- In a clip from this classic interview with Dan Rather, Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson talk about how their now legendary rendition of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" at the Kennedy Center Honors came to be. Later, the sisters talk about performing with Jason Bonham (son of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham), if they feel like they "sold out" in their career, and more.

When you get a standing ovation from Led Zeppelin, you have reached the pinnacle. It was well deserved too.
This was an epic performance, and what made it even better was watching the members from Led Zeppelins faces, and seeing their emotional reactions. They definitely pulled it off. 👏 👏 👏 Bravo!
Completely concur, one of the most emotional things I have seen!
Still considered the #1 performance ever in The Kennedy Center Honors history. Simply an amazingly extraordinary performance.
Hands down, best cover ever.
Not only did Robert Plant shed tears, so did I. And many Many more ✌️💞🎶🙏
This will go down in history as the BEST cover of a song! Beautifully done as evidenced by the emotions on the faces of the men of Led Zeppelin. EPIC!
I've never been a fan of "cover songs. " For the most part, I usually hate them. But this one? This was on an entirely different plane! This was an EPIC MASTERCLASS performance!
Agree!
Without question the most beautifully explosive performances of all time. Legendary Ladies!!!
Greatest cover I've ever heard!
They were incredible. Also, I am sure Plant liked it, it took all of them to equal what he did alone. You can see his affection in his eyes.
No one can compare to Ann Wilson!! She is the 🐐 G.O.A.T !!! Heart is my favorite band!!!! Seen them
Many times must see live !!
I became fan '87 and my late grandmother bought me "Bad Animals" c-cassette for x-mas present. That was on my wishlist. 😊 Best sisters is music business ans stairway is EPIC. Watch it year after year.
Epic performance…. HEART ♥️ I can understand feeling the way they do concerning selling out in 80s; videos, and lack of true Rock essence. Many rock bands from another time felt this way. I have mad respect for these awesome ladies.
Love these two so much, and their contributions to the world of music over the years! ❤🎶❤
I saw them Live with Jason Bonham, and loved the entire show! When I saw this with Led Zep members watching I was so happy it brought tears to my eyes. 💖💖💖
I do remember that very well. It was literally everywhere and Heart deserved that.
They killed this
Such a moving cover. You can see the appreciation in Zepp"s eyes and reaction. This will go down as one of the all-time great covers (and likely my #1 personally).
Let's us give thanks for the Wilson sisters parents who made these two gorgeous and talented women!
I would never have trusted anyone else to have covered this song. Ann and Nancy - often referred to as the 'female Led Zeppelin' and would play Zep songs in their own sets - perfectly captured this, infront of surely the most discerning audience. You could almost see Jimmy playing along in his head, like some wizened sage watching his prodigy. And true to the original, this song grew and grew and grew. It is a masterpiece. My favourite cover of all time...
It was fantastic. I’m sure it helped that Heart had been doing Led Zeppelin covers live - including Stairway - from their earliest days. They had decades of prep to kill it on that night…
Great live show, brilliant band ♥️
I learned at a show in Mansfield MA that Heart needed 3 guitarists to cover what Page did alone. Vocally superb as Ann always is.
Saw this before. Thanks for sharing it. Of anyone else during that time, they truly Rocked the clothes best and best music of that time period hands down. All their music has been the best. ❤
The greatest cover of any song. I completely lose it and start sobbing at the part when Robert Plant gets teary eyed.
Nothing like this EVER!!!!!!!!!
I've been a follower of Heart since the Dreamboat Annie Days. While it was obvious that the ladies were compromising their sound a bit, you saw that with other bands which were aging. At least they didn't put out any disco. And Nancy may not like it, but she looked wonderful with the big hair.
THANKS ✌️
I think if anyone was going to do stairway to heaven it has to be Hart. 👍
legends
Loved u guys even in the 80s.
The band “Train” are my fave Coverers of this band
those chicks still rockin it 😍
They are nothing but bad ass ladies!
💛
I didn't even know Heart covered 'Stairway to Heaven'.
I for one would really love it if Heart would stick to their own songs.
Why did she say Buy Jing instead of buying at the end
I read she wanted to mimic how Plant sang it. BuyinG-ah-Stairway
They're still very pretty ladies. 😉
♥️ ❤️ 💜 🇺🇸 🍁 🇺🇸 candle
Skull rings?😔
Man I’ve always respected Heart. Such pioneers of their niche. But after watching them begrudge the “creative production elements “ of “the people” that asked them do certain things. It’s right on trend with the entertainment industry elite. Victimization of their own innocence and shaming the very people that put them in the spotlight. I wish people would just own it. We liked Heart and fell in love with their product because of the way they were presented. Not because of some imaginary and sanctimonious version of the way things “could…should “ have gone. How annoying.. wealthy beyond their wildest dreams and branded as classics in their own right. Yet we tune into this interview to hear them complain. I guess you should never meet your heroes…
People learn. People grow. New context. New perspectives. I let them grow. Why don’t you?
I wish they had not!
Really? Have you heard it? It's been online since 2012.
Kennedy Center Honors.
Look up the Led Zeppelin portion.
It is nothing short of brilliant.
They killed it, what are you talking about? 😅
U MUST BE A STONES FAN...
