A company called LucAdapters is making an EF APSC to EF Full-frame speedbooster for this camera making it full-frame. They're calling it the Magicbooster.
@@Holtenstein sounds good but almost too good to be true or at least functional. I've seen a few companies attempt to do that kind of adapter but in the end it's near impossible because of the flange distance

Nice review man. Seeing so many videos of people talking about the camera but they don't even have it. Should get mine in a few days. Still not sure about getting rid of my 4K haha.
Great review, thank you! You mentioned that Sony glass can be adapted to pocket 4k. I was told it's not possible, do you mind sharing what adapter makes that possible? Please and thank you!
So it's actually a bit cheaper to buy the 6k than the 4k + speedbooster? easy pick in that case since I have EF lenses already. Or am I missing something?
Fantastic Review - how did you get the sigma 18-35 art at 1.7 on the 6k? I understand how you would hit that with the metabones on the 4k but wouldn’t your fstop be limited to 1.8 on the 6k?
Great video, very informative and great with the hands on tests of rolling shutter etc! It is more of a comparison than it's a review though.. I kinda got lost in a lot of comparing with the 4K version, which wasn't what i was looking for.
You could use the 4k for a feature. Most theaters still use a 2K projector. Some are upgrading to 4K projectors, but for an independent feature that'll get limited release or go in the festival circuit the Pocket 4k is plenty. And technically I've shot one feature film (ultra low budget) on a 1080p camera. It just went in the festival circuit but it was fine.
@@BrianMakesFilms hey wanna collaborate on a feature project? As a producer? If yes then please share you contacts. I'm a writer/director worked as a chief assistant director in a production company and now I'm making some shorts.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️GREAT COVERAGE!! But no BRAW in 4k really? Ouch. That’s all I Shoot. I wanna see the new metabones .64 specifically made for the pocket 4K. Slightly better FOV and almost 2 stops added light.. no one is talking about it yet.... as it releases like 2 weeks ago. But you pretty much covered all the bases!!👍
Hi, Tom great review! I noticed that you don't get any vignetting with the sigma 18-35 at 18mm with the speedbooster. I do get vignetting on the mine but I have a Commlite focal reducer which works great besides this annoying vignetting! My question is, you never get vignetting with the speedbooster? not even when you shoot 4k dci? thanks for your time!
There is slight vignetting with the speedbooster if you look closely but not as noticable as with the Commlite adapter. That's why I dont use my Commline. It's the same in 4K DCI, metabones has a slight vignetting but still works for me.
Would love to know the Level of PC windows based systems you would need for editing in 4k and 6k Raw. Type of gpu, Cpu type and speed, how much memory, ssd main drive size, ect.

Did you say adapt Sony emount lenses to Micro4/3? I didn't think that was possible with M4/3 flange distance being greater than Sony emount. Is there a speedbooster that allows refocusing? If you've done this, please include name of adapter or link, I would love to use this, thank you.
Great video. One quick query regarding IS on the 4K model, does it support Lens IS if mounted either of MFT lens and adapted lens through speed boosters?
Native MFT lenses image stabilisation will work with the 4K, such as the 12-35 from Panasonic. With a Metabones speedbooster, there are certainly some lenses that the IS works on. They provide a list of fully compatible lenses.
need an advise...currently have the GH5 with 0.71 ULTRA SB. i want to go back BMD cameras as the colors are much more nicer and richer , what will be better for me: getting the p4k with the SB i have or get the p6k? in terms of productivity, ease of use etc

This was very insightful, thank you. I was about to rush into purchasing the Pocket 6K but after seeing the difference between the 6K 35mm image size compared to the Pocket 4K with speed booster, I'm hesitant.
I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to the technical stuff. If you don't mind taking a quick look at my channel for example, otherwise i'll try explain too. I use a gopro hero 7 black and I definitely in the near future want to upgrade. Cost of the Black Magic 4k isn't a concern for me, the concern is more will this camera do well in the type of stationary environments i'm shooting. Cloudy out, low light, bright light etc of nature. Whether it be like some of my videos where I feature like a 20 foot waterfall. Will the colors be fine? I'm assuming yes, but what about the focus? I guess i'm asking cause you seem to have the knowledge and experience. I'm just making sure I'm investing in the correct thing.
Great as always. Very detailed and informative video. Thank you. Hopefully you can make another video about the crop factor on the 6K because from what I've read, it has a crazy Crop factor when you shoot in 2.7K 120fps. Really want to see how you think and deal with it in real world shooting.
Hi Tom, hope your keeping well, thanks a million for the video on the 6k I found it very informative. I was wondering if you could give me some advice, I am working with a small budget and I am thinking of buying a MEIKE 25mm lens. Do you think this would be a good all around lens for documentary interviews ?
@@maoyron True...it sucks. I fail to understand why they have limited the 6K. But for the price 6K is still a steal. Perhaps they will introduce it with updates. I am relatively new to cinematic cameras and I was going for the BMPCC 4k with speedbooster as I take tiny steps into film making. But as a seasoned Canon (photography) user the mount on the 6K is big deal for me. The money saved on the speedbooster or new mft lens will be spend on 6k and I get to use my canon lenses. I will appreciate if you have any thoughts about my plan.
Hello Tom, Is it possible to record 6K Raw 3:1 24p without dropped frames as I've heard that the 3:1 compression is not possible with most media cards?
2:56 It is important to note that is a USB-C 3.0 port and not a 3.1 Gen2. This mean it does not support any of the NVMe SSD drives. Only the slower SATA that max out around 510MB/s. Edit, you didn't mention the new camera still doesn't have Continuous Auto-Focus.
I didn't talk about autofocus at all... that's because there is only so much I can mention... so I said unless I mentioned the difference it's the same as the Pocket 4K so please watch my review of that camera where I do mention that AF doesn't exist in that camera. It's just touch to focus if you want to initially set focus not for focusing while shooting.
@@TomAntos Gotcha. I still think it's a better idea to mention it. It's only like 2 extra sentences. Not mentioning anything leaves your new and old audiences that just watch this video having to find out elsewhere. Where you could've saved them time just by bringing it up. Instead, you're suggesting to them to waste additional 10+ minutes to find out in another video or elsewhere. Vital information that they want are then wasted (well not completely wasted, still some very good showcase) on this video because they don't have the info they wanted to know and have to go watch your other video on the BMPCC 4K you suggested. Not having these information just leave your review (almost) as basic as most others covering it. Which is slightly disappointing, imo. Anyway, auto focus feature/function or lack of (continuous) on these camera is a big issue (to me), considering this is targeted at entry level film enthusiasts; basically consumer getting into a better camera than pro-sumer versions. Where they don't have the professional level of techniques operating such a camera with manual/touch to focus operations on moving subjects or objects. That's just my take on it. Though, Thank you for your time for covering this. I was very excited for this 6K version and expected improvements over the 4K where complaints where directed, but I see now it's completely ignored. The big takeaway is 6K, S35S, Canon EF mount. So I wouldn't waste an additional $1200 for it over the BMPCC 4K. Oh by the way, would you have any recommendation on low-budget lense that support IS? 25mm to 50mm zoom/prime. I can google, but I rather hear your opinion with your experiences. Thanks.
I was thinking of placing the sigma FF cine lenses on the BMPCC 6K, but due to their weight would it be better to use PL mount versions of those lenses (using a EF to PL adaptor) instead of EF version of those lenses? Main worries are image shifting and balance while using a follow focus system.
Changing the mount won't fix the issue of shifting. With heavy cinema glass just use a róg with rod and lens support and then you can mount it directly to EF mount

This was very insightful, thank you. I was about to rush into purchasing the Pocket 6K but after seeing the difference between the 6K 35mm image size compared to the Pocket 4K with speed booster, I'm hesitant.
Marc Martinez get the ursa
How is the battery life? Did return the BMPCC 4K because of battery life and my GH5 still serves my needs
He says it's about the same
Same as the Pocket 4K... so not great. But I use it with my work around and it's great.
Tom Antos thanks for the feedback I see you addressed it 15min of the video
@@dprovisuals1890 From a bit worse to the same, depends.
Also with focal reducer change F-stop brighter.
one question: can i use sony lenses on pocket 4k? are there adapters for sony lenses to m4/3 or to ef mount?
Great review...I was planning to get the 4k, but I think I will go for the 6k. Thanks Tom.
Oinam Anand but no 4k braw..
I will appreciate if you have any thoughts about my plan.
maoyron Firmware update will be on the way. Hang tight.
Oinam Anand no don’t get the 6K get better lenses
get better lenses instead
Hello Tom, Is it possible to record 6K Raw 3:1 24p without dropped frames as I've heard that the 3:1 compression is not possible with most media cards?
So, 1080 is cropped? By how much? Is 6K the only mode that uses the full sensor?
How is AF in photo & video modus? Any useable?
Wow! Great comprehensive video!
The lower third in the beginning was awesome! What did you render it in?
