- This is the top 10 coverage from the Vans Venice Street Grind contest held on 8/27/1995. Eric Koston takes 1st place followed by Willy Santos. Funniest comment is hear the commentator say Danny Way's skating being refered as a "small miracle given his past injuries"... and this was in 95! What would it be refered to as today?

1995.. just out of the US Navy after almost ten years in. Watching this compared to skating from that ten year difference sure is a helluva difference!

Willy made it in the top 3 with 6 kickflips and 9 nosegrinds.

No one listens when I say this, but, Danny Way is the GOAT. He is by far the best at the combination of street, vert and big ramp. No one besides Rodney Mullen has made such and impact and I only give it to Danny due to his versatility.

@SheepDogSkates I totally agree with you man its true. I laugh at all the kids who wear Element and Zoo York around and don't have a clue of its roots. (And those are still NEW companies to me!) In fact the same jerks who made fun of those clothes when I was in high school 11-15 years ago all wear them now along with their DC shoes. The good thing I see happening is that skating is at least more acceptable today, and kids are doing some totally amazing stuff I would never have imagined!
Mid 90's , just after skateboards of all price ranges were made out of glued together junk with 40 grit sandpaper glued on top.

@@Lilbroda 😂😂 in Dan's defense the video crew that doesn't know skateboarding should have clipped that manual I'm sure all his other tricks were great
