You know what I've always felt is a missed opportunity in terms of rewards? Teleport animations. People teleport all the time! Why not create cool or whacky 5-second animations to override the standard teleport that you can unlock through treasure hunts or marks or the like?
there is a jp person that does insane animation over rides, everyone would be doing omega etc if they got that person to do all the alternate animations
This would be cool but let's not incentivize hunt trains and brain dead content any more. We need to encourage players to try harder stuff for better rewards.
@@krishnahemminger You're asking for the opposite then. While it's fine to have a bunch of rewards that don't require much besides grinding a bit of currency, it's very much worth having some of them in the mid to hard content as well. Done the right way, it's a great incentive to try out something new and maybe discover parts of the game that you really love. It just brings back the EW relic grind to me, which went from being a longer rewarding journey to feeling completely braindead and that's not even hard to do, just time consuming.
grabs a shovel and digs their way to the destination. holds their thumb up for a taxi. lifts an umbrella, preparing to float away. performs a ninjutsu, preparing a smoke bomb. activates a hidden control panel in a nearby unassuming rock, activating the lift. prepares a magic trick with their top hat. The memory of slowly fades away. gets beamed up.
Island Sanctuary had a lot of issues, but one thing I'll praise about is the amount of rewards it gave. Lots of glamour, mounts, minions, materia, hairstyles, etc. Hopefully Cosmic Exploration is as rewarding as that but actually fun to play.
@@captainziggy82 Where’s the troll? Island Sanctuary was dogshit to play but it had great rewards. Doesn’t seem like a crazy take. The motorcycle mounts, beachwear, and ponytail hairstyles were the only reason I slogged through it.
Old series rewards would be perfect as trophy crystal sinks. The people who originally got them would get them for cheap while new players can spend more for them
I still remember when they were first talking about the revamps to PvP and the addition of the Crystalline Conflict mode they talked about adding the old series rewards over time because they didnt want FFXIV to be a game of FOMO. Still waiting on that Square.
Need something to spend my maxed crystals on. And wolf marks 😅 been getting wolf collars to convert to marks to just get ventures. I need something new to spend on, and not clothing, my glamour dresser is full.
(edit: did you mean SEASON instead of series?) wym "The people who originally got them would get them for cheap" If I got the mount already, why do I need it again? MAYBE somebody deleted the glamour rewards, and wants to buy them again, but that's what the calamity salvager is for (if pvp rewards arent there already, just add them) I think I missed the point you were making here?
Meanwhile, in the "We'll add rewards for Trophy Crystals" 3 years later.... For the love of God please add something. A mount token system as well? SOMETHING?
Tbh we desperately need reusable things like dye and stuff as pvp rewards. I've been capped on crystals and have had nothing to spend it on for 2-3 straight seasons. Yeah we definitely need the older rewards added in, hopefully even the older rewards prior the pvp big change up as well, but we also need stuff to spend crystals on because you're locked out of collecting rewards if you're capped on crystals, it's so janky
Dyes are a great idea. Add the standard dyes at like 100 crystals, non-standard at 1000, metallic at 2500, pastels at 10,000, and maybe 100,000 for pure white/black (by purchasing 10x 10,000 crystal "dye vouchers" and trading them) Maybe let us by Bicolored gems with them too. Say 1000 crystals for 50 gems?
Dyes or heck. I'll even take current materia tier. Just give me something to spend my PvP crystals on 😢 Edit: turns out you can exchange wolf collars for marks albeit in a very walk back in forth between vendors kinda way cause when cap you gotta spend
@@agamingotaku1826you can, it’s just annoying. You can spend Crystals on Wolf Collars, trade Wolf Collars for wolf marks, and buy Materia with Wolf Marks. It’s just lots of running back and forth between the 3 vendors
15:22 I agree but I also think the tomestone cap should be lifted or at least increased when savage gets unlocked. All the gear that exists now and that the gear that comes out later this patch is gonna become inferior to normal mode and crafted gear outside the upcomming ultimate when 7.2 comes out so I don't really see much point in slowing down peoples gear progression so much at this point in the cycle.
Takes nearly 4 months to get a full set of quetzalli armor with the current heliometry tomestone cap... It truly sucks for players that still haven't caught up with the best gearsets, after realising how long it'll take for a SINGLE set is so discouraging
@@daedric-7898 But you're probably never wearing a full set or close to a full set. You're probably better off with multiple crafted pieces or normal raid pieces than unaugmented tomestone gear in every slot, so the time to gear a given job to "bis" excluding raid gear is much shorter than 4 months.
They will never ever do that. Like they will never remove weekly reward system. That way you need to extent your subscription. This whole game has been made for you to just keep paying out of the nose.
Can the devs bother to release the old PVP series rewards to buy for trophy crystals? I feel they have dropped the ball with PVP this patch by not including them despite updating PVP across the board.
The one I wasn't expecting to catch me was the glamour dresser change with the outfit glamour tab, while I don't have that many level 1 glamours I feel like the game will have me in a chokehold when the ability to add combat gear to outfit glamours becomes available since collecting full gear sets is something I've wanted to do for ages but always restricted by dresser size limits to do so fully.
Yea until you realize that they delete the dyes and the sets aren't dyable anymore, once you put them in the dresser. Shit system. Complete garbo. We need unlimited glamour plates for this to work properly, so people don't lose their dyes. Shit's expensive.
I have 200 plus achievement points with nothing to spent them on. I bought every item in that shop. They really should add more to it. I agree with savage lockout. Unlocking it now can help people who haven't cleared for what ever reason (be it time, luck, not having a static etc) as those who have cleared can help out without worrying if they will still get their clear or causing lost chests if they already clear.
But they added more to it. They also aren't going to add TOO much too it, it's not fun to have rewards that are just gatted behind an enormous amount of work. Same reason they stopped doing more login rewards.
They actually did just add more rewards to the achievement point shop. There’s a new emote, facewear, and I think a couple of orchestrion rolls. It’s not much, but it’s something. (Also don’t forget to grab the free fantasia from the nearby moogle while you’re there) Edit: It might be framer kits instead of orchestrions, idk
@Mordy. just add as much rewards equal to playing the game gets. All the achievements for doing msq, the dungeons, normal raid, 24mans, and the like. All the stuff casual players do.
Its even worse if you had veteran rewards from before the achievement certificates were implemented, because all the veteran rewards except the Cloud, Squall, Firion and Zidane outfits make up the bulk of the rewards for certificates and the veteran rewards are account wide meaning you have even less to spend them on
Idk, I think MMOs benefit from timed events too. It makes the world feel more real. Not everything IRL can be obtained indefinitely. Sometimes you just miss out
they originally stated previous season rewards would be available in the future and most people assumed it would simply cost crystals if you missed them.
They mentioned in the recent patch they will release previous PvP rewards on a later patch with a new currency they’ll add, I don’t believe it will be crystals.
Fomo, like pvp rewards, where items and rewards are permanently gone, feels very out of place for this game. Even old feast rewards should come back, albeit maybe as a ranked reward. Scratch that last part. A wolf collar reward is more than enough.
Outfit glamours in particular has me really hopeful. If they expand that system to more than just level 1 glam sets, that alone would rejuvenate practically every piece of content in the game. Everyone jokes about glam being the true endgame for a reason, so being able to properly collect hundreds of full sets without having to worry nearly as much about inventory space would give people so much reason to go out and farm everything they could possibly want.
The PvP rewards issue is definitely a problem. Don't say you don't want too much fomo and then make it seem like PvP rewards are all based around fomo.
Personally to resolve the rewards they also need to look at the schedule. For those who do not do savage and prefer more casual stuff the 7.1 patch is dire. I dont understand why they added the chaotic alliance raid in this patch given that raiders are also getting ultimate. Don't misunderstand me, I am thankfull they are adding it, but id have prefered them to add the relic grind or the larger exploration content and saved the alliance raid or the ultimate for later in the series. Essentially i feel the balance of content in the patch cycle is off and heavily skewed towards raiders who represent a smaller percentage of the community. I get theres MSQ and normal alliance raid, and society quests but these arent a lot of content for 4 months.
It’s a weekly lock, like normal raids, except there are no accessories and bc only the norma raid gear gets uogrades, you have to use it to upgrade two separate roles simultaneously or else you might as well not worry about getting the ar gear at all.
@ the more I think about this topic, the more I kind of notice how the normal vs alliance raid rewards are kind of unbalanced. hat, gloves, and foot slots basically all cost more in alliance raids and they don’t provide accessories, and none of it is upgradeable. i guess it’s like a time period for comparatively casual players to catch up to hardcore raiders, but with tome gear getting upgraded at the same time… I dunno
@NajaSide problem is the catch up aspect. It kinda kills any need to do certain content. But also how new content is ilvled means its kinda pointless getting new gear. Honestly just enjoy the story if your a casual and sign off the gear grind is not designed for casual players
Dude the fact that Jonathas the achievement vendor doesn't have like.... Im serious like TWO HUNDRED more items than he does now is incredibly stupid and seems short sighted. Only a turbo diehard nolifer like Asmongold should EVER have everything from an achievement vendor. I actually can't belive the almost insulting drip feed that they barely add there. My main has so many useless achievement tokens.
And yet the MOG STATION sure has plenty of new item support every patch!!! Even though we are already paying them every month to access achievements! Let us buy old mogststion emoted for 10 achievement points! No way that square is still making significant revinue on like... /dote or /eategg or whatever
It's not really that hard to get enough achievement tokens for everything for Jonathas? I got mine fairly casually just doing every dungeon/normal raid/alliance raid at least once, and at least attempting most EXs and relic weapons. Hell, just going through MSQ or doing the holiday quests gives you lots of achievements. The game really will throw achievement points at you for at least trying out systems and content, even if you don't uber grind them. But I agree, they really need to update his inventory more frequently. Even during Shadowbringers, he basically had the same items since they implemented it, which is silly.
"More of the same" really is the quintessential issue FFXIV is facing. SE misunderstood "we want more", which is a thoughtless, raw feedback based on a real impression of something lacking ; it's common to believe that consumers best know what to improve but are the worst when it comes to actually decide HOW to improve it. If Ford had asked his clients, he would probably still be selling horses ! First, SE must understand that they NEED to have a target when they release something. Sanctuary Island and Savage Criterion had no target audience or it was such a vague concept for them that they didn't pay it much attention. Consequence ? SI is boring for most people up until it becomes a chore ; for others, it's a chill environment that turns into a non content... Same for Criterion : experienced players aren't interested and less experienced ones are overwhelmed ; the absence of rewards also bothers the curious ones that would be ready to suffer through it. It's designed for virtually no one. Thankfully, Chaotic seems to have a clearer target especially since it encourages players to tag into a time frame. The actual content still feel like the same thing as Extreme / Savage with another number of players, which is a bad idea, yet at least it is aimed at people who may not be able to play the other PvE contents. It proves that rewards are essentially incentives and other design can have the same effect. The main issue however is when the content in itself is not interesting because it doesn't offer anything new. There lies my main complaint : if they really want more people to play the actual game, they absolutely need to create entropic contents. They need to include more randomness than "either mechanic A or mechanic B", "either go here or there" and such. It's nice for some contents, having a script is great for Savage and Ultimate, but it's underwhelming for other contents that eventually look like a snore, if not a chore. Not having to prepare yourself (i.e. learning a strat) would be a HUGE encouragement to many casual who'd just have to learn basics and be reactive (which comes with practice) rather than learn 1 specific way to solve each mechanic. Entropic contents would also make many things much less boring like deep dungeon ; allowing players to empower their actions throughout a run would make it feel much less soporific because the actual pace in there is like 20 hours for a few minutes of actual gameplay and the rest is all about not committing when it can be deadly, which is about the same as avoiding risks by being careful not to actually play into a trap. Building up our skillset would be the reward itself, offering a much greater replayability. Aside from gameplay-affected rewards, many of the ones we're being given are actually "goodies". It's... Nice but very neglectible. Taking the rewards from FATEs for instance, it doesn't add anything to the game and simply encourages to keep doing what a bot could very well handled in our place. There isn't much gameplay involved even though it's a great way to level up some jobs (more than being sync'd down, which prevents using our actual skillset) .
Lets revisit this in 8.0. when everything will still be the same as it is now.. Also we have an issue of having to trawl through 6 expansions worth of unrewarded content 😂. I think the game would be better off calling it quits and starting a new MMo
@@leighg9o Do remember that closing a service (whether it be an MMO or a gacha) kinda destroys all the rewards given throughout the years of existence. It can be an extremely painful ending that would definitely break some people's trust in the license because it's perceived as a back stab. But yeah, somehow "transferring" some rewards that were very hard/tiring to acquire or commemoration ones would be a way to try to make up for this. I simply don't know whether they can build something bigger AND actually become innovative. Be careful about your wishes ; they may get fulfilled in the worst way and you'd hate FFXIV being deserted while its substitute completely misses its audience.
Rewards aren't the real issue. Stuff should be fun enough that you want to do it regardless of rewards. If you need rewards to motivate you I think that speaks to how dull or tedious the content is. Too many times I hear people complaining about grinding out some achievement or whatever to get a title or glam piece. The core problem there is people doing content they don't enjoy for a reward they feel they need or want. Ideally you should only do the content you find fun and not feel pressured to do stuff you don't enjoy for some reward.
Genuinely the smartest comment under this video. If you aren't enjoying what you're doing in the first place, then maybe it's time to appreciate it just for what it is, or move on from that content or even the game entirely
I wish I could like this more than once. I appreciate FFXIV because of the content and not doling out rewards like an inferior gacha game. The best moments are doing content in a community.
As a mount collector, I dabble in pretty much all types of content where there's a mount reward, and I'll do that type of content until I get the mount. Unfortunately not all content is rewarding enough to keep doing it, for instance I don't give an F about Orchestrion Rolls or Triple Triad cards, so I don't go for those types of rewards, since they're not appealing to me.
Additional Framer's kit on ShB and EW PLUS achievements and Khloe's silver certificates feels so great to see motivations to do old regional FATE stuff even if it asks for Shared FATE 3 on all maps of all the maps of the expansions. And I have an odd feeling that people might want to get the Eulmoran Comfort framer's kit
Personally, I don't like the orchestrion tokens, because rnjesus hates me. The only time I win something is when most everyone else doesn't want it anymore. With the number of possible orchestrion rolls, that means that I'm never going to get even one of them.
It's got it's upside and downside for sure. In old system, you could theoretically have 3 different orchestrions drop, only need the 1, but then you might be rolling against 23 other people. With the new system, you've at least got 3 chances against 23 other people to get that maybe 1 orchestrion you needed. Really, it just ends up being more odds of getting at least 1 reward vs. potential low odds of getting 1 reward. I think they kind of had to do it this way anyways, because otherwise you get 3 orchestrion to drop at the end, but there's 10+ songs so you could run a 30 min alliance raid 5 times and not even see the one you want drop, much less win the roll against others.
I agree on a lot of points here, but one that I chafe against is 735 Chaotic set. It's inevitable that Ultimate gets power crept, of course, but as someone whose schedule doesn't allow for long raid days to clear within the first month, I'd rather Ultimate not be power crept on patch at the very least. Plus, I feel one of the best parts about Ultimate is gearing isn't part of the process. For a lot of groups, new bis dropping a month after Ultimate launch would mean progging and farming other content mid prog. I understand using the gear is optional, I'd just rather not have the option while the content is current than have to wonder if I'm throwing by not using the gear after a 5% wipe. Maybe a solution would be for Chaotic to launch with Savage equivalent gear on odd patch, no lockout. You would have a couple weeks to prep whatever other jobs you need, and people who don't prog Ultimate have something to farm.
It's a shame they didn't add a vendor that uses trophy crystals for old season/series rewards. Perhaps we shall see that before expansion's end. They did do a good job spreading the rewards about the game and perhaps in the future they can also update the achievement tab to have player stats such as gil spent life time, Time played, Most ran dungeon to least ran, and what I'd want is dungeons counter. Right now, Lifer 3 is 10k once you get that achievement you can no longer track unless you count after that point. Would be a nice addition to add an in game tracker.
You wanna talk about rewards? How about the (hint hint) Past Victory Prizes, huh?! WHEN THE HELL ARE WE GETTING THE PREVIOUS PVP REWARDS, DEVS? Also, wouldn't it be grand if they had a system in place that incentivized players to keep their SUB by REWARDing for continuous play? Oh, wait... THEY DID! #BringBackSubRewards
Yea i hope were getting past feast mounts and armors. For the armors atleast remove the dye option for the rereleased sets and add it for the old sets. I know it sounds bad but those who earned the old sets deserve to stand out still and not have their achievement invalidated
It's a way to give crafters something unique to offer the community/market, as well as a way to create continuing usefulness and value to older expansion materials, purple crafter/gatherer scrips, old gathering nodes, and farming the fights for the special material drops/desynths. It's WAY way cheaper to just craft them yourself than to buy them, so it's a nice reward for putting effect into leveling your DoH jobs. All around its a pretty creative option i think.
I’m still bored of the game in terms of rewards lol. I hope Criterion will have good stuff worth doing for. Mindless grind isn’t very fun. I’m savage BiS already, I just feel like there’s still nothing really worth my time to do. I think the gathering mount tokens lose value for me putting my time into it because last I checked, you can just buy the tokens on the marketboard from other players. Yeah they’re super expensive but Gil isn’t an issue for me in game anymore either.
I'd really like the normal (not chaotic) alliance raid gear to be 5 iLvls higher than usual, so they offer any sort of value when the raid releases. Tome gear cost should be slashed in half to make people play more jobs, uncap tomes after the savage tier has become old. Ex trial weapons should require 3 totems instead of 10, mounts should require 50 instead of 99. We need more sources of rewards instead of making them more tedious to get. Some of the ideas they had for this patch were pretty good, they should experiment some more and see what is popular and what is not. More content variety for all difficulties, normal/extreme/savage/ultimate, especially the extreme difficulty since that would probably attract the most players, due to it being slightly more engaging than normal but not as punishing as savage. And I am not only talking about extreme trials, release different content types with the same difficulty.
They should have Criterion dungeons be involved in the alt-gearing system for players to catch up on gearing without worrying about savage. It’s smaller 4 player content which should be MUCH easier for players to schedule and complete on a more regular basis
6 and 8 savage books for pants/chest/weapon is still crazy to me. They could simply be 4 for chest and pants and 6 for weapon. And give the fucking mount on first clear. It's a nice reward to have it signified you cleared the tier. Instead of the constant grinding even for the mount.
Fun fact, I have cleared many times and never gotten the weapon (or coffers) so I had to use all my books to gear up my main class. I still don't have the weapon because conversion
a massive flaw is the fact a relic grind/eureka/time killer still isn't available! I dont wanna do a bunch of little things to fill my time, i want to log in, zone out and let my muscle memory take over as I work towards something thats awesome and far far far away, something that'll break most casual players and after all my wasted time I acquire something sorta rare, that when players see it they know that "yeah, yeah that dude deserves that."
@@cloudzack1090 if yall wont use your voice yea it wont happen, they need to hear the actual criticisms not the weirdo echo chaimber about wuk lamat or butt sliders
I am pretty pleased with what we saw so far compared to EW rewards. The Chaotic formula also seems promising on paper, we'll see next month. Now if they keep at it, have actual gear and other stuff for criterion and nail the exploration zone + cosmic exploration we're eating good. The only issue remains that they really need to fix is how early we get to those endgame midcore grinds... Up until X.25 the patches still feel empty even with the "new" rewards, so a start for those grinds in .15 would be huge!
I am SOOOOO happy that I didnt buy my Rroneek yet... I wanted to have it and I was around 90 tokens... But I do prefer the Barreltender over the Rroneek
TBH frivolous rewards at level 100 really doesn't do much besides checking a list. Oh great, another mount I will never use, oh nice some music I listened to and liked the first time then promptly muted the game again, oh great another TT card I wont use because I set my deck 2 years ago and it still works fine, oh yay glam I don't have space for because this games inventory/glam system is absolute ass+++ At this point they need to start actually re-doing their gearing system, remove a lot of their stupid time gating and start fixing some long-term issues instead of tiny band-aids for me to actually give a shit about any rewards at this level.
I just really need them to stop locking everything in a treasure map dungeon. I was so excited about the new glam/joke weapons hoping thst maybe finally I would have smth to spend my mgp, trophy crystals, or wolf marks on. But no. More treasure maps. They can be a lot of fun but when EVERYTHING feels locked behind them it starts to feel mandatory and a lot less appealing
I really don't understand what you mean by EVERYTHING being locked behind maps. It's not that much. Just run some maps. Or earn money and buy rewards with gil.
I disagree on chaotic giving 735 gear, because that makes savage beyond a first clear to unclear ultimate completely pointless. You'd kill savage just to have chaotic feel more rewarding and I don't think that's good for the health of the game.
Savage content are expected to be cleared in the patch they were released, the .1, .3, and .5 series of a patch is supposed to be the catch up patch for those who don't do savage. Savage right now is irrelevant with the release of the 24 man raid. The only thing savage still has over the rest of the battle content is BiS and the weapon. Other than that, what? it gives a mount and that is it. Chaotic is more rewarding sure
Are you new to ffxiv because this literally happened in the previous expac and the one before it they did add few stuff to the achivment vendor and new mgp items, "new rewards" no it's not stop with the click bait and find better content to talk about.
A couple changes I would like to see: Tomestones should be uncapped (or at least significantly increased cap) the first major patch after a new one is introduced. Meaning in 7.1 Heliometry should be uncapped. This helps people who need to catch up or want to gear alt jobs. Alliance raid gear drops should not have a weekly lockout. This makes no sense. The gear is the same ilvl as tomestone gear and can't even be upgraded. It's basically just there for galmour so let people grind it if they want. SE can keep the lockout on the coin if they really want to still gate progression, but the gear drops should be grindable.
I would add to this... the tomestone weapon now that we have 21 jobs, should require only the item you get from savage/multiple weekly clears of normal it doesn't make sense to gatekeep gear so that it takes 4 months for a casual player to gear up only one job. in a game where one of the draws is that you can play every job on one character, this kind of falls apart when it comes to not being able to get the item level to actually play all those jobs they also could uncap normal mode of the 8-man raid in advance of the odd numbered patches so people can catch up before the patches drop
This may be too much, but they should add OLD glam sets from previous events to the achievement token list. Potentially things like the very first glam sets from the mogstation. The cascadier swim sets, maybe the old collab gears like FFXIII gear, just to make things more apealling and may not be selling on the official store anymore.
the only pvp reward i want, is STORMBLOOD 1-100 RANK FEAST SET. But something telling me this thing will never be accessible again, as well as Inferno jacket (this one, i didn't miss atleast)
As an ultimate raider idk how I’d feel about being basically forced to to the chaotic alliance raid to get bis, mainly because we don’t know if people will want to do it. If it will be accessible to be a part of considering how many people it requires. It’d be a premature change until we see how it’ll pan out. Having to dosage makes sense but having to do something extra on top of that seems like a lot. (I plan on doing it anyway for fun)
Did the hall of the novice trials for the first time this morning and I'm honestly surprised the newer, latter half wasn't something they taught till just this patch. And being someone who has about two-three years on the game now, it's still nowhere near as comprehensive with markers but I'm glad they got the common ones out of the way. You could say the community will teach you the rest for the most part, but it'd be nicer if another set could be made to streamline the transition form older content to Shadowbringers onwards - because the fights don't really start to weave mechanics together in ways that demand allot of thought till then, and I'm talking about MSQ dungeons/trials not savage/ultimate raids. When I got to the end of Stormblood the first time I saw the button prompt to mash and I think I've only ever had to do that once before somewhere in ARR, I literally used my mouse on the big button they put on the screen and only clicked on that like it was cookie clicker... and failed so many times making the party mad. It took me several times to figure out your intended to mash on your keyboard like your raging to have a chance at beating the meter drain. I'm sure there are several other instances of key things that aren't taught by the game and it'd be way easier to onboard people to content if it wasn't the case - because if you don't get how important niches things like arms length being a viable mitigating in large packs your going to suffer when the game does start caring about what your doing.
I know this is all about rewards an might be considered off topic but, still no word on beast master an i feel extremely cheated an lied too about this considering it was announced at launch with this expansion :(
I love the joke weapons because they made the price of br'aaxskin maps skyrocket and now i can gather 1 per day, sell it for around 150k and then buy 3 gazelleskin maps to work towards the thief map titles.
They can't even figure out that shared fates suck, if all you want is mount tokens. A couple thousand gems wasted because the gem cap exists and you can't even buy the tokens until you 100% everything. Not to mention that if you're already max level on all jobs, your overall reward is lowered because 0 EXP. I'm surprised.
I don't think releasing new rewards to maps that have already been around for months is addressing the issue, just release them with the maps at the same time instead of waiting until everybody already has their 20 clears and doesn't want to go back. They did the same shit with adding mounts to maps months after release in EW too for no reason, it was annoying then and it's still annoying now. We also have the Fate and Scrip mounts that are both so unbelievably boring to grind that you're better off letting the bots do it and just buying it. PvP rewards are still tragic, there's thousands of hours and thousands of wins required for the insufferable achievements there, yet there's nothing to spend Wolf Marks or Trophy Crystals on after you've played it casually for just a week. I'm tired of turning Wolf Marks into HW gear just so I can hand it in for slightly less useless GC seals to feel like I'm not completely wasting my "rewards". If another patch rolls around and there are still 0 desirable marketable items at PvP vendors then I have no idea what purpose it even serves, it's certainly not for fun considering I'd rather spend a month in solitary confinement than play Frontline for a day.
7.1 has filled me with hope for the first time in a while. I love filling out the Crafting/Gathering logs, and for a while they would award glowy tools for doing just that. Then in Shadowbringers, they removed the Crafter achievements for it and added those tools to a new one-time system. Then in Endwalker, they completely gutted the glowy tool rewards and instead gave a title for the 3 gatherers. Just a major slap in the face for fishers who already fill out the Big Fish logs and have rare titles from that. I would love nothing more than to have unique glowy tools again at the end of Dawntrail. Maybe even a unique mount for each Crafter/Gatherer! Also YES, where are the past PvP Series rewards?? At this point they are showing us to expect years before obtaining them again which is still FOMO. This is highly unlikely, but it would be amazing if they added the old Ranked rewards to a vendor as well. Have it require x amount of Tokens like those Orange Scrip Mount Tokens. Then have each token cost a large amount of Trophy Crystals so it is still a dedicated grind to achieve. Plus, it'll finally give something to spend that currency on lol.
I had been complaining that it definitely felt like we have 0% more rewards... but I do think you're right that there are indeed more rewards but I do think that there is still an issue when it comes to gear rewards. We're on the exact same gear progression we've been on since Stormblood. And looking at it as someone who isn't playing savage at the moment, being able to get enough gear to even be able to play content on more than one job/class is incredibly difficult. They don't even need to make drastic changes here to improve things... they can remove some of these lockouts earlier. let us farm the normal mode 8-man raid for gear before the even number patch comes out, let people farm the 24 man raid for upgrades and drops before the next odd numbered patch comes out too. Basically let people who want to change roles have at least that level gear as a baseline and prepare for it ahead of time. additionally make the cost of a tomestone weapon ONLY the tomestone you get either from savage or from multiple weeks of normal mode clears. with 21 jobs now in the game, requiring that you not only have that item but also tomestones to purchase a weapon hinders progress toward being able to play multiple jobs. additionally I think they really need to stop holding off the relic weapon as an option for content until half way through the post expansion patches. I get not launching it right at the start of the expansion, but it really should be ready to go to start progress by the X.1 or X.15 patch
The number one thing I want is some sort of continued/not a once and done incentive to go back and reduce old content queue times. I like doing old content and am currently trying to bring a friend who never unlocked Bozja through the Stormblood alliance raids and its taking about 90 mins per queue, on saturday evenings. So much content in this game sits stagnant once its a couple years out. The best way to fix this imo is to buff non-leveling roulette. I'm not sure the best way to do it, maybe dropping some sort of unique currency for cosmetics once a day. I'd even just take like "once a day a random roulette gives 5 mog tomes" or each gives 1 or something like that. Easy to implement but would do a better job incentivizing roulettes.
It's a well studied phenomenon that tying extrinsic rewards to activities creates a dependence on those rewards for continued fun. If the rewards go away, an activity that may have previously been seen as fun on it's own now becomes unfun without the rewards. This is to say, I think, if you want people to start having fun, I don't think adding MORE extrinsic rewards is the solution. There will always be an end to the rewards that people are interested in (not to mention the point that the more knick knacks and bits and bobs in the game that there are, the more diluted the value of each one becomes), and then they will not be having fun anymore. Instead, I think games need to start helping players find and enjoy intrinsic fun in evergreen activities.
The achievement system is just sitting there, totally under-utilized. But I'm sure there's some lame or unknown spaghetti code reason why they've chosen to ignore it. To be honest, my boredom in Endwalker has carried over into Dawntrail flawlessly. Maybe it's time to change how they release content. I feel like I am not missing anything when I unsubscribe between big patches.
Even though I generally don't need flashy rewards to try out content it still affects me when no one around me is interested in running it. I really wanted to spend more time in the Criterion dungeons but there was so much lack of interest from most people I talk to regularly that I didn't even try to form groups for them.
Given the release date of the chaotic raid, it should not be 735 simply because the ultimate comes out 1 month prior to it and its balanced around savage bis for dps checks. If anything, it will be 730 with better substats for some pieces of some roles (i.e. healers getting not awful pentamelded crafted glove pieces) which is good enough of an incentive if you want *actual* bis
Seeing that tattered sheet music in the first alliance raid had me so confused for a half second, and then I was fairly happy with the change, they should do it to every expansion imo it'd be a massive qol change and would help people who are struggling getting that one last music roll from older content
Being a player who has played on and off over multiple years, I'd like to see older content such as Allied Society quests be revamped so they feel less grindy. Earning rewards should generally be a fun and enjoyable process; not everyone enjoys the time-gate and monotonous grind.
On a break from FFXIV for a bit after sinking 10k hours in around 2 years, but honestly I'm glad they are finally addressing these type of things. Good job square, keep it up.
hey Mrhappy, been watching you since i was looking for a guide for shiva EX back in the 2.x days. The thing that kills me in this game is the day i realized that all of the gearing in FFXIV is time gated via tombs or number of drops. It took something like 7 weeks to gear my RPR in endwalker(launch), and i really wanted to gear another job, all the jobs even, but with how many jobs there are that would take over a year. The next expansion would be out... so why log in every single week to do my roulettes and some raids or w/e when i could honestly make just as much progress gearing up my jobs by just waiting till dawnbreaker. (I never did come back). I want to come back though. its just as it is dawnbreaker offers me no way to just sink my teeth into content and slowly gear up. I get the feeling I'm not really the target audience of this game anymore. I dont really care about glams or pets or any of that. I want to see numbers go up and feel like my time and effort helps my team do the stuff they want to do easier.
I like to bring up the problem that WoW has faces for many years already: Mount fatigue If people already have dozens of mounts and can only ever use one at a time, then more mounts are not going to be that interesting and certainly wont lure people who unsubscribed back to the game. Same can be said for Music Sheets because as long as you can only have 8 tracks in a Playlist and only one Playlist you either gotta keep cycling through them to actually hear them or they just become another +1 for your Achivement and thats that. While I havent bothered with Treasure Maps at least there is some sort of prestige with the Weapons for people who have them for how rare (or expensive) they are. At least Chaotic will bring in a new way to farm gear which the game desperately needed, though time will tell if its accesible enough for the average player or if its going to end up like Criterion and especially the Savage version where most are just not good enough to even attempt it or the PF scene dies out from a lack of participation. Now the big question of course is "What makes for a meaningful longterm reward" which I do not have the answer for, but just adding another Mount or even a housing item that only a small subsection of players who HAVE A HOUSE can actually use won't be enough to fix the longstanding Reward problem.
Dungeons with unique rewards should drop tokens per expac that you can farm to get dungeon-specific armor/minions similar to totems from extremes. Farming dungeons for a unique piece of gear is really annoying and this could help players farm more confidently.
@@oshiriaisn't there a guaranteed piece for the role you queued for after you cleared the dungeon? I'd swear that is a thing for non-current expansion dungeons. idk last time i did matoya's relict was hunting blu spells in 6.45.
They should change the fates in the over world to the battle missions from bozja. This would massively improve player engagement. There could be rewards and special titles from participating in them. Maybe there could be a special currency that could be used like the gemstones.
I was a bit sad to see people being pessimistic about the contest winner weapons coming from maps but I've legitimately never seen this kind of SURGE of people running them, Its been real fun and I think its a healthy and good thing for the game to for something like this to be from other content!
For the old Series rewards, just let us get the old tracks back (at least the ones we haven't completed) and let us choose if we want to work on a current or an incomplete past one. The other thing they need to do is bring in the old participation trophy PvP rewards and put those into the trophy crystal shop.
I hope the devs revisit Bozja soon, because right now it is functionally impossible to complete any of the Shadowbringers relics. Literally nobody is willing to do Delibrum Reginae now.
Did you notice that we got the Pelu Pelu society mount at rank 5 instead of later like they usually do? It makes me think they might do the same thing as with the Ananta in SB and add a second mount down the line.
I have issues logging in weekly because it is lonely. FC's are dead, and early friendly meetings like it was in ARR and HW are just a thing of the past. I miss the weekend grouping to go do things. It is so hard to find a static group to play with. Maybe because I am an older gamer and not very social? But I have found it really difficult to crack the ice with other players. I am currently on discord servers the balance and ffxiv for players over 30 years old and it does not seem to help with find friends or static groups to run continent with.
I honestly wish they would adopt a glamour system similar to WoW's. Once you collect a piece of gear and feed it into your collection it will forever be able to be used. They could 100% get rid of the armoire by doing this as everything in the armoire could just be added to the glamour collection
Thing is that they seem to want to cash in on FOMO and people no lifing the game when even the average Japanese gamer has more shit to do than just log into a game all day. They need to just fix the system and allow us to freely farm old glam and what not better. Not to mention, they should've been re-released old pvp gear and made the ARR stuff dyable. They want us to spend all this time playing the dang game but don't give us anything to do.
One thing I always figured would help the TT players would be for the trials that give tokens and whose cards are just RNG drops the ability to trade in some amount of tokens for the card like you can for mounts. I've watched people I know grind, say, Thordan EX for 200 fights and never see the card drop once, and then I join in for a couple of those runs and he gives it to me twice. Like, I can't trade this to my friend who needs it. All I can do is sell the extra for MGP. Making them tradeable also for the tokens would probably be a nice little quality of life change for the TT collectors.
Glowing weapon upgrades have my friends and I still doing one night a week in the aloalo criterion. I think the upgrade token is the right idea - maybe if they wanted to integrate a few systems, maybe the new figment weapons can be upgraded with a glow in 7.2’s criterion. I dunno, they said they’re working on better rewards for them so I hope they pull through.
Crazy idea, and inspired by unlocks in Destiny, but what if Savage unlocked with something being cleared in game. Like once world-first FRU is achieved Savage unlocks for everyone.
I like that savage stays locked for so long. The experience of weekly raiding to get gear isn't a bug. it's a feature. Taking that gameplay away half the time is just silly. Not everyone bothers with savage right away, and not everyone plays the game every day from the start of an expansion onward. It's a lot of fun to get gear knowing that it's not guaranteed. you've got more than enough time to get the gear you want. It's even helped a lot in the .1 patch by giving you an alternate way to get tomestone upgrade tokens.
Could have done undyable version as MGP, dyeable as treasure rewards, similar to the Garo stuff. I'll never mind them making treasure maps more valuable though
Treasure maps are just ass to solo , i did a few lvl80 maps for the last moogle event, and clearing one treasure dungeon took about 50 minutes because the bosses are just bullet sponges.
The map in question can be duo'd if not soloed on a BiS WAR. Takes time for sure, but these are accessible. And even then the old maps give big ticket items too. Wind Up Hades and Hythlo still go for insane prices as do most of the glams, mounts, and occasional housing items.
I am still mind blown that there isn't an achievement for completing each dungeon at minimum item level, I would love for min-ilevel to have some sort of incentive so people would be attracted to it as I find it a lot of fun doing stuff that way, it would be such free content!
As long as gear and character power progression is just an item level, or a check mark for tier progression, you will never have good ''reward structure''.
I think people want the same rewards such as mounts, emotes, or portrait frames over anything else. The problem is that the dev team can't add those 3 same rewards to every single activity in the game. I feel other kind of reward is due, like good glams or even USEABLE armor with some sort of gimmick. Remember the Diadem in HW? there was a chance you could get a 5 stats armor and that was insane despite being rng. They could add something like that so people feel the time they spend on getting something is rewarding.
I made a post on the official forums about a desire to have a Mobius Final Fantasy event with a lot of rewards. Unfortunately trying to rely on people to keep that thread alive and make it get seen was impossible as people favor being negative, so I gave up.
Now if only they made collecting hats and hair matter to the hroth and veira players. It is so depressing to see new head gear and then not seeing it. Stats are nice but glam matters more. All these are great though but if 7.2 added hats how many veira players would grind like mad for glamours? Unlocking hair from Hrothgar faces you'd have people jumping for joy. None of the excuses make sense after the graphic upgrades from 7.0 and 7.1.
it's honestly baffling what hats do and don't work on our races too.... like you'd think the bandannas from Troia or Sigmascape would work just fine and the ears would clip through like every other race... but no. But the full head wrap from Troia still has the ears clip through and works just fine (at least on Viera). Additionally the scouting hood from the Nier raid works, but the scouting hood from Bozja does not while the fending hood from Bozja does work.... it's all so inconsistent I get that there probably are a lot of headgear that just doesn't work on Viera or on Viera with lopears... but there's a lot that really should and does not
the contest weapons being from maps means DT maps are gonna be hot years down the line. You could probably make a steady flow of gil just from selling the maps also appreciate a reason to get more nuts, more bicolor gemstones, etc. This is the exact philosophy we need, always providing reasons to do content that's typically done once at expansion start and rarely ever again. What I would really like to see is them add more hunt marks. It would be cool if at least a couple times an expansion they add an A rank and S rank to each zone, maybe even some hunt related rewards that don't require an absurd amount of S ranks to get
But as it seems they havent tackled the beast tribe rewards much, still the same since Shb, minion mount, materia and thats mostly it no point doing those daily once full reputation other than exp
I'd rather Chaotic not reward Ultimate BiS, there's only 2 realistic outcomes. 1) It's balanced for the usual Savage ilvl as normal and gets outpaced significantly faster than previous Ultimates, or 2) It's balanced for Chaotic gear and the first month or so of prog is potentially miserable because you're slightly undergeared for DPS checks (if they actually try to make decent ones this time). If we want the Chaotic gear to be relevant for Savage/Ultimate raiders, I'd prefer to see it at equivalent to Savage but with different stat combos so we could mix and match for potentially better builds at certain SKS tiers or something, but the caveat is that at the same time I would also like for them to diversify stat investment in general to make those choices more impactful.
@@Brian.Chamberlain Not everyone wants to do harder content. Locking stuff like that will just lead to more elitism in the game.

Island Sanctuary had a lot of issues, but one thing I'll praise about is the amount of rewards it gave. Lots of glamour, mounts, minions, materia, hairstyles, etc. Hopefully Cosmic Exploration is as rewarding as that but actually fun to play.
what, you mean hitting thousands of nodes for days at a time and doing nothing else wasn't engaging gameplay???
Gotta be a troll comment lmao
Havent they said that Cosmic Exploration will be a mix of Eureka and Bozja? But only the good things about both combined?
@@captainziggy82 Where’s the troll? Island Sanctuary was dogshit to play but it had great rewards. Doesn’t seem like a crazy take. The motorcycle mounts, beachwear, and ponytail hairstyles were the only reason I slogged through it.
lots of mounts? 3 mounts and 20 reskin... more like.

MAYBE somebody deleted the glamour rewards, and wants to buy them again, but that's what the calamity salvager is for (if pvp rewards arent there already, just add them)
I think I missed the point you were making here?
Square plz add previous ex weapons (shiny and non-shiny) for new classes. i wanna see a tsukiyomi scythe for reaper
As a Sage main, I second this
As a Viper main, I NEED my moonlight twinfangs!
And electric twinfangs
As a vpr main i agree. I want my weapon series weapons
I'm like that all the way down to ARR weapons. Where's the Irit, Titan, Ramuh etc weapons for the newer jobs?
DSR weapons for Viper and Picto please ;w;
Would be especially nice if they were "special dyes", like leopard patterned dye, zebra stripes, polka dots, starry, and so on...
Dyes are a great idea.
Add the standard dyes at like 100 crystals, non-standard at 1000, metallic at 2500, pastels at 10,000, and maybe 100,000 for pure white/black (by purchasing 10x 10,000 crystal "dye vouchers" and trading them)
Maybe let us by Bicolored gems with them too. Say 1000 crystals for 50 gems?
You can make outfits with all the pieces of gear now!
Dyes or heck. I'll even take current materia tier. Just give me something to spend my PvP crystals on 😢
Edit: turns out you can exchange wolf collars for marks albeit in a very walk back in forth between vendors kinda way cause when cap you gotta spend
@@daedric-7898 casuals are better off augmenting crafted gear
They will never ever do that. Like they will never remove weekly reward system. That way you need to extent your subscription. This whole game has been made for you to just keep paying out of the nose.

Can the devs bother to release the old PVP series rewards to buy for trophy crystals? I feel they have dropped the ball with PVP this patch by not including them despite updating PVP across the board.
I just wanna say, I appreciate CiderSpider's growth as a XIV content creator, as he's now being actively mentioned by other big XIV creators.
I want them to expand on the grand company system. Add more ranks and rewards. I'm at Storm Captain and it just feels meaningless.
Still incredibly bummed they gated the contest weapons to treasure dungeons, its just RNG on RNG on RNG, absolute terrible odds
At least the drop rates should be increased significantly.
(Also don’t forget to grab the free fantasia from the nearby moogle while you’re there)
Edit: It might be framer kits instead of orchestrions, idk
@@d4MikeJones I already got those and still have over 200 points. I really hope they add more.
@Mordy. just add as much rewards equal to playing the game gets. All the achievements for doing msq, the dungeons, normal raid, 24mans, and the like. All the stuff casual players do.
Its even worse if you had veteran rewards from before the achievement certificates were implemented, because all the veteran rewards except the Cloud, Squall, Firion and Zidane outfits make up the bulk of the rewards for certificates and the veteran rewards are account wide meaning you have even less to spend them on
I'm still crying big dumb DRK tears over the death of the Shadowstalker set when the feast ended back in Shadowbringers. Is this hopium?
Me too, me too

Idk, I think MMOs benefit from timed events too. It makes the world feel more real. Not everything IRL can be obtained indefinitely. Sometimes you just miss out
Tell them to release previous pvp rewards.
Yes please.... there is nothing to spend Trophy Crystals or Wolf Marks on anymore.
they originally stated previous season rewards would be available in the future and most people assumed it would simply cost crystals if you missed them.
@@voledaeexcuse me for the dumb question but with season rewards are we talking series malmstone rewards?
They mentioned in the recent patch they will release previous PvP rewards on a later patch with a new currency they’ll add, I don’t believe it will be crystals.
old pvp rewards + more glam plates.
I get theres MSQ and normal alliance raid, and society quests but these arent a lot of content for 4 months.
one more arguement could be made: 24 Man raid gear should be 725, not 720. its something that is locked weekly, and can serve as a little boost.
It’s a weekly lock, like normal raids, except there are no accessories and bc only the norma raid gear gets uogrades, you have to use it to upgrade two separate roles simultaneously or else you might as well not worry about getting the ar gear at all.
thats where chaotic comes in
And ilvl of 5 stat boost isnt worthwhile. If anything it should be on part with tome gear and augmebtable if its weekly locked
God I would love a rideable Orchestrion mount where you could pick the music.
@@lens_hunter umm akshually small indie dev spaghetti code, not technically possible
But then you'll miss out on the triple triad mount
Additional Framer's kit on ShB and EW PLUS achievements and Khloe's silver certificates feels so great to see motivations to do old regional FATE stuff even if it asks for Shared FATE 3 on all maps of all the maps of the expansions. And I have an odd feeling that people might want to get the Eulmoran Comfort framer's kit
Isn’t it just shadowbringers and onwards that support the shared fate system?
@@katherinemerkel3505 Yes, the Shared FATE system is present from Shadowbringers onwards. You have to do about 66 FATEs per zone on each expansion
Here's a tip: Listen to the song on RUclips lol
Just give Hroth and Viera hats already. Do they need 10 years for this or some shit?
Now if only they'll update the Grand Companies...
Shake drink was MGP. Achievement was the Water emote. Gotta grow those sprouts.
Definitely agree with the Savage lock-out and the "FOMO" PvP rewards!!!
Good boy Mr Happy only does positive reporting for SE
I know it sounds bad but those who earned the old sets deserve to stand out still and not have their achievement invalidated
they'll do it eventually chill
It has been YEARS and they've never done it. Some criticism is absolutely warranted.
@car-keys Yeah, maybe in fifteen years or so those rewards will come back. 🙄😒
They need to make different look for old Feast reward. Like, we play that mode while others cry how that was bad (like hell, CC is worse)
The reward structures in 14 made me quit after years of underwhelming systems.
Tru why isht the weapon that drops just the glowy version? Its so dumb
Also because it would take more time to design the glow, make it, test it, tweak it, maybe change it for a better one then repeat.
@@one_eyeddd473because some people don't like the glow.
And adding onew job weapons... Dont forget that.
dawntrail isn't going to be satisfying for anyone that isn't lying to themselves.
I still don't have the weapon because conversion

devs need to take on more risks and innovate more. Every patch is the same.
That explains why maps started selling for 100's of K gil.
Oh great, another mount I will never use, oh nice some music I listened to and liked the first time then promptly muted the game again, oh great another TT card I wont use because I set my deck 2 years ago and it still works fine, oh yay glam I don't have space for because this games inventory/glam system is absolute ass+++
At this point they need to start actually re-doing their gearing system, remove a lot of their stupid time gating and start fixing some long-term issues instead of tiny band-aids for me to actually give a shit about any rewards at this level.
Last time the special weapons were "just tomes"... People are never pleased
@Yokai_Yuri you missed the point that it would make savage pointless on content.
I would add to this... the tomestone weapon now that we have 21 jobs, should require only the item you get from savage/multiple weekly clears of normal
it doesn't make sense to gatekeep gear so that it takes 4 months for a casual player to gear up only one job. in a game where one of the draws is that you can play every job on one character, this kind of falls apart when it comes to not being able to get the item level to actually play all those jobs
they also could uncap normal mode of the 8-man raid in advance of the odd numbered patches so people can catch up before the patches drop
They really need to address trial mounts too. Having to run them 99 times and then not even be able to buy the mounts with totems yet is ridiculous.
Shared fates are the goat lmao do you know how annoying mob drop mats were before shared fates?!
I had been complaining that it definitely felt like we have 0% more rewards... but I do think you're right that there are indeed more rewards
but I do think that there is still an issue when it comes to gear rewards.
Itd not much but they did just add the water can emote lol
Ooooh that's where I get the barreltender mount...welp guess I better hurry up with using my custom deliveries for levelling my crafters
What surprised me the most was Jonathas getting updated. Although i did see someone not able to get the framer kit from him.
I like to bring up the problem that WoW has faces for many years already: Mount fatigue
If people already have dozens of mounts and can only ever use one at a time, then more mounts are not going to be that interesting and certainly wont lure people who unsubscribed back to the game.
I feel that. Having done Dead ends maybe 250 times and never seen that Bird is actually wild and will leave you frustrated. Thats not good.

Put up a PF, they usually fill. You can also do deep dungeon.
Did you notice that we got the Pelu Pelu society mount at rank 5 instead of later like they usually do? It makes me think they might do the same thing as with the Ananta in SB and add a second mount down the line.

This right here. Everyone is too focused on fomo
Making them tradeable also for the tokens would probably be a nice little quality of life change for the TT collectors.
with them restricting ranked pvp to certain servers I feel they going to kill off pvp

Tbh would have preferred these "joke" weapons as MGP, that way I could actually reasonably get them lol.
@@arohk4415 then dont solo them? youre playing an mmo lol
@@ziegfeld4131You cannot reason with these people, don't try 😂
You know Happy, you're right; we should get a red shark for getting enough points on the Ruby Ocean Fishing route.
Additionally the scouting hood from the Nier raid works, but the scouting hood from Bozja does not while the fending hood from Bozja does work.... it's all so inconsistent
I get that there probably are a lot of headgear that just doesn't work on Viera or on Viera with lopears... but there's a lot that really should and does not
the contest weapons being from maps means DT maps are gonna be hot years down the line. You could probably make a steady flow of gil just from selling the maps
also appreciate a reason to get more nuts, more bicolor gemstones, etc.
FYI, custom delivery items only need 600 collectability for max rewards.
