If you're doing rear wheel work there's no need to remove the saddle bags. In the right bag where the air line comes through you can access the lower bolt that holds the whole bag and trunk assembly on. The same access is inside the left bag. Remove the seat and loosen the upper bag mount bolts, remove the rear muffler mount bolts, remove the rear crash bars and the entire trunk and bag assembly will tip up and give you total access to the rear wheel and shocks. If your bike has a trailer hitch it will have to be removed too. I would replace the lower bag mount bolts (which also are the rear crash bar mount bolts) with allen bolts. It makes reassembly a lot easier.

Excellent video... and everything. Tragically, a local motorcycle shop did not take the saddlebags off when putting my tire on and installing new brakes. So here's what happened. While I was on I265 South in Louisville during high traffic time, my rear brake caliper came completely off and grinded against the rotor. I had no rear brakes! I took the next exit and found a safe spot to pull off the road and my dad, who's 82, had to go to the farm, pick up his truck and trailer and drive to Louisville to pick up me and the bike. The motorcycle shop knew they messed up and fixed the problem but my confidence in their repair work is utterly shattered. :-( I can send you a video of what happened. And everything.

    It was cheap.
