The flavor was indistinguishable from the store bought, the texture of this recipe was superior to the store bought. The store bought texture was less creamy and more eggy. 3 things I would change: - Passing the mixture through a sieve before transferring to the ramekins would greatly improve the texture - Buttering up the ramekins would make unmolding easier - Using a bamboo skewer to unmold it, instead of a knife, would cause less damage and make for a better presentation (EDIT: None of these additional steps are necessary. I'd suggest them to someone who wants to go 1 step further.)

I’ve tried this recipe a number of times since I saw this on your channel. It’s amazing! Came to me at the perfect time. My wife and son have Nov Bday and I’m really envious they can have cake! I’m on a strict Keto diet. This recipe has gotten me through the sweet tooth gauntlet of Bdays. My only change of note is that i use brown sugar swirve for the caramel as we’ll as for the custard. Someone else, in the comments, said butter the ramekins and strain the custard before pouring both ideas Id recommend as well...if you want the smoothest texture possible. I can’t taste the difference but I could see it. Oh, I’ve tried monkfruit instead of swirve and it was horrible. Not sure why it tasted so horrid, maybe it’s just me. I’m sticking with brown sugar swirve and I can’t tell the difference between this and “regular “ flan. So, so good! TY

Joe. Flan and Creme Brulee are two different dishes. Flan uses whole eggs while creme brulee uses just yolks. The two dishes are also cooked differently. The flavor and texture are significantly different.

Nice I’ve tried this recipe several times but the sugar in the caramel sauce become hard and crunchy after it get cool and flip the flan on a plate what do u think the reason
@@redepatestodialo Then the only other way I know and use to improve texture is to replace water with heavy cream. If you want to go hardcore, you could always use allulose in place of erythritol... It behaves like sugar and has zero carbs, but it's quite expensive!
I wish there were instructions for a larger one for serving a group and to simplify clean up etc instead of individual ramekins, as cute as they are...

I've been doing the sugary flan for a long time. And Joe's presentation is by far one of the best ideas and presentation.
You are right on about using a seive, mine had a touch of grainy eggy texture.
