R.I.P. dad 11 years now I can still remember you singing this everytime I hear it, thanks for all the music otherwise I wouldn't be here
see ya soon pops, life is short
This songs brings back happiness and the band. Oh to be young again.
One of the most underrated bands
One of the most beautifully written songs of all time.
really
@@ethantastic Yep.
@@AdamMontgomery1 Get better ears. Sounds like some awful band like Everclear from the awful downturn of the late 90s. Or, a very poor man's Replacements.
@@afmartin2734 Well, you're here listening to it. And I didn't say it was one of the best sounding songs of all time, I meant lyrically. Also, I was under the impression that the Replacements were the poor man's Replacements. I guess you just prefer the bubble gum stuff though...
Dude, if you think they sound like Everclear it's time you heed your own advice regarding ears.
GO LOAF GO LOAF GO LOAF
Sneed
Stuck a Sneed in your LOAFbone...all I ever wanted was to be your Chuck
formerly chucks
Whenever I am having a bad day... I get off work and blast this. "You're not the one that let me down. But thanks for offering."
great line, great song!
the archers hit the jackpot the first time around with this track kicking off a fantastic debut album.
GO LOAF!!!
Thank you based anon
This song is like Archers of Loaf's gold soundz
Jamie Carrick yes exactly 😎
lmao too accurate
It's ten times better, though.
oh shit.
Agree😊
2:04 of pure perfection. You can't add one thing or take one thing without ruining it. It is always just seconds away from falling apart just like all of us.
Just saw them live they still got it!!!!
I've never even heard this song but it takes me back to my early teen years. That transition from the 90s to the 2000s. We will never forget that special time. The economy was great, the internet was new, everything seemed like endless possibilities. Don't forget how it felt. I know I never will. YOU'VE GOT MAIL.
I get that feeling from this (see link), from my early teen years. You won’t find it nostalgic, but _may_ (or not) enjoy. Waving “hello” from your future. ruclips.net/video/omEX35pbelI/видео.html
Sounds amazing, parents raised me in the 2000s and still dress like they were young back then
Literally one of the worst periods of music history. I blame the Offspring and Green Day, the Goo Goo Dolls, Third Eye Blind, Hanson, etc, etc. Just awful.
@@afmartin2734 What are some of your favorite artists?
It’s music for people who barely made it out of highschool before the internet started ruining childhood.
Love it. Brings back memories of the immortal chapel hill, carrboro scene. Classic
My anthem...
“You’re not the one who let me down but thanks for offering”
This song is so special to me. I just tried to explain it a few times for a comment but I couldn’t. So so lovely.
WHY IS THIS SO HECKIN CUTE AND VALID???
Sometimes music doesn't have to make sense. And to me that's perfect. How can you feel down listening to this. This rocks!
❤ I went in blind to see them do a festival show. Headliner and all so, lotsa songs and encores and all but I never got bored. Not even for a second. Not even when they played a slow song did it make me ponder if i can make it to use the john and return to my spot before it ended.
Did they even play any slow songs?
So they even have any??
Kinda reminds me of Guided by Voices, maybe not exactly the same live energy or anything but where I feel like even if they DO have any slower tunes, it's not like it's gonna be a cheesy 'hold up yer lighters' for this mid-tempo power ballady type thing -ya feel me?
They're like, too cool for that.
And I didn't even know them
In fact, they may have even been playing their most well-known record from back in the 80s start to finish and not once did I ever get that "only in it for the money" or band reunion cash-grab county -fair vibe that Billy Corgan is always talking about the Smashing Pumpkins trying so hard to be the antithesis of...
So, ...
And I should say, I'm actually a FAN of the smashing Pumpkins. I've seen them DOZENS of times, and even them, like most bands I've gone to see live a bunch: HAVE played the occasional imperfect show, if not a downright, bad or boring or otherwise unimpressive gig.
Don't get it twisted, I still think for your money the smashing pumpkins are the ABSOLUTE BEST real live playing rock and roll band still gigging today and that's from ANY era or generation or genre.
This is mainly due to my opinion that Billy corgan continually delivers the unexpected and plays setlists filled with numbers out of left field: things that shouldn't work, but usually do.
And I'm conceiting here they don't Always do
Sometimes the best encore selections don't work out on paper.
They don't look like they should satisfy or rock
But they do.
And sometimes he'll be pissy and torture the audience with a 40 minute mostly instrumental new and unrecorded song.
Sometimes the best audience favorite songs won't be recorded for albums.
Sometimes the best songs recorded for the albums will be relegated to b-sides if not left out of being produced all-together
It's these kinda challenging things that make them so interesting and entertaining and just they're so well rehearsed they're difficulty is large. The technical aspects of playing guitar, which I know my way around.
😊😊 That being said archers of loaf are almost the opposite. And if not totally conversely that then they don't seemingly concern themselves with any of those Aforementioned inherently intellectual aspects
At least that was my read on the situation, and again I'm admitting I'm not even sure what they played if it even was in a classic album run through start to finish or not
And again I'm also not sure if they did play any slow songs or not.
So take all of this with a grain of salt
But take it.
Take it hard
Take it raw
Take it easy
Rock on!
😂🤘
Archers of Loaf absolutely rock!
I can't wait to hear more.
What's your favorite albums/songs?
As in what should I check out next (I'd rather click on a RUclips video here, but it's not necessary. I don't have to have a rich produced band with budgets to be entertained. I try not to be too prejudiced. Again, I know my way around a guitar so I know how hard it is to create excitement around honest good music
.... In this culture.
💕🙏🤟

Great song that I've known about for 15+ years. Based 4chan ad
Theocrats, channers, enbies, old school MTV fans, old indieheads and new fans. This song truly is the great uniter.
Catchiest, greatest indie-rock song of the 90s!
Actual good song, thanks adnon
Usually I get bored of songs after a couple of weeks of listening to em repeatedly, but not this one!
I've listened to this song at least a hundred times in the past couple days sooo good.
Old-school Chapel Hill band I hadn't heard in a long time...until today.
Archers, Polvo, Superchunk - North Carolina you had to be there.
archers of loaf - christ what a great name for a band.
Incredibly based anon with some archers of loaf. Now all you gotta do is advertise Might, their second best song.
Wrong, is the correct answer.
I'm so curious, what does this slang mean: "Incredibly based anon with some archers of loaf"? I see a bunch of similar phrasing and I'm feeling old.
@@ejspookyify Someone bought an ad on 4chan and instead of peddlin' dick pills or whathaveyou, linked to this video. Anon = anonymous user. Based = groovy. Jannies = janitors (4chan's equivalent of hall monitors and certified party poopers). Basically "Kudos to the cool cat who ponied up to share some Archers of Loaf".
@Every Woman Jobs To The Wall It's not even remotely close to meaning the same thing but it does fill the "slang with positive connotations that became a catch-all for everything that's hella fine". Nonchalantess, swagger, efortless coolness, etc. are better terms but don't have the same ring to them.
i fucking love this song
One of my faves still jamming till this day
I knew them from the compilation "Lounge Ax" but, for some reason, never paid attention to their music. Today I rediscovered in my vinyl collection "Vee Vee", which I bought years ago and never played (it was still in the plastic). What a record! what a band! Now I go browsing their discography...
90s indie rock is truly the most based genre
@Nick Gurr The novel by Stephen King
You gotta go back.
.
If you’re using the term ‘based’ correctly then NS Black Metal or Mr. Bond take the cake

This is just a great song period. Very underrated band.
Awesome band. Props bmx videos have always have gotten me in touch with so much good music.

“You’re not the one who let me down
But thanks for offering”
Archers of Loafcross brought me here, again.
Also: “all I ever wanted was to be your spine”
I first heard this song when I did a mixtape exchange with the band "Hey Mercedes" back in 2005-ish. I will forever thank for them for exposing me to the Archers of Loaf amongst other band.
One of the weirdest songs ever but it never gets old. My dad and i love to play this in the car and we listen to it so much. Its so strange but theres just something so catchy and fun about it.
Why is it weird? Other than singing there's a chance that thingsll get weird - that's a possibility?
@@jaysharpESQ it’s very different from what I usually listen to, and the overall feeling of it is weird, but that is not a bad thing. It’s so catchy!
@@All-ze9cl thanks for explaining that
Absolutely top10 band early-mid 1990s
Every time I think it's okay to listen to this again, the nostalgia knocks me down. I'm gonna go listen to this on repeat and cry for a while okay thanks bye.
Same here, woman. This shit came out of left-field but it ended up spreading like smallpox at an antivaxx kid’s slumber party amongst my friends and became the soundtrack to my teenage life
Tell us why. That’s why we are all here! :)
We need these things
Need these songs like milk
Props to Beavis and Butthead for introducing me to this beauty... I will listen to this until I die.
sound like a bitch . this indie pop garbage
B&B was responsible for me discovering some really great indie bands like Superchunk, The Meices, Helium, Seaweed, and Jawbox.
But for reals I think that's the guy who comes and fixes the butane tank.
I got it from a Props bmx video back in the day lol
Mallrats for me!
Have a wonderful day anon

ET CAMPOS UBI TROJA FUIT sneed
perfect song
Absolute classic.
Stuck a pin in your backbone
Spoke it down from there
All I ever wanted was to be your spine
Lost your friction and you slid for a mile
Overdone, overdrive, overlive, override
You're not the one who let me down
But thanks for offering
It's not a voice and I'm not around
But thanks for picking it
Up, on the radio
Sampled your rust from a faucet, I know
I got a magnet in my head, a magnet in my head
Extra thick, extra long, the way it was wasted
And there's a chance that things will get weird
Yeah, that's a possibility
Although I didn't do anything
No, I didn't do anything
All I ever wanted
All I ever wanted
All I ever wanted was to be your spine
All I ever wanted
All I ever wanted
All I ever wanted was to be your spine
You forgot the rest of the lyrics you inconsiderate bastard
LOVE this song
Incredible song, awesome band!
This is too good! Perfect song, just long enough.. done.
One of the best music videos ever in my opinion.
Discover them in 2018, still good to listen to
I really love to sing with song. One of the greatest lyrics of all time. The chorus can cheer me up when I’m down.

I think loaf is a pretty cool guy. Eh sticks pins in backbones and doesn't afraid of anything
Amazing band.
I'm listening to loaf while pinching a loaf before work.
10/10 would recommend.
The band is actually on tour now. If you feel comfortable venturing outside, you might be able to see them perform.

Odd video but this song is superb. So tight lyrically. A real highlight of the slacker rock,/alt-rock era.
You paid $60 for this?
Worth
Totally worth it. Needed that so much.
Pedro's South of the Border!!! Love it!
I make independent films as a hobby. If somehow I ever got someone to fund me, this would definitely be the closing song for one of my films. Any of them.

This song makes so much more sense when you watch the video. I love the message of the words and the video.
I like the moustache guy in the video. He has some good moves.
