    You made one mistake in this video: you said the recommended specs are probably targeting 1440p but this cannot be true since if we're going off of the Series X as you have, those specs would be targeting 4K 30 fps, not 1440p 30 fps, since Series S is the one running at 1440p.

    • @gamedaytoday1
      @gamedaytoday1  Год назад +1

      However, the latest gameplay was reportedly rendered at 1296p internally, using temporal upscaling to achieve the 4K target. So that’s why I said 1440p so it was a mistake on my end not to referencing how I got to the 1440p number. There are plenty of articles mentioning this.

    If they compare a 6800XT to a 2080, that doesn't make AMD look better. Actually quite the opposite. However I heard/read that the reason for only 30 fps on the X Box is actually the CPU, so Starfield might be a CPU heavy game and the GPU plays only a secondary role.

    Can someone explain how SC can have rovers and in atmosphere flight but Starfeild cannot. Is it simpy bc alot of the "work" is done offisite. Or is SC engine just that much better?

    • @halrichard1969
      @halrichard1969 Год назад

      Star Citizen is Multi-Player. Starfield being a solo experience would have actually been easier if i am not mistaken. Starfield could have had atmosphere flight but the designers chose not to. I just happed onto that info yesterday after watching several vids on SF. SC while having atmos flight is still a very limited game with only a few solar systems and lots of bugs. They have been challenged to make the game for eight going on nine years now. Trying to compare the two is like comparing apples and oranges.

    4:20 I think you got your point backwards. If AMD wants us to think Nvidia doesn't perform as well as their cards, couldn't they put in something like a 3090 or higher card? Pitting the 6800XT against the 2080 makes Nvidia look better in the end. People have talked about this point and think that ray tracing will be placed in the engine without being able to take it off.

  • @alueshen
    @alueshen Год назад +4

    I have two thoughts.
    First, is it possible that the 30fps cap is being implemented to reduce input lag, screen tearing? I know that games that provide smooth frames at 40-50 frames can feel better than games that have higher rates, but input lag is higher or frame times are really inconsistent.
    Second, maybe I'm just a little more sophisticated when it comes to PC hardware, but when I see a recommendation that says 2080 for Nvidia and 6800xt for AMD, I think to myself, "dam, this game is either optimized better for Nvidia or AMD cards are just slower requiring a much newer card to meet the requirement". In other words, that's a bad look for AMD from where I sit. I'm not disagreeing with the author of this vid, but if he's right that's a bonehead move on AMD's part.
    Hopefully anyone benchmarking these two GPU's is smart enough to know that in most cases the 6800xt should be a much more powerful card, I mean the 2080 is hamstrung by 8gb of RAM, my old 1080ti (Nvidia's best card...errrr...I mean biggest mistake in ages) had 11gb!

    I think youre a little off for the performace of star citizen in reguards to how it handles background simulation.
    Although SC offloads it to servers. The servers running slower have a direct impact on your local fps. Far more then it was when tested before they removed local hosting. If anything, starfeild will run much better because it is run locally. And not waiting for the cloud.
    Im a sc fan and would like to see it successful in the long run. And really hope they bring back the ability to host it locally.

    • @gamedaytoday1
      @gamedaytoday1  Год назад +1

      The server FPS does not impact your local performance. It is the server entity count that impacts your performance. I have done the test multiple times and it is only when the entity count is high by the server when the local performance degrade. I think it’s also a combination of number of players within your area, as such your PC is struggling due to the Main Thread being single threaded. If the server FPS impacts your Local FPS then overclocking and tuning would not improve your FPS which it does.
      The number of entities the server has at any location directly impact your FPS because it forces your CPU to draw more calls which is a problem of all old APIs as DX11 and older. The only way to solve this is with brute force with overclocking and memory tuning. Or once Vulcan is fully implemented and they decouple the main thread it’s when we can see an improvement in performance.
      Chances are that Starfield also has the same issues of having 1 main thread which is holding its performance back. this is the issue many games still face today. Number 1 prediction here is that pc players will complain about the performance just like in SC.
      There it’s so much wrong 😑 and incorrect comments in my video’s.
      Hosting locally = fewer entities = better FPS. This is what cause the “good performance”

    So just to confirm
    The series X is going for 30fps at 4k.
    Recommended 2080 and 3700x will give 4k 30?
    Also 3080 i7 10700 - 60 to 70fps is that at 4k with FSR? It's what I am hoping and predict.
    I got a ROG stricks oc 3080 10g and i7 12700 16g of ddr4 ram.

    2:40 'pc hardware equivalent xbox series x' is not correct. next-gen consoles don't have a 6700xt. it's a 6650xt, a770. nvidia is somewhere in between 3060 and 3060ti. 3060 is a bit too slow; 3060ti a bit too fast.

    The logic in this vid is wrong in so many ways.... The game engines are not the same. I think Starfield will run better once is released and polished up a bit after all its a single player game. Star citizen runs worse the more players you get in the server. I remember once in starcitizen there was a way to run the game in single player mode and my old i7-4790k and gtx970 was getting on average 50-80fps on medium at all times.

      @gamedaytoday1 It has nothing to do with tuned. if you need to have a 13th gen chip and a 4000 series GPU to run 60 fps at 1440, then there is something wrong. Tuning a 8th gen chip and a 2060 isn't going to do you any good, you just can run it. The number of people with the bleeding edge system is small, and the vast majority of PC players can't play the game. I have a i7-1700, 3070 and 32 gigs of RAM, and according to your analysis, I won't get 1080p 60 fps. I have never run into any game I can't get at least 60 fps at 1440p, at least medium settings, and most games i play at a much higer rate. Lastly you shouldn't need a degree in Comp Sci to play a video game. It should not be required to overlook, mess with timings etc to get minimal performance. The old DOS days were bad enough with different autoexec.bat files for different games so you could get all the drivers into memory.
