not personality just at first glance. This does make the song so much better hahah! I really do like the song though-always have.

Huge album. One of the most iconic rock albums of the 2000s. Like it or hate it, it was iconic.
Same as how people from the 90s loved or hated Nirvana's Nevermind.
It just takes time for people to get over their biases and what gatekeeper reviewes think.
There are a lot of great albums, but it takes something different to be 'iconic'. There is a reason that albums like The Black Parade or Hybrid Theory are considered as defining for the 00's rock. People tend to hate whats popular, some because they feel its not edgy to like popular stuff, others because they are annoyed that this album is more popular than whatever sub-genre basement band album they feel is better.
But objectively i find it silly to not acknowledge that TBP was a defining album of its time.

Little fun fact about this album: they recorded it in the Paramore mansion, which is known to be haunted. The band went through very many mental health crises during the recording of the album, and that’s what the dialogue about the “night terrors” is about at the beginning of Sleep. Gerard Way would have horrible night terrors in the haunted mansion and it felt like someone was gripping his throat and choking him.

Give any young woman content that's dark, tragic, AND romantic, and we're pretty much sold. The rawness and imperfection of Gerard's voice also really sell it. It's the same reason I like grunge: Authenticity. Uniqueness. Shot through with messages of hope and perseverance.
Also lines like: "A light to burn all the empires / So bright the sun is ashamed to rise and be" have no business going so hard.

I'd wholly disagree. That may have been the meme about it of the time, but this CD was a clean track to track win.
Played this so much back in the day my friend tossed the CD where I promptly grabbed a ripped version on CD-R out of my visor and loaded it back in.
Plus, Welcome to the Black Parade was pretty popular with Famous Last Words.
The emos were more Ateyu/Hawthorne Heights and even then people on our basketball team had stuff on their iPods from all of them. Partially because I'd rip everyone's music and make one giant library for the school. You'd bring me your iPod, I'd rip the music, delete the multiples, and then upload a few thousand songs where there were _maybe_ a couple hundred at best. So maybe that helped break down some barriers.

I'm not the biggest mcr fan but a few of their songs I'm totally obsessed with. Sleep is definitely my favourite, I love the guitars and the screaming section. It isn't just screaming, he's screaming 'wake up' but the rest of the music drowns it out, summing up the whole message of the song. The few others I listen to are Mama, This is How I Disappear, I Don't Love You and Cancer. :)

As a 21 year old who is listening to MCR un-ironically, our opinions are not the same (for example, I love House of Wolves). However, some things I can agree with (like Sharpest Lives being vanilla compared to the rest). I think this is a good critical analysis as a first time watching. Because some people (like me) can’t hear the lyrics even without talking over it.

Genuine suggestion, if that bothers you, try to find reactors who share your priorities. A lot of rap fans are very lyrics-oriented, maybe searching them out will help you find content you enjoy.

Can you pause it when you have something to say? Like i hate hearing talking over a song i like. And you compare the song more than talking about the song itself. And you never talk about the lyrics

Can you just go and listen to the album on a music platform? Why are you listening to songs on a reaction video, where the person is giving his opinion on each song? You 🤡

Dude has the McLovin look without the McLovin vibes. At least he has on a Smashing Pumpkins shirt. MCR have never been & continue to not be "emo". I know, I know the look is there but that was the style of the early '00 era. I have always seen MCR as more punk rock or hard rock than anything else. I met the boys in '04 when working at a concert venue called The Masquerade in Tampa Florida. If I hadn't already been a big fan of 3 Cheers & MCR i would have after meeting Mikey Way first then the rest of the boys. Very sweet, genuine, and just really good dude's. I gave up my bar that night to work on the MCR rider backstage so I got to spend some time with them. Long live My Chemical Romance ♥️

What? MCR is quintessential emo, especially the first two albums.

Part of what made mcr to me was the use of two really great guitarists in frank, and ray… and obviously Gerard’s voice

When I was a pre teen 'Teenagers' was one of my favorite songs, but as an adult if it wasn't for the nostalgia of it I don't know if I could stand it.

Honestly I only got into this band as an adult and I never really saw teenagers as a serious song I always viewed it as the kinda ridiculous but fun song.
Like it wasn’t apart of the main story (or that’s just how it feels)

Teenagers is my least favourite, but I love them. This is not emo, it more alternative rock to me. Hugs from Sweden. Never ever have I watched someone just listening to an album. Cool. I must be drunk.😅

As a fellow swede, I love your username, brought me back 😂
But yeah, teenagers is my least favorite too, like if were going by the sound. I love it anyway though, solely because it's absolutely *hilarious.*
Apparently Gerard wrote it because teenagers *did* scare the shit out of him, which made him feel old-the inspiration was him often riding a train that was usually full of teenagers, and they were running around and "being violent and breaking sht" 😂 I can't listen to it and not imagine him sitting on the train like "these kids really just want to see blood 😨" and "oh, wait, does this mean I'm old now? 😐" **slumps down in his seat and writes a song to cope**

You don't have to apologise for not liking Teenagers. I'm a huge MCR fan and I can't stand that song. It's the only song that I'll ever skip from them. I am surprised you didn't like Sharpest Lives, that song has great progression in my opinion.

You clearly aren't a musician and don't know anything about music theory. He recognizes and comments on things like chord progression and time signature changes, but you probably wouldn't know anything about that.

I grew up in the 90's loving what I consider emo, mcr isn't emo but that's OK, its a silly term anyways, Helena is a good song and their early stuff is harder and more raw, I guess I hated them mostly because other people put them in the same group as other bands I love that are very different
