Idon'twanttochangemynameOK great stuff
Icky Mettle is one of the greatest albums of 90s. Easily top 10. Archers of Loaf are one of the most underrated bands of 90s. They’re so good that they should get inducted into the hall of fame.
I told someone yesterday that Icky Mettle is one of the most underrated albums of the 90’s. I used to play it on my college radio show at Ohio U. back in the mid 90s. Good times! Great tunes!
@@JPB71 you were totally right about that. 90s were great times to be young and beautiful and you also had a fantastic musical taste. It seems you play guitar so you can understand how good their riffs are. Their lead guitarist has given a really great volume to their music and their rhythm guitar is pure punk which is really cool. I don’t know if you can consider them as a math rock band as their lead guitar sounds, but if you call their music math rock, then they would be the best math rock band ever. Although Polvo & Duster really ROCK too but Archers of Loaf are at another level… .
I never considered them math rock. I didn’t really listen to those bands. I put AOL in with the indie/alternative bands I dug like Pavement, Sebadoh, Superchunk, Sonic Youth, etc. so many great bands back then! @@Abegoldhatch
This 1000000%. Still listening since they were underground.
@@geo_no_go2657 Your musical taste ROCKS. Glad for you and your great choice. May you always be happy… .
Such an amazing band. The first time I heard them way back in the day I was completely floored.
I was lucky. I saw the Archers at what they billed as their "last show" at House of Rock in Orlando (pretty sure that was the venue...?) They lit it up that night, but then again, they always did when live.
'93.....I was 16 and into pop punk...
and its gud
I was 6 and probably only listened to Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds and James Bond theme tunes.
I called it "t-shirt/shorts rock."
All bout music
Such a great album.
Shit man...I'm so sorry I grew up in the 90s and never heard this album. This is INCREDIBLY GOOD.
The vocals remind me of...me a lil bit, lol
I love this!
Who were you listening to instead?
I'm so full of self-indulgence to think that you'd like this song.
always thought it was "so fuckin' self indulgent"
@@tannerin 1:32 You're actually correct here
REAL BANGER
OMG, makes me feel so old1 I remember seeing them 69 I think at Einstein A Go Go in jax fl. yay aol
Einsteins had so many great artists, same with Milkbar. Pretty sure I know you. We were lucky to have a bunch of artists from the south east who regularly visit Jax. Just avoid the rampant skinheads and guaranteed a good time.

Love these dudes. Thanks for posting.
So brilliant!
Anna K love this band. Superchunks also one of my favs
Singer reminds me of private joker from full metal jacket!
It must be because he's born to kill
@@Koettnylle it's a statement on The duality of Man
He's 6'6 absolute beast of a man
i always preferred archers of loaf to pavement. ive always been partial to the weird, angular, kinda off kilter guitar sound of early to mid 90s indie, and have always liked more agressive, punk music, and the loaf hit both those marks while pavement seemed more of a "college type band" or maybe more scenester
Pavement were the first scenester band, it is known.
Dude they are both so good. For me pavement just have so many great tracks, while archers of loaf have like 4 amazing tracks, but the rest of their stuff I'm not really into
Ned's Atomic Dusbin was best of this all early-mid 90s genre
pavement is a solid band but they are snobby
@@Thesilentduck666 They were never snobby to me, they had plenty of chances to snob out on me, most easy going band i've ever spent time with.
love them
You just gained a new fan. Sorry I missed you ! So nostalgic.
Loved this sound fr early-mid 90s
Ned's Atomic Dustbin was best
Neds were grebo - totally different scene/genre, that includes the likes of PWEI and Senseless Things. I can hear a bit of similarity but Loaf, Pavement etc are distinctly 90s US sounding, compared with the early 90s British sound of Neds etc.

God I miss these days
How do they come up with catchy tunes like this one?
with all of their might
I think it's time merge uploaded on HD version of these videos!

Rival Schools owes much to them.
Man they DO sound a lot like them. Never thought about that until now.
Was here because of MCR interview...

Archers of Loaf were like pavement and fugazi put together
Someone post lyricssss !
If your into generic hammer-on soft overdrive wankery, you probably wouldn't dig Archers of Loaf.
this music is horriblw its like they learned how to play yesterday
I love a troll who can't spell
smokinnplatez missing the point entirely.

90s. No mellinial bullshit.
I like how the guitarist's name is Eric Johnson. This band is so lame.
It could be worse, it could have been the boring muso guitarist Eric Johnson, who made that horrible, yawn inducing record Venus isle.
It's sad that somone would think this is lame
