It will be fine. Itll be like wuthering waves of genshin with ffxiv coat of paint. There might even be a pc version -of- the mobile version. Im thinking people have never played games like those so they dont see how ffxiv could fit. Well for starters there probably wont be hotbars, probably just tap screen to attack. Hold on character to do a defensive. There might be 1-5 discrete buttons that use an ultimate etc. Also, just because something is a certain way in the current pc/ps5/xbox version does not mean it has to be that way in the mobile. For example, they might make leves more useful and valuable and make them accumulate slower. Or, they might condense crafting into one system/job, etc. Might do job switching in combat instead of switching characters like those other games. Switch to whm to heal, switch to pld to take a big attack, switch to mnk to do a lot of damage, etc. This isnt for people who already play the game on big rigs.
I appreciate this more grounded take. I've played mobile and PC games (Eve Echoes, Love Nikki, Arknights... and FF14 among other PC games)... and I can totally see this working. Who is this made for? Is there a population of people, interested in FF14, an 11 year old game, who aren't already playing it, and who dont have a computer to play the already free trial which includes everything this mobile offers and more, but DOES have a phone? I can't see how this makes sense, if someone wanted to play ARR again, they would create an alt or free account, so what exactly does "A Realm Reborn; Reborn again on Mobile!" bring to the table, other than the hilarious prospect of someone arrested for trying to Raid and Drive at the same time. I mean, I hope this is cool, I just don't understand why its worth anyone's effort to create in the first place.
@@ventusvero4484 mobile gaming is huge in Asia. The intended audience is them. Most people also don’t have the comforts we have (ie, PCs and consoles). Mobile is the easiest way to experience the game too. Widen your perspective. Not all games need to be directed to western audiences.
@@Jemma-u1o Maybe. This could be a China thing (its releasing there first, and is the biggest mobile gaming market). However, as I stated, this is a pretty specific target of non-PC having Asians. Also note that while the US is the largets PC gaming market, number 2, 3, and 4 are China, Japan, and South Korea, so its not like there aren't PCs (China and US are almost equal at 46/44 billion in revenue). So I dont think my perspective is skewed here Mr. "Asians dont have PCs". Also, why do you claim Mobile is the 'easiest way to experience the game"? That just your opinion of an App no one has seen?
There's far more people who only play mobile games than people who play games on PC so this is just them tapping into the biggest gaming audience on the planet. Do some research, kid
@@ventusvero4484 I'm Asian and we were required to buy a laptop for school. Most of my friends play Valorant, LoL, and CoD so we definitely do have PCs. That said, I can't speak for the poorer Asian countries, but from my interactions with some of them online, it seems like PCs are a huge thing there too. Hopefully this game doesn't flop. I'll certainly give it a try when it launches but from what I see on Reddit, RUclips, and Discord, it doesn't seem like most players would try it out.
SE is going to ruin this, and by extension, the main game. This is their last big cash cow and they're going to kill it, and SE is going to get bought out. They couldn't just not be greedy.
Apparently financing and supervising this is easier then implementing hats. Fascinating what happens when something becomes too popular. With that in mind, can't wait for the ''Mogstation-Collab-Event'' - will be interesting to see if you will be positive about that.
It actually is easier than implementing 99% of the things people ask because the codebase is a disjointed mess and it would take years to rebuild it. As for hats, some autistic suit somewhere at SE is just hyperfixated on the absolutely stupid earsocks that ruin most headwear for Elezen, Lalafell and Miqo'te, and absolutely refuses to let ears clip. Au Ra only got away with horn clipping because they had enough standards to not disable headwear on them at the time and making horn socks didn't work for helmets and was too much work for hoods and hats. By Shadowbringers they had no shame. But hey maybe in 4.0 of the mobile version they'll add them due to the lack of direct control from whoever is being stupid at SE.

Cant believe they did this crap instead of FFXI Mobile. My only hopes after watching this is that they try to bring back true MMO elements to the main game and filter their basic simps into this mobile game.
@ U dont do a mobile version for a story. You do it for the Pay2Win . FFXI is a hardcore low end old school MMO ( With one hell of a story also) That with a mobile remastered version would get one hell of a big audience looking for true MMO elements. Which are practically dead in FFXIV and many other MMOs. Specially now with the Korean MMO coming in with only p2w stuff. Only reason people dont play more in XI private server is because is not accessible enough if ur not PC Savvy to run the true old school ffxi . The current ffxi with the NPC party system can stay dead. So now we will get a Re telling of ffxiv , with p2w aspect because Mobile games dont run in a subscription based. And milk a not so long ago told story yet again. No one asked for this, nor wants this.
I can't wait to see people do Ultimates and savages on a damn iphone... like HOW are you going to see anything on sich a small screen?? Surely they can't mean to let phone players do raids...? Will it crossplay?? I kinda hope not.
If they planned for any sort of crossplay at launch, I have to assume it would have been mentioned with the announcement. In many ways this mobile version seems to be operating like the stand-alone Chinese/Korean clients, which are silo'd off from the main branch of the game and do not provide crossplay with any other versions. That being said, who could say what is in the cards a few years down the line?
I'm 95% sure it will not have crossplay. My understanding from the trailer is that Lightspeed is rebuilding the game on a mobile engine and recreating the story. So they are likely rebuilding the game from the ground up but using ARR as a template. They can probably fix a lot of the spaghetti code and do things in a more modern way.
Oh god, are they going to remove ARR from the actual MMO to speed up the leveling/MSQ crawl for new players? I can't see any other reason to recreate the base game for mobile.
mobile games are big in asian counties, but not much in western countries. so this might be a failure, but i hope for SE its a success, because SE can't afford more failures.
Realistically I think it's a very safe bet in east Asia. It's only in the west that it may not succeed, meanwhile in the east it stands to reach a massive mobile gaming market. People who ride trains for a few hours per day freaking love deep mobile games like this.
To quote Blizzard, "Don't you own a phone?" Everyone excusing no hats or long hair and such by saying they are cash strapped is brainwashed. They have tons of cash, they just keep using it to try for other cash grabs (which almost always fail) instead of improving the base game which might actually have a better ROI as people stick around longer.
Funny how so many ignorant clowns in the comments don't pay attention. It will be worked on by their "sister" company, Lightspeed Studios. People just wanna be mad for no dam reason.

That explains why they are making so many move/skill changes. they are trying to make FFXIV so easy, you just have to tap to play, which will make it more easy to play for mobile. I think these changes have sucked however, because I really liked the challenge of FFXIV and now it's like babytown frolics (hello astro anyone?). plus I can't imagine trying to play on a 4 inch or whatever screen. horrible move in my opinion, this might kill the game

@@Jemma-u1oI think you need to widen your perspective. We certainly do have PCs.
Just give up on the hat thing already....if they are going to add it they will add it just focus on some thing else instead
The crying about hats are getting old at this point… Play a race that can wear them then. My viera doesn’t care about it.
@@pudding-c5i then we’ll be sure to tell you that your concerns about the game don’t matter when they are also swept aside for money over quality
@@jslaughter95 I love the game as it is 🥰
You ppl... telling everyone arr is the worst Part and you need to Grind through it to get to the good stuff are now wanting a classic arr... just fk off
It's TenCent. It will be gatcha trash. As if FFXIV is not already in steady decline, they pull this.
I cant wait to spend $300 to try and pull the Limited Time 5* Summer Sunset Y'shtola from the event banner
This is making me want to unsub/uninstall. I am getting fed up with the direction of this game.
Meoni better find a new game or he may have to go out and get a real job...this game is 100 percent trending the wrong way to keep/intice players.
legitimately why do you care about a separate game client developed by a separate studio that isn't even part of square enix and which doesn't affect the main ffxiv at all. they're not even connected other than that they're the same IP
if this is what makes you quit, then you were already planning to quit
@@Zakjuh lol, you go hire someone to work on your house with absolute zero input and feedback from you. No opening doors, no payment, if they screw up, you are forced to accept it. Tell me how that turns out.
Cant believe they did this crap instead of FFXI Mobile. My only hopes after watching this is that they try to bring back true MMO elements to the main game and filter their basic simps into this mobile game.
The selling stronger point for XIV is their Story. I do not know now the F XI. but XVI is more popular then the Hardcore FFXI Version, i think.
@@xSoySaucex Well, you got an good point
I can't wait to see people do Ultimates and savages on a damn iphone... like HOW are you going to see anything on sich a small screen?? Surely they can't mean to let phone players do raids...?
Will it crossplay?? I kinda hope not.
From the look of the trailer, they totally have new skills at low level. So I think this will be a standalone platform with it own mechanics.
Maybe then they can use this as a base line for fixing the engine and coding in the main game on pc.
iPad boy
Oh god, are they going to remove ARR from the actual MMO to speed up the leveling/MSQ crawl for new players? I can't see any other reason to recreate the base game for mobile.
What? Dont you have phones? >;D
Unless I'm able to sync progress to my main character, I doubt I'll touch this.
lol 10 million Gil days they do it just like they did the PS accounts needing a completely separate game key to play on PC or vice versa
Warrior of MOBILE , let’s goooo ❤
mobile games are big in asian counties, but not much in western countries. so this might be a failure, but i hope for SE its a success, because SE can't afford more failures.
Realistically I think it's a very safe bet in east Asia. It's only in the west that it may not succeed, meanwhile in the east it stands to reach a massive mobile gaming market.
People who ride trains for a few hours per day freaking love deep mobile games like this.
That's just false, mobile gaming is huge in every country and is the biggest revenue source for the gaming industry.
Ffxiv gacha here we come
They are focusing all their dev time in the COMPLETELY wrong areas. None of us asked for this….
facts, as if FFXIV for PC & console wasnt already in a very questionable place.
To quote Blizzard, "Don't you own a phone?"
Everyone excusing no hats or long hair and such by saying they are cash strapped is brainwashed. They have tons of cash, they just keep using it to try for other cash grabs (which almost always fail) instead of improving the base game which might actually have a better ROI as people stick around longer.
Its not being devved by them though? Its being done by lightspeed
Classic xiv is actually insanely cool....
Its just asolutely trash its on mobile
@@RETROtheGAMER they don't care about the facts, they just want to be mad.
since its ARR do we get tp back that goes to zero if you sprint XD
bring back cross skills too
I didn't expect this and I feel conflicted.
Cancelling FFXI mobile and now this... ? My heart's bleeding 🥲
I do love XIV, but... what ?
I imagine it will be Modern 14 rather than the old arr style for getting jobs stuff and cross class.
it just needed to be a port thats linked.
but it could also work on its own, please dont cost more than £4.99pm
100% gonna be a gacha game.
This is giving final fantasy 14 to those who don't own the console or pc to really play it.That's nice, also I hope it's not a sub...
No. Just no. Play on my phone? WTF?
I mean who care, you still got the PC option. Just let SE milk their IP if they want to if they don't butcher the current one. xD
Why not? Some people do play games on their phone and even have separate phones just for that purpose.
Its not even the same company or the same game. Its an entirely seperate thing, its just officially licensed by Square Enix.
Bro I want a pc classic
No one is forcing you to play the mobile version lol
Funny how so many ignorant clowns in the comments don't pay attention. It will be worked on by their "sister" company, Lightspeed Studios. People just wanna be mad for no dam reason.
Faux outrage is the currency of the internet
FFXI deserved and needed this treatment so much more….
I'd rather get a FFXI Remaster proper.
As long as I dont have to play with mobile players on PC im cool with it, console players are bad enough as it is
When I saw the official trailer I thought this was a very very early april fools joke. Speacially because it ends with Minfilia calling you to return to the walking sands.
Unless its subscription-based i pass. Free to play on mobile means free to pay
Who is this for if not China? Goddamnit, Square.
Sad no Viera, but glory no fucking Hrogarth.
The game is already "tap to play" and the entire game is already available on mobile via the PS Remote play app and this is a different studio from CBU3 so no, job changes have nothing to do with this
Pay attention
Yet still no hats for Viera and Hrothgar.😢
FFXI mobile when?
Imagine if the mobile game has proper difficulty because they want to sell us crap. Hate how easy 90% of ffxiv is.
I will be so mad if they give phones a classic 14. I want a pc version of servers starting with ARR and moving forward
does anyone actually want this? it’s actually kind of concerning that they aren’t using these resources on something else. imagine all the time and money that could have been spent improving the game we already have
This is an entirely different studio from Square Enix and CBU3 so no resources were taken from FFXIV for this.
Pay attention
@@BaithNa money is resources like what they could've used that MONEY to improve the base mmo for pc/console
This entire game is already available on mobile via the PS Remote play app so this is a nothing story. They're just extending this privilege to non PS players but you have to start from scratch 😂😂😂
Now we know where all the Dawntrail dev time went.
I've noticed how they were cutting corners with this expansion a lot. This would explain it.
It's not being developed by any studio within Square Enix.
This is an entirely different studio from Square Enix and CBU3 so no DT dev time went into this.
We already know where that dev time went anyway, it went to FF16. That's why both DT and 16 feel half baked.
I'm not going to lie when he was reading the advertisement. I thought he was going to say "Make Eorzea a great again"
Although on the plus side that means I have a lala on the go
14 mobile huh? As long as it's its own separate thing it doesn't f****** the party finder even more
It's a separate client made by a studio not actually directly connected to Square Enix. It's just using the license.
You can already play the entire game on mobile via the PS Remote play app so how would this mess up party finder?
