There's a few commenters completely taking this the wrong way and acting like I'm saying toss everything out or SE does nothing right which is far off basis.
There a few things always guaranteed every expansion release, meaning X.0 until X.1 starts:
    - Expansion MSQ
    - Leveling dungeons
    - 2 expert dungeons
    - 2 EX trials
    - Treasure maps
    - 4 normal and 4 savage mode raids
These all release within the 1st 4 weeks of the expansion and then we have this huge content gap until X.1 with no long form content that could fill that hole when you're done with everything else. When X.1 arrives we also still don't have long form content and the exact same thing will happen. This kills expansion hype for people who wants to play FFXIV activly.
The release of Field Operations is almost 1 year from the release of the expansion where it was announced almost 1 year ago previously so you're looking at a 2 year gap of waiting
It is not unreasonable to ask for the long form content to start in a X.06/X.08 patch that to keep players busy that want that style of contnet.
I think Happy covers this topic well here too:
    ruclips.net/video/jUc58CT5FYc/видео.html
There is also other issues with the game right now that others have brought up but I think one of the worst thing you can have happen is let your players become bored in this gap every expansion.

The core fan base of this game is, by and large, completely insane and rabid. I’ve been playing these sorts of games for two decades and I’ve never seen another that is more cultish in their devotion. Any criticism of the game at all, no matter how valid, is always seen as a personal attack. The game has become stagnant because anyone who points it out is told to leave and go play something else, and they do.

the biggest thing that needs to change for next expansion is, scratch everything and everyone that happened in Dawntrail, redcon it, get Ishikawa back as the main writer and ffs never ever mention Wuk Lamat or Tural ever again....

EW was my first expansion I was there for at launch, and I quickly realized how little there is to do after the MSQ. I knew it'd be the same for DT and was prepared for it, but the increasing time between major patches is making it so much worse.

I love said this for so long literally if they just made the overworld more engaging like bozja or eureka. Make it dangerous.... Make it exciting and rewarding when u get things from fates.. Add in some critical engagements.... They've already got the zones made, and they're so empty because u can fly over everything and the monsters aren't dangerous at almost any level that you are there.
Because everything is so convenient, there isnt any challenge in the normal game. And I still love this game... But when you go sit in a zone that's completely dead and noone talks..... It's a bit disheartening.

we get no island santuary and not tome grind relics most likely and the worst is they are ruining the already exisiting causal content the last 2 msq dung and the expert dung are hugely dislike amount causal for the first time clear and if ever dugn has bad design like the last msq ones i think ppl wont bother doing the msq (the main casual content )but hey at least the midcore and hardcore players liek the dung so that great (always good when the non target audience ruins the content for the target on).

The game needs to change things up, absolutely. For the longevity of the game, they can't keep recycling the same formulas and not continue to innovate. FFXIV needs to start either bringing in some of its expansion selling features into X.0 or start adding more than just 2 mounts to chase from Extreme fights.
By X.05 Relic weapons should begin and cap out at 10 levels under the raid weapons, similarly introduce relic armor that can be a middle ground between base tome and tome augment gear. So in this case 725 gear for the 7.0 raid series. By 7.15 allow you to upgrade these to 735 and in 7.25 have these relic weapons and relic armor become augment-able and usable in the field exploration content. So there is something to chase and build to for future content that isn't just going to be thrown to the floor by 7.2.
They could create a rogue like dungeon crawl that starts you in the Lv.91 dungeon and you can climb your way up to the Lv.100 expert dungeons but each dungeon progressively gets harder and harder, and each boss killed provides a choice of random buffs & monster enhancements. Something that could also be introduced into X.05.

I completely agree. I did all three savage raid tiers during Endwalker. Eric in P1S was my first ever savage raid fight I stepped into that was still current content. By the end, beating Athena in P12S wasn't even fun. I was just glad it was over with. I am questioning if raiding is for me now and I haven't stepped into a savage or even an extreme trial during DT because of it.
But, because of that, I only really log in to tend to my plants in my house. I have nothing to do! I cannot wait for the exploration zone to get here... I spent so much time playing around in Bozja during ShB. I miss being able to play with my friends in FF14 like that.

I mainly play 14 for raids. The problem I have with them is that it takes too long for new tier to come out, there's only 12/xpac, they do not unlock the gear grind earlier (before the new 24m drops or right as it does), if you're very unlucky with the rolls and are not in a static, it could take you months just to gear up one class, let alone any of the alts you wanna play to keep things fresh and the gearing itself is boring af. I only started playing at the tail end of SHB, it hasn't change since at all. It isn’t needed for dungeons, alliance raid or even extreme. It makes them easier, sure, but the only reason you ever want/need BiS is to do ultimate. I am glad I wasn't the only one to see this. I feel it is pretty boring and unfair to people who don't want to raid to only have that be the new content in the game before the next major patch after an expansion launch. The only content that non raid players can do is return to older content from past expansions which I think for people who played longer, have already done. It can be easy to dismiss the point and say "Go play other games" without considering, maybe they just want to play this game for a few hours or maybe they already played another game and just came back to play FFXIV. I know they want to have more people engage in raiding, but if someone truly does not want to do it or does not find it appealing, they won't engage with it at all and that is fine, there should be some new content to go along with the raid tier so the savage raiding is not the only new content that is available for players (also other content beside the savage raids would be a nice decompress!). Not to mention the exhaustion of weekly raiding only to have to wait another week or even 3-8 weeks just to get what you need for gear upgrades (unless you have a crazy amount of gil for merc runs)!

I came to the realization a year or so ago that this game isn't really going to change in the ways I'd want it to. Not saying it won't have fun content that we can enjoy but it's got that problem of being too big of a game. They'll occasionally throw something in that surprises us, but it will still be within their established formula. It's become a slow cumbersome beast that will only venture so far before it needs to rest. While some groups of players will find a way to make their own fun, a lot of us need a bit more structure than that. SE has been making this game way more single-player friendly for those interested in the story content, which is good but ultimately ignores the bigger problem of what to do with the majority of its players once they catch up.
The game just needs more community driven content and Field Operations can be a stopgap for a little while, but it needs more. They've been trying a few things like the Variant dungeons and Island Sanctuary but then don't do enough it incentivize them in the long run. If they could find something that non-raiders really want to engage with that isn't a mostly single-player Endeavor and has a good gameplay loop a lot of the complaints about content drought will go away.

It's... it's a live service MMO. You're asking for an entire full expansion's worth of content to be dumped all at once instead of being released gradually throughout the expansion's life cycle. The way they do things now enables the most amount of players to engage as possible. It gives people time to catch up and get to where the content you're asking for takes place, as well as keeping the game's more casual playerbase coming back more regularly instead of dipping entirely until the next major expansion. A lot of the stuff you're complaining about not being there is also stuff you're saying you know is coming???
Maybe I only feel that way because I've only just "caught up" to current content after 2-3 years of playing at my own pace. Engaging with what sounded fun to me in the moment. There's still so much I could GO BACK and do that I only glossed over before. Coming from PSO2 NGS, where you get 20 minutes of story every year (hell, the word "story" doesn't even appear on this year's roadmap for the game lmao) accompanied by NOTHING ELSE but number go up and MAYBE one EX-styled boss fight... It's just hard for me to wrap my head around this take. It sounds like someone with plenty complaining that they still don't have enough. Or maybe I'm missing the point, idk.

And for what? So I can play Barbies Dream House?
Don't get me wrong, I like having a housing system, but I want it to be filled with things from my adventures. But the thing is, I don't actually HAVE any adventures. I just have a routine. I don't run into random people and meet them and get enraged with what they are doing, or get asked from my guild to run something, just so I can have a screenshot that I can fondly cherish.
WoW is the opposite. Must have 2000+ rating, achivements, 5000+ gear score, on several toons, raider io, dps checks, etc. etc. to get your foot in the door. WoW got more things to do, but good luck getting anyone to do it with.

The Overworld in FF14 needs to be changed. Add things to do and explore. More jumping puzzles out in the world that lead to really nice looking areas or maybe some notes u find that explains some lore about things. Add Treasure maps for solo players without the whole instance stuff. You just get a map and try to figure out where to go and can get hints if needed. There needs to be something to do to have players run around zones and not be empty. This is only the tip of what they could do.
3 City states and Characters in the story/random npcs in the city should be rework. your telling me after all this we dont see limsa get bigger with us allying with other places and getting more trade and etc etc? i think the 3 cities need to get bigger to not only hold more players and reduce lag in one area being over populated but also show how the city grows with more cultures coming in as we ally with different people.
Zones in Base ARR need to be combined i cant with how many loading screens it is these days. We know they can do this as they have already done so.

I think they only need to do about 2 things differently to make .0 work:
-Expand the fate system take a note from treasure hunting and if in a full party then ever so often suck players into instance just instead of rng and a bunch of trash make it one arena critical engagement styled fight. (For unique loot and a heap of bi-colored gems)
-Relic Weapon prep have the job gear weapon augmented though a mix of style of Wonderous Tails, Treasure Trove and ARR books (Consistent progress and random objectives some new and some old content.) resulting in a let's say +15 ilvl increase and a precursor for the upcomming relic content. (Outgearing crafted weapons by 5ilvl)
Mind that's my proposition for fixing the launch patch I don't think they need anything crazy in .0, however in .1 they needs something more time stretchy and substantial like you mentioned an exploratory zone or something.

Hey. Thanks for your thoughts on the matter. I agree with what you said there. I am the leader of a small FC since Stormblood and played since HW. Since the end of 6.0 it has become very hard to keep me and my people engaged. There are only so many maps you can run before it becomes stale. We are "midcore". We do not raids, EX, unreal, because of drama potential. We enjoyed our grinds.
I do get that Bozja, etc. takes time, but why not start with the X.05 with your basic farming a material you need for your upcoming shiny weapon?
The content they deliver needs to last longer, because of the longer patch cycle. But if you are not raiding or doing PvP, what is there to do together(!) currently? Maps again that we are doing since the end of Endwalker?
And I am tired of people saying "Go play something else". I am. I would more, but there are no people that will take the reign as leader for a while, because they play something else. I want to keep this circle alive, but SE makes this for a non-raiding group very hard these days.

It is a little weird how little content is available at expansion launch. For normal mode players its the MSQ, two extra dungeons, six zones for fates, and gathering/crafting. The MSQ is a lot of content, but it's also almost entirely single player. People who want to do level cap stuff will typically try to get through it quickly, since so much is locked behind MSQ progression. After MSQ it's pretty much just leveling jobs and fate grind. This is definitely where it would be nice to have a good, long term goal like a relic weapon.
Raids come out early enough, but normal raid gear is a weekly grind and becomes basically obsolete with the first round of crafted gear.
There is always the backlog of content, but it would be nice if there was more current expansion content.

Like another Eureka zone for example. The fact that a new pve zone isn't coming in 7.1 is an issue. And let's be honest here, the MSQ of dawntrail was not good. It was worse than Stormblood imo. So I think that left a sour taste in peoples mouth and most just hopped off the game and haven't been on since...they need to do better with writing, character development and make YOU the player the main focus again.

Just the inherent structure of the patches, outside of them taking ages, has becoming more and more of an issue. I feel every patch should have some big content towards all levels of players, may it be raiding or casual or in-between. And I don't count some new rewards to the treasure map as actual content. Things we can actively do, perhaps weekly like the custom deliveries but then they split those up between battle and gathering, excluding certain type of players. (And no, 15-30min events should not be the standard we agree upon for those things either. Square Enix do better.)
Next to the imbalance of content there's also a massive issue of the FFXIV reward system. Now don't get me wrong, I've had some of my best laughs together with friends or simply reading the shout chat in Diadem, Eureka or Bozja. But things like Alliance Raids are often fairly dead on arrival due to them not giving any significant gear, it's often for glamour or that one coin you get at the end. Alliance Raids are longer and longer released after the Savage Tier has come out, give us a different stat-set to play around with. Perhaps some pieces that fill up gaps. The relics have this very same issue, they only become truly useful in their final step (outside of niche instances of older Ultimates) when we are pretty much in the downtime towards the next expansion. It doesn't entice players to stick to that content, or even motivate them to invest their time within such content longer.
Structurally more issues are becoming apparent with these longer downtimes between patches. And perhaps Squeenix wants to gather more towards the players that log in once or twice a week, as they've made relics take way less time investment as well among other content. Or those who treat this game as a second life to hang out with friends standing in Limsa, which I agree is also the MMO aspect but then without content. All I know is that it's a shame and it's makes me sad thinking back to what the game once was.

  • @rienquish1926

I totally agree with this, as someone who used to raid and go for bis gear during SHB and start of EW, once I got tired of the constant gear grind and bit burnt out with raiding, in post Endwalker there has been nothing to do for long time players who are not raiding. I'm so sick of grinding treasure maps with friends that I haven't even went into the new one yet because I know it's going to be exactly the same as before, in EW they even made the version where you pick a door shorter than it used to be making it even easier to reach the last room.
Originally I was really exited for the variant and criterion dungeons but then I got everything from the first one in a day and was only left with Criterion which is similar to savage which I didn't really have much energy to try and clear with randoms. To add insult to injury, the relic weapons in EW were a joke compared to any earlier version, the whole of post EW felt like SE didn't want us to actually play the game as you could get everything done so fast and easy. My husband who has grinded every single relic from all earlier expansions, refused to do any in EW because they were too easy and felt pointless. He wants to play the game but hasn't been interested to ever since post EW because there simply isn't anything for him to do in the game. He even ground some of the S-rank hunt mounts just for something to do and is now left with nothing.
The only thing keeping both of us subbed at this point is owning houses we don't want to lose to automatic demolition which is a really ridiculous way for SE to keep people subbed every other month. They need to do better at adding more content like eureka and bozja for people who just want to grind towards a goal. Relics used to be a great way for someone to sink all their time into just to get them all and if you didn't have time for that just get one or two. It was great optional content that kept players engaged between patches, even if it always comes pretty late in the patch cycle.
I feel like in recent years SE has gotten terrified of releasing grindy content that everyone won't have time to complete everything for and has focused way too much on solo play, it all has made the game feel very lonely and it's pretty hard to meet new people and make friends (to replace the once who quit for lack of stuff to do) if you are not into the whole RP and clubbing scene in the community. And sure, for new players there is so much to do in the game that I've seen many struggle with what to focus on first, but as someone who's already done most of it, I'd still like to have something more to do without having to start a new character and do it all over again...

Hey Kaiyoko I really feel that us paying players need to get together and tell the square enix shareholders/CEO etc to give their main earner more money; pull their heads in or we quit! Imagine if even an 8th of what they wasted on nft pipe dreams was given to Yoshi P? They need to remember that this game is their biggest earner (their bread and butter) and they need to re-invest in it. We can point out things we do not like/need improvement but his budget is not big enough to make more than a limited amount of changes at a time. This to me is the logistical reality.
I honestly feel the real problem is that he has delivered a decent product on a 'smell of an oily rag' budget for so long they see it as normal.
I really do feel like the problems are not going to go away without the company giving the team more money. They pushed two expansions into one which made sense at the time during the pandemic but it ended the story arcs of most peoples favorites then did something very risky; a story reset. Leaving us floating with no tension/no agon and no group content other than fall guys (I did like the criterion dungeons). The company should have given them more money for that story reset so they could have given us more content between. They do not understand how risky that move was. They need to appreciate us; their paying audience. Its not Yoshi P that makes those decisions. Imagine if he had the budget WOW has!
Thank you for your content and fashion reports. I agree with your critiques and could write list after list of what I think they need to do but without the company giving the team more money I dont know how they can pull off all the new things plus adding other new things and changing older stuff (like the utter dogsh*t retainer menu).
We the paying players need to tell the company, its shareholders and CEO to re invest more in their main earner or they will lose it! Secure a decent budget for the devs!

XIV will be used to fund and supplement other games without only a modest amount being stashed away to keep servers online. The Dawntrail funding was increased only by 10% on top of what was spent on Endwalker (EW was around 33%). If you compare this to lets say.... It makes me wonder if Yoshida could expand the game if SE allowed BSU3 to keep at least 50% of what the game makes on sales and re-occurring revenue streams.

Can I throw my hat in the ring. I think the problem with FFXIV is there isn't enough content where you can meet in the middle. POTD is my most done content because no matter where you are in the game you unlock it as soon as level 30. Which means everyone can meet and do that content together. It's the only piece of content like this, it doesn't matter if i'm in ARR and you've already beaten the whole game you can meet up and do POTD together. Why there isn't more content like that is baffling to me. The other deep dungeons should of been on ships in Limsa that allow players who havn't beaten stormblood to go to the tower and do that content after they beat the baseline POTD storyline. I know some folks will be like "but you'll be thrust into higher in content as a level 30" and i'm like so? I had no issue learning my 60 rotation on the fly as a level 30 why not let me do the same with other deep dungeons? The EW deep dungeon should of also been accessible w/o the story beats in some way to not spoil it for ARR people but still allow more forward progression that people from all walks of content can meet in the middle with.
Why we don't have more POTD style content where a person can get on a boat in Limsa or go to an expedition guy in Uldah is beyond me, as the game gets further and further along this game NEEDS more content where end game players can meet with new ones, as the gap between the two is getting so far apart it's almost impossible to play with other people and both get a shared benefit from it w/o making a whole new character or simply tagging along and watching them do their thing from afar.

I dislike WoW in general, but the fact they offer Mythic+ Dungeons mean that I can do some challenging content that does not require the level of organization that a raid entails. It's also repeatable content, which is important, because in FFXIV there really isn't much repeatable content that *also* feels rewarding. I really think the small curve of item upgrades (where theres only 2 real tiers, of tomestone level of dungeons, and raid tier thats about 10 levels ahead) is far too limiting.

What I always say (sadly), if the pandemic didn't happened and WoW was in such a bad state during that (BFA and SL), XIV would have never ever gotten such a raise in players, simply because the games formula is very very bad overall.
It's always the same stuff during the same patch cycles (x.1, x.2, etc) which is always very very low time needed to clear / do too. Yes Eureka and Bozja happened, but that is also not for everyone and the more general content really isn't holding anyone for longer then a month.
Then there is the "Only play for as long as you want and come back later" saying of SE, but let's be real, that's just a weak excuse to make such low amounts of content.
And then there is also housing, if you ever had a house you already get hold hostage by SE to keep it, even if you don't feel like playing for weeks or months.
XIV is really just driven by the (E)RP Player Base mostly, if those doesn't exist, XIV probably would die in a instant.

I am more of a Mabinogi player than a FF14 player but I have played a bit of FF14 and talk to new players Mabi players who played FF14. Both games actually have a lot of similarities however FF14 is mostly a game driven by Story Content and Raids and Mabinogi is driven by the level of the freedom the game gives you and it's community. You play Mabinogi the way you want to and you have access to roughly 90% of the game content right after you start playing. We do have Premium Service but it is 100% optional and despite it being a gacha game just about any cash shop item can be obtained for gold on the Auction House/Player Market. There is something for everyone whether you enjoy difficult endgame content or just a casual player. Many Mabi players barely do any story at all and play mostly for the fashion system and having fun with friends.
FF14 has better Story Quests and better Raids however they are really lacking in actual life skill content. A mmo is supposed to feel like a new world, it is supposed to feel alive. Not just repetitive Raids all the time. If they don't try something new eventually they will get some serious competition. Eventually we will get Ashes of Creation and the only reason Mabinogi is not well known is cause of it's age and outdated engine. But with plans to upgrade Mabinogi to Unreal 5 Engine I believe it will become a serious rival for FF14. They should start trying out new ideas for FF14 and the sooner the better. If they start trying new engaging content now they can do it at a slow pace to give players time to adjust to it. But if they don't do anything until the game gets serious competition players will complain and leave if things move to slow and if they try to do it to fast same bad result, some players will get annoyed by it.

I do believe they should do more evergreen overwold content, but people would still find it boring after a while.
    - While, for evergreen content you would need to give the players a good reward, that might lock people into grinds they do not enjoy, or exhaust themselves in.
Complaining content takes long to come is kinda dumb.
    - It takes long to develop. Content is a lot slower to make, than to consume.
    - Putting more people inside a car doesn't make it go faster. (for those who would say hire more people, it would probably make it more convoluted to direct the game)
    - They could deceive us by skewing content a patch on this expansion so we get earlier on the next, but it would affect the current patch.
Its pretty disingenous to ask for faster content. People to blind themselves when criticizing the cadency of work of others.
Try not to make FFXIV your only mean of entertainment. You would appreciate it more when you play it.

One thing that is infinitely frustrating is, there really is no real actual reason to explore the world of the game beyond the hub zones.
The only thing that gets you out there are hunts, fates, tiny sidequests, gathering, and societal quests, and if you really wanna be picky about it; sightseeing points.
But there's genuinely no real distractions to engage with in the area zones, so once you're done with a location in the story. You really don't have any reason to ever go out there and explore for exploration's sake.
WoW litters their world with a ridiculous amount of seemingly random stuff to do, it definitely screams "open world syndrome" at first, but now that I'm settling back in it just feels like ffxiv needs something like that too.
while ffxiv's open zones are vastly underutilized.
Something to draw people out of their club venues and city state zones.
also let us use mounts in solution nine PLEASE

Yeah, I had to take more extended breaks with Dawntrail because after playing the game since ARR, it just feels the same aside from the updated MSQ each expansion. I understand why SE does it in order to make an experience people can anticipate what's gonna happen each patch and plan their time to enjoy it, but it still feels boring to me to know what's roughly coming each patch in an expansion. The one change I am looking forward this time is the fact that they're adding a lot more content vs previous expansions (field zone, criterion dungeons, crafting area, deep dungeon update, blue mage update, beastmaster) on top of the usual stuff. Maybe I've just been playing 14 for too long, but if the formula doesn't seem like it'll ever change, then I might need to take an even longer break and maybe come back after skipping the next expansion.

Currently the rank 2 scholar in savage, but I've kinda just quit. I only really log in so my house doesnt demolish, but find myself enjoy other MMO's like WoW and Lost Ark (lol) significantly more. WoW has that open world feeling, players around you, delves, traveling to a dungeon for M+, the openness of raiding etc and gear progression that leaves you feeling engaged. FFXIV raiding is fun, but even then- the server is increasingly worse with lag, so much so it probably limits the kind of fight designs they can make for their staple feature every xpac. Gear progression in XIV is also stale. Do weekly expert with people you wont ever talk to or see again. Get tomes. Buy thingy. Get gear from savage (if you win rolls in pugs) or your turn for loot distribution.
Really wish to see them lean into the MMO element... aswell as RPG element. Which to be honest, the game is lacking both the MMO and RPG in the game. There's no class diversity, no talents, no build diversity, no real flavor, classes are getting more and more bland and straight forward. You only have raid, you queue into everything. Instance instance instance. People often just want some progression treadmill to work towards something, something to spend their free time or unemployment getting that "fulfillment" of accomplishment, something FFXIV completely doesnt have anymore. Even if its something like mounts or glam, savage criterion had like none of it.

The game was great for my first expansion but I think there is a decent amount of people are in the same boat as me. We started just before Endwalker, got to have alot of time experiencing the great story, and then around 6-12months after Endwalker is out we finally finish the story and start trying some raids/bozuya ect/doing relic weapons; once you do hardcore raiding for one current patch/research how to do relic weapons do them abit/do some bozuya the veil over your eyes is just practically instantly ripped away from over your face and you realize "Wait, so they just do the same shit each and every expansion? like pretty damn close to a 1:1 ratio..?" and when Dawntrail came out and the dissapointing story came it just compounded onto the lack of hope you already had after realizing how much of not an MMORPG FF14 really is and well, we cancelled out subs so long as we don't have housing, or are guilted by friends to keep it active just so you can stay in contact and "hehe wanna do DaiLy RouLettEs TogEhteR for The 894th tIme?" where everyone will inevitably mention something like "haha I'm to fall asleep x.x" "omg I nearly fell asleep just now haha" without realizing how bad of a problem that statement itself is.

I feel as if eversince Yoshi P admitted he wanted people to play other games (himself included) and how he made room for releases to not overlap games, it's become far more noticable that he is afraid to give people "all" the content at launch or by first patch thinking people would burn out instantly from the FOMO bug.
Thing is the average MMO player isnt taking an hour or two to clear a dungeon back in the 2000's. We are mostly optimizing machines and we WILL clear content instantly the moment it comes out or share resources/datamine and more to get what we want ASAP. he is curating the experience of the mmo thinking slowing us down is a good thing but it only suffocates that middle core of players that MMO games rely on.
All they had to do was release the first relic step in 7.1 at the bare minimum...

I want to like this video twice, agreed with everything you've said here.
    My thoughts\wishes:
    1. SE needs to make a better story. After DT I felt quite sad and frustrated because it was the first time when story completely ruined my immersion. I just couldn't get into DT, no character is close to me, I predicted every major twist and last zone was missed opportunity. There were so many bizzare choices, weird pacing and so on. I enjoyed every story so far, yes even ARR so I hope SE will deliver something better.
    2. Make world more alive. That's what you've said so I don't put too much thoughts here, again 14 is different game yes, but it shouldn't stop SE from making the world more alive and engaging. Eureka and Bozja is one of my fav content in the game, and I hope to see more of it.
    3. More midcore content. It's a weird term but I would love to see something between alliance raid normal difficulty and extremes. It can be anything from raids, dungeons to solo duties. And that brings me to my last and probably unpopular opinion.
    4. More hard solo content. Yes it's an mmo, yes there are DD solo and bozja duels. But it can be much more! Imagine BLU Carnivale but for every job? Or something else you can do solo but it takes a lot of skill to finish. I think that would be great.
At the end of the day 14 is a great game, I love it. And I hope they will continue to improve and improvise, because stagnation will ruin this game 100%. They do experiment, I can see that (upcoming chaotic raids, stuff like island sanctuary and so on), but imo it's not enough.
    Thanks

I’ve dabbled in Ultimates but dislike them because it’s a coin toss to see whether your group will stick it out and if it breaks apart then you are forced to spend days/weeks reprogging. It’s exhausting so I’d appreciate some more relaxed stuff with longevity.

FFXIV has become *extremely" formulaic and the .0 patches are the *most* formulaic of them all. Its quite frustrating as there is not much to do with friends. And doing things with friends should be what the core of MMOs are.
If you love raiding, its fantastic. But if you don't like raiding, or you want something more casual to do with friends.. we have.. fates? maps?
They even doubled down with the criterion 4-man savages, and the deep dungeons which end up mostly being solo-ops for achievement grinders due to the pain of death and the time investment required to actually clear.

SE needs to pump out more content that isn't just seasonal events and moogle tomes inbetween patches after the initial expac launch and content drought pre-8.0. Pre Dawntrail wait ended up having FFXIV exhaust all of their collab events.
With the extended patch cycle, they should unlock the raid tier on the odd patches immediately. It should not take about 30 something weeks or a patch and a half for the savage raid tier to be unlocked to farm gear. One of my main complaints with the limited and unrewarding rewards structure is that that gearing up more than one job/role in savage takes forever.

I used to really embrace the "just play other games" argument but I've kind of gotten into the terrifying mindset of "when did I last log in, is my house on auto-demolish" mindset (and thankfully I've somehow managed to keep it). I think the sentiment comes from a good place not wanting people to be addicted to an MMO which is a far more prevalent problem, but I think people by design want to work towards things if they are in a healthy mindset. Its why if I talk to friends in a call while playing FF14 I will roam around in circles without thinking just to stimulate my digital avatar like it has irl limbs that don't want to go numb from being a coach potato. It's a hard line to walk between healthy grind and addiction, but games like OSRS are still doing well - a much older game where the entire premise is enjoyable, vibe grinds that are personal to each and every player. We need that every person content. The raiders will get burnt out without it, and the casuals will get bored after clearing the same milk-toast dungeons in roulette. It's like you said, mid-core is important because it brings everyone together. It felt like an MMO while in a packed Eureka server and it was the most fun I had playing.

As much as he likes to act humble, YoshiP is as arrogant as those he replaced.
He doesn't look at anything in terms of what players are asking for.
He looks at it as "No. This is the way I like it. So it's the way it must be"
If what he wants, and the players want happen to overlap... then it's a happy coincidence. And it's played off as "YoshiP listening to the players".
And so... you see the same routine over and over.
When asked about changing up the way dungeons are presented, he said flat out that his formula - or a "package" as he described it as I recall - is the perfect balance.
And so.. .dungeons will never change. Enjoy your trash corridors and boss platforms.
He'll never properly fix the housing system. Because it fits *his* vision of what good housing is. And so it will never change. He'll just keep adding band-aids to a broken mess. Last I saw, houses will have options for different interior sizes. So... small house.. but huge inside? That's the epitome of lazy. Just recreate the housing system from scratch already. But no... he won't. Because it's YoshiP's vision.. and to YoshiP, YoshiP is always right.

From synced down content forcing classes to mash 1-2-3 for 15 min, to every class sharing the same damage buttons with different colors, burst windows, shared role actions etc, it's boring as heck. Oh wow a level 100 kill? Generic damage button. Make classes dynamic, completely different from eachother, different base GCD for tanks, healers etc, new mechanics, multiple ways to build your class and you'll see people will stay engaged 10 times more. tbh even as someone who has just started their savage raid journey after almost 10 years of playing the game.
I don't even know why they slot the Ultimate as being content. Most players aren't even going to do the Ultimate. So it's basically not content at all.
The rest they have slated for 7.1 will be done within a single day or week of it coming out.
And as for the Chaotic Raid... if it really is Savage difficulty - it's coming out late 7.1 when it should come out at the start as a "Catch up - Gear source"
It's already a huge ask of the Western playerbase (I know in Japan they do Savage as duty roulettes) to organize 24 people for something that could be Savage level.
Savage Raiders even my very new group will be bis by the time this Chaotic raid comes out so the additional 730 source isn't enticing. The only way midcore to casuals will be able to see this content is if discord groups form and if they can be "Piloted" through the content similar to a Eureka boss fight. It really feels like content that was made for Japan Only players. I got no clue where Chaotic raids came from, they didn't talk about that stuff before launch. We should have gotten the first part of the field op to farm a relic weapon.

As a player that started back in 6.1 going into 6.2, I never really experimented much with content besides doing the main story, but when I started to branch out a bit more and to see what the optional content was like, not just the raids, it opened my eyes to how fun it can be to do massive exploration zones, and working towards shared goals. I don’t believe myself to be the most knowledgeable on the topic of what’s best for XIV, but the sentiment I feel isn’t one of contempt or indifference, more that of being a bit disappointed and praying it gets better - which let’s hope things will. I’m still someone that enjoys playing XIV on the regular, even when I take small breaks to play other games, and I’m still hopeful for the future of the game because I want to do well and I want people to be excited for it so I think people’s patience will be rewarded sooner than later, but I don’t blame anyone feeling like the game is in a steep decline due to the stagnation of the cycles between patches and the content provided. I see myself still being around, even after Dawn finishes properly, and I think it’ll be worth the wait, but that’s just my opinion.

What ffxiv idd on expansions before ShB was often add stuff that is actually new
    HW introduced flying
SB introduced deep diving under water
    ShB introduced ?
    EW introduced ?
    DT introduced?
it lacks innovation for something new, i always kept saying to friend ffxiv needs job advancements, like they did originally
Gladiator -> Paladin (adv. -> Royal Paladin ?
Archer -> Bard (adv. -> Elite Archer ?
    Machinist -> (adv -> Gunslinger?
Dark Knight -> (adv. -> Blood Knight?
you get the idea, in FF franchise we do have Black Wizard, Red Wizard, White Wizard, why not going a diff path like that
or give us more companions, companion content something new

They won't do subjobs or adv jobs because the Dev's are relatively bankrupt and the community is hyper casual. We will get more hallway dungeons and a few extra buttons to press in 8.0

Itemization is poor, the themepark is way, waaaay to strong in this game.

Yeah, the overall patch release cycle and gameplay of FFXIV have gotten extremely stale. Throne & Liberty has done a FANTASTIC job of showing how overworld content (i.e. *actual* MMO content, not instanced) can be done.

On PVP- yeah it’s fun daily content for people, but I will admit it’s probably one of the smallest areas of the game. I have been enjoying the hell out of mindlessly playing CC.

I feel now similar to how I felt during EW content drought, I want to play the game, but I *feel* as though there is nothing to do

They need to start falling off of instanced dungeons in my opinion. FFXI and RS do this well, where it makes it feel like an MMO, you always see the community around the game's world.

S.E enjoys the concept of recycling. Thus it becomes repetitive and boring. I'm out.

Having a reason to go in to the open world would be nice.
