      A company called LucAdapters is making an EF APSC to EF Full-frame speedbooster for this camera making it full-frame. They're calling it the Magicbooster.

    • @TomAntos
      @TomAntos  5 лет назад +1

      @@Holtenstein sounds good but almost too good to be true or at least functional. I've seen a few companies attempt to do that kind of adapter but in the end it's near impossible because of the flange distance

    • @Holtenstein
      @Holtenstein 5 лет назад

      @@TomAntos They already make a similar adapter for the Ursa 4.6k. How useful will it remain to be seen? But it could make this camera even better.

    • @noneban
      @noneban 5 лет назад

      maybe if they come up with a speedbooster that goes into the mount, like inserting it into it, and only have a very thin ring that protrudes from the actual mount they can make it work, if not, the flange distance factor will make it impossible

    I'm definitely happy with my newly arrived p4k and considering I'll most likely downscale to 1080p for the project I bought this for, it'll serve me very well.
    If I had to deliver 4k footage then I'd love the 6k as I can downscale for a sharper look but even so, a bit of sharpening in Resolve should do the trick with my current gear.

    I think the 2 cameras are really for one, simple reason: lenses.
    The quality I've seen from the 4k is pretty damn incredible. For $1300 and if it fits your shooting style, an absolute bargain.
    But there is a lot of Canon glass out there and it basically raises the cost of the 4k if you come from the EF camp. So yes, there are some definite advantages of the 6k camera. But it's all about the glass.

Very keen to get two 6Ks for doing short films. 'Satchel 6K'!

    Thanks for the review, fair as slways. I own the P4k and still have no real need for the P6k yet but I will for sure get one with in time. I love the Idea of having super 35mm on the Pocket to have bit better match to my UMP and have native EF mount, those things means the moast for me to have the pocket 6k, shooting in 6k is just a plus for me and I can of course see some use for it, even in 4k projects.
    I am usung pocket 4k on my drone in 4k raw but it would be nice being able to shoot 6k raw on the drone so the p6k will come in handy.
    Again thanks for your reviews, plain facts fair and honest reviews are always welcome.

    I have the pocket 4k and I use it with Rokinon Cine DS lenses with EF mount with a Metabones T Cine speed booster XL 0.64x. This configuration makes it better for low light conditions because the speed booster gives an 1 1/3 stop extra. That means when I set the ISO to 3200 is like I'm exposing to 8000 ISO. I like that. I love the benefit of the speed booster that makes it better in low light conditions. I think you never considered that when you talked about it, because when you use the speed booster you have to compensate the exposure for the extra 1 1/3 stop that makes the lens even faster.

    It's so incredibly unfortunate they put an EF mount on this and didn't stick with an MFT mount with the super-35 sensor in it which has been shown to easily work. By going EF you are sacrificing so much from ultimate lens stability and mount strength to use of speed boosters or behind the lens ND filters, especially with also it only being a x1.6 Canon sized super-35 and not true full academy x1.4.

    • @davidwendt3613

I hope Black Magic Design has the mft option by then. I would also like to see a canon rf mount.

    Did you say adapt Sony emount lenses to Micro4/3? I didn't think that was possible with M4/3 flange distance being greater than Sony emount. Is there a speedbooster that allows refocusing? If you've done this, please include name of adapter or link, I would love to use this, thank you.

    S35 is smaller then APS-C but you have a Metabones 0.71x booster, which converts it to a full frame equivalent, if you want to convert it to S35 you need the 0.64x booster. Just wanted to throw that in :P Great video tho!

    I have the P4K and I love it. That said, I consider a Speed Booster to be a near essential purchase, and considering the price of the Metabones products, there's going to be few reasons for anyone not to just go straight for the P6K in future. Both very fine cameras regardless.

    Great review Tom, but I would have been excited and pumped if instead BM had came out with a updated bmpcc 4k that had a tilt screen. Why would any aspiring film maker want to shoot a narrative in 6k anyway? Heck, vast majority of Hollywood feature films are shot in 2k. Why do the premier directors and cinematographers drool over and continue to shoot with the Alexa in 1080? Exceptions of course, I'm just saying 6k does not impress or intrigue me one bit.

    Hello Tom. Great review as always. Thanks a lot for this works. I have the BMPCC 4K and when I film (or shot? Sorry for my english) in RAW 2K it creates an adicional crop factor because filming in 2K only use half sensor. My cuestion is: If you use the BMPCC 6K but film in RAW 4K, do you get and adicional crop factor or use the whole super 35 sensor en RAW 4K too?

    Hi Tom, Thanks for your Test BMPCC 4K vs. BMPCC 6K. I don't have the 4K and 6K. But I want to have! The only question is: wich of them... To me: I'm a video journalisms. Often I have to make run and gin videos, sometimes I have a little more time for better pictures. So I have for "run and gun" the Sony Z90. But for the better pictures my BM Mini Ursa 4.6 is to big. But for filming TV the Ursa Mini is too heavy. What ist your opinion? What should I buy? ...4K or 6K...? ( I have 4/3 objectives, also 5x walimex EF 14-85mm and 3x canons. The walimex are not stabiliced. Stabilisation is very important for me!)

    Great review Tom.Like camera specs it has really good features for that price.Easy to use and operate.This is a good step up for blackmagic.And good step for the industry.
    Nobody was able to touch good uncompressed RAW footage in the past for less then 30000 usd$.
    But if you want to have accurate colors this is not the right choice.If you look carefully in the image you will notice that there is a brownish tint. Like sepia filter applied over the picture.
    Check the greenery in these footages. It doesn't look correct.
    This is the biggest disadvantage of all blackmagic cameras together with the fixed noise pattern in the dark areas.
    For green screen keying is it ideal solution.Low noise in the green channel.Good overexposed and underexposed compensation range.The quality is much better when you overexpose then underexpose the picture.
    It is perfect for small production with low budgets looking for professional quality.
    If they fix the color space to make it look very close to the reality the other big camera makers are in real trouble. :))) For sure good camera to have it.

      Native MFT lenses image stabilisation will work with the 4K, such as the 12-35 from Panasonic. With a Metabones speedbooster, there are certainly some lenses that the IS works on. They provide a list of fully compatible lenses.
