I don’t think any thrash list can be complete without Razor - Evil Invaders. Has to be my favorite thrash record of all time .
Great album but I think Violent Restitution just edges it slightly for me. That beginning scream on Marshall Acts still blows me away. Gets me so pumped!!!
Its Speed Metal not Thrash
Evil Invaders over Violent Restitution? Are you on crack?
@@ZachyB98me too. VR is just SOOOOO brutal
Solid. Personally my list for top 15 thrash metal albums would be:
1.Slayer - Show No Mercy
2.Razor - Executioner's Song
3.Onslaught - The Force
4.Sodom - Tapping The Vein
5.Testament - The Legacy
6.Exodus - Bonded By Blood
7.Toxic Holocaust - An Overdose of Death
8.Kreator - Endless Pain
9.Megadeth - Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?
10.Iron Angel - Hellish Crossfire
11.Mortal Sin - Face Of Despair
12.Forbidden - Forbidden Evil
13.Sepultura - Arise
14.Destruction - Release From Agony
15.Metallica - Kill Em' All
J-Dawg shouldn't be embarrassed to have Kill 'Em All on his list. Metal Militia is the song that got me into metal. In another 2 weeks Kill 'Em All will be 40 years old.
overthinking if something is poser shit just because its famous is not less poser ahah
Was about to say that
Personally i think ride the lightning is a better PC of work but I get it! Kill em all helped start it all!
The first 4 albums are rad. I also like The Black Album because it dropped when I was 13/I'm a poseur. Choose your own adventure.
@@benng4376 i like the black album too, doesn't make me or you a poseur bra
Gammacide - Victims of science is SUPER underrated. Sounds like nuclear assault meets sodom with a bit of carnivore. A classic “one record” band.
Shit, I missed out on that. Going to look that shit up
They remind me of vio lence
Gammacide is KILLER! I own about 6 different copies of that album. Definitely check it out if your like thrash !
Cool band
Blood Feast - Kill for Pleasure
Helloween - Walls of Jericho
Hobbs Angel of Death - Hobbs Angel of Death
Metallica - Kill Em All
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Overkill - Feel the Fire
Rigor Mortis - Rigor Mortis
Running Wild - Gates to Purgatory
Sadus - Illusions
Slayer - Show No Mercy
Toxic Holocaust - Evil Never Dies
Whiplash - Power and Pain
did I miss any? if not this is a top 12 lmao
He mentioned Devastation - Dispensable Bloodshed too
😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 you ain't gotta be able to count to 10 to be a metal maniac brah brah \m/
Like the way you think J-Dawg! Glad to see that other's out there love BLOOD FEAST & RIGOR MORTIS!!!
When J-Dawg posts the top 15 thrash records all morning activities stop! Banger list - keep pumpin’ out the content.
You have a pretty solid list that is respectable and some of those you picked would even make it to my list. Much better than I initially thought. I first thought that half of the bands you would pick would be newer Thrash bands that are just carbon copies of previous thrash bands and aren't even half as good as their predecessors. Some of the picks like Helloween and Running Wild however I wouldn't even consider Thrash Metal as to me they have more in common with Traditional Heavy Metal bands like Mercyful Fate and Judas Priest than they do with Overkill or Destruction although you did say that it's also a top 15 Speed Metal list as well and your not separating the two so its somewhat understandable given that context. I feel obligated now to give my top 15 Thrash Metal list. Here it is in no particular order:
1. Vio-Lence: Eternal Nightmare
2. Kreator: Pleasure to Kill
3. Forbidden: Forbidden Evil
4. Pestilence: Mallevs Maleficarvm
5. Overkill: The Years of Decay
6. Onslaught: Metal Forces
7. Slaughter: Strappado
8. Destruction: Internal Overkill
9. Sodom: Tapping the Vein
10. Tankard: The Morning After
11. Death Angel: The Ultra Violence
12. Exhorder: Slaughter In the Vatican
13. Demolition Hammer: Tortured Existence
14. Toxik: World Circus
15. Nuclear Assault: Game Over
Nuclear Assault kicks ass
>Tapping the Vein
Unfathomably based

Question: What is Metal Mickey's favorite track by Sinister?
Answer: The opener from Diabolical Summoning, the perfectly titled _SADISTIC_ _INTENT!_ \m/
nice
😂🤘🏽
WIN. 🏆
This is one of the few times I agree with both favorite song and an album with J-Dawg, Show No Mercy is also my most favorite and Antichrist is my favorite song on it. \m/ I also do consider Show No Mercy to be a proto-black metal album.
Testament- The legacy will always be in my top 10 thrash albums. Grew up with it.
Only Testament album worth owning for me.
COTLOD
this is great, some of these I don't know, so I will definitely listen to them, thanks Dawg.
Cool list bro, A few in there I have yet to hear, one on my list would be Sabbat - History of A Time To Come. Thrashtastic!
SADUS!
Yeah! Motorbreath and jump in the fire! Great tunes! I remember watching the Mexican wrestling and this guy came to the ring to seek and destroy. One time it looked like the guy who played the entrance music forgot it was on. The intro was on loop for about 20 minutes during the match haha
That’s fuckin hilarious 😂
I can’t really do a top list because I don’t own a lot of thrash metal (yet) so bit of a strict list here
Slayer - Hell Awaits
Destruction - Release from Agony
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Slaughter- Strappado
Razor - Live! Osaka Saikou 大阪最高
Voivod - Killing Techology
Metallica - Master of Puppets (Yes, really)
Megadeth - Peace Sells (YES, REALLY)
Overkill - Horoscope
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Sodom - Obsessed by Cruelty
Would include Bonded by Blood but I don’t own it so 🤷♂️
Killer list
Dude you put “yes really” on master and peace (ooooobvious choices) and not on overkill hororscope?!?!?!
kinda pedestrian though, only well known bands, for someone well seasoned in thrash there would be some far lesser known bands in there
@@nizz0matic307 post your list
Go pick up Sepultura's Beneath the Remains, then make a list.
Alphabetized Top 20: 1. Artillery - Fear of Tomorrow; 2. BFG - Behold the Iron Cross; 3. Carnivore - Carnivore; 5. Coroner - Punishment for Decadence; 6. Exodus - Pleasures of the Flesh; 7. I Really Liked Forbidden Evil It’s A Good Album I Should Put It On My List Instead Of Twisted Into Form
Chemical Exposure sends Illusions home on a stretcher.
Good list J-Dawg , I was rolling at the alien impersonation 😆 🤣 😂 😹 \m/
Glad to see illusions make the list. Sadus should have got more recognition, id replace anthrax or megadeth with them in the big four in cocaine heart beat.
Sadus first three albums DESTROY!!!!!!
You can't replace any of the big 4 wether you like 'em or not. The big 4 were the best selling acts back in the day, that's why they're called the big 4 and not the best 4.
Your list is pretty damn good! Love the Rigor Mortis (RIP Bruce & Mike) & Sadus picks but somewhere Baloff is calling you a poser for no Bonded by Blood. I'll give three obscure thrash classics that melt faces Sacrilege BC " Party With God" Evil Dead "Annihilation of Civilization" and Forced Entry's " Uncertain Future" \m/
I'll listen to it all, everyone's different,my face and truely believe to be the best us Exodus-Bonded By Blood
I've seen all your videos since the first one, but it's my first time commenting. I sincerely believe that Gates to Purgatory is a heavy metal album.
I'm sure you know about Hypnosia's Extreme Hatred album, but if not.. give it a listen man! For me it's right next to Pleasure to Kill and Illusions.
Destruction, Forbidden, Exodus, Death Angel
one album per band. the list is without historical value or nostalgia bs.
1. Dekapitator - Storm before the Calm. Just pure perfection.
2 Metallica - AJFA
3.Slayer - Hell Awaits
4. Demolition Hammer - Epidemic of violence
5. Violator - Chemical Assault
6. Sodom - Code Red
7. Toxic Trace - Torment
8. Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
9. Suicidal Angels - Eternal Domination. It is impossible to sound so evil with this kind of production but they nailed it here. hundreds of riffs.
10. Raped God 666 - Executioner
11. Municipal Waste - The art of Partying
12. Sadus - Illusions
13. Destruction - Antichrist
14. Mantic Ritual - Executioner. 2 Executioners on the list he he.
15.Heller - Heller
That Mantic Ritual album was overlooked for soo long, along with many other newer thrash albums. Suicidal Angels fucken' rips, I wonder if J-Dawg has every checked them out.
retro thrash was awesome 15 years ago.I would add, Bonded By Bloods Feed the beast album and Lich Kings World Gone dead. Suicidal Angels have too clean production for its own sake but the first album is a masterpiece. there is no similar thrash album to that particular one. pure evil and I am sure J Dawg would like it . Probably the band with best riffs in whole thrash genre. Dead Again is also perfect from start to finish but I prefer Nicks older style of vocals and more atmospheric production on debut. Also , their compilation of demos Bloodthirsty Humanity crushes so hard. I would pay some more money for that CD.
AJFA is tremendous and my favorite Metallica album. Hell Awaits is classic Slayer. With Sodom I'd go with Agent Orange. Darkness Descends is legendary. Just commenting on some of the albums on your list. Awesome 🤘
@@SuperStrik9 just got remastered copy of Darkness Descends. whoever did it did it right. it crushes, its way more louder and cleaner.
for neck break thrash, Toxic Trace Torment is the ultimate winner.
Super pissed at the Dawg for not including some of my favorite thrash albums.
Would of taken your devastion Chicago of the list and replaced it with artillery fear of tomorrow or hallows eve tales of terror
Is anyone else excited for the 20 year anniversary repress of 'Evil Never Dies'? It is coming out as a double lp. I guess there is a second recording of the album never released!
Toxic Holocaust with Havok this Friday in NorCal! I haven't been to a show since Slayer farewell 2018,godamnit, and Aftershock's lineup is fuckin embarrassing!
Infernal Majesty none shall defy, Dark Angel darkness descends, voivod killing technology, Forced entry, nuclear Assault game over..... But damn there's endless others in 80's thrash just as Omen was in the early 80's as sacrifice, Hirax, Exciter.............🤘🔥🤘 And damn Pantera was real candy ass sh.. when they came out, I was like ugh. I rather listen to mortal sin and laaz rockit
Aw Hell Yeah!!!
Solid list. Hobb’s needs to get mentioned more. I didn’t even hear them until I saw some Australian Metal documentary around 5-6yrs ago. I was way to late to that party
Late to the party too, that last album was killer also
Fuck yeah it is
"Wargasm-Why play Around?"
Razor: Executioners Song. Exodus: Bonded by Blood. Destruction: Infernal Overkill.
Necrodeath: Into The Macabre.
Demolition Hammer: Tortured Existence.
Slaughter: Strappado
Dark Angel: Darkness Descends.
Slayer: Hell Awaits.
Great list. All classics. I am surprised I didn't see Demolition Hammer on there though, J-Dawg! And yeah, Evil Never Dies is a great album. I bought that fucker right when it came out. And no doubt Kill 'Em All should be on that list. Kill 'Em All and Show No Mercy are the albums that really started it all for me personally.
Gary the original singer for Blood Feast is back as of last year. I saw them at the Dragon Rojo festival in Tijuana last year and they sounded great. I believe a new album is on the way as they played a couple new songs.
Unfortunately,Gary is out again. Adam, the guitarist is handling vocals now. New Material is on the way. Should be interesting to see what's to come.
Demolition Hammer - Epidemic of Violence. Relentless album.
Your Panterrible rants are always appreciated 🤘🤮🤘
Favorite *Overkill* album is "Under The Influence" and for *Slayer* its "Reign In Blood". For guys in my age range and older, it's pretty common for them to hate *Slayer* after "Reign In Blood". It's an unpopular opinion, but personally, I don't think *Slayer* ever did a 100% terrible album. Even the homeboy album got some good tracks.
Great Overkill album. Drunken Wisdom is a fuckin banger!
@zacharyseibert4526 that's one of my favorites. Not sure why someone would like the first 2 Overkill albums and not that one.

JDawg what's better Salmon or Tuna? Both staple protein sources. Also, what are your thoughts on intermittent fasting?
I love Walls of Jericho but don't consider it thrash. More of a speed metal/power metal/heavy metal record. Just saw them live with all three singers(Pumpkins United) and I have to say they were the greatest live band I've ever witnessed. 🇩🇪 🎃 🍺
Yeah Walls is a power/speed album but I doubt JDawg listens to the genre much so whatevs.
Agreed. Live they’re incredible now with the 3 singers
DRI 4 of a kind.
Punk band...not thrash
@@joningram4187 Thrash is a 'crossover' of punk and metal - some bands came from the punk side, like DRI, The Accused, SOD and Suicidal Tendencies. Most of my favorites at the time would be from that direction. The Metal bands who took from punk mostly seemed too polished to my ears, but now that I'm old, I'm starting to like them too.
Agree on all of them! Show No Mercy is Slayer’s best album and Rigor Mortis is 10/10 easily!

Good f*(king morning, godd*mnit!
Dang, I'm almost 50... was into metal since '84, thought I knew a lot about it until I found your channel. My knowledge is infinitely less than yours - embarrassing. I was thinking b/c I was into obscure bands like Piledriver (YES, I know it wasn't a real band now, but then no one know), Venom, et al that I had some secret knowledge.
I don't know half of the bands you cover on this channel. COOL!!! I'll be buying some new copies now.
I've got piledriver on vinyl....classic
No Annihilator!? What do you meaaaaaaan you don’t have any Annihilator in the top 15. I’m appalled.
Witches Brew is a label made for made for Thrashers.
Great list Dawg, but no Bonded by Blood? Thats the Altars of Madness of Thrash in my book, as in it's the album that represents everything the genre stands for. Plus, Paul Baloffs vocals are some of the most vicious and evil in Thrash history.
To quote Gary " Baloff greatest thrash singer ever and he only made the same album twice"
I remember when no death, black, thrash, grind, goregrind, or subgenres existed. Older family members that listened to heavy metal didn't call it "heavy metal;" they called it Black Sabbath, Budgie, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, etc, etc. Today I still consider it all as "metal" even though I know the genres.
Same here...."fucking metal" PERIOD
Great list, all these rip.
Beneath the remains.
The Helloween pick really surprised me. The stuff from Keepers Pt1 and beyond really leaned into the power metal sound for the most part. Their Straight Out of Hell album is an absolute masterpiece in my opinion. My favorite by them. Also, their newest album has ALL 3 singers on it; Kai Hansen, Michael Kiske, and Andi Deris. That one is very good too. I strongly encourage you check at least Straight Out of Hell.
I thought metal church should have been there instead of kill em all, kinda surprised there was no agent orange, darkness descends or some of those sepultura albums after schizophrenia before they went full gay.
Can we get a J Dawg / Hellwitch interview please!?!?!?!?! ????
Yes!!!!! Do it!
Finally love for devastation....im from chicago...54 here an old metal head. Had the pleasure of seeing them a few times....got the ORIGINAL demos....
The first full length Nuclear Assault lp and ep are among the best Thrash Metal releases. They would have been better without stupid songs like Lesbians, Hang the Pope and Butt Fuck. Pleasure to Kill, Hallows Eve - Tales of Terror, and Death and Insanity, Wargod , Holy Moses, Viking, INC , Forbidden, Violence, and Skinless Rodent are some of my favorite Thrash Metal bands
No. Those songs by Nuclear Assault are great and even have some of the earliest examples of blast beats that would influence bands like Napalm Death and would become a staple in Extreme Metal. Makes sense that you would consider those songs to be stupid given your self descriptive user Id.
33:55 - 33:58 " (Mortician) It's just not the best representation for overall Metal. "
Hands down the most honest thing Dawg has stated so far, I applaud you sir, you're getting there.👍
It's Show No Mercy, or Painkiller from Judas Priest, or Pantera ''The great southern trendkill''.
@@lopoliklove the Great Southern Trendkill but it for sure isn’t a great representation of metal. Now, Far Beyond Driven or Reinventing the Steep are.
@@harryquinn493 Oh ok. I love Far Beyond Driven, and Reinventing - not so much, my two favorite are Trendkill and Cowboys from Hell, but Far Beyond is also great. I never understood why Vulgar Display of Power is most people's favorite, it was a downgrade from Cowboys from hell, and also not as heavy as the following 2 albums...
@@lopolik Love Vulgar but the lyrics are a bit silly at times and some too “rappy” sounding parts at times.
@@harryquinn493 Yeah, I mean it has its moments, I think ''Fucking Hostile'', ''Hollow'' especially Hollow is one of the most beautiful songs they've made (the first part of the song), also No Good (Attack the Radical) is great. It's just the song Walk is so overrated, and not really that good compared to the other songs, that's probably the reason I listen to this album the least.
My Kreator favorite is Extreme Aggression, Metallica it's MOP, for Slayer, a tie between SOH and SNM. Also I like Venom WTH for this list, even though it could IMO be considered a root-band for death, black, and thrash. I'd definitely put Coroner PFD in there. Forbidden in their forbidden evil form belongs too for me.
Banger ass list. Curious your opinion on thought industry?
This dude definitely on steroids.
Helloween is thrash?? Always thought they were power metal
Walls Of Jericho is largely considered a speed metal album by many, probably their heaviest album imo. After that the power metal sound was forged and ushered in. It’s a stellar album and I’d recc it.
Personally i like thrash from 88-1990 the best. I mean look at some of the gems that came out in 88 alone.
Sadus-illusions
Steel Vengeance- Prisoners
Flotsam and Jetsam- no place for disgrace
Dissection(Can)- Final genocide
Nuclear Assault- survive
Bulldozer-Neurodeliri
violence- eternal nightmare,
overkill- under the influence
Death Angel- Frolic through the park
Forbidden - Forbidden Evil (1988)
some of those I too would have chosen, others not
a couple I feel bad for missing hearing! (why don't I know of that Devastation?!?)

great list. bonded by blood! but how is kill em all better than mop? i dont get it.
@@cycochris07 Picking a favorite Metallica album is a tough call between the first four. I could easily change my mind about that depending on what my mood is at the time. I put one album by each band, Kill Em'All got the ball rolling and like a lot of early thrash metal, all of the songs are about how metal rules, killing people and killing posers. Definitely Metallica at their rawest and most aggressive, but the songs are still memorable and great.
sadus illusions is awesome way heavier than wimptera lmao.
Carnivore is up there for me
Better than among the living, about as good. Definitely better than spreading the disease
I'll do my wimpy poser top 15
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Kreator - Endless Pain
Exodus - Bonded by Blood
Sacrifice - Forward to Termination
Slayer - Hell Awaits
Darkness - Death Squad
Metallica - Kill em All
Sepultura - Morbid Visions
Assassin - The Upcoming Terror
Poison - Into the Abyss
Possessed - Seven Churches
Megadeth - Killing is my Business
Sabbat - History of a Time to Come
Protector - Golem
Sodom - Agent Orange
I do really like Walls of Jericho & Feel the Fire but not thrash enough for this list.
Honourable mentions to Holy Moses, Destruction, Coroner, Whiplash, Anthrax, Testament, Vio-Lence, Razor, Onslaught, Deathrow, Exumer, Infernal Majesty, Bloodfeast, Hobbs, Cyclone and Demolition Hammer who could all have made the cut if I was in a different mood!
Devastation Chicago is my favorite Death/Thrash band. I especially like their debut demo a creation of ripping death.
Whiplash the band can't go wrong
Blood feast has a new album out
I would of sandwiched a demolition hammer in there and just maybe Among the Living.. but I get it
OverKill is pure thrash metal
Overkill Is One Of My Favorite Thrash Metal Bands 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great list, But Never be ashamed or embarrassed of having 'KEA' in your top favorite thrash metal list. I know when i bought it upon it's release way back in '83 It was fucking top notch and Is still a top Thrash Metal album today. KEA is the only album I need buy Metallica.... even tho I do own the first 3 and the garage days ep (For the cover songs)... But dude in 83 when I bought SLAYER - Show No Mercy was and is one of the greatest debut albums of all time.
Thrash was influenced by NWOBHM and hardcore punk. Theres no punk in Helloween's formula.
It's your list, who cares what we think,.it's good to see someones list.
I'm not watching all 40 min of this but I hope to whomever Sepultura's Beneath the Remains or Schizophrenia is on your list. Those albums destroy anything by any U.S. thrash metal band, except maybe early Slayer. Arise is my all around favorite album by Sepultura, but for full on thrash it's BTR or Schizophrenia.
spoiler: not on the list
You aren't wrong. Beneath is a killer album
First 4 Sepultura are peak Thrash. Then it quickly falls off.
Whiplash Thrashback was a good album. The original lineup was together on that.
If i were to make a top 15 Thrash list, "Suicidal Tendencies - Lights...Camera...Revolution" would definitely be there somewhere.
My favorites are a tie: Slayer - South of Heaven and Metallica - And Justice for All.
Favorite DM: Deicide self titled.
BM: Darkthrone - Transylvanian Hunger tied with Revenge - Victory…
Im always shocked Sadus- Chemical Exposure (thats how i know it as, got the CD back in 96) is never on any of these top 20 lists, as its EASILY one of the best. So its fucking nice to see it finally get some love.
Powermad - Absolute Power is one of my all-time favorite thrash albums.
Great list. Mine would be something like this off the top of my head so I'm sure I'm forgetting some, not entirely in order:
Sodom- Obsessed by Cruelty
Demolition Hammer- Epidemic of Violence
Razor- Violent Restitution
Infernal Majesty- None Shall Defy
Destruction- Infernal Overkill
Kreator- Pleasure to Kill
Voivod- War and Pain
Overkill- Feel the Fire
Sadus- Illusions
Dark Angel- Darkness Descends
Protector- Urm the Mad
Slayer- Hell Awaits
Testament- The Legacy
Vio-lence- Eternal Nightmare
Celtic Frost- To Mega Therion
Celtic Frost and Sodom is more proto-black metal, but great list man. I actually consider even Slayer proto-black / death metal with Hell Awaits and show no mercy.
@lopolik yeah I really debated putting To Mega Therion for that reason in the end I decided to but it is probably a little more on the black metal side. Obsessed is about 50-50 black/thrash for me so I included it, it's also probably my favorite album of all time. I can see that argument for Slayer still would say it's more on the thrash side but I do see the death metal elements on Hell Awaits and Reign in Blood and even some proto-black on Show No Mercy.
@@samstroberg8533 Oh ok, interesting man. I love To Mega Therion as well, it is my favorite Celtic Frost album along with Morbid Tales / Emperor's Return. I really love the first Sodom, but my favorite is definitely Persecution Mania - and even with that album it's 50/50 black/thrash, I think Agent Orange is the Sodom album that I would say the most thrash sounding in my opinion. Yeah, that's how I see it too man, Reign in Blood is more death metal elements, but Show No Mercy is more black metal elements, and I guess Hell Awaits also kind of both.
@lopolik Persecution Mania would definitely be on here if I was doing more than one album per band, yeah it is pretty black thrash sounding, total banger.
@@samstroberg8533 goddamn right man.
Venom -blood lust ☕🚬
When you mentioned walls of jericho you failed to mention your on the album cover and R.I.P. Peter Hobbs
Watching Helloween at Castle Donnington in 1988 playing Ride the Sky was a great experience. Hobb's Angel of Death for me is the best Thrash Metal band to come out of Australia. Feel the Fire came out in 1985 but was re released by Megaforce in 1987. My favourite track off Gates of Purgatory is probably Diabolic Force and an unpopular opinion with my mates is i prefer Sacred Reich over Slayer. Their latest album Awakening is really good i think. The first two Sadus albums are brutal as fuck.
have you ever heard of allegiance their another great Australian thrash metal band their 1994 album destitution is unreal
