An easier method is to melt the shea butter and coconut oil first, then add the essential oil and dried ingredients. Lavender and May Chang EO work well.

Thank you for sharing recipe for deodorant with magnesium hydroxide! I found your channel July 31st and since then I have made 2 batches with different essential oils. The first with exact ingredients and Geranium. It did not work for me like I wanted because I would smell musky by the end of the day. The second batch I made yesterday, increasing the magnesium, arrowroot and coconut oil, adding Lavender and Patchouli. It came out as a solid. I have to scrape it to get it out of the container but it goes on dry, not oily AND it worked. I was damp under arm, but not smelly! Very happy!

I was meaning to make a balm deodorant for years but never really got round to it. I finally decided to make it 2 days ago and found your video, I was unsure as to how the results would be and if it would be worth it. I'm soooo happy and surprised with the results, have been wearing the deodorant for a whole day and night and have had no sweat smell at all! Thank you soooo much, will definitely continue with this recipe ❤

(Aurelia botanical deodorant) So now that it's running out (because I can't keep spending that amount) I googled around for the same sequence of ingredients and arrived here! So excited to make this. I just bought these ingredients bulk and they should last me years and years. 😂 And my teenagers can use safe deodorant. Yay!

@@johnwhite6667 Hi there. After 9 batches, all of which I have used up, my recipe is currently:
      20 g cornstarch powder
      60 g shea butter
      10 g coco-caprylate or coconut oil
      8 g sodium bicarbonate
      5 g kaolin (optional)
20 drops cedar wood ess. oil (opt.)
20 drops mandarin orange ess. oil
      30 drops lemon ess. oil
      20 drops orange ess. oil
      1. Gently melt shea for non-grainy consistency.
      2. Let cool to room temp. No more than 30 degrees or the essential oils will vanish.
      3. Add the coconut oil.
      4. In a seperate bowl mix dry ingredients.
      5. Then add the dry ingredients into the oils.
      6. Finally, add essential oils. Stir well.
      7. Let rest until the consistency is firm but malleable. If you pour into container while it is fluid, the corn starch will sink to the bottom. So wait till it is like a soft paste, then spoon into the container. Write batch no. on the lid.
      8. Store out of the sun and enjoy the lovely scent every morning. Use approx the size of 4 peas. Let it warm under armpits before spreading on skin. Doesn't stain clothes. Give it some weeks because your body may go crazy if you haven't let your armpits sweat for years. And if you have a nervous or active day, it may not be powerful enough. But for all the normals days, it's great.
For those scared of sodium bicarbonate, it is not the ingredient that is bad, just that if there is too much, it will be too alkaline. A little is fine.
For those scared of bacteria, there is no water in this recipe, and thus bacteria cannot multiply in this container since there is literally no H2O to create more bacteria.
If you can only afford one essential oil, buy a 5 or 10 ml bottle of lemon ess. oil.
Coco-caprylate is just to achieve a less oily feeling than coconut oil. Like a store product. But the coconut oil is quickly absorbed and then there is no difference.
That's it! Hope it works 🙂

is there a reason you use so little baking soda? I have noticed with your recipe, that I need at least 3g for it to work, better is 4.5g. Also I noticed that you don't use any beeswax, is there a reason for that? Lastly, why don't you heat it over a double boiler to make the mixture smoother?

my problem is, when i make my baking soda deodorant, (as a guy) i sweat a lot
and it drips (throughout the day).
to stop the embarrassing clumps falling on the floor (from my arms),
I had to shave my pits.
That helped somewhat, but now i still get tiny drop sized white
specks falling from under my arms onto the floor (throughout the day), as i sweat.
I can't go to work like that, in office, with random white greasy specks
falling on the floor while walking around or talking to people.

I can't use any natural deodorant with coconut oil because it is comedogenic and clogs pores. Since deodorants using coconut oil are high on the comedogenic scale, they are more likely to clog your pores and cause ingrown hairs to develop. This is especially true since coconut oil's properties are sitting in a moist dark environment such as your underarms.
