19:29 Well, if you decide to listen to the record after this one (The End of Heartache) or the one after that one which is argubly their best record (As Daylight Dies), then you'll see the black vocalist, haha. Howard Jones is one of the greatest vocalists of the genre.

The reason why this album in particular sounds the way it does and why it's so familiarized in the metalcore genre is because prior to the band's inception, the members consisted in two particular metalcore bands; Ovecast (the bassist Mike D'Antonio) and Aftershock (lead guitarist Adam D, rhythm guitarist Joel Sttoezel and drummer at the time Tom Gomes). Overcast are one of the earliest metalcore bands of the genre. Killswitch Engage definitely has that Aftershock influence on their first two records due to Adam D (producer of this album and every other one from the band). So put that all into one and you got Killswitch Engage. Now obviously, they pioneered their own song format that other bands have tried duplicating but they just don't do it like them. Not only does this record sound great, but the lyricism off AOJB is just powerful via Jesse Leach. This is the album where it counted since they were first signed to Roadrunner Records. So they got to tour just about everywhere and got airplay.

Nice shtick you got going. If you're seeking some metalcore suggestions, try "The Caitiff Choir" by It Dies Today or "The Curse" by Atreyu or "When Everything Falls" by Haste The Day.

I would say they were black metal adjacent. Much more heavily inspired by Iron Maiden, and a hard lean into horror film soundtracks. They are gothic, symphonic, and draw from many styles of metal. As Dani has said, they are an extreme metal band.

Great album.. a bit heavier and stripped down. Tom was still kindof Tom-ing, so i think alot of the production was done over email and they weren’t all in a studio together most of the time. I recall hearing that in an interview. Maybe why its pretty stripped down… this is the most un-blink blink album. Still great.

Personally to me? It stirred something up in ppl and ppl didn't like that. They say they are not a Christian band, but has many undertones. And Ppl hate Christianity. That is the crux of the problem. Don't even put Creed in the same room as Nickle Back or Pearl Jam. Staph has a very unique voice. The majority of music now today is fake, phony, no real talent

The old LP stuff like this was when they were at their best, they had a lot of different elements that each member brought that just worked well, if anything had been missing it would have been average. Their sound only really changed a little over time as they refined things through their next few albums, then The Hunting Party was a bit heavier but still good, but then One More Light was very Mike lite and they tried experimenting with very different stuff and it just wasn't that good with elements missing. Their latest album From Zero is pretty much comparable to One More Light in that with Chester and Rob gone they're missing those elements and even Mike seems really hit and miss now.

It became almost fashionable to hate on Limp Bizkit. Yet, it is one of the best music bands of late 90's-early 2000's. Most people making "fun" of the band just heard 1-3 the most popular songs that might sound a bit bratsy or rowdy, plus their beef with Eminem made people blindly condem Limp Bizkit. They are very good, *and not only instrumentalists, but Fred also. As a lyricist and as a vocalist. Also, the same could be applied to Nickelback. One of the best and sleeped on bands of that era

im a cradle of filth hater, but this album rips. i like it a lot. if you want a more polished and fun black metal, i'd recommend Immortal. any of their early albums are a perfect mix of refined and raw black metal.
