This performance and Prince's solo are the greatest music clips on YT
Ann wilson.the greatest female voice in rock n roll.
What people forget is Ann is only 2 years younger than Robert. It show how powerful she is. To be honest Heart are legends in their own right. Thank You for this show it is AWESOME!!
When i first watched that, i was seriously in tears. It was an amazing homage. The whole thing had SO MUCH POWER. Cant imagine what they felt like performing it in person
HEART is a legend by themselves. However, as a Led Zep fan who was at the Tampa 73 and the "infamous 77" concerts, HEART's production of Stairway to Heaven will always be one of the greatest performance of all times!
The best performance of a rock song EVER!!!! period......
She couldn’t see them!! She had to watch what everyone else watched on RUclips to see their reactions!!! I actually cried out loud for a few seconds.
It was hands down the most incredible moment in rock history. The Wilson sisters nailed it!!
Ann’s voice is legendary
Even her speaking voice here is one that stops you in your tracks. Just incredible!
Yes it is...I´ve never watched so close...she´s a gorgeous woman, what a beautyfull woman and her eyes too.
I don't think she ever had vocal training--It's just God-given brilliance.
The greatest vocal ever!
Ann is wonderful and nailed it, but this moving performance is a credit to each and every person on that stage. Sheer brilliance and truly epic in heart felt emotion by all.
I saw the show when it first aired on TV and have watched and shared the RUclips video numerous times since. I took my 25 year old daughter to see Heart with Joan Jett in concert last summer. I dared pray that they perform this song and THEY DID! Without the choir, of course, but still sounded amazing.
Heart was the perfect choice to do this cover. The fact that Ann could pull off the vocals and that she's one of the only singers in the world that could is a compliment to both her and to Robert Plant. Both sisters and Shane Fontayne show incredible reverence for the original. Having Jason Bonham on drums was icing on the cake.
The greatest rock song in history by the greatest male rock vocalist in history performed by the greatest female vocalist in history during one of the greatest rock moments in history!
When the choir came in on “As we wind on down the road”, I was in tears at the power generated by everybody but mostly wishing Bonzo was with his band mates watching and hearing this go down. Amazing work!
Oh he was,he was!
Greatest Tribute ever recorded...
They couldn't of picked a better singer. Ann is a goddess.
Hallijueha, or something like that, The Voice of an Angel, my Friend a lot of people sing, but this Gal can sang, and I mean come on, she's a Looker, and she can sang a, jus sàyin ¡😎¡
Calling Stairway the "Gettysburg Address of Rock&Roll" was brilliantly accurate at the very least..!
If Stairway was the Gettysburg Address then Kashmir must be the equivalent of "We'll fight them on the beaches..." or "I have a dream".
The lyrics to Stairway to Heaven make no sense and The Gettysburg Address besides being a masterfully written speech helped heal a country. Put each side by side and read them out loud.
Next you’ll be equating Whole Lotta Love to “I Have a Dream.”
I hope Ann knows that the performance was one of the greatest performances I have ever seen. EVER.
Brings me to tears every time, one of the most powerful performances I’ve seen in any style of music.
I'm with Mark 100%!!
Yes!
Mark Rufino
You tell it , just unforgettable !!
There's not one time I'm not brought to tears.... Everyone on that stage gave the Best performance of all time period nothing gets better than that
Ann is a natural. She was born to sing. Hats off to Nancy as well. You ladies are remarkable....rock on!
Have watched the YT of Heart playing Kennedy Center Honors Stairway at least 20 times. The build up throughout is incredible, leading to the choir all wearing the john Bohnam Bowler hat (circa 1975). Never gets old.
This performance was a rocketship to heaven.
that night was an iconic moment in the entire history of rock and roll
Nobody else could cover that song the way Heart did. Epic!
The faces of jimmy and robert in that moment is priceless
Absolute magic! I hope all who were in attendance realizes that they were there when all the stars aligned! Thank goodness for RUclips for the rest of us mere mortals!
I cry everytime I see that performance
I had tears watching that performance live. A grown ass man with tears!
When I noticed Robert Plant was teared up, I didn't feel so bad. 😁
Ann left it all on the field that night! Just 😮❤️
My mind and ears and everything are blown when I see this performance. Every time.
Greatest female rock voice ever , no question. Awesome band.
it was pure magic,the choirs,the brass,the drums.the organ,the solo,nancys guitar,anns vocals and of course the hats...rip bonzo
i watch it whenever i start to feel down
and it brings me back to happy every time
ive always loved heart and i had that dreamboat annie poster on my bedroom wall in the seventies
i think ill go buy another one
Ann and Nancy Wilson ¨ Heart ¨ saw them twice Lived = A Great Inspiration for me and the Musician that I am. Ann Wilson = one of the Greatest Voice in Music History = lot of Soul - Power - Sweetness and Love. Nancy has also a Sweet and beautiful Voice = Great Vocals Harmonies = We are blessed !
When she says it felt still like that, that’s her body telling her it was perfect. That it couldn’t have gotten any better than that. She did a tremendous job, and to make it where it’s re watched over and over again is astounding. Ann and Nancy Wilson are two living legends, creating history for themselves. I’m quite sad I didn’t get to experience them or any of these great bands in the late 70’s-80’s, but I’m glad I get to experience them at all.
In my opinion this was the best version of Stairway to Heaven. Almost every day I watch this performance. Perfect Ann Wilson, a wonderful choir and simply one of the best guitar solos I've ever heard (Shane Fontayne was super inspired, what a perfection). They will never make a cover as perfect as that! Congratulations to those who designed this version. Perfect !!!!!
As powerful as it gets. Ann has it all...sexy, power, tenderness, incredible vocal talent. This performance is one for the ages, no doubt.
That was the best cover of one of the most iconic songs in rock history.
I guess technically that was a cover, But in my humble opinion, Ann, Nancy and the entire ensemble made that song their own. Seeing from the guys from Zeppelin experience something they created, loved by millions, and fumbled by countless guitarists in countless guitar shops around the world reduce them to tears and smiles of joy is nothing short of amazing. Ann and Nancy Wilson are magic. Man.
Ann Wilson has one of the most amazing voices of all time
Most beautiful woman with the most beautiful voice I've ever seen or heard.
No way this woman is over 60 years of age. She looks great and still sings better than anyone.
If only I had been born in the 50s instead of the 80s,maybe I could have had a chance with her
Ann Wilson, what a performance !! What a voice , what a talent !!
Ann is a POWERHOUSE !!!
Honestly the most powerful cover I've ever heard. I wish I could be a smidge as talented as Ann.
I 've watched this 2, 3x a night for the last year. I cant get enough! Stellar - hits all the senses - a religious experience
No matter how Highly rated Heart Ann/Nancy-are,,they are still underrated. So fantastic I have no words.
This entire recording -- from the Wilson sisters' performance, to Plant and Page's reaction -- is nothing short of outstanding 💕
My favorite all time live performance! So incredible! Makes me tear up every time. ❤️
Two of the best singers in rock. Robert Plant and Ann Wilson! 🤘
Are you sure you don’t mean Ann?
Irene Downie Yes, thanks! Now corrected.
One the best rock vocalists ever.
One of the great covers
Ever
Ann Wilson is legendary
The greatest!
The only person that could pull it off. Bravo ann.👍
I also watch that performance regularly. Gotta be one of the best covers of all time, and it’s live!
I believe it was the greatest moment of live performances in rock history. Hands down.
I saw that performance at the Kennedy Center Honors it was just amazing with the choir I was in tears by the end of it!
Ann Wilson did Justice to the song and to Robert Plant as well as his bandmates!
I still get goosebumps watching that video almost 8 years after it came out.
Chokes me up and brings me to tears every time. Thanks...
I remember watching this on TV that night, and even though I am not a huge Zep fan, I am a huge Heart fan, and consider this the number one cover version of any song. That night, and every time I watch the video, including right before I wrote this, I tear up.
Ann is in my top 3 of Rock Vocalists, tied with Freddie Mercury & after Steve Perry. Not female vocalists, but just plain old Rock n Roll vocalists. She just brings it every single time.
Was so good seeing all of the different people into this version, at the honors.
I was going to say ONE of the most incredible performances ever but this is THE MOST incredible performance ever. Every man, ever woman on stage did an amazing job. You know how Hurt has become Johnny Cash's song? Stairway to Heaven belongs to Heart and the rest of the performers on stage.
No. Zeppelin wrote it, it will always belong to them. This cover was amazing, but some of the live Zeppelin versions are amazing as well.
Ann is the true power there. She could have held it on her own.
@@zepman9200 yes amazing in very different ways, for me this version has the most epic feel about it, the arrangement and vocals are just on another level.
Heart and Ann Wilson are every bit as legendary. There is NO one with a voice like hers! It’s like Royalty singing royalty
One of the best performances ever.
Only 15 time? Must of seen this 150 time by now. One of the top 3 live rock performance EVER. Ann KILLED the lead vocals. Absolute masterpiece.
I've watched this performance a dozen times myself! Jimmy and JPJ are overjoyed but Robert's soul is vibrating with this powerful performance. That right there is a pure example of what humanity could be.
I’m here because I’ve watched the original version 100+ times. This is my all time favorite video on RUclips. I am mesmerized every single time. BRAVO!!! It’s perfection to me. I think about it every damned day 😂🎉💗
She's a goddess! Thanks for the music Ann and Heart💖💖💖💖
You guys nailed it. You made Robert Plant cry. He still misses Bonzo. But when he sees Jason - Uncle Robert is on it. Go Seattle! from Idaho
Perhaps the GREATEST cover of a band...Played TO THAT BAND...
EVER! Sublime Rock & Roll! ✊🏾 🤟🏽🐻
that was such a powerful performance
And yet these two women are so humble yet so great!
So glad you are still talking about this performance. I cannot think of another band more appropriate to cover this song. I have so much respect for Heart. This cover is THE BEST cover of any song I have ever seen. Talk about hitting it out of the park! Bravo! You ladies and all the other beautiful musicians and choir performers COULD NOT have done a better job. Thank you!
I grew up listening to this beautiful lady and her beautiful voice I am so thankful for that!
They wouldn't have dared to let anyone other than Heart perform that song. It still brings tears to my eyes when I hear that choir of angles backing Ann up.
I watched that over and over. It almost looked like Jason was meditating while Ann was singing until it was his time to bust in. I've seen Jason and his band in concert, he does his father proud.
I like the Gin Blossoms shirt. Gotta get one of those.
This performance gave me chills. Jason Bonham just channels Bonzo so well. Ann always knocks anything LZ out of the park.
Maybe discuss the Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Prince, George Harrison RnR HOF in the future? Prince just GOES OFF in one of the most electrifying guitar solos ever.
And then how Prince just throws his guitar into the air at the end and nonchalantly leaves the stage. The essence of cool.
Ann wilson and the band they put together to do Stairway to Heaven was astounding. There were so many people who performed so well together, and her singing was exceptional. But when you think about it, it really makes you understand how great Led Zeppelin really was because all those people were needed to come close to the power, talent and aura that is Led Zeppelin. They were truly remarkable. The greatest of all time. Thank you for that, excellent clip.
One of the greatest covers ever! Period! Oh yeah, Ann Wilson has one of the greatest voices, ever! Period!
Imagine how Nancy felt here, getting out there and playing the intro completely solo.
I get nervous playing in front of my teacher, I'd freak out in front of Jimmy.
I would’ve shit myself.
They might have said something...@@TheDivayenta
I got chills and cried when I saw that video the first time.
Ann Wilson is so under-rated. Well before RUclips, I enjoyed her songs and always wondered how she could sing so well! never knew she wrote the songs too.. Such a talent. Thanks for the video!
Ann and Nancy Wilson.. wow, what can you NOT say. These ladies are amazing. Loved them and Heart for decades. What they did that night brings a tear to my eye. No one can rock Led Zep like Ann can, gives me goose bumps every time I see that performance!!
It was the greatest musical performance I'd ever seen.
Greatest cover of any song - ever... I’ve watched this 50 times at least. Magical moment.
My very 1st concert was Heart 1983 Passionworks tour. I saw them at Bumbershoot in Seattle in 2013 and they sounded the same! Maybe even better. I will always love them. Thank you!!
Nice to hear I wasn't the only one moved to tears..tears of joy..
Legends covering legends. Freaking amazing.
I had such a crush on Ann back in the '70s. To me she is the most powerful female rock vocalist of all time.
I have seen Heart 3 times live and they never disappoint....
@Howard Bueker way to go! I'm only at 6 I think. My first time was at 11 years old when they opened for April Wine in my hometown of Kamloops BC in 1976!
Ann and Nancy are amazing. They absolutely rock
So beautiful. Legend
Annie and Nancy are so beautiful. Amazing talented voice in Annie, and an awesome guitarist in Nancy. And what an awesome night it was to hear Heart play and sing one of my many favorite songs of Led Zeppelin. WoW!❤
One of the greatest bands and greatest voices of all time.
That performance was SO GOOD! INCREDIBLE REALLY!!! ABSOLUTE CHILLS!
Wonderful I cried everytime I hear this classic
That performance gives me goose bumps all the time i watch it. Master piece, no doubt it!
The legendary icon! Ann Wilson!!!
Anne Wilson,simply the best!
You here it for 20 time. Me I can't stop repeating it. It was incredible.
I watched her on that show ,, I was so moved I went to iTunes and bought it ! 👏🏼🥰👏🏼😍👏🏼😘👏🏼
Now I envision seeing the show every time I hear it ! ❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️
Greatest live cover all time!
I saw that live and it was a moment that changed my life. I saw the world differently.. Was blown away!
Hands down the best cover I’ve heard and/or seen. I still watch the performance on RUclips at least once a month. 🤘🏼
The best ever cover version. Amazing job
It was a historical event and Ann rocked it, blew the roof off is an understatement. Simply the best.
