This is a clip from the 1990/1991 television film, WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE? starring real-life sisters Lynn & Vanessa Redgrave. It has been mostly forgotten due to the many negative comparisons of it to the original film starring Bette Davis & Joan Crawford. This film was not just a remake, but a retelling of the story. The emotions and events are very different and I believe this film is as great as the original. Lynn Redgrave's portrayal of Jane Hudson is phenomenal, as you will see from these clips. I wanted to post these in memory of her - she just passed away this week and there was nothing here on RUclips of her great performance as Baby Jane Hudson. RIP Lynn.......8 March 1943 2 May 2010
Oh wow I remember watching this version when I was child. Memories just coming back. Thx.
In both new and old versions, Blanch had countless opportunities to get help. Jane seems to be out of the house almost 50% of the time. Just open the damn window Blanch, and scream for help. It gets almost monotonous the amount of times she
lets another opportunity for freedom slip through her fingers.
If they did another remake it should definitely be Meryl Streep and Glenn Close.
It would be good to have those two together
My ideal cast for a 2020s remake would be
Cathy Moriarty as Jane Hudson
Sadie Brook as young adult Jane
Olivia Hussey as Blanche Hudson
India Eisley as young adult Blanche
Bill Sage as Edwin Flagg
Pam Ferris as the maid
What if Helena Bonham Carter played Jane?
@Lester Burhnam Why? She's known for playing psychos and villains.
Fuck that- michelle pfieffer is the only one for Jane, Julia roberts as Blanche
"I may not drive straight, but I can still think straight"
Are you sure????
I thought I recognized her! She played Rogers, in Toothless!
Thank you. Couldn't agree more.
This remake surpassed the original in my opinion. The first film is really good, but this one, with L. Redgrave as some kind of giant, demented Raggedy Ann doll, delivering lines like, "Look harder! Make it a quest!" is fascinating. Maybe I've seen the original too many times, and I'm just so tired of the slavish gay love the Davis-Crawford vehicle, but I find this film refreshing and an entity unto itself. Thanks, again, for posting these clips!
Keith DeWeese You’re hilarious tell me Another joke?? Ohh wait I’ve got one The Joke is you
What?! This looks like a high school project.
@jdoesmith85210 Bette & Joan were great actresses, but Lynn & Vanessa are as well. This is a modern revisit to a classic story. Not everyone will enjoy it, but there are a lot of people who do & will.
Anyone who thinks this was great is a fool it was flat n boring no real emotion anyone who likes this shit version clearly doesn't know what classics are this was a joke n embarrassing
They keep remaking a star is born, so why bother, but they do. It's the storyline, it can still happen, even today. It's never about topping the previous version. Instead of 2 sisters, how about 2 brothers , now that would be interesting. What do you think.
upload whole movie please
@danalamb3 That is the great Lynn Redgrave. Such a great actress gone way too soon.
@jdoesmith85210 Where did you buy it? Please tell me, I must know.
Is this movie on DVD?
@Michael McGeehan... You should see the entire movie before you talk about it.
You flat thought's guy.
+Stormer Ferrari This shit will give you nightmares "Stormer".
if. they. where. to. do. a remake of what ever happened. to. baby jane they should. cast. bette. milder as. baby. jane joey g
Vanessa Redgrave accent is terrible. Lynn is more impressive
What about Becky Lynch to play baby Jane and Charlotte Flair to play Blanche?
My ideal cast for a 2020s remake would be
Cathy Moriarty as Jane Hudson
Sadie Brook as young adult Jane
Olivia Hussey as Blanche Hudson
India Eisley as young adult Blanche
Bill Sage as Edwin Flagg
Pam Ferris as the maid
I don't really like this version so much from what I've seen. I'll give it a chance, but this Jane is a bit too underwhelming for me... I don't really get a sense of her being a vindictive, unhappy little girl trapped in the body of a mentally unstable old woman, like Bette Davis portrayed her as.
Exactly this version sucked these actresses are god awful
clown lips
wtf
Good grief, this is awful! The dialogue is SO flat! Where is the emotion that Bette and Joan shed on these lines? Just terrible! Glad I never watched it.
You didn't miss anything this version was shit only people who don't like black n White movies like this shit version especially when they watched this horrible version first the original should never been copied its embarrassing this version was a flop the ratings on it were a flop
@michael19403 well honestly, the original was terribly OVERacted to the point of comedy camp compared to this one being way more subtle and little more true to life. however the original is the "classic" i guess.
You clearly don't get the classics this movie sucks the original was much better those 2 really hated each other which made the movie amazing this movie was a flop proving it couldn't hold a candle to the original
