Superchunk, Jawbox, Archers of Loaf, Shiner, Meices, and The Raymond Brake were recieving heavy rotation in my CD player in the 1990's... and nothing has changed. Great bands stand the test of time. I remember when the video for 'Hyper Enough' premiered on '120 Minutes' with Matt Pinfield hosting and Mac was the guest host as well as Jim or Jon... I think. I just remember being in 8th grade and staying up until 2am, and taping the episode on VHS. I'm 36 years old now and I am amazed that Superchunk are still around and making kick ass music. I remember Jon Wurster sent me an autographed drum stick for my 14th birthday and they, along with Kim Coletta from Jawbox, wrote back to me atleast three times.
You forgot Pavement!
I love all those bands you mentioned plus…how bout some Magnapop, Tracy Bonham, Sister7, Swervedriver, Throwing Muses, Breeders, That Dog, Tad, Eels, Velocity Girl, Cracker, Refreshments.
@@duckbrew school of fish…3 strange days!!
add a little Sunnyday real estate, afghan whigs, and at the drive in and im right with ya
@@DPRyan-vd5pp and Dinosaur Jr
"My hand on your heart had been replaced. And I thought it was you that I had chased."
I fucking love that line.
I got tickets to see them in October in Austin - 30th Anniversary of Foolish Album - first time I get to see them, I'm so pumped!! This album is so good and The First Part is forever my favorite song of theirs - perfect drum sound, great vibe, and every time I hear it, it takes me back to the first time I heard it. I remember buying the 7" single with Conneticut on it but soon after buying the full CD. Foolish really gives the feels and it's one of my all time favorite albums.
Just got mine for the Columbus show! Been a fan since No Pocky for Kitty, yet never saw them live. Time to rectify that.
Why is this song so fucking awesome?
Brilliant pop song. Thank you Superchunk for bringing so many smiles to my house!
Peyton Reed worked magic in his storytelling, direction, shot design, and vision for this song.
A chorus that is just made for screaming along to when drunk.
🎶And the names were all erased 🎶
I'm so grateful for your songs! You have no idea how you influenced people even in Brazil. Thank you.
vai Brasil
Thank you for all the great songs. There was a snowy day in Detroit that we crossed paths and it was a great show. I still bring up of the album streams and sharing with my kids
If you're a fan, you have to read their book "My Noise". You'll see this video so much more clearly. It is full of emotion and heartbreak. I love them for being so honest.
Amazing song.
Great song! Bet nobody remembers Superchunk...Obscure!!!
I do!!
I love this video. One of their best.
does anyone remember the band Picasso trigger? saw them in chapel hill a few times. that chick was a genius. I remember making my way home, driveway to driveway drunk, back to McCauley street. the nights passed fast, but they had this sparkle.
She's a civil rights lawyer in Richmond, VA now. Doing good, important work. But I'll always remember her for what a cunt she was in the GbV documentary Watch Me Jumpstart lol.
Makes me miss NC
The best song you've never heard- but please don"t listen, I'm keeping it for myself.
tim morrison Can't I borrow it? :(
tim morrison that's how fans of Husker Du were when that band was together . They were our secret . When people learned how good they were , people thought Husker Du 's fans were kind of like a cult or something . The songs were so personal , you couldn't really talk about them .
My buddy just said damn near the same thing. LOL.
Mine is 23 Minutes in Brussels by Luna, but I get why would you think that about this one!
Speak for the masses. I've listened to this song hundreds of times. This has always been one of my favorite albums. I first heard of this band, when I heard the song water wings in an old school snowboarding movie. Must have been the late 90s. That was one of those magic moments, as Ben E King said, where I got into a new genuine emo band. There have only been 30 or 40 of those moments in my whole life. When I die I will remember them fondly.
What are you talking about? Superchunk is huge and always has been. Other than Dischord, they paved the way for DIY labels (Merge), have influenced an ass load of huge indie/rock bands and still play huge music festivals on top of touring.
They put on one of the best sets at Riot Fest in Chicago this year...although Laura was missed.
Yeah...
As a bass player it hurt
The absolute best band in the world.
This was always a song I’d love to play after a long night of drinking back in the 90s
Perfect. Absolutely perfect.
That song reminds me of the good times in FLA and the 90's
Great song.
2:04 Jimbo Mathus and Katharine Whalen of the Squirrel Nut Zippers in the background.
And at 2:57 that's Tom Maxwell at right and possibly Ken Mosher at left.
I love this song, for ever and always!
Back on tour in 2018!
💙
Banger 🔥
Love this band!
Still.. my favorite music/ slash/ video
sempre vou me lembrar dessa música
is there such thing as underrated hit song
Yes! Everything Veruca Salt, Magnapop, JawBox and Throwing Muses does! Lol
Great thanks!
Great Song!!!
The finalé of this video is 👍🏼
Fucking Wurster, comedy legend.
Yet to this day he still has no star on the Newbridge Walk of Fame.
Interesting fact: Courtney Love herself actually felt threatened by Laura’s beauty when she met her. Noice.
👌
WHO ist Laura?
Courtney Love is the definition of insecure and I’m not saying that in a bad way, we all have insecurities. She probably saw something in Laura she couldn’t have, and translated that in her mind as physical beauty. When Superchunk was starting and Hole was starting Courtney had a bad smack habit and an extremely driven desire to get her band signed. She was known at all the Seattle Indie labels (that didn’t want to have anything to do with her despite her talent, because she would leave hypo-needles in her trail like breadcrumbs and throw manic fits). I like both bands tho, and I like to see women in Rockn’roll no matter what their looks, insecurities or drug problems. If they can rock, I don’t give a fuck about the gossip. Everyone deals with their problems in the best way they know how, I’m not gonna judge; because to me that’s what Rockn’roll is about; unfortunately the clique’s and “scenes” have a dark side and judgements are handed out for this and that: it’s bullshit!
I saw Superchunk live a few times, the best was at the Crocodile in Seattle they were so high energy barely pausing between songs and the audience was wild too!
Mac sort of resembles Travis Morrison of 'The Dismemberment Plan'.
What film/tv show is this song in? I know it’s in a particular scene but I can’t think of it off the top of my head...
I'm not sure if you're being ironic or are totally genuine. I mean, they're not superstars with daily air time or anything, but they have a pretty large fanbase. I think so, anyways.
Anyways, back to the song, how catchy is that guitar? It gets stuck in my head for days on end.
makes me think bout the replacements . Cool song . kina about breaking up with someone .
Super understand band.
silversun pickups the jurrasic years
well his was the first comment, hard to blame him..
Laura lookin like a 50’s Hollywood starlet …shit cmon
This a Cribs song for real tho
oh my head....now the goolag is putting 2 commercials before each vid....youtube: silencing conservatives and now 2 commercials before you watch the video you intended to be watching.....................the brownshirts are alive and well inside the goolag/youtube...fascist platform
