omg you are like me i was a MASSIVE fan of 2nd gen like t-ara, snsd, girls day etc... but fell out of kpop last couple of years when literally every girl band started to sound like blackpink and the hyper aggressive rap, trap badaboom nonsense put me right off... then 50/50 brought me back a little with their throwback 2nd gen sound then in randomly heard newjeans 'newjeans' and I COULD NOT BELEIVE i was hearing a kpop group doing early 2000s uk garage ala craig david/artful dodger/shanks and bigfoot.. it was SOOO unique and something i hadnt heqrd in kpop before... i then listened to more of their stuff and realised their first ep was 90s rnb which was a sound i hadnt heard in kpop since my time in 2nd gen... and their geup ep was uk garage which was the sound i grew up with in the uk during my late school uni days... they are so refreshing and different.. i love them
15:15 actually their backs track is so low in this concert, the one you said was more backtracked is hyien whose voice is known to be just as good live as in studio, that’s why singer iu was so impressed when she heard her singing, her voice is just magical
Newjeans did so good at this festival!! So proud of them 🐰 You should watch other lollapalooza performances by kpop related acts! There was a soloist that headlined lollapalooza named J-hope. He's in the group BTS. By far my favorite concert EVER from this festival. And doing it SOLO?! And other group also. A boy group, TXT. (pronounced t-x-t or "tomorrow by together "). they were AWESOME too!
Hurt - was a 250 remix.....250 is a well known korean rapper who is doing most of NewJeans remix songs....even till today NewJeans latest song - How Sweet is produced by 250😊
you pointed out the jazzy electronic sound of 'cool with you' being their sound.. i often see americans or most non brits not being able to describe it.... its actually early 2000s 'uk garage' a genre hardly used before in kpop... if you look into british artists like craig david, artful didger, shanks and bigfoot, doolally, daniel beddingfield.... thats the genre
hanni is not the leader they actually have no official positions... it seems minji is the 'unofficial' leader as shes the eldest and is quite motherly towards the other girls... i think the only reason hanni and dani were talking the most here is english is their first language so it makes sense in this chicago crowd :)
