100% hoping to see that'll happen. Only FC features and a lawn would be missing but you could technically use island sanctuary at that point for yard items.
I'm shocked they didn't give us FF11 as a bonus sub, even a limited time one, before the alliance raid. It would've been great for the long content drought between patches and a good way for someone like me, who never played 11, to get invested in the alliance raid.
The FFXI servers can barely handle the 3000 odd remaining players spread amongst them (not counting multiboxers). There's no way they want a massive influx or it'll just obliterate the servers and the skeleton crew left running things won't be able to handle it.
Yeah no. FFXI has no real budget at this point, especially with the handful of people on the team. The last director even said so himself. This is why the game just constantly recycles content. Heck even the final boss of the new story didn't even have a modeling team to make a proper new model. The game also barely has only 10 servers left, since a majority were fused due to the decreasing player count and also them planning to end the game when FFXIV (1.0) took off, which is why they were originally a dual sub deal back at 1.0 launch. After 1.0 failed, that uh...kind of blew up in their faces and then they tried to do the same with FFXI mobile, AND THEN THAT BLEW UP AGAIN. ;w; They don't have enough people to keep the game running properly if the player count would start having an influx of people from FFXIV. Hell, they don't even have a real GM team anymore, hence why the game is full of so many bots. Point is, they're never gonna do that.
@@KaiyokoStar That would be incredibly nice. It's good we can decorate it with housing items at the least, but yeah, this would probably make them a go to thing for a lot of people, especially FCs. Being able to turn an island into a sort of FC HQ would be dope.
@@Corrderio It's already a massive investment either way, and the Sanctuary takes a lot of time to get to and it's option content you can skip, would be the same for housing if it was treated sanely. I still remember my worst experience, it was when Kugane opened. I was waiting by a sign board hoping for get a sport next to a friend of mine, then someone came up and snatched it at the last second. I was SO mad at that.
as a wow player since 2005 and FF14 player since 2.0 Beta wave 4, I do not think the wow housing feature will be as robust as one might think. If they are using the same framework as Garrisons but allow more slots to put things in (Wall decorations, trophies, pre-planned objects) It may attract long time players and people who have played casually but i don't think it will be the same level of customization as 14's housing. You won't be able to make proper night clubs so to say or go ham wild on layering objects. I just hope my FOS and unobtainable accolades do get to be displayed in my home cause I'm still proud of things like being there for the BC prelaunch event and the like. Wow's 15 a month is still the same since it's launch price and while i do appreciate the extra game modes, I still look at the main game for it's majority value as the 'season' servers are only temporary game modes essentially and we have 2 versions of "Classic" one in Vanilla and one now heading to MOP with a third Vanilla in hardcore and more progression on the way. But base wow alone is worth the money still. the framework for wow has been an engine used in Warcraft 3 since 1999. That engine alone has fallen apart a couple times yet they still do innovate as much as they can. If they do end up making housing more closely like 14, it would be a healthy competition to get players to see the other side. Even if the grass is a tad burned/dried there are still green pastures as much as 14 has. Overall, all SE and Yoshi P have to do is make housing instanced, Let people start with a small to be allowed to upgrade up to a Large including the field and get rid of the demolishing.
Mikepreachwow actually asked the devs directly about it a while back and they straight up said it's not possible to do housing like in FFXIV in WoW due to spaghetti code issues. This is going to be Garrisons 2.0.
@@DavidCruickshank while it is part excuse, Wow's engine is literally Warcraft 3's from 1999 just heavily modified and they've been using the same thing since then. Spaghetti code is an understatement as to the amount of times a major patch would 'break' the game for a while and reintroduce once 'fixed' bugs (The guild achievement spam being one of them) They could potentially have had a working system a bit more than garrisons allowing basic x/y axis placement or squares to fill up spots and customize with turning things, but it may of caused an invincibility glitch with a random frog mob in the middle of nowhere to execute players for 5 million damage. there has been weirder things in wow's code every time major features are changed/updated because of it. P.S: Blink still can cause you to clip through the world and other places since 2004. That is impossible to fix 20 years later.
IIRC, Yoshi P looked closely at what WoW had to offer at the time he revamped FFXIV for the 2.0 re-release. My guess is that he and the dev team are looking at how the competition implements housing, and considering how the current system in 14 could be improved. Like anything as complex as 14, though, changes are gonna take time to implement, probably with some glitches and bumps in the road along the way.
FF14 housing been in trouble since day 1 with the whole limited spot thing. GW2 just got housing recently and they literally give it to you for free by just progressing the story and you are given huge custmization ability for it due to Creator mode they have for housing items. Though I do hope they add new homestead themes in the future.
@@jrtime228 That's what people have been suggesting but people in the RP scene are mad with that suggestion as "it destroys the immersion for roleplaying". And don't say that it isn't feasible as we have Island Sanctuary which afaik it's not giving any problems so far.
I hope wow housing is amazing for everyone who wants it, but sadly I can't get past the wow aesthetic. Why does a simple table or chair always need to look SO FREAKING CHUNKY
I think GW2 housing system was the kick in the butt Square needed . It's definitly not made out of listening to the player base complains that they add in 7.2 or 7.3 the inside size choose for a fee. Depending on Wow housing system, FFXIV will need to finally work on those instances housing
lol nah, as a player that loves housing, the gw2 housing items doesnt even look nice and cute. I love gw2 and ffxiv, but ffxiv housing system and items is waaaaay better...
When you're with the loporrits at one point, they mention having a housing district there. I thought for sure they'd use it for instanced housing... Feels like the perfect framework for it. Maybe eventually they still will.
i personally dont think anything will change till their backs is against the wall at this point i feel like they dont do things cause they know theres probably a mod to fix it wich is why when they banned the streamer with the timers it got put in the game next patch, the community likes to defend the devs no matter what so they feel they can just do whatever they want and get away with being lazy, until we see a mass exodus similar to how it happened in wow we wont see any change. at this point there are so many issues in teh game they said they cant fix because of "technical limitations" that i just feel like its either them bullshiting us or they just flat out need a new engine
It's a 10+ year old engine that square enix pretty much forced them to use at gunpoint so until management above the studio gets their head out of the sand their isn't any real way to change it. Anyone who's seen the stories of the dev hell FFXIV was knows they can't do jack until that happens.
@@Runelee1 given squares track record to always feel like their untouchable and that they can't fail I don't see it happening ever either the game legit needs a mass exodus like jt happened in wow for them to wake up thats what happened to blizzard and now seems like wow in a bit of a decent spot
Ppl need to realize housing was done better in other MMOs WHEN XIV launched housing, so the problem isn't now it's been always like that and the dev knows it, they admit as much several times. However at this point in time expecting them to trash the whole system and do something different is complete lunacy from a community that doesn't understand the inner workings on games and business. As heartless as it sounds housing won't change how it is implemented becuase as of now they've invested ALOT of money into housing, just look at the aditions over the years and saying they should just toss it because ppl really believe instanced housing would work (hint: it wouldn't island sanctuary couldn't handle the traffic of players on launch and that was with a forced kick of 30 mins of inactivity) is yet again lunacy. Sad as is to say this but Wow or other MMOs could give you a house irl and that wouldn't make SE change the system because it's just not worth the expense enough, not to mention you ppl won't like the fact you'll have to give up on some other content for it
everyone brings up gw2 and the new wow housing but OG mmo players knows that silly little runescape game had housing and did all kinds of crazy shit for it before housing in mmos was really a thing. There's no excuse ff14's housing is like it is lol.
I remember Runescape housing, vaguely, but there was also PSO2, OG PSO2 gave each player a private quarters, only smol unless you got an upgrade though, but then NGS basically gives all players their own Island to build stuff on, and people can get really creative with those builds.
As a WoW refugee and returning Shadowbringers-baby, can confirm housing is one of the most highly requested features in the WoW community Kinda got my hopes for housing in FF crushed when I saw the Pint video on how expensive and hard it is to buy a house even with a group of friends combining forces. Getting even a small apartment would be amazing
YoshiP said their crew would check other MMOs's features and report to him. But we never notice there is any new feature absorbed from other games in recent patches.
Another part of housing issues that has gotten worse is ever since dc travel and people deciding to flock to specific servers, theres even less incentives to have a house other than personal designing. No one stays at their home or socializes so theres no community, and unless ones on a busy server cant even chill at one to queue if from a less populated server
I have lost it when they announced housing demolition back in the day and I actually don’t have a house anymore because I stopped playing for a while. I managed my housing items by having an apartment and stay there forever with no demolition warning. Since I also play GW2 I will visit there real quick.
this and also more new housewalls. we have so many nice different houses in the expansions. look at elpis, labyrinthos, shaaloani or earthenshire. so many possible housewalls and non of them are used. there could be so much variety!
The fact that ESO wasn't mentioned at all is criminal. I haven't played GW2, I unfortunately didn't play much of Wildstar, (RIP, you didn't deserve to die) but ESO seems like it has one of the BEST housing systems in MMO's. Not only can you fully customise the interior of all houses, and exterior of houses that have them, if you really wanted to you could buy and fully customise every single house in the game. You can buy a house in all major cities, you can buy a house in a lot of zones out in the world, it's amazing. 14's housing system, IMO, is fucking atrocious. Having to fight other players to get a house is one thing, but because of that you have to constantly be logging in or you'll lose it. That's HORRID to me. The only cool part is having a neighbourhood where you can see other players houses, but given the nature of 14's housing system it shouldn't be the only one. The best thing Square can do, in my opinion, is copy ESO's system. Let us buy apartments or houses in all major cities that we can fully customise the interiors of. Let us buy houses in the games zones, I'd kill for a house in Amourot for example. Hell, let us buy an apartment in one of those apartment buildings in Solution 9. Let us be able to customize the interior of all of them, and have some that have an enclosed exterior that we can also customise, and like ESO, let us be able to buy all of them. Have prices be based on the size of the houses as well, going anywhere from 10k gil for small apartments up to 10 mil+. It would be one HELL of a gil sink to buy every single house in the game, and you know people would do it. I'd certainly try to buy as many as I could.
Imagine if mobile game gets more qol and more housing to players before WE get anything. I really hate how Yoshi is out their happy go lucky promoting this when we had to endure the content draught of EW, thinking uwu our director busy with FF16, but no apparently a mobile game too... I really hope WoW picks the pace cause I think SE think they're infallable and sitting on their laurals since the 'streamer rush' of ShB happened. Competition is good. I'll never play WoW and I played GW2 until I burnt out prior to coming to XIV. They really need to pour in more into FFXIV, we wait long patch cycles to be drip fed 'content'... Why are house upgrades not applied to apartments? I've said it many times, upgradable/customizable apartments would be so helpful. Our current houses are instanced, you can't see the 'ward' from within, your house is just a door to a shoe box instance. I have a house, I want others to have houses too, we buy the game, pay a sub, why can't people have a house to customize? Are they really so scared to meet the demand that they'd no longer chain people to the FOMO of losing their house? -------------- Speaking of WoW taking ideas...didn't we have Yoshida and the dev team admitting that he made them play wow when working on ARR?
I miss Wildstar now....Thanks Kaiyoko. One game that housing was a really fun thing to do on the side. Will be interesting if WoW housing is more FF like or GW2 like. The other way they go is SWTOR Stronghold route which is instanced. Rift had a interesting housing system with their dimensions. The scale you could build was a lot like the GW system they have now.
Pretty much gotta hope they're paying attention, but I don't wanna see them go crazy all at once and throw other systems to the side. It needs to just be gradually worked on.
Tencent. There's gonna be some gross monetization stuff afoot. Also, I have a house in FFXIV and I don't care if there's instanced housing. IN FACT, if instanced housing completely does away from the monthly auto demolition warning, I WILL BE 100% FOR IT! I do not want to have to renew my sub because my house is about to be destroyed. I'm already doing that now, but if these kind of changes happen, I will support it all the way.
I like the idea of the wards, giving a neighborhood feel... except its always a ghost town these days so meh... I think some form of instance housing would be better ultimately, especially if it means you don't lose the house if you take a break
The easiest way to add instanced housing, without doing away with the "neighborhood" feeling they want to encourage with the housing wards... just update the Island Sanctuary, even if it's like "get to rank 25, or even 30" and that final unlock is clearing a plot and building your own house, with interior and exterior decorating slots equivalent to at least a medium house if not a large. Maybe you can choose which to do, with the option to upgrade later, but all it takes is materials and cowries. The bigger the plot/house, the more it costs. All wards and plots simply become FC plots (except any that already have personal housing, or maybe the cost of a personal plot and house get fully refunded and the furnishings stored until you can transfer them to your island house.)
It's like Intel. Sitting on their laurels, thinking they don't have to innovate, they'll just keep doing what they've been doing. And somehow, the inevitable result is going to shock them.
When and if they do revamp the housing system into instanced housing, I both do and don't hope they don't lock it behind Island Sanctuary solely because that would shut out the free-to-plays that might be interested in the system. Island Sanctuary works to an extent, but full-on instanced housing should be accessible to everyone. Alternatively if you are willing to let the free-to-plays dangle for a while until Endwalker is part of the free trial (probably in 10.0) the Island Sanctuary is the perfect system to expand into full-on instanced player housing. Just add in a completely new building to become a player house, section it off into its own thing kind of like apartments are to current housing districts and make it the size of at least a Medium house.
If they do instanced housing it needs to be a completely separate system that everyone gets. Sure let people use the interiors we all know, but *everyone* should just get that house and it never demolishes. I really love the community housing wards, having neighbours (especially active ones) is REALLY fun, its essentially a full ward of player self-expression and that adds so much to making the community feel alive. I'd never give up my medium in Shiro, even if I just got a free large instanced house. It should definitely exist, mainly for those that can't afford/keep getting unlucky with housing lotteries or can't commit to a ward house due to demolition timers.
Idk anything about programing so I know I'm just talking out of my ass like most ppl but I am so sick of my 2 favorite MMO's, WoW & 14, BOTH having the "spaghetti code" excuse for every single thing players ever ask for.....
I am definitely one of those players who could care less about WoW and what's going on there. Housing in WoW would not get me to switch, but I agree that SE needs way more heat on the housing situation.
spitting facts. since 2014 i've had a love hate relationship and also is one of the main reasons I have had a consistent sub.... for just that alone I wish it was just bit better... user friendly and not a 2-3 day project of relearning how to glitch things into walls to have a nice virtual house. I'm a millennial and its probably the only house I'll ever own lol
I think that in the end, FFXIV will add an instanced housing option alongside what is currently available. This will satisfy a lot of people, but like island sanctuary, will have some significant limitations. For one thing, I doubt the instanced housing system will support the creation of nightclubs and hosting of large events. And exploring random people's houses will likely not be thing either. But that's fine for most people.
i love how jaded and bitter ff14 players are when it comes to world of warcraft i'd argue that the war within and previously dragronflight did a better job expac wise then endwalker and dawntrail...people don't want to admit it but at least wow actually inovates and brings new stuff to the table every few months rather then the same boring content we get done in a day on ff14.
It's MMO tribalism. I like talking about both regardless of enjoying FFXIV more. I see a lot of friends getting invested in WoW again and I see what they're doing for their player base I think Blizzard is trying pretty hard to give them value in their sub.
NGL I want FFXIV team to feel abit of heat. I never considered ever playing WoW but after seeing the disaster that was post EW content draught + MSQ and....DT ~MSQ~ and all the bullshit discourse around it and Yoshida's 'I'll pretend everything is fine and plug my ears and cover my eyes' to player feedback... I started genuinely considering playing WoW but I genuinely got filtered at their site cause idk how their sub works, like do they give a 30 day sub when you buy it? do you buy all the expansions? or what.
To be fair, for me, i never liked WOW, even before FFXIV existed. And still in all fairness, i'm glad that Wow is giving the kick at FFXIV with the housing system. I sincerly hope it's so good it forces Square to work on it or they gonna loose a non negligeable portion of their player base (the housing fans and RP players)
@@Midnightear high key hilarious you got filtered by wows website given how horrid mogststion is (pls fix square). When you buy Wow you get all expansions but the latest which is The War Within. You also get 30 days for free.
As someone who played WC3 in 2004, WoW never hooked me personally like 14 did, but I like that both communities are eyeing eachother up. Competition breeds innovation, which is usually a great thing.
Because of the current housing system, the housing already in the game can never be instance based, it will never work. They COULD add NEW housing areas that incorporate instance based housing, but it would destroy the current system as it kill outdoor decoration
I don't know why they can't do instance housing. THey have the Island sanctuary which you can place unlimited exterior housing items down, so they should be able to do the same with a whole house.
I hope the devs realize that just because something is being done under the table by the community to make housing more bearable, making tools like coordinate positioning possible, doesn't mean that it's inherently a bad thing to implement themselves if they can find the time to set aside resources to make it official. The reason why Valve became successful is they took allot of the talent from their community and compromised by added some of them to their staff or just working with them to put a version of their creativity back into their games. Games like Team Fortress and Portal wouldn't exist without that, and now they are either making bank indirectly through microtransactions or are critical staples that make their brand look good - many years after they stopped making games and for the most part became the go-to distributer of most PC games. You still need to hold a leash on this stuff, so the dev team and parent company control the direction of the game for the business side of things - but if you can take a W from the community to an extent without even needing to do much work at all you might as well talk with them to adopt a sanitized version of what was created outside SE. I think custom shaders was a big first step towards that.
I mean, we have apartments always available, so that tells me that people want exteriors. I’m not sure if they can/want to do individually instanced full houses, so I think that their only option is really just to keep adding more wards.
Apartments are quite small with a limited build budget. I'm not saying I disagree with you, but decorating a small house can be tricky to make anything interesting. Apartments even more so. More wards is a nice bandaid, but instanced on the Island would be the most ideal. Though other island spots with other biome types would be nice (like I prefer snowy to tropical).
I just want to be able to put furnishings anywhere and rotate them in any angle like in some other MMOs. On the other hand, if some people quit for WoW housing, then maybe I can finally win a mansion. 😂
the thing in wow i'm always thinking about there's two factions , maaaanyyy races and every race had it's own style in houses and areas that in canon it's belong to them like you can't expect housing elves in the human / orc cities , god this is going be hell of event lol < also me to ffxiv housing : " i don't want to play with you anymore"
GW2 and FFXIV player here, as good as the homestead system is in GW2. You only can get your party (5 people) inside. No one else can enter. That means 5 PEOPLE. ONLY 5 PEOPLE CAN BE IN YOUR HOMESTEAD. It's a housing feature mostly for solo players (it allows their alts to roam around in the homestead) and small parties, and meanwhile XIV allows up to around 80-90 players in their housing. XIV Housing needs changes but it is fine right now.
While I agree housing definitely can be improved, to be honest I'd rather they focus on fixing/modifying the game engine to support a proper transmog/collection system. The outfit addition in 7.1 gives me hope that they're working towards this. There's nothing that says they can't work on both of course, but if it is a resourcing issue, that would be my preference.
I get their original intention was to make it feel like you're part of this world that you're in. However, It's just been... Not good implementation... I honestly want to have it to where you can get a cheaper version of a Small/Medium/Large home that's instance based so that I'm able to finally have a place to go to where I can just chill and do some of the Home activities or even better Free Company Activities and that you're able to actually look up other players and host house parties like it's Runescape. So weird they cut out Moghouses from XI for what they have now....
Ff14 should give either very cheap housing or free housing. Make options more robust. FF14 has quite a few limitations that other games have no issues with.
They really should limit how many houses you can get because I fr see one particular player that bought a bunch in bulk which makes it hard to get housing for players who don’t have any housing 😢
no shot theyre moving to instanced housing in 14. mobile is just its separate thing. wards are already established and built into the story(firmament). i dont see them going through all that trouble to make such a huge change
WoW has freedom to use almost any addons, and the only limitation will be the system itself. How flexible Blizzard will create it, that is the main question. WoW addon community is so big that in 1 month they will create addons to help you without the fear of getting a ban.
I dabble in classic/ hardcore WoW and have little interest in retail. In GW2 I mainly did WvW but kinda lost interest when they introduced the warclaw mount as it didn't feel the same (plus my world kept getting stacked against and I loved Deso too much to move). Can't see myself going to either just for housing. In FF14 I've always been a casual, solo player and don't do much these days aside from crafting, housing and doing the odd raid or dungeon. I have my dream FC medium in Lavender Beds and my private medium in Shirogane and am perfectly content with both. They'll get upgraded to mansion interiors and I'm happy with that as I tend to afk in either of them when I'm doing other things.
Will we be able to make flat out modern penthouses with plasma TVs in wow/gw2 ? Or art deco/japanese/gothic/whatever mansions, cottagecore and dozens of other wild themes ? I don't believe so 😂 On the accessibility side, FFXIV could(and should) be better. But on the artistic/creative side, it is light years ahead other MMOs so it prob won't be in trouble anytime soon 🤌Great analysis ! I'm still curious to see how it will evolve in wow and gw2.
"XIV players dont look at WoW as a competitor." But they absolutely do. I see XIV players bring up WoW waaaaaaaaay more often than I see WoW players bring up XIV. WoW players have been living in a 20 year time bubble, and the only time that was briefly popped was during shadowlands. After Endwalker, most diehard WoW players I know promptly returned to WoW.
What I mean is, there are FFXIV players that hate WoW with a passion and refuse to look at it. It's just WoW BAD, WoW BAD. So they're never willing to have a discussion about the two games in comparison. They're essentially not looking at it as a competitor or they're in real denial. I didn't wanna focus on that in the video, so that's how I summarized it.
Eh, I really wouldn't worry too much about WoW. FFXIV can make getting furniture and stuff engaging. I am going to say it now, WoW can't, because in all my years playing WoW I do not remember enjoying crafting a single time. Odds are it'll end up being another way to monetize the game. Probably barebones stuff as quest rewards while the rest is in the cash shop. Having said that, at this point I'm in favor of anything that puts a fire under YoshiP's ass. Dawntrail if nothing has been a show of how complacent they've grown over the years.
With Blizzards poor delivery I am not expecting much. With XIV, they need to fix and innovate housing. A big thing is adding invidivual only wards as needed. As for the FFXI as part of tlmy XIV sub? Yes! Please. I would play XI again if that happened.
as someone who quit WoW after 15 years this year to play FFXIV, there is no way in hell WoW will ever have a competitive product with FFXIV. It just can't and won't ever happen
It is a competitive product with xiv. WoW overall has more subs than Xiv. Clocking in at like 10mil across all versions. XIV is currently in a massive slump in terms of new content and the issue of running out of old content is real.
@@JohnSomming Yeah myabe after 10,000 hours you'll find yourself without anything to do lmao. as a new player there is an extreme amount of content, not to mention everything from ARR to Dawntrail is relevant which is something that WoW doesnt have
Isn't that the same thing for WoW? Since you're a 15 year veteran, you've run out of things you wanna do in WoW. If a FFXIV player started WoW anew they would have the exact same thing happen.
@@EvanLaFrance I clocked in at like 220 days /played and had done probably 80% of the content when I quit in endwalker. As a new player it's great but the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
@@KaiyokoStar Its not the fact that I haven't run out of things to do on WoW, it's more so I've ran out of things I want/enjoy doing. WoW and FFXIV are two totally different games, they just so happen to share components of an MMO. FFXIV does a fantastic job of keeping content relevant and challenging whereas WoW leaves everything from previous expansions to rot
FXIV housing is not a high bar for any game to go after. Everyone knows this. Camera collision is horrible, the fact you fall through floors i f making a loft is terrible. Cant scale object sizes. Oh right and in order to make some of the amazing housing designs people see online without spending a month glitching to get half the look you have to use plugins to let you place items anywhere. Or use an external house making app. Guild wars 2, PSO, ESO all have way better ideas for WoW to learn from the FF housing. Oh also you lose the house if you dont enter it after 45 days....way to go them saying "If you need a break form the game take it.....unless you have a house"
So my opinion on the housing in FFXIV is this. I think it's fine the way it is with the whole lottery system and what not. I do think they need to add either more housing zones and/or more wards in each zone. And make them all accessible to FC's and players. Instead of having some wards fc only and then the rest mixed. Because some of the fc only wards have houses that aren't being used at least on my server. Also I really think and wish they would allow only one house per character per server. That way you can get houses for alts on different servers but it would stop the Jerks that own like whole streets all alts with the sameish name. That isn't fair. I noticed a few wards in the housing zones where one person owns like 7 houses all next to each other. That isn't fair at all. That's just being a straight up jerk. Also I don't think people are going to stop playing FFXIV just because the housing system isn't exactly what people want from it. SE is gunna have a hard time fixing it because of spaghetti code. Just because WoW is adding housing doesn't mean that people are going to leave FFXIV to play WoW. The game is lame and so is the community and the way dungeon content is executed. I decided to try it one night while 14 was down for world maintenance. And I was so over it in one night. I was not impressed and extreamly disappointed. Didn't have any kind if fun. So yah no I think 14 is ggunna be completely fine even if housing isn't fixed right away or at all. FFXIV has a way better community, the content is way more fun, the graphics are wayyyy better than other mmos and all and all the devs do a lot to try and make all of us happy. We are really lucky to have such a great dev team slaving away to make such an amazing game for us to enjoy and I'm sure as hell thankful to be a part of the 14 community. Wouldn't leave it for any other mmo ever.
They have that whole catalog for you to preview limit you to a certain amount of housing items, why? If I want to tank my fps with 400 showerheads let me do that
I don't think final fantasy would ever be in trouble or anything like that, i think this is just fearmongering. I started playing a few months ago and from what I understand it's always had a much bigger playerbase than say guild wars 2 and has been running for countless years and idk about world of warcraft but I never really got too much into wow even when my boyfriend tried to make me because the characters look too cartoony and blocky and stuff. I loved the cinematics of that game though those were great. i used to play guild wars 2 practically every day for years and I've finished end of dragons and stopped playing about when the expansion after that was released so I don't have any hands on knowledge about the housing besides the one everyone gets normally in each major racial city but my main point is decorating a home isn't an important part of an mmo in my opinion since you're just decorating a home (putting aside clubs and things like that for a second). What i find matters most is the friendliness and community of the playerbase is what keeps someone playing a game also there being a lot of things to do like quests and dailies and the look of the game, what I always admired about final fantasy even before I played was how pretty everyone looked. I also have made over thirty or so friends in this game already including the people in my fc where as I probably made around that or maybe more idk? over the years I was on guild wars but i feel like it's easier to strike up a conversation in this game, or maybe that's just my faded memory and extroverted personality. I do feel like focusing on how good houses are in mmos, as big a gil sink as it is and comparing that to whether people will play one game or the other, is like comparing how hot the bad guys are in different games and saying that people are going to play another game because there's a more buff shirtless guy in another game in that msq or a lady with bigger bahonkas. A nice thing with ffxiv's housing as well is how there's a neighbourhood with everyone's houses and you can stroll around and go inside everyone else's homes, I may be wrong but from what I understand other games don't do that? or none that I can think of and it adds to the realism and as I mentioned earlier creates more of a community and brings it all to life. I think we're just yelling at nothing here and everyone's free to play what they want and spend their time how they wish but as someone who's played other mmos I like final fantasy the most. also your friends aren't going to jump to another game either and it's a dps loss to play something else /jk
Oh if Blizzard does housing, I promise you they will implement it waaaaay better than Square-Enix. Square-Enix struggles with technology and software engineering. Whenever somebody asks Yoshida if FFXIV could do something every other MMO did 10 years ago, there's some data transfer issue, or an architecture problem, or whatever, and they can't do it. This is actually a common problem amongst Japanese game devs and one they're well aware of: they're way behind in tech. The reason why Japanese games are so successful is creativity, not tech.
it might just be noticing this but why does it seem that every miqo'te uses the same hairstyle and nothing else? just a lil something I noticed, good video though!
lol wow looks so ugly....I'll never play that shit just because the way it looks like... FFXIV should be worried about Throne and liberty bringing housing system, because pretty much my whole guild comes from XIV and people are in love with TL, when the house system arrives with such pretty graphics we will never come back to xiv...
Housing in FF14 has always seemed like a scam to me. You lose it after not playing for 3 months, right? I want to play other games, man. I can't fomo myself like this.
Nobody cares about housing except for mod beasts who treat the game like Second Life 2 and want clout by having the most upvoted decorated house and the most popular nightclub for other mod beasts. 90% of the world is full of very pretty but very empty houses because the occupants decorate for screenshots and then go stand in limsa where they can show off their mods with Mare. It'll be the same for WoW, it'll be all the rage for 6 weeks then everyone won't even use the housing after they are done taking screenshots. The vast majority of WoW players are not interested in turning the game into a life sim. Competition is healthy and if companies are taking each other's popular features hopefully that breeds innovation. The main reason WoW is looking at this is because FFXIV did so well with it in the first place.
Honestly, when it comes to the housing issues for 14, lets just drop the idea of FF14 mobile being a worthwhile jump because gachas or mobile is a whole other matter. What Square Enix needs to do is push for more availability on housing and for the love of god fix that roulette crap for housing. Housing Ultimate is the real deal and still destroying players since it came out.
Im not concerned in the slightest. Don't like the artstyle of WoW, it's not final fantasy, its incredibly overrated and i dont like the commhnity. I was done with wow after 3 months.
FFXIV really needs to up their game in many ways. I haven't played WoW in several expansions but I always said I'd go back if they add housing lol. I always hope that everyone's housing system will be like Wildstar but I at least hope it's similar to Palia and Guild Wars 2. If WoW housing is good I'd probably play it again especially because I've been pretty disappointed in some of the directions FFXIV has gone lately.
The idea that Blizzard takes other people's features, steals them, and makes them better I think was true maybe 10-15 years ago. Lately it seems everything wow has tried has crashed and burned. The only success I can think of in terms of wow related to the addition of flying back in BC, and then dragonriding in Dragonflight. WoW's storytelling is so poor, as is the actual narrative. I played wow from vanilla on up to dragonflight, taking lengthy breaks at times. I set it down permanently during dragonflight. I wish anyone well who is enjoying their game, but for me the magic died back at the end of Legion.
wrong "they" didnt make ff14 mobile "they" only licensed it. its tencent thats squeezing out wahtever ff14 mobile will be. its very likely to be mobile dumpster bin fire as usual
It's a bit soon to be doomposting about WoW housing competing with XIV's. In fact, I doubt its anwhere near comparable. The WoW team of old that could take the best things from other games and make them better is gone, and instead we just end up with "good enough" by WoW standards. Dynamic flying is not as good as the system in GW2, but its better than base flying. The story is incredibly mid compared to XIV, but its better than Shadowlands. Thats the current WoW team. Which is why i expect WoW housing to be maybe slightly better UI wise than XIV, but ultimately be the same as building without glitches.
I played WoW for 14 years, myself. The reason the news of WoW housing doesn't move me is, Blizzard hasn't shown they've overcome their worst sin as a developer. Yes, they put in features from other games and, theoretically, do them better - they just largely forget about them with each new expansion. Even Dragonriding, the flying system they took almost entirely from Guild Wars 2 for Dragonflight isn't done much differently in WW. There are even people who complain about being forced into it. GW2 makes it an integral part of their game's experience, which is why it's still the best mount game in any MMO. FFXIV's strength isn't its plethora of systems, it's that they've figured out how to make almost everything evergreen. That includes housing. Here's an example: the other day I decided I wanted to do a haunted house theme for my FC room, so I looked up the mats I'd need to craft Haukke Manor themed furniture and ended up going on a tour of old content. This theme runs through all of FFXIV's content. You want to craft endgame food? You need to go back to Shadowbringers nodes to get the lemons you need, or go back to ARR to get the garlic you need, or back to Mor Dhona to harvest the crystals you need. Even systems that haven't been updated in years still have relevance, like the Squadron system. Those manuals and Gold Saucer VIP cards are still relevant. Every Make It Rain campaign those VIP cards are like gold, and the manuals give you boosts to exp, food duration and other buffs you usually only get if your FC supplies them. FFS, look at Bozja and Eureka. You can still make big money selling things you get in that content, same with treasure maps. Beyond the evergreen aspect, FFXIV's housing is unreal. You can make a KFC franchise, you can make a McDonald's. You can make the coziest cabin ever, or a BDSM sex dungeon. You can make an insane asylum, a pirate ship, an aquarium, a Silent Hill house, and these are just the things I've seen personally. You're only limited to your creativity in FFXIV. Each game does something better than the other. Housing, despite the limited availability, is something FFXIV does better than anyone else, mostly because it never gets forgotten. I do think they need to continue to tweak things, though. Hell, if they allow you to have different room sizes in apartments that'll solve about 95% of the problems right there.
As someone who owns a medium house in the Goblet, I don't understand the desire people have with wanting a house. Sure you can decorate it but other than gardening plots and stable, a house has no real function. I was lucky to get a house but after a week or two I realize why did I spent 20mil for it. Most people I know who have a house barely spent any time at their house. If I could transfer ownership to someone else I would but I am hoping they add workshop functionality someday. I'm not knocking on people who want one, it's just after having one it's just not all that great in my opinion.
Dude they just need to add increasing interior sizes into Apartments and the housing crisis will be solved 😭
100% hoping to see that'll happen. Only FC features and a lawn would be missing but you could technically use island sanctuary at that point for yard items.
@@KaiyokoStar Let me build a god damned house on the island!
@@hehashivemind6111this honestly like why can't we have a house it's our island
People seem to really want exteriors more than just having an interior space imo. I don’t blame them.
Only if I can make the exterior of my house looks like a European phone booth.
Dude FF11 was awful...
@@MarcusMaybenot Be that as it may... it was my mistress for 10 years...
@@MarcusMaybenot Horrible....if you have no taste in MMOs. :v
To me the island sanctuary is what housing really should have been and it's a shame SE doesn't plan to do more with it in the future.
If you could add the current houses to the island and customize them I don’t think island sanctuary would have been looked at as negatively.
@@KaiyokoStar
That would be incredibly nice. It's good we can decorate it with housing items at the least, but yeah, this would probably make them a go to thing for a lot of people, especially FCs. Being able to turn an island into a sort of FC HQ would be dope.
Agreed. I have no clue why they continue to support this awful housing system that they advertise as a game feature when the supply is low.
@@Corrderio
It's already a massive investment either way, and the Sanctuary takes a lot of time to get to and it's option content you can skip, would be the same for housing if it was treated sanely.
I still remember my worst experience, it was when Kugane opened. I was waiting by a sign board hoping for get a sport next to a friend of mine, then someone came up and snatched it at the last second. I was SO mad at that.
Housing forcing you to pay every month. Ffxi you everyone had a moghouse from day 1.
as a wow player since 2005 and FF14 player since 2.0 Beta wave 4, I do not think the wow housing feature will be as robust as one might think.
@@MarcusMaybenot I swear "spaghetti code" has just become an industry excuse for when you don't have a good reason for not doing something.
@@DavidCruickshank while it is part excuse, Wow's engine is literally Warcraft 3's from 1999 just heavily modified and they've been using the same thing since then. Spaghetti code is an understatement as to the amount of times a major patch would 'break' the game for a while and reintroduce once 'fixed' bugs (The guild achievement spam being one of them)
They could potentially have had a working system a bit more than garrisons allowing basic x/y axis placement or squares to fill up spots and customize with turning things, but it may of caused an invincibility glitch with a random frog mob in the middle of nowhere to execute players for 5 million damage. there has been weirder things in wow's code every time major features are changed/updated because of it.
P.S: Blink still can cause you to clip through the world and other places since 2004. That is impossible to fix 20 years later.
How have I never discovered you have a RUclips channel
when your community contributions to Fashion Report are so massive??
The houses in GW2 don't really exist in the world the same way, you can't even go to your friends house afaik unless they're online even.
It takes entire servers to run FFXIV housing. From what I gather, GW2 is an instanced house.
I’m one of those losers who never played RuneScape in my school library and I feel like I missed out 🙂↕️
I remember Runescape housing, vaguely, but there was also PSO2, OG PSO2 gave each player a private quarters, only smol unless you got an upgrade though, but then NGS basically gives all players their own Island to build stuff on, and people can get really creative with those builds.
As a WoW refugee and returning Shadowbringers-baby, can confirm housing is one of the most highly requested features in the WoW community
Kinda got my hopes for housing in FF crushed when I saw the Pint video on how expensive and hard it is to buy a house even with a group of friends combining forces. Getting even a small apartment would be amazing
YoshiP said their crew would check other MMOs's features and report to him. But we never notice there is any new feature absorbed from other games in recent patches.
I'm hoping they make housing cheaper, I keep trying to get a place so I can store the gear I don't use but it's kinda hard at 1.5 mil a piece
Since I also play GW2 I will visit there real quick.
they just need to add the newest final city as a ton of apartment housing
this and also more new housewalls. we have so many nice different houses in the expansions. look at elpis, labyrinthos, shaaloani or earthenshire. so many possible housewalls and non of them are used. there could be so much variety!
On ESO specifically, I've never played it and also don't know much about it to have the context of their player housing.
@@KaiyokoStar Oh, fair enough. Like I said, it's an extremely good housing system that I'd like to see Square adopt into 14.
--------------
Speaking of WoW taking ideas...didn't we have Yoshida and the dev team admitting that he made them play wow when working on ARR?
I miss Wildstar now....Thanks Kaiyoko. One game that housing was a really fun thing to do on the side. Will be interesting if WoW housing is more FF like or GW2 like. The other way they go is SWTOR Stronghold route which is instanced.
Rift had a interesting housing system with their dimensions. The scale you could build was a lot like the GW system they have now.
Hopefully competition breeds innovation? or atleast gives CBS3 leverage to convince SE to provide resources for big improvements to housing.
Pretty much gotta hope they're paying attention, but I don't wanna see them go crazy all at once and throw other systems to the side. It needs to just be gradually worked on.
I was a wow refugee, and even with housing I have no plans to go back.
Hopefully, the stuff coming out from FFXIV's competitors, YoshiP needs to push innovation to make big changes.
I reckon penthouse apartments with a roof 'balcony' that allows you to have some outdoor furnishings would be a good do between
@@misst5835 Yeah, and a small garden area on the balcony/roof so you can actually be able to cross breed plants.
Come to Saggitarius guys. Wards are half empty there. 🙃
That's completely reasonable and how I'm looking at it too.
no way they would make instance housing because they won't be able to keep you stay subbing. It's that pathetic.
spitting facts. since 2014 i've had a love hate relationship and also is one of the main reasons I have had a consistent sub.... for just that alone I wish it was just bit better... user friendly and not a 2-3 day project of relearning how to glitch things into walls to have a nice virtual house.
Though other island spots with other biome types would be nice (like I prefer snowy to tropical).
lol if FFXIV mobile has instanced housing before the main game there will be hell to pay. It also wouldn't surprise me at all
I just want to be able to put furnishings anywhere and rotate them in any angle like in some other MMOs. On the other hand, if some people quit for WoW housing, then maybe I can finally win a mansion. 😂
They just need to expand the apartments.
the thing in wow i'm always thinking about there's two factions , maaaanyyy races and every race had it's own style in houses and areas that in canon it's belong to them like you can't expect housing elves in the human / orc cities , god this is going be hell of event lol < also me to ffxiv housing : " i don't want to play with you anymore"
Even Everquest 2 launched with instance player housing 20 years ago, I think at this point ff14 should give everyone instance housing already.
Will we be able to make flat out modern penthouses with plasma TVs in wow/gw2 ? Or art deco/japanese/gothic/whatever mansions, cottagecore and dozens of other wild themes ? I don't believe so 😂
On the accessibility side, FFXIV could(and should) be better. But on the artistic/creative side, it is light years ahead other MMOs so it prob won't be in trouble anytime soon 🤌Great analysis ! I'm still curious to see how it will evolve in wow and gw2.
"XIV players dont look at WoW as a competitor."
But they absolutely do.
Literally, you're worried about nothing. Wow housing is legit going to be bought on the damn shop 100 dollars a pop.
Allow Orchestrions for outdoors.
Honestly they need a boombox or mount that plays your orchestrion rolls
Competition brings excellence. If WOW does do it better, then XIV needs to improve, and so on.
Blizzard is adding housing but i bet its gonna be not nearly as good in the slightest as FFXIV
They have that whole catalog for you to preview limit you to a certain amount of housing items, why? If I want to tank my fps with 400 showerheads let me do that
I want to be invested in housing in FFX14, though the housing system now i refuse to participate in.
WoW housing is gonna be Garrisons 2.0. I have little faith in Blizz to now fuck it ontop of MTXing the fuck out of stuff.
if tensent is running it then yes it's going to be heavly monitized.
That Final Fantasy 14 Mobile is gonna be a damn mess. I'm all for it, but that's gonna be a doozy. Calling it now.
"FF14 housing could be in trouble" what else is new?
Dude saying blizzard will do better? Lol nice joke
Yo read the title again lol, I never said FFXIV is in trouble.
Watch Blizzard Let you keep the house when you unsub compared to FFXIV 😂😂
I'm pretty sure FFXIV is the only MMO that does this, so I doubt WoW will follow suit.
@KaiyokoStar yeah I agree with Blizzard not following suit on players keeping their houses but well have to wait and see
omg the cat girl is not pink haired?
Generic Catgirl got lost in Limsa so she couldn't make it to the housing district for filming, I'm sure she'll be back for the next video.
Tencent is making FFXIV mobile? No thanks. Not having the CCP hack into my phone.
There should be a quest to get a house. It’s kind of nonsense
Eso has the best housing systems in any mmo
Lol trust me 14 is in zero danger with wows housing lmao..... I'm not concerned
lol wow looks so ugly....I'll never play that shit just because the way it looks like...
I can't fomo myself like this.
great video man!
Just raid. I'll decorate my house IRL, than you very much.
More interested in the exterior
i will never like WoW i just dont like the art style of monsters unless they add cat girls
Theres no problem. Your sub doesnt entitle you to a house
I moved to dynamis and got a medium with zero competition. I don't mind having to data centre travel for certain content as I have my medium house.
Housing in WoW? Because Garrisons weren’t a bad enough idea.
wrong
"they" didnt make ff14 mobile
"they" only licensed it. its tencent thats squeezing out wahtever ff14 mobile will be.
its very likely to be mobile dumpster bin fire as usual
EWW FFXIV MOBILE NOOOOOOOOO
As someone who owns a medium house in the Goblet, I don't understand the desire people have with wanting a house. Sure you can decorate it but other than gardening plots and stable, a house has no real function. I was lucky to get a house but after a week or two I realize why did I spent 20mil for it. Most people I know who have a house barely spent any time at their house. If I could transfer ownership to someone else I would but I am hoping they add workshop functionality someday. I'm not knocking on people who want one, it's just after having one it's just not all that great in my opinion.
